Reviews for Hôtel De Calais
Review 1:We liked the fact that our midnight arrival did not cause us or the hotel any problems. We phoned the afternoon of our arrival to be given door codes to enable access. The person on the phone spoke good English and was very efficient. The room, although basic, was comfortable and we'll worth the price we paid. Breakfast at 8.80 euros is excellent, with an extensive range of tasty food. All staff appeared well-trained and were courteous. Would recommend!
Review 2:for the price this was excellent value. Very central, great view over the harbour and private parking in the courtyard (for average sized cars, not our van. Incredibly situated under the beautiful church of St Jaques.
Review 3:No lift, so need to get luggage up lot of stairs if at the top of the hotel. Limited parking on first come first served basis. We arrived at 4pm and got the last spot which was a tight squeeze for a large MPV. We knew of parking issue in advance though.
Review 4:Room was big, brightly decorated, clean, had a nice view and good bathroom. Hotel in very good location. We loved the French breakfast with the views over the harbour. All in all very happy.
Review 5:Steep stairs, very noisy seagulls, breakfast a liitle bit squeezed, all happens by doorway.
Review 6:Situation in Le Treport, wonderful view from hotel over harbour
Review 7:No hairdryer
Review 8:We stayed last year. A typical French hotel, eclectically colourful but the rooms are comfortable, bathrooms spotless and the location in this lovely little fishing town very good. An ideal stop on the way back to Calais for some lovely fresh fish and a relaxing evening
Review 9:Not a bad experience but we had 59 steps to get to our room so if you are not very active ask for a room lower down.
Review 10:We were in room 30 overlooking the harbour with views out to sea were we could watch the fishing boats going in and out.
Review 11:No lift.
Review 12:Upper panoramic rooms have lovely view over the harbour/town. Although the hotel does not have its own restaurant there are a large number of places to eat along the quayside nearby. Secure parking.
Review 13:Nothing stuck out as a dislike.
Review 14:It is clean and comfortable. It has an excellent location and is reasonably priced. Secure car parking in an internal courtyard is available. I will certainly stay again.
Review 15:Lots of stairs Parking good if you can get a spot but hard if all taken. Restaurants are ALL seafood understandable for location but annoying if you want a break from seafood.
Review 16:Lovely location close to town centre. Amazing to watch the huge difference in the tides. Breakfast room has lovely view. Very quiet and clean we ended up extending our stay.
Review 17:The boiler had broken down so no hot water on the first day and no heating on the second but we were provided with an electric heater
Review 18:The room on the second floor overlooked the street but the doulble glazed matching windows kept the noise out so we slept well. The room and acess were recently re-furbished to a quality my wife appreciated. the taste was not our's but clearly by an interior decorator with latural materials on the walls and floor in the modern shower room. The range of food for beakfast was extensive so we walked down to the quay for coffee and ciossant as we'ed eaten well the night before. The hotel breakfast was large enough to not bother with a lunch. the quality of local resturants is good and the menue wide ranging to suit all tastes and pockets. The stair is narrow but cases only go up and down once so not a bother really
Review 19:THe hotel had a very narrow stair case and not lift. It was a little difficult getting suitcases up the stairs but worth the effort.
Review 20:The location was excellent. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We were on the main street but once the windows were closed you cold not hear any street noise. It was really great having packing on the site.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:We stayed for one night on our way back home , the hotel had everything we wanted including secure parking for our motorcycle. loads of restaurants within a few minutes walk
Review 23:A great view of the sea from both rooms that we stayed in (2 and 43). Clean and comfy beds, friendly staff. And the added touch of a free, well maintained pool table makes it well worth the stay at Hotel de Calais. Reilly Baldwin.
Review 24:Lots of stairs up to the room and no lift so unsuitable for very unfit or disabled.
Review 25:The spacious, apartment style attic room with views over the harbour took our breath away. The cold buffet breakfast was good if a little pricey.
Review 26:No problems what so ever, got told the WiFi wasn't working until the next day but we had our mobiles so can't call it a fault.10/10
Review 27:This hotel is spotless clean, like no other we have stayed in and we have stayed in many. I've never cleaned a hotel bath before but we did before we left as felt it was a shame to messy it. Decor is strange but it works well for the hotel. If you like clean then this is your place. 10/10
Review 28:Decoration a little tired. No lift
Review 29:Location overlooking harbour if you reserve room with sea view. Secure overnight parking at no extra charge. Old hotel but value for money, clean and comfortable. Our room was quiet but this as always depends upon other geusts.
Review 30:The facilities were too basic and the continental breakfast was not value for money as there was insufficient choice. The décor was 'different' with a very wide remit of colours - would find this claustrophobic if we were staying for more than a couple of days.
Review 31:The room was reasonably clean and there was a good sea view
Review 32:Lovely central location to this buzzing little port town. Typically French hotel, lots of colour, quite basic and old fashioned. Free secure parking a bonus. Lots of stairs so ensure you state if you can't manage many! Perfect couple of night stop on our way back to Calais. Lovely town worth a visit.

Review 82:Lack of sufficient parking

Review 89:Our room (no 37) at the top was lovely with a great view over the harbour and it was imaculately decorated in bright colours. Owner was very helpful. Breakfast good -lean ham, cottage cheese and boiled eggs as well as all the usual continental breakfast items.
Review 90:The proprietor was welcoming and soke English. He helped us take our luggage to an upstairs room. We enjoyed a good continental breakfast and were staying right above the harbour area close to numerous restaurants .. And then there was the view. If we visit again this is the hotel for us.
Review 91:the decor is very kitsch and lots of unusual colours (despite being in tip top condition)
Review 92:Totally renovated, coffee and tea in room, great shower, right in the middle of town, nice view of sea, good breakfast
Review 93:parking is limited and need to find parking place by ourselves when we can`t assure hotel`s parking area.
Review 94:Nice location Near from many nice restraints and old town
Review 95:Breakfast is ok but not great. On-site parking is limited because of lack of space
Review 96:Lovely hotel on great location. Been in ownership of the same family for centuries and it shows: they know what they are doing. Great rooms with harbor/sea view, family room with games and pool table. Free wifi. Next door neighbors: 13th century church and a tidal port. We will return here
Review 97:Room a bit small but OK for one night. No lift so a bit of a hike up three floors with baggage.
Review 98:Very old, quirky hotel with a lot of history. Beds very comfortable and room very clean with excellent shower. Location ideal for visiting the town, beach and its restaurants.
Review 99:Be aware that there are a limited number of parking spaces, not enough for everyone. Parking on the street is not free.
Review 100:The room was bright, the decor and fittings well-designed (bathroom new); the view across the courtyard not particularly special but beyond it a large church. 30 seconds from the building down some steps you are at the harbour, 3 minutes and you are at a nice pebble beach.
Review 101:17 places for parking which cannot be reserved. Parking was full but we managed to find a place on the street nearby.

Review 108:Location 1.5 hours from Calais, superb Shoer, comfortable room, excellent breakfast overlooking the fishing boats returning to harbour
Review 109:Arrived during American weekend along with approx. 1000 MC riders. Recommend to avoid this weekend in Treport was absolutely flooded with people.
Review 110:Nice hotel, reasonably clean. Friendly staff. Good safety. Delicious breakfast buffet. Sweet city, lovely merry-go-round by seaside. No problem to find wonderful seafood restos.
Review 111:- internet connexion - lack of lift (could be a problem for them who have big luggage to carry) - breakfast is really expensive
Review 112:- almost everything : very nice and quiet, very clean, on the seaside, easy to find, parking...
Review 113:excellent location, good view of sea. Secure parking. lots of good restaurants just a few minutes walk. only a one night stopover, would have liked longer!
Review 114:Hotel is well situated, from windows you can look at the entrance to the port. Nearby you can eat and buy delicious seafood. The owner is very nice, rooms and bathroom vary comfortable. The breakfast – delicious. Really money to value. We will certainly come back there.
Review 115:Would have been nice to have outside seating area, to enjoy a warm evening/day. Very narrow carpark entry. Audi A6 approx 2" to spare before scuffed wheels.

Review 121:Great view of tidal harbour . Central location, near old town andfunicular. Bedroom with harbour view newly decorated with vibrantcolours. Beautiful stylish bathroom with original tiles. No noise disturbance either from within or outwith. Interesting historical information about the hotel, including past residents such as Victor Hugo.
Review 122:The hotel has its own parking place within the walls but the drive-in is really small for a bigger car.
Review 123:I can certainly recommend this small and colourful hotel near to the coast in the small city of Le Tréport! 35 nice fish restaurants in walking distance of the hotel. But attention when you pick out the right address. Some are on 20 meters of the fish market and they serve frozen fish!!!!!
Review 124:Room looked tired and we were on the third floor with no lift. There was also quite a lot of noise during the day because the hotel is extending the rooms it offers.
Review 125:Great views and close to the busy town.
Review 126:would have been nice to have a resturant on site, but being picky because it rained heavily while we were there.
Review 127:room very clean and bed comfortable, very near good resturants, and reasonably priced.
