Reviews for Parador de Segovia

Review 1:When the Bar/Cafeteria was busy there was a lack of staff to clear tables when customers had finished. One or two staff were a little off hand, but overall staff were pleasant and helpful, particularly at Recepcion.

Review 2:This is a fabulous Parador in a lovely location. We would definitely recommend it.

Review 3:The position, the view was excellent the sun reflecting off the historic buildings. The food was fantastic, suckling pig.The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 4:Beautiful room overlooking the town of Segovia, at night the cathedral is lit up and looks stunning. We were only passing through on our way south but was perfect for overnight stay. Food was delicious.

Review 5:The breakfast room was understaffed, the buffet breakfast was always out of basics like bread and eggs and the staff just couldn't keep up. The WIFI was good when it worked but when it was down, it took a while for the staff to get it on line again.

Review 6:Our room had a wonderful view. There was convenient parking at the hotel and it was just a short taxi drive into town which eliminated having to look for parking in town.

Review 7:Even though the breakfast buffet was vast and delicious, it was a bit too expensive for our taste. Wifi was not always working so well, but that's fine!

Review 8:Location is beautiful! The outside area with the pool and the hotel on the inside is spacious and very comfortable, especially for families. We slept very well, because the hotel is very quiet.

Review 9:The wonderful setting and good food was however spoilt by the very unprofessional attitude of the Paradores staff which seemed to signal that we were "persona non grata". The head waiter seemed very condescending, taking orders from Spanish speaking customers ahead of us. Apart from the dry rolls, the food was excellent and served promptly, but the level of attention afforded us in comparison with the Spanish guests was zero. Not once did any member of staff offer to replenish our wine or water glasses, we were not offered the plates of olives and nibbles that other guests had, we were never asked if the food was to our liking or offered coffee or liqueurs. The table behind us that came in later had their coffee ordered well before us, while we were totally ignored and after a considerable wait we had to interrupt one of the waiters who were rushing to clear away and pack up. On complaining to the reception desk we were informed that the management including the head waiter had left some time ago. After having experienced a most enjoyable stay at the Paradore in Chin Chon on the eastern side of Madrid, which was booked directly, we met the Segovia manager the next morning who assured us that the Booking.Com commission made no difference. The managers derisory deduction of coffee and water from our final bill in noway draws a line under this complaint which we will take up with the Madrid head office.

Review 10:Sitting on the restaurant's open air balcony overlooking Segovia with the sun setting, followed by the gradual switching on of the cities illuminations to highlight all of the historical sights.

Review 11:Lack of Hospitality of staff: 1) Opening times swimmingpool limited (10-19 hrs) and stubborn refusal by staff for short use at 20.00 after long daytravel of 850km. 2) complete desinterested an unpersonal lady at check out desk ( 27th august, 12.00 hrs). A checkout machine would have performed more friendly

Review 12:Ligging

Review 13:The hotel was located further from the centre of Segovia than we expected. You definitely need to catch taxis to/from city centre otherwise you face a 45/60 minute walk. The bathroom suite/fittings were very dated.

Review 14:The staff were extremely friendly.

Review 15:Breakfast too expensive€80 per day for my family - too much so we breakfasted out We only wanted croissants and coffee

Review 16:Cleanliness and size Pool area and clean towels by pool

Review 17:We were expecting something with a little more character. Instead, it looks like a new hotel. It was nice but no what we expected. The location is far from the aquaduct/touring locations. They told me they did not get my special request not to be by an elevator and we were right by the elevator. They had no other rooms. Some type of miscommunication between hotel and booking.com

Review 18:Nice hotel with a good view

Review 19:constant canned music in public areas. unlike many other paradores not in the old town meaning you have to drive: not good if you want to eat and drink out.

Review 20:pleasant modern hotel with view of city. sucking pig in restaurant superb.

Review 21:You need to have a car or use a taxi to get into the city as it is too far to walk.

Review 22:The hotel is on a hill overlooking the city and we had an excellent room with a panoramic view and a balcony and a with a well equipped marble bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely use this hotel again.

Review 23:Restaurant staff were very slow and inattentive. Got order wrong. Wi-fi unusable in large parts of the hotel. Check-in took far too long after a very long day travelling: we had pre-booked and just want a room key, not a form-filling marathon.

Review 24:Location good, room good, view good

Review 25:The whole ambience of the Paradaor was first rate: excellent staff, service and accommodation standards. And the views across the valley to Segovia were stunning.

Review 26:Certainly not the best value for money hotel we had on our trip.

Review 27:Dinner, overlooking the Cathedral and aquaduct as the sun was setting. They also let us park our bikes in the garage for free, although I would have been quite happy to leave it outside.

Review 28:The food was very expensive and disappointing. €15.44 for a slice of bread, an egg, a coffee and an orange juice; and it wasn't even very nice.

Review 29:The view is superb

Review 30:The dinner we both had was lukewarm and my wife's pork was nearly raw. Maitre D's reaction was good. Huge bedroom had v small en suite bathroom.

Review 31:The views from the bedroom and from the restaurant were superb and different morning evening and night. Good price through Booking.com.

Review 32:There were only 1 English speaking channels on the tv American cnbnwhich only has business news, why ever can't the Paradorsinstall Sky?

Review 33:This Parador has stunning views towards the centre of Segovia and ourroom like all the others had a balcony and large windows to enjoy it. Itis a modern hotel so don't expect an old palace, but whilst thearchitecture is Brutalist in concept it is a luxury experience withsuper rooms and great food

Review 34:Too far away from the old town of Segovia. A 40 minute walk each way or a taxi ride being the only alternatives as traffic and parking would make it difficult to take your car into that area

Review 35:Very helpful and professional staff Excellent dinning facilities with dishes to die for.

Review 36:The view over Segovia was superb The hotel was spacious and clean This was a typical parador well looked after with a touch of luxury Very easy to find with plenty of parking

Review 37:Both internal and external pools were closed, which was a nuisance as we had booked the break specifically for my wife to exercise in a pool following a knee replacement operation!

Review 38:Practically everything

Review 39:Staff weren't terribly helpful. We weren't old the pool was open for example, in fact no info on facilities at all. The child bed squeaked so badly I had no sleep at all, it was changed but no apology.

Review 40:View

Review 41:Great hotel, wonderful lounge area, staff nice and friendly, really great restaurant, the restaurant manager was especially helpful. Would recommend Segovia as a place to visit. Free parking a real bonus and the tour bus arrives at the hotel every quarter to the hour.

Review 42:In a restaurant, the staff was not friendly at all. Also the view from our bed room did not have a good view at all even though we paid 160 euros without breakfast. We will not use Parador anymore.

Review 43:The room smelled smoke even if officially was for non smokers. It was bit possible to change it. Many children were noisily playing in the aisles outside the rooms. The price if the breakfast is crazy (€18). The restaurants only offers a menu with 3 courses and no way to have less.

Review 44:The room was large and the bed comfortable, the temperature in the room was comfortable. The parking is large and free of charge. The lobby has a very nice view on the town.

Review 45:Quite a long way from old city. Need to drive down to aqueduct and park in underground car park and then walk into old city, but not a problem.

Review 46:Good location for city view day and night.

Review 47:Would be a long unpleasant walk to town, so we drove, but it is expensive to park there. Check the dates for the pool, it is lovely but closed after September 15.

Review 48:Spacious, modern, lovely views. Staff was amazing when my husband dropped the car keys down the elevator shaft one evening. Maintenance staff climbed in and fetched them in no time, very pleasant about it too.

Review 49:we stayed two nights and the showers were cold on each night. We had to have staff rectify the problem twice. There was no air conditioning and sleep was poor as a result on the first night. When we contacted reception about this we were told that it is cold outside and there is no need for aircon. The temperature for the day would have been in the low 20s. On the second evening we were obliged to leave the doors to the balcony open for some cool air. We were awoken by mosquitoes during the night and later on by neighbouring guests smoking and talking on their balconies. On the first night we dined at the parador and the meal was substandard. The entrees were bland and the mains were accompanied by the worst chips we have ever eaten. The bread was inedible. We thought that we may have been harsh about the bread but a table of nine next to us all left their bread as well.

Review 50:the location and the building.

Review 51:Difficult to find with few signs to the Parador in the city until you are almost there. No muesli or high fibre cereal at breakfast.

Review 52:Staff all very friendly and helpful, options for a cheaper 'light menu' in the dining room is a good idea. Having the indoor swimming pool to yourself, or sometimes almost to yourself, was a treat.

Review 53:Nothing

Review 54:The Parador is perfectly located for stunning views over Segovia. The interior is very modern and very comfortable. We had a delightful one night stay as we travelled through Spain. The staff we all very helpful. The food was excellent.

Review 55:- too far from the city; cab or car necessary; no bus (according the hotel) - only one German TV station and a poor one for that; no CNN or BBC - ants in the room

Review 56:- comfortable hotel, - phantastic view from rooms and bar and restaurant towards the cathedral and old city - nice pool

Review 57:The internet acess is not as announced - not available in the rooms (even with a cable).

Review 58:The hotel facilities, namely common areas like the living room were very good (superb view to Segovia); spacious room with a nice balcony

Review 59:Our room had not been cleaned properly - there were dust balls on the floor. When this was reported, it was resolved but with slightly bad grace. Staff overall lacked friendliness both on arrival and departure and didn't attempt to engage in conversation or ask how our stay had been.

Review 60:Fantastic location overlooking Segovia, with dinner served on an outdoor terrace. Good food and wine. Our room also had a great view from the balcony. Interesting building design with spacious sitting areas off the main reception.

Review 61:Wedding on so we couldn't sit in the main restaurant (main reason for going there as the views ar wonderful), rooms very tired and in need of updating, set menu in the restaurant - no a la carte, breakfast poor compared to other Paradors

Review 62:Views from the public areas, given a disabled room as I had asked for a room with a walk-in shower, but my husband still had to climb into a bath to take a shower. Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 63:Poor wifi connection.

Review 64:Beautiful location with views of Segovia from the lobby and pool area. Nice room with comfortable bed. Balcony with a limited view of Segovia. Very good staff. No problem with an early check in.

Review 65:Only thing i dislike was that cigarrette smoke would enter my room via the central AC & that the room needed a fresh coat of paint.

Review 66:Staff was helpful and really nice!!!

Review 67:The indoor pool should be available always. We couldn't use the wifi in our room for 2 days. The pillows were not comfy.

Review 68:Views of the city. Outdoor pool

Review 69:The pool wasn't open when we stayed.

Review 70:Food A+. Loved the balcony, view and hospitality.

Review 71:Excellent food , beautiful hotel and great view

Review 72:Restaurant was average room was small for price better value 4/5 star hotels in Segovia centre

Review 73:The view and having a balcony

Review 82:Superb location and views over city. Pool area was excellent

Review 83:Breakfaest is too local for forien taste

Review 84:Great views of Segovia Swimming pool looking to Segovia

Review 85:Isolated, expensive meals for what they are

Review 86:The View

Review 87:Great location, stunning views and helpful staff.

Review 88:The Alcazar

Review 89:nothing

Review 90:great view on Segovia Professional and motivated staff

Review 91:Everything ! Location , parking facilities

Review 92:Was told I could not reserve a dinner table near window

Review 93:Overlooks Segovia

Review 94:Service did not match the setting.

Review 95:Luxurious facility with a great view of the city.

Review 96:Location up a huge hill. Taxis required to get back and forth from town.

Review 97:none

Review 98:Paradors are gems, Segovia is in a more modern style, but what great views looking across from the hill setting to Sergovia.

Review 99:Gym closed,inside pool closed,outside pool closed

Review 100:position of hotel for very nice view of Segovia

Review 101:Location

Review 102:staff from the restaurant is not so professional

Review 103:location and view

Review 104:The views and the very large and confortable common areas

Review 105:breathtaking view

Review 106:good place for self-driving, and exellent view.

Review 107:Need to take taxi to get to aqueduct but only 5 euros

Review 108:Great views of old town

Review 109:Lack of welcome on arrival and distance from historic centre.

Review 110:Just that bit too far from the centre of town

Review 111:Good hotel services, very prompt laundry. Good food and bar.

Review 112:- magnificent view over Segovia - large rooms with small balcony - great swimming pool -

Review 113:Generally the hotel could do with a bit of a makeover as some of it seemed a bit worn and lacklustre for the money

Review 114:View and food

Review 115:Loved ambience. Loved the pool.Enjoyed the view. Felt luxurious

Review 116:The inside pool was shut for the four days we were there. They also lock the doors to the gardens and pool area at 8.30 pm, impossible to get to the lawn to take some pictures.

Review 117:The rooms were spacious and clean. The gentleman at the bar/cafe was extremely nice. All other staff not particularly friendly.

Review 118:Breakfast at 18 euros per person rather pricey for the items available.

Review 119:Fantastic restaurant for dinner. The view was grand. Private balcony.Spacious room with great layout. Nice interior design both in room andin public areas. Great wifi connection. Free parking. Well worth the 4-star status. Highly recommended.

Review 120:The outdoor pool was closed and the only restaurant was very expensive.

Review 121:I liked its location. The hotel overlooks the city and is an easy taxi-ride from the aqueduct.

Review 122:some difficult to find it

Review 123:everything including the restaurant and the parking The paradores have improved a lot and are not expensive for what they offer

Review 124:The reception were unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel was only part full but they would not take the time to help. The light on the balcony was falling off and electric wires were exposed.

Review 125:The hotel is run down. Needs remodeling! It's dead still with hardly any people but the facilities which we were looking for after a touristic visit to the city (indoor pool & spa) were not open during the week. The information stating closure is not readily available when booking and I only found it when scrutinizing the website in order to submit a complaint... I think this should be visible when the information over the pool is given. Would not go back during the week.

Review 126:Liked the location and the views as well as tge price during the week.
