Reviews for Citotel Hotel Le Plantagenet
Review 1:We had a very large comfortable updated room with two large comfortable chairs. The owner and her staff were obliging and service oriented. Inexpensive Chinon wine on site was a plus.
Review 2:The room was a bit cramped, but the big problem was the bed, which sagged in the middle and made for a poor nights sleep.
Review 3:Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Recommendation for dinner, what to see, etc. were all very good. The breakfast at the hotel was really excellent and made up for the bed.
Review 4:Limited breakfast, more fresh fruit, ability to cook toast and muesli available.
Review 5:Boutique appeal and quaint place. Staff very friendly. Location very good.
Review 6:Hot water was "iffy" at times, and the wifi was very slow during prime usage hours. But these are minor complaints. It's a very good hotel.
Review 7:Nice facility. Lovely grounds and wonderful breakfast. The location is convenient, quiet, and a wonderful place to stay.
Review 8:Loved it all.
Review 9:A gem of a place. Great for visiting the area or just passing through. Bathroom was lovely, room 145, and the room large and airy. Breakfast was delicious with good variety. Also tea making facilities and garden an added surprise.
Review 10:The staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. The bed was huge and very comfortable.I would definitely visit this hotel again and recommend it to all my friends.
Review 11:Great staff. Wonderful AC on a hot day. And the restaurant attached to the hotel had excellent food. We were able to use the washing facility and dryer. Greatly enjoyed our time with everyone even with just a smattering French speaking among us
Review 12:We had a room upstairs in the wing at the back. Nasty grass carpet on the balcony, nasty smell in the room that didn't go away after having the window open for an hour. Dated room with "antique" furniture (read secondhand and tired). Dim lighting. And that for 75 euro per night without breakfast! This room desperately needs rennovating or a drop in price.
Review 13:The bath! The clean sheets. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Wifi okay between 5-8 pm. After dinner and the following morning the wifi was very slow.
Review 14:Good location in Chinon. As long as you take into account that market day may force you to move your car, the hotel is a good value. This is a fairly traditional-quality, small-town hotel at a very fair price.
Review 15:Nothing bad to say
Review 16:Beautiful setting near the water, not in the main tourist area but walking distance to it, which we saw as a huge plus. The breakfast patio was a great way to start off our day, and the air conditioned room was a perfect way to end it. Ask the receptionist about the wine tour too.
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:This hotel is a real find. Comfortable rooms with air conditioning, excellent choice for breakfast, helpful and friendly staff. Parking is on street and free. Town centre is less than 5 mins walk away.
Review 19:Carrying my suitcase up and down two flights of stairs.
Review 20:Friendly welcome, clean new bathroom with very white towels, large comfortable bed. Air con. Cold bottle of water on arrival.
Review 21:Luckily we saw notice in car park that cars could be there on market days and would be towed away. Think hotel staff should make sure guests know where to park!
Review 22:Central and close to many restaurants. Was quiet at night. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast. Market in front of hotel on Thursday morning.
Review 23:It takes a while for WiFi to connect, but the signal is strong and once its connected, everything's OK
Review 24:Great location, huge room in the building of I don't know what century, a chimney in the room, old style furniture, enormous and very comfortable bed, modern shower with different modes, free tea and cookies and tea making facilities for the guest in the reception room. We will definitely come back
Review 25:Where else can you abide with the Plantagenets? We enjoyed our stay in-and-around Chinon, and this hotel's location made it easy, whether walking or driving.
Review 26:Wifi was really spotty, and the front desk was just moderately helpful in guiding us on what to do in the area or where to eat.
Review 27:Easy to walk anywhere in Chinon from the hotel. Room was very clean and they served a nice breakfast.
Review 28:The in-house restaurant.
Review 29:The service from the extremely courteous and helpful staff.Their valuable assistance in getting us to the different interesting restaurants within walking distance every evening.
Review 30:We had an issue which we needed to see a dr. This hotel found us an English speaking person to take us to the dr an explain everything the dr said. Fabulous the hotel rooms are spacious and very close to everything
Review 31:There was nothing we didn't like. Of the options we were given, we chose a spacious room on the street which eliminated the need to go up stairs frequently but precluded keeping the windows open at night and was a little less private. However, this was our choice, and this was probably the only room with this characteristic.
Review 32:This hotel had character and was located on a tree-lined square that doubled as a parking lot. There were a couple of restaurants just down the street and more only a few blocks away. It was convenient for walks into the rest of the center of Chinon, of which the hotel is on the eastern end. Free parking was available on the street and in the lot, but the hotel will alert you that this parking is not available on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, when there is a market in the square.
Review 33:No hot water on arrival No cups or milk with the communal tea making facilities The WiFi network wasn't functioning correctly (I'm an IT engineer)
Review 34:Location, quirky building
Review 35:No elevator, but staff member brought luggage up the one flight of stairs. We had trouble finding the hotel initially. Only a small sign next to the front door.
Review 36:We had a superior double room with comfortable king bed and plenty of space. Convenient location; good restaurant right next door that we enjoyed on a rainy night; cocktail hour in the "parlour" with other guests; good breakfast. We loved Chinon!
Review 37:Can't think of anything we didn't like!
Review 38:Lovely place, very helpful staff, had a great bike trip thanks to their available bike rental, fantastic breakfast, would rent there again on a subsequent trip.
Review 39:The shower room was a bit small and the shower cubicle didn't quite live up to a superior room. However, it all worked and loo, basin and fittings were new.
Review 40:The location was good, the superior room was very comfortable and the excellent breakfast which was certainly of of the best we have had in that price range
Review 41:The hand held shower. Would have preferred it attached to a stand for ease of showering.
Review 42:Spacious room, very comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and secure storage for our bikes. Pleasant garden area in which to relax.
Review 43:That we did not book a full week here. We will next trip.
Review 44:Top notch all around. Elegant lodging manor with an enclosed lawn and garden outfitted for outdoor lounging. Superb, bountiful breakfast more like a three course meal. The amazingly energetic and good humored, British staff person,Tina, made sure every detail of our stay was excellent. The manager also was always accessible. This place is terrific for a home base to the chateaux of the Loire Valley.
Review 45:There is no elevator, which proved good training for visiting Chateaux in the area!
Review 46:The location and the staff. Bike hire was available. Very comfortable hotel.
Review 47:Car parking not as advertised not really any available within hotel complex. However easy free parking at the front of the hotel in a car park or spaces on the road.
Review 48:Good location, excellent breakfast.comfortable nights stay.
Review 49:the bath room and the bedroom The decor is dated and the bathroom equipment also dated and old. The room overlooked the court yard and was very noisy.
Review 50:the location and the lovely reception staff.
Review 51:The only thing we didn't like was the lack of sound-proofing. Ask for a room on the upper floors - as the guest above us seemed to be walking around all night and we didn't get much sleep.
Review 52:We were traveling by bike through the Loire Valley and appreciated the ability to store our bikes safely. We were given a drink coupon which came in very handy after a long days ride. The room was older but clean and in a good location to easily access the old town.
Review 53:The bathroom door didn't close properly. Wi-Fi didn't work in the room but did in the lounge downstairs and the garden so it wasn't a major issue.
Review 54:The building was old and characterful with some charming, quirky features. Comfortable room and a new, modern bathroom. Great shower! Quiet room, conveniently located with plenty of free parking available nearby. Friendly staff. Charming, peaceful town. Good restaurants and wonderful wine!
Review 55:The staff were very friendly and allowed us to park our classic cars securely in the courtyard. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. We booked 2 rooms both very different. One being much larger and opulent whilst the other was on the top floor so smaller and darker. Chinon is worth more than an overnight stay so must go back.
Review 56:Great location within walking distance of town centre restaurants and chateau. Wonderful breakfasts and helpful staff.nice private garden. Popular with cyclists touring Loire valley.
Review 57:Loved the combination of quirkyness of the bedroom and the wonderful very modern bathroom, breakfast was much better than continental with a good choice of meats, cheese and bread. The hotel just a few minutes walk to the town and restaurants.
Review 58:Two bulbs in bedroom not working on arrival. Some staff not as friendly as others.
Review 59:Good friendly welcome from owner. Bar attached to hotel served good meals.
Review 60:Nothing to dislike
Review 61:the location was excellent, lovely and quiet but with easy access to the main part of the town. The food was excellent. The staff were really helpful and pleasant to make an overall lovely stay and will definitely return.
Review 62:Hotel felt and looked like a hostel.People eating takeaway food in the garden. Bags and boxes in reception. The breakfast room was grubby with soiled linen and the bread basket was placed on yesterday's crumbs. Breakfast was expensivefor quality of food offered.
Review 63:Plenty of cycle storage.
Review 64:Charming, great location, quiet, delicious breakfast
Review 65:Very difficult to open room door and offhand attitude of staff
Review 66:Location near the river and town centre
Review 67:Perfect combination between old style and new modern bathrooms Possibility to wash and dry clothes at resonable price

Review 70:Loved everything. Much attention to detail when providing in-room coffee and tea and biscuits. Loved the size of the room!
Review 71:I left my Debit card here and they mailed it back to me in Canada...........very appreciated.
Review 72:The location was perfect, very quiet at night. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. The staff was very accomodating.
Review 73:Room was too small for two people to walk around bed at same time. Many stairs to drag your luggage.
Review 74:Friendly English speaking staff and location.
Review 75:The excellent welcome and the fine breakfast. The location is attractive and central.
Review 76:Very convenient for town centre walking and excellent free public parking
Review 77:Felt a warning about the market in the car park outside of hotel would have been helpful as it took us ages to find parking space.
