Reviews for Zum goldenen Engel - Fam. Ehrenreich

Review 1:Excellent location just at the start of the pedestrian zone. One of the best breakfasts I've had in a hotel: Fresh juices, selection of home-made cakes, rolls and dark breads. The apricot jam was superb. Also cheers and meet products. Coffee tasted lovely. The room was large and very comfortable. This is a true Green of a family-owned hotel with individual service.

Review 2:Air conditioning too effective, we woke up freezing with sore throats and dry mouths. Blankets are too small.

Review 3:good location right next to the old town, walking distance from the train station and all the best restaurants. Family owned, friendly service. Delicious breakfast.

Review 4:A bit of a hike into the old quarter, and as the weather got cold, -2 deg C in the morning it made the walk a bit unpleasant. Although priced to market, it was the most expensive accommodation we had in our trip to Prague, the Danube and Budapest.

Review 5:Clean room with all facilities that worked. Reasonably close to old quarter and train station. Great selection for breakfast.

Review 6:Our room was fantastic! Private terrace, leather furniture and a thermal cupboard for heat therapy in the room. Great staff especially Alex. They go out of their way to may your stay great.

Review 7:No AC when it was very hot. But this is common for Europe and I knew that going in.

Review 8:Family who runs hotel is very nice. Pool is great on a hot day. My room, which was in the courthouse, was quiet. Breakfast was amazing.

Review 9:Good location, old hotel completely renovated, bedroom and bathroom large and clean, nice garden to have a drink (and where to smoke) Breakfast buffet good and plentiful, excellent quality / price, staff very friendly and helpful especially alexandra. Thank you

Review 10:No air-conditioning, just a fan, but this seems to generally be the case in Austria.

Review 11:The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, even if some were not proficient in English. The daughter, Alex, is on hand nearly all day every day. She speaks very good English and is extremely helpful. The pool area behind the hotel on the mountainside is worth a mention all of its own. It looks out on the vineyards and town. It is quite and shady and you could spend an entire day on a lounger reading a book there and relaxing. You will have to work for it though as there are a couple of flights of stairs to go up. The breakfasts were also amazing. The hot food was limited, but the rest of the spread, especially the pastries were to die for. It is a warm family atmosphere and I would definitely go back if I had the opportunity.

Review 12:Nothing this was my favourite hotel all this trip.

Review 13:The owner, obviously loves her business, great terrace garden and pool. Best breakfast I had all holiday. Room was huge

Review 14:Rather pricey Most expensive of all those on our Danube ride Krems is not a peaceful town by any means

Review 15:Very welcoming and helpful staff Bountiful breakfast Isolated roof-top swimming pool Safe lock-up garage Walkable into town

Review 16:There is no option "Do Not disturb", cleaning lady will enter the room anyway before noon 12 Lots of insects, butterflies and small cockroaches.

Review 17:Located close to train station, 7 minutes walking only

Review 18:The only issue was that it was a bit outside the main part of town. Easy enough to walk to the old town, but not as nice near the hotel (especially once it gets darker).

Review 19:Decent-sized rooms with a table-top fan to help with the extreme heat during our visit. The breakfast was outstanding -- everything you could possibly want (pro tip: use the cold cuts to make sandwiches for later that day!). Free parking was a bit snug, but nice to have regardless -- I think street parking was also possible. We didn't get to use the pool/garden, but it looked like a beautiful place to relax. There was also a common area kitchenette available which would be nice for longer stays. The staff were really friendly and flexible with checkout. Overall a good place to stay to take advantage of the somewhat expensive Wachau Valley.

Review 20:Nothing at all

Review 21:Easy to get to, parking a breeze, walk to the centre, rooms very good with all facilities except fridge,Alex on the front desk was extremely helpful, breakfast was excellent . Use of pool was a great bonus with the hot weather.

Review 22:The desk staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with information about local attractions, directions, etc. The breakfast spread was outstanding - lots of varied fruits, vegetables, meats, cereals, yogurt, eggs, breads, and sweets.

Review 23:Nothing really was to dislike Except a long walk from the landing stage of the danuebe boats

Review 24:Room very good if you don't like noise ask for back room Daughter speaks excellent English Breakfast superb

Review 25:Nothing.

Review 26:Very friendly - the lady at reception spoke very good english and gave me helpful advice on the cycleway / krems. Incredible breakfast, more like a banquet (and served from 6am if you want to get pedalling early). Lovely room, more like an apartment, with wooden floor and velux windows. Good location for town and the cycleway. Secure garage where you can leave your bike.

Review 27:Was all good

Review 28:Friendly staff, easy distance to walk to all places of interest in Krems. Breakfast was good and room and hotel very clean. Secure garage to store bikes

Review 29:Finding the turn from the wide 2-lane Rte 35 onto the small one-way WienerStrasse was hard. The two big red banners hung on the construction fence helped us to recover after we missed the turn several times.

Review 30:great job of providing maps for walking exploration of Krems and making us feel welcome.

Review 31:None

Review 32:A warm welcome to a cosy, family run hotel. Being an English speaker, with very limited German vocabulary - I pleased to meet Alex, the daughter, who spoke fluent English. An absolute delight who went out of her way to help with any requests. Fabulous breakfast with traditional Austrian style and charm - the best coffee I had while travelling in Europe. Located at the beginning of the Old Town with great walks through cobbled stone streets. Bus stop, literally outside the front door, three stops to the main station.

Review 33:Friendly Staff, breakfast spread like I have never seen before. I mean 10 types of desserts, and everything else you can imagine. I cant do justice in a paragraph. You're thinking shouldn't this cost more money? Then they just give you a huge chocolate bar when you leave. Also your own personal big pot of good coffee with foamy milk on the side. Room was SUPER nice, really clean, fast wifi, nice bathrooms. Cheapest place in Krems as far as I could tell.

Review 34:No complaints

Review 35:Close to the center of town and train station (5-minute walk), very friendly staff and super clean room. Good breakfast and reasonably priced rate.

Review 36:Everything! The suite was incredibly beautiful, like my dream appartment but without kitchen. And then when we woke up in the morning we had a great breakfast waiting for us.

Review 37:The other rooms did not look so good though.

Review 38:Stayed two nights in the suite on the top floor. The appartment was spacious, with excellent sleep quality. I would higly recommend the suite in Ehrenreich.

Review 39:Hotel elevator went up only one floor, so schlepping our luggage, pillows (we don't like the traditional German/Austrian ones), and laptops, up to our room was a bit challenging.

Review 40:Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the room had a good bed and good shower/tub. Location was very convenient to the historical pedestrian center of Krems.

Review 41:We wish we had planned to to stay longer in this location, but we had to leave.

Review 42:Location was well situated near city center, parking free and convenient, staff attentive and friendly, price was excellent and quantity of food in the morning was very good.

Review 43:A little far from the town. About a 10 to 15 minute walk.

Review 44:Staff was great. Very friendly and very helpful. One of the best experiences we have ever had with a hotel staff.

Review 45:We would have liked the accommodation a little closer to the train station, lugging our bags.

Review 46:We enjoyed the breakfast, able to cater for gluten free. Location close to old city. We appreciated the availabilty of the lift, helpful with our bags.

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Easily accessible from main road through Krems. Free parking available on street outside. Very friendly and helpful family staff and laid back atmosphere. Our room on the second floor had very contemporary decor, large comfortable bed and well-appointed bathroom, including footstool for oldies.Remarkably luxurious buffet breakfast, with a table groaning with fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, and excellent coffee. No evening meals were provided but there are two good restaurants within five minutes' walk.

Review 49:soft bed

Review 50:good place, closed to the centre, no problém with parking, extremly nice staff, early breakfast - start on 6, on request prepared gluten free bread , very good choice

Review 51:I expected Krems to be a more active city. During a weekday evening/night (after 19:00) the center of Krems was like a desert. Everything was closed and dark except a nice restaurant.

Review 52:The hotel is very nice and in a good location for a tour in the Danube valley. Breakfast is very good.

Review 53:We were accommodated in panorama apartment with fantastic terrace and large bathroom. Very kind staff fulfiled all our wishes. Rich breakfast also hadn´t mistake. It was pity we couldn´t use swimmingpool due to cold weather :-)

Review 54:Location was great; right near the main road of Krems. The staff was so friendly and helpful! This hotel was so cozy and had such a nice, classic inn feel. Breakfast was awesome. Rooms were comfortable and clean, and the bathroom had a great soaker tub! You're crazy if you stay anywhere else in Krems; I will definitely be back!

Review 55:lack of air conditioning, difficult to sleep with opened window due to loudly street not very comfortable beds

Review 56:very nice garden on the roof with the pool very good breakfast

Review 57:Rooms very basic and, on the top floor, pretty hot even with a fan.

Review 58:Refreshing pool beautifully located behind the hotel in a field alongside a vineyard.

Review 59:No nets on the bathroom windows which causes large quantities of moths to fly around the room.

Review 60:A very nice hotel very close to the town center yet located on a very quiet street. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast with great variety of food. Cute and comfortable rooms, neat bathrooms.

Review 61:We liked everything about this hotel. Friendly , welcoming, staff. Generous, tasty breakfast. Spacious, clean rooms and a beautiful garden to relax in, with a lovely swimming pool. I'm already planning a return visit.

Review 62:There is more to be expected regarding cleanliness, very cheap breakfast

Review 74:Saknade Air condition i 37 graders värme.

Review 75:Everything was excellent

Review 76:Warm, helpful and efficient welcome; good location, very near old city centre; good provision for bikes.

Review 77:Breakfast

Review 78:They gave us the top floor suite, which is almost as large as our home. The breakfast is simply sumptuous.

Review 79:Desk clerks spoke English and very helpful. Within reasonable walking distance to main attractions.

Review 80:I liked everything. It's a superior place.

Review 81:I felt really looked after.

Review 82:Very helpful and interested staff

Review 83:Didn't see the pool!

Review 84:Alex was so friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and charming, my room was great and the breakfast was good.

Review 85:Although several guests, quiet in rear- facing large room on top floor. Bike storage in garage opposite.

Review 86:Fantastic staff and delicious breakfast. Easy to see why this small hotel has been run by the same family since the 1700s

Review 87:nothing particular

Review 88:breakfast is very well arranged

Review 89:Top of the hotel even though it was quite empty that night.

Review 90:Breakfast & decent hairdryer!

Review 91:Very nice staff!Very helpful!

Review 92:Breakfast was excellent, City in a few minutes walk

Review 93:Walking distance from centre. Modern furnishings. Friendly and helpful staff. Good price

Review 94:Nothing. Everything was OK.

Review 95:Friendly staff. Quiet, clean room. Comfortable bed. Good food.

Review 96:a hard bed,

Review 97:a generous breakfast, an elevator, a plausible distance from a train station, a distance from old town of Krems

Review 98:The hotel is a short walk from the centre of town. Friendly welcoming staff.

Review 99:Great place to stay, comfortable, clean, friendly. Located within easy walking distance of the old city. Great breakfast.

Review 100:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an excellent spread of food.

Review 101:I have no item for this section.

Review 102:Very nice comfortable hotel with excelent staff, great breakfast and good location. Worth of price.

Review 103:Impractical shower head in bathroom.

Review 104:Location and breakfast. Too cold to use the swimming pool but a wonderful facility.

Review 105:WIFI constantly logged me out and it was difficult to get back in. Good throughput when connected.

Review 106:Very quiet and clean. Great beds too.

Review 107:breakfast, (too well) hidden garden (needs better signposting inside hotel)

Review 108:Efficient and friendly family run guesthouse. Quality of finish on the accommodation. Plentiful and early breakfast.

Review 109:A little way outside of Grein

Review 110:Balcony overlooking river Restaurant balcony Breakfast

Review 111:A little distance from city centre and restaurants (say 15 min walk)

Review 112:Swimming pool. Secure covered storage for our bikes

Review 113:Friendly staff Excellent breakfast

Review 114:As it is a hotel we thought there would be more public facilities. It was more like a large Bed & Breakfast with no meals other than the very generous breakfast. Having said that I would still be happy to stay here again.

Review 115:Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Quiet but close to the old town and convenient to the Danube as we were on a cycling holiday. Secure garage too for our bikes which was reassuring.

Review 116:All was quite nice, particularly given the very reasonable price. I would suspect that on hot summer evenings the room could be warm since it has ample windows, but no air conditioning. Most days this should not be a problem.

Review 117:Breakfast was good and this hotel it is a very good value for the money. Nice "secret garden" with swimming pool and beautiful flowers. Great view of the river valley from the garden which is above the hotel. Ancient city is one or two blocks away. Very nice.

Review 118:The breakfasts were excellent and food made for a good day of walking or bike riding. Fresh fruit and produce. The rooms were comfortable and very clean with good showers.

Review 119:Some staff members could have been friendlier, although Alexandra was very sweet and helpful. Also, there are almost no restaurants open in Krems on Sunday, and not many are open on Saturday night.

Review 120:Fantastic breakfast buffet!! We had the suite which was just lovely, with balcony and sauna. The garden was very nice, surrounded by vineyards.

Review 121:Location, just outside the pedestrian city location, very nice. Everything is working really well and looks new. We love the breakfast spread. Great value for wonderful comfort and location.
