Reviews for La Maison de l'Epousée B&B
Review 1:A lovely room in a great location. It was perfect for us with a dog since the room was spacious, and there was space for him to run around outside in the beautiful garden after our long drive.
Review 2:A lovely quiet, comfortable hide-away accommodation with very warm welcome from the owner, including treats for our dog. Located near to town so easy drive to find restaurants and shops. Cheese shop in town excellent.
Review 3:Memory foam mattress - but would be fine for most people (we're very fussy!)
Review 4:Friendly hosts, good welcome, clean, good continental breakfast, peaceful and quiet, yet close to Abbeville - a very friendly and interesting town to explore
Review 5:Very good location for a stop off travelling south. We arrived very late and the owners made arrangements so we could get into our room. Room large with enormous bathroom and shower all spotlessly clean. Lovely fresh breakfast. Owners very kind and welcoming.
Review 6:Nothing - perfect and very good value
Review 7:If you are going to stay in abbéville this is the place to stay. Beautiful setting. Very quaint and the owner is very accommodating and friendly. Lovely dog too!
Review 8:WiFi signal was very weak. Only a big deal if you really needed it.
Review 9:The garden and lake was lovely. The lady of the house was very accommodating allowing food to be brought to the premises if you wished. Provided numerous ideas for interesting visits and suggestions for restaurants.
Review 10:Very friendly reception (we speak French, which may have helped). Excellent facilities and location (close to town but you'd think you were in the country), with a very good breakfast. Dog-friendly.
Review 11:This was not just a room but like a two room house. The furnishings and fittings were excellent. The country setting was fabulous. A pleasant 30 walk into town gave great options for eating.
Review 12:I can't say I didn't like it, but I found the wifi connection was not very strong, I was only there for 1 night so not really a problem.
Review 13:I liked the location in respect of Road links to Both North and South and also for places to eat
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:The style decor and comfort of the bedroom and its en suite. The superb breakfast The helpfulness of the owners in recommending and booking for us an excellent restaurant which was open on a winters Sunday evening
Review 16:We enjoyed the warm welcome from Katerine and Serge and very comfortable surroundings at Maison L'Epousee. Not only is this a great place to break the journey between Paris and Calais, but the town of Abbeville is an attractive place to spend a day or so enjoying a vibrant town centre and the beautifully restored gothic architecture of St Vulfran which had been badly damaged in the second world war.
Review 17:Access to main road concealed, but it did not bother us
Review 18:Quiet location, room with character.Log fire in breakfast room. Friendly and helpful hosts. Easy parking.
Review 19:Room was pretty but low angled beams impedes anyone over 5' tall. Bit pricey for a B&B without bar or restaurant
Review 20:Couple were lovely and helpful with good breakfast
Review 21:Nothing to dislike.
Review 22:24 hour access with excellent parking. Room had very good facilities with a large comfortable bed. Wonderful breakfast and very helpful host and hostess throughout our 5 night stay.
Review 23:Warm welcome by owners, even greeted our dog with biscuits. Breakfast was superb and plentiful and typical of a continental style. Ensuite room was cozy and the shower just like ours at home. Town easy to reach with shops, cafés and walks, restaurant to close by too.
Review 24:No WiFi but not really a problem.
Review 25:Location Room and bathroom Peace and Quiet Surroundings Ability to walk around Breakfast set up, location and food Great price Very hospitable hosts
Review 26:There was nothing at all you would complain about.
Review 27:This was only a one night stopover. It has an out of this world setting, tucked away and set in beautiful grounds, just 2km from centre of Abbeville. The complete suite was very pleasing, beautifully clean and comfortable, with an exceptional breakfast and wonderful family owners. We will be back again for a longer stay, so we can enjoy it more. It is worth crossing over to France just to stay at this superb facility.
Review 28:Booking a second room for children only to find two extra beds upstairs in the first room. Being asked to pay cash when the booking was made using credit card. Aberville is not worth seeing although a decent base for other towns of interest.
Review 29:Nice garden and outside space to have a drink. Lots of effort gone into creating nice rooms and breakfast eg jams etc.
Review 30:The owner was away so her brother and his wife were looking after us. Although there was a bit of a language barrier, they were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable, the setting was beautiful. Would recommend to anyone!
Review 31:We loved everything about the whole place and would have stayed longer had we not going on to my son's to stay with him. Pity it was a damp day when we were there but it was so calm and the lovely grounds were a delight.

Review 37:great welcome from owner, who offered us wonderful continental breakfast, all home made yoghurts and preserves. Wonderful grounds tor walking and sitting. We were made to feel at home throughout four night stay. Lots of wonderful places to visit on the coast.
Review 38:Not easy to find.....My built in (new) sat nav did not have the street (only the town) After a phone call the owner came in her car to show me the way. Not many would do that. Thank you.
Review 39:What a surprise! Home from home..The owners have created a comfortable cottage style accommodation..A first class breakfast mostly home produced. Highly recommended.

Review 68:The breakfasts are very expensive although there was plenty of choice
Review 69:Air conditioning was lovely as were the staff
Review 70:Nothing. I wish we'd stayed longer.
Review 71:This place is amazing. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and well appointed. The surroundings are fabulous (it helped we had sunny weather) and the owners are friendly, helpful and justifiably proud of what they have created. The breakfast is to die for! 10/10 from me!
Review 72:NOTHING
Review 73:Everything was perfect from decor to breakfast. Made very welcome also our dog ruby was spoilt. Would recommend to anybody and could not fault it. Perfection Cindy and Graham Bewes and Ruby
Review 74:The host and hostess are completely charming. The room airy and very comfortable. The bed was not only comfortable - it was big! The breakfast sheer delight. May I comment on the person who said that 'cash only' should have been mentioned on the web page - it was. We had the cash for the night set aside, thanks to the website.
Review 75:Had to drive to town for evening meal. Nothing available in walking distance.
Review 76:It was a lovely experience, like staying in a French home. The owners tried very hard to make us welcome. Very quiet room and gardens are beautiful.
Review 77:Excellent location in woodland on the outskirts of Abbeville and within easy reach of the motorway system. Breakfast is one of the best we've had in France. We were travelling with a small dog and all three of us were made very welcome. The chalet-type rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. One nice touch was a bowl of dog biscuits. We have stayed here before and the quality of service is consistently high. Highly recommended.
Review 78:Absolute nothing
Review 79:Location. On the very edge of town, but very close to the motorway if you wish to visit elsewhere. The site is beautiful - if you didn't know better you would think you were right in the heart of the country. The accommodation is what anyone could ever ask for. The breakfast is to die for. The hosts are the most delightful and caring couple you could ever hope to meet. If you are thinking of booking in this area, please don't hesitate BOOK IT.
Review 80:The wi-fi reception was very weak and reception not good. We were in the end room which is probably too far away from the router. The 89 euro room price is at the higher end of what should be charged and so the wi-fi needs to be resolved.
Review 81:Very nice, well appointed and modern room with nice grounds. Easy to find with sat nav and only an hour from the chunnel. The breakfast provided was outstanding and the hostess very friendly and helpful
Review 82:Being welcomed by Catherine when late and tired and very quickly relaxing in a lovely warm and comfortable room. Lovely breakfast in our room as we were leaving early for Calais.
Review 83:My wife and I had an excellent overnight stay after arriving from England and then another two weeks later on the return journey. The accommodation is easy to find set in woodland on the outskirts of Abbeville. We, together with our small dog, were made very welcome. The room was warm and comfortable; Outside the wind howled and the rained poured whilst inside all was cosy. The breakfast was excellent; probably the best I've had in France. Highly recommended.
Review 84:Abbeville was virtually shut on a Sunday in February. No restaurants available
Review 85:Catherines greeting after a day driving from Yorkshire. The dog friendly accommodation. Excellent breakfast with a log fire burning and attentive hosts
Review 86:This was a perfect place to stay for us as we were enroute from the Channel Tunnel to Portugal and it is a beautiful setting in the forest. We were made most welcome although we were earlier than expected and the accomodation is first class, very comfortable and spotless. Our dog loved it too which makes our life so much easier. Top marks all round.
Review 87:Absolutely everything! Lovely ski type chalet wonderfully decorated, warm and cosy. BIG shower, tea/coffee making facilities that were very welcome. Lots of little touches to make you feel welcome. The dogs we took settled down immediately - well - once they had finished the snacks that they found in the room!! The whole area is lovely - lots of space to enjoy and even a small lake (thank goodness the dogs didn't go in there!). The owners are so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us.
Review 88:On a dark and chilly December evening we were greeted by Madam with a warm reception and a lovely cosy gite. Beautifully equipped and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. This is a good place to either stop off for the Channel crossing but also for a longer stay. I am sure we will be back. Madam deserves her high ratings.
Review 89:A little difficult to find if you don't have directions, My map showed a road but it is really just a dirt track
Review 90:The welcome from the owner the room the breakfast the surroundings
Review 91:Everything. The comments by Jennifer - Les Essards say it all We have been looking for somewhere to stay on our regular trips between the U.K. and France and have now found the perfect place. Hopefully, next time we shall manage more than one night!!
Review 92:Only one thing really, and it is absolutely nothing to do with La Maison de L'Epousee, rather it is something we have come up against in France before - National Holidays..... There was a time, about forty years ago, when journeying south or west from Calais, your journey took you through Abbeville, but with the advent of the motorway now you are fortunate to even catch a glimpse of some rooftops as the motorway by-passes the town. So, after days of visiting other resorts and villages in the area we decided to spend our last full day sightseeing in Abbeville itself. Unfortunately we forgot about the All Saints Holiday and 'France', never mind Abbeville was shut for the day. Still, at least we got a fairly crowd-free wander about the town but without the shopping experience - maybe next year.
Review 93:Catherine and her Husband were charming hosts, they could not do enough for their guests. They have an extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and could advise on what was available to do, where best to visit/eat etc. The room we had was warm, roomy and very comfortable with everything we needed laid on. Breakfasts were fantastic with lots of home made jams and juices from their own orchard to top off the usual excellent French croissants, pain-au-chocolat and baguettes provided. Cold meat and cheeses too were on the menu. La Maison de L'Epousee is situated right on the outrskirts of Abbeville and is well placed for an overnight stop en route to or from the Channel ports. But, to stop only for one night is to miss so much that is available locally. Within a thirty mile radius there are many seaside towns and villages with excellent beaches, wildlife reserves and many excellent walking and cycling areas. All in all, La Maison de L'Epousee is a relaxing and peaceful place to stay. We would thoroughly recommend it and we will be back again, perhaps earlier in the year, to better enjoy the extensive gardens with its small lake and stream.
Review 94:The host was very welcoming and friendly, the room was a wonderful mixture of nature and the outdoors, it reminded us of being in a mountain cabin, Fantastic, and the breakfast was wonderful.
Review 95:Directions to the place could be improved to indicate that it is out of town, and should include from town centre as well as from A16.
Review 96:Clean, spacious, comfortable, attractive setting, friendly helpful hosts, fabulous breakfast.
Review 97:Abbeville isn't the prettiest town in France and there seems to be a lack of eateries. But the location of the B&B is very pretty.
Review 98:We had a good welcome even though we were a bit early. The grounds are beautiful and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fine. The owner very kindly posted back to us my husband's shirt that he had carelessly left behind! Thank you so much. Recommended.
Review 99:Lovely room and location, very quiet. Really good breakfast including homemade jams and fruit juice. Only stayed one night as a stop over but would use again.
Review 100:Sylvette who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. She was standing in for her sister in law who was on vacation for two weeks. Her husband ce over to meet us later and we all shared some bubbly. Very nice and friendly people in a very restful spot just outside Abbeville.
Review 101:Not a thing.
Review 102:The setting was superb along with the hosts. Our limited French was not a problem the owners were only too pleased to help us through with everything. A great first night in France.
Review 103:Could not fault.
Review 104:Everything, hospitality, quiet location, character well fitted/furnished rooms Excellent homemade breakfast. A truly enjoyable stay.
Review 105:There was absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 106:The amazing property, style of decor, building, comfort, uniqueness, the owner, welcome recieved, the breakfast.
Review 107:Only a very minor point, but, although there was free Wi-fi, the internet was a bit patchy.
Review 108:Without doubt one of the best B&Bs that we have stayed in. A peaceful haven set in the most beautiful grounds. Our room was beautifully decorated and equipped and the owners could not have been more friendly or helpful, suggesting places to visit and eat out. Lovely continental breakfast with many home-made items.
Review 109:La Maison de l'Epousée B&B is a haven of peace just a few minutes away from Abbeville. We used this as a stopover while travelling North to Belgium and what a relaxing place it was. Our hosts were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and much of it home-made. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful. We have already recommended the stop to friends and family. If you get the chance to stay here, do not miss it.
Review 110:Very minor point. Needed good internet speed for business purposes, sadly not available. Would gladly pay for additional speed, please, this is not a criticsm.
Review 111:Bed was a bit soft for us, but that's personal.
Review 112:Very friendly and helpful owners. Comfortable, well equipped room, decorated as if in an alpine ski resort, and nice garden to stroll round or just sit in. Quiet, peaceful location, and good continental breakfast.
Review 113:A little bit out of the way, and not walking distance to any restaurants/bars. However we were only there for one night so it wasn't a major problem.
Review 114:Spacious and comfortable rooms. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Lovely breakfast! Will definitely stay here again as a stopover en route to other areas of France.
