Reviews for Chambres d'Hôtes L'Ostal de Pombonne

Review 1:The owners were charming. Stayed up to welcome us at 10pm (2 hours after regular closing time). The room was lovely, comfortable bed and good breakfast. Private parking very helpful.

Review 2:Nothing.

Review 3:Very welcoming hosts, helpful and attentive. The room (magnolias), was very spacious, light and airy, warm and inviting. Loved having a private entrance. Easy to find and good parking. Fab that breakfast was included in the price, and lots on offer to suit different tastes. Loved the open fire in breakfast room, perfect on a cold day. More than we could have hoped for.

Review 4:Every aspect was PERFECT

Review 5:Anne our host gave us such a welcome on meeting us at the airport; she answered all our questions and went out of her way to make our stay perfect in every way. Nothing was too much trouble to her. A perfect location.

Review 8:Very personalised service in a lovely country cottage environment with separate guest entrance leading to quiet pretty garden.

Review 9:This is a perfect location for Bergerac and surrounding locations. It's 5 mins in to town city by car, 2 mins to supermarket. Very quiet and Anne does a great job. Nothing is too much, she gives you a good breakfast and gives you good suggestions for the day.

Review 10:We had been to Bergerac before, so had seen the town, just wanted a stop over, which was perfect, but it is little out of town.

Review 11:The Magnolia room was fabulous, plumbing good, very clean, hostess very hospitable. Breakfast good, with homemade cakes and biscuits.

Review 12:Our room had continuous pipe noise during the night, heating perhaps?

Review 13:Easy location to reach with plenty of space for parking and a beautiful garden. Anne was very friendly and there's a lovely restaurant (La Flambee) nearby.

Review 14:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 15:We both felt very comfortable and relaxed. Our hosts Anne and Christophe ensured that we had everything possible that we might need and were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Our rooms were really clean and comfortable.

Review 16:friendliness of the hosts; its location; plentiful breakfast and its variety; the standard of accommodation and facilities provided; on-site secure parking

Review 17:The rooms were quiet and attractive and fresh. There was a large outdoor area to use with various seating areas. The walking in the immediate vicinity of the Property was quite delightful with very pretty country roads being surrounded by vineyards. It was a real treat to go walking each evening. The hostess was wonderful.

Review 18:It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The proprietor was extremely helpful, welcoming and made excellent suggestions and recommendations. The property was beautiful, peaceful, easy to get to and we would certainly recommend a visit.

Review 19:Secure parking, really lovely welcoming owners, lovely pool and grounds - really family friendly. Absolutely spotless and stylish room, wifi and the yummiest breakfast we had in France!!

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:We had a lovely stay, very relaxing and the hosts catered to all our needs. Breakfast was the highlight of our stay with home cooked cakes and breads.

Review 22:The house is amazing. Ann and cristoff are wonderful hosts. Breakfast is fantastic with homemade jam and cakes. Free bikes to use which we took advantage of. The pool is also very good. We loved it here and hope to return .

Review 23:Staying at Chambres d'Hôtes L'Ostal de Pombonne near Bergerac has been one of the more enjoyable experiences of our trip to Europe. Anne, the owner, could not have done more for us and the whole place had a wonderful community feeling to it whilst still respecting our privacy.

Review 24:Anne and Cristophe were excellent hosts, they made us feel very welcome and were exceedingly helpful. We stayed in the Magnolias and could not fault the room for either elegance or comfort. The accommodation is well located and with your own transport is in very easy reach of Bergerac, Chateaux Monbazillac, the fascinating medieval towns and villages in the Bergerac hinterland and lovely wooded hills with great walks to the north.

Review 25:Very nice room, USA East coast decoration which is unusual in France, simple and nice cool colours. Very clean, excellent breakfast - best croissants I've tasted in a long time, home made jams and cakes all nicely presented. Very pleasent & helpful couple running the L'Ostel du Pombonne.

Review 26:Would have liked lighting outside after sundown in order to have a glass of wine outdoors when returning after meal

Review 27:Personal attention of owner first class Everything in rooms very clean Very nice gardens and environment

Review 28:Watch your head if you take the upstairs chamber! Very clean and bright however.

Review 29:Anne could not do enough for her guests, and her husband is most friendly and proved to be a first-class chef for the once-a-week evening meal. Anne a mine of information on places to visit. Swimming-pool good size. Located on outskirts of Bergerac so no need to fight traffic through town. Book early!

Review 30:Slightly further from Bergerac than we expected but manageable and a huge thanks to Anne for lifts in.

Review 31:Anne is a brilliant hostess, couldn't have done more for us and has created a beautiful haven to stay at! Home baked food and fresh bread & croissants daily for the best breakfasts we've had. A great end to our holiday!

Review 32:This is irrelevant when talking about this accommodation

Review 33:I couldn't have wished for a more pleasurable, comfortable place to stay. My host couldn't have been kinder or more helpful and I will return.

Review 34:Very warm and helpful staff, plenty of free extra features (huge garden, swimming pool, bicycles, maps etc). Quiet and green location on short distance of Bergerac centre (reachable via the park i/o busy road). Room was very romantic, with lot of wooden beams.

Review 35:The accommodation was excellent as was the welcome. Breakfast was copious with little treats such as madeleines made by the owner's daughter. I would thoroughly recommend it and will be going back again.

Review 36:This ostal is everything that you want after a long day visiting Bergerac and the castle around. We were received by the daughter of the couple (Anne and Christophe) and were amaze by her good manner and professionalism even at her age. The breakfast is really good and Anne ensure to fill any empty glass on the table. If you want to have a good night of sleep in a friendly pace, this is the one in Bergerac.

Review 37:If you like to explore, it would be best to hire/ take your car to get around the area more easily since there are many beautiful areas to see in the Dordogne region. There is a train station near by - perhaps 15/ 20 minutes walk but it was on strike when we arrived.

Review 38:People usually like to write when there is something to complain about. In this case, its the opposite. The lady running this place was courteous, and incredibly hospitable. She made our stay here in Bergerac as comfortable as possible. The place we stayed in had 2 bedrooms joined together, spacious rooms, coffee/ tea making facilities, 2 large sinks in a nice sized bathroom (making it easier to sterilise baby bottles in one while we could use the other for our hygiene needs)/ It was very clean, had comfortable beds and a nice powerful shower. She went to the effort of providing a cot, a baby bath for my friend's 11 month old and even gave us lifts into Bergerac town itself.

Review 39:Only a very small point and it did not spoil our stay in any way, but the link in the link bed was slightly uncomfortable - a mattress topper would solve it

Review 40:The room was brilliant. The host Anne was really wonderful. The breakfast was very good indeed. Anne couldn't do enough for us, extremely friendly and helpful - highly recommended!

Review 41:Everything was perfect! The room was really nice, clean and confortable; the owners were really nice and the breakfast was good and homemade; I suggest this B&B!

Review 42:What a find! Wonderful hosts and a beautiful home! Probably best bed we've slept in for a long time and most we've ever eaten for breakfast! We are definitely returning!

Review 43:Nothing, less mobile patrons may find the upstairs room's stairs challenging as well as the exposed beams.

Review 44:everything was superb. The internet external wire was cut by workers, the owner purchased a mobile wifi kit to ensure our connectivity!

Review 45:We loved everything

Review 46:We loved our room so spacious, crisp, clean and beautifully renovated. We found the host Anne very friendly, with lots of tips for the area and lovely to deal with. We loved exploring the nearby picturesque walking areas.

Review 47:Leaving!

Review 48:Everything... the room (in the attic) was beautiful and the bed was incredibly comfortable - I didn't want to get out of it! Breakfast was fantastic and Anne was so helpful and friendly. Beautiful place!

Review 49:Very low roof beam (converted roof space) No shower Poor signal on wifi

Review 50:Character accommodation Very hospitable owner Relaxed, comfortable Excellent breakfast Good value Good location Swimming pool Local wines and wineries

Review 51:This reminded me of 'The Darling Buds of May' programme where all was 'perfik'. Everything positive that was said in the feedback is true. The setting, host Anne etc. She couldn't do enough for us and when she found out it was my birthday produced a bottle of wine which was shared with the other guests plus more wine around the pool. The Magnolia room was spacious and comfy. The whole ambience was exactly as expected and needed. The garden was a 'cottage' style and breakfast was in the true French style with homemade jam and cakes. Thanks you so very much for an amazing 3 days.

Review 52:Everything Room and facilities were great, nice location, nice pool and area, best bit was hostess - nothing too much trouble a really lovely lady. We will be back

Review 53:Absolutely nothing to "not like". This is a wonderful place to stay in the Bergerac area.

Review 54:Everything about it was charming!! The owners helped us make arrangements to do English speaking wine tours, deal with laundry midway through our trip, and were basically wonderful the entire visit. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The room was cool enough that we didn't need a fan or the windows open (even in early September). The family has a friendly dog and two cats that made us feel at home as well!

Review 55:The hosts were a wonderful couple who couldn't do enough to please us. Breakfast was amazing, particularly the home made jam. Our room was very romantic, spotlessly clean and very, very comfortable. Lovely pool area and gardens. Overall a great place to stay and ten out of ten from us.

Review 56:Nothong

Review 57:Beautifully appointed bedroom, very spacious and with modern bathroom facilities The owner was a charming and likeable hostess No parking problems

Review 58:An absolutely lovely B & B! Great breakfasts and wonderful accommodation. We felt like it was a home from home and incredibly relaxing. We were made to feel so welcome and would definitely like to stay there again.

Review 59:In typical French style, the gardens could have had a bit of attention but this didn't really detract from the lovely people and the character of the home.

Review 60:we had a lovely room, comfortable bed and it was very quiet. Ann the hostess was amazing, very friendly, spoke good English although I insisted on practicing my French - she was very patient.

Review 61:Anne was a fantastic host, very helpful and obliging, and spoke excellent English. Our room was great in every respect and she provided a beautiful breakfast. The swimming pool was an added bonus.

Review 62:Anne and Christophe, their family, the dog, the cats, the whole place. And the food and wine. And the company of the other guests. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Convenient for Bergerac and especially the excellent vinyards surrounding L'Ostal - some within walking distance. Excellent base for touring the area.

Review 63:Lack of a TV but only because we wanted to watch the French Open tennis. Otherwise we wouldn't have missed it.

Review 64:This is a gem made very special by the personal attention given by Anne who did everything one could expect from a host. Our room was huge and very comfortable but with the weather good we spent little time in it during the day. Breakfast under the vines was substantial and very satisfying while one night Anne arranged for Christopher to cook our group of four a delicious meal for a very reasonable charge served al fresco. Our three night stay was too short and I have no hesitation in giving this establishment 10 out of 10.
