Reviews for Chateau du Clos de la Ribaudiere
Review 1:Air conditioner in room was very noisy even when not on. Beautiful chateaux that has lost some appeal through the conversions to a hotel and function centre.
Review 2:Restaurant was fantastic
Review 3:Risky stopover treat - first time in a hotel with three young children aged between 5 and 8 years old, made to feel very welcome, wonderful food, great facilities - linked rooms, excellent playground next to the hotel grounds and decent pool. Would definitely go again.
Review 4:only complainant was that the food took too long to come. it wasn't an especially busy night (- 90% of outdoor space was used, only about 10% of indoor restaurant was occupied) ... two dinner seating times - we took the early one at 7pm. But we didn't get coffee till 11.15pm... bit much for 5 and 3 yr old?! there was apparently a prob in the kitchen that night, which they told me at around 9.30pm, when i politely asked what was going on. my main steak came out without the foie gras that was meant to accompany it. they did wave the supplement cost of 7Euros because of this error.. Real shame, as food was superb... they just need to pay more attention to the timings of each table - esp ones with kids, who are on a time limit! Also, must mention that when asked upon leaving whether we had a pleasant stay, (the manager being present behind the receptionist at the time) and I said, yes but no but, and explained how long our meal had taken, not once did the manager apologise / make eye contact with me etc... little shabby. In an establishment that wants to be what it wants to be, the manager would have apologised immediately / offered to give us something on the house.... just saying!!
Review 5:Fab hotel. great location 10 mins off autoroute. lovely staff. SUPERB food. nice little pool - adults can touch the bottom all the way, kids can mostly stand for 1/2 of it. free use of pool towels. free wifi. beautiful setting. very tranquil and romantic - air of opulence despite being a small chateau.
Review 6:The size of our original room which was changed immediately when we expressed our disappointment. The room size was not shown clearly in the booking procedure. There are no tea making facilities in the room
Review 7:Friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Quality of the food, location in a pretty area.
Review 8:Breakfast on Sunday morning was a fiasco. No tables laid up or cleared. No cutlery, plates or glasses so we had to go off searching for some in the main dining room. We saw others struggling too. Lots of food had run out so we had to ask for fresh supplies.
Review 9:Great room and very quiet in a lovely small village close to Poitiers. Lovely swimming pool and it was very clean.
Review 10:Wifi system why not work with just an acces code. It is laying so remote so why use such an user unfriendly system.
Review 11:Amazing location. Wonderful food and wine. Female staff all speak very good english and are very friendly, always wanting to help you.
Review 12:Breakfast could be better.
Review 13:We where 3 adults and 7 kids and we had a wonderful stay. Staff was great and tolerated that our kids played around... the outside garden and space was great for our little easter egg hunt. The restaurant was really good.
Review 14:The breakfast area was disappointing. It did not reflect the feeling of elegance and style created by the rest of the Chateau.
Review 15:Comfortable room with nice view of garden. Very appealing reception, lounge area. Good restaurant for evening meal. Helpful staff. Convenient free car park.
Review 16:Everything was great
Review 17:Although the hotel is a bit out of the way , it is worth the visit. The hotel and grounds are exceptional and the staff very professional. The food is Michelin quality in taste and presentation. The pool area and chateau grounds are quiet and relaxing
Review 18:We had the same room as last year ( must be the Bookings.Com room ) There are no blackout blinds and there is a floodlight outside the window.Room directly over staff preparation area so woken at 0630 hrs with staff preparing for breakfast. Air Con not working.
Review 19:Restaurant is very nice with excellent menu choices with a high quality presentation.
Review 20:No coffee/tea facilities in the room, but they were happy to pop a tray to the room (bonus being it comes with a little tray of petit fours, so no hardship!). Be forewarned, the hotel has a habit of putting breakfasts on the bill, whether you eat them or not.
Review 21:The location, hidden away alongside the river, in a lovely little town, but close to the main road into Poitiers. The view from the rooms (No. 43 and No.29) over the swimming pool. The outside terrace area, well furnished and attractive. The lovely pond and gardens. The excellent food; beautifully presented and delicious. The staff, always happy to help.
Review 22:A bit of a struggle to find a decent room from the eclectic choice offered.
Review 23:The public areas, both inside and out, and the dining room. Dinner very good quality, and served elegantly
Review 24:Food was expensive and service slow
Review 25:We booked a suite that had church like stained glass windows so no view - we were pleasantly relocated to a large room overlooking the swimming pool. Futuroscope is a must visit place.
Review 26:The annexe bedrooms were awful really took away from what might have been a nice place to stay. Cheap bedroom furniture is not something you expect from a chateaux!
Review 27:Didn't quite meet up to expectations
Review 28:Well located for our purposes
Review 29:Very good place to stop on the way south
Review 30:The location and appearance. The food was excellent.

Review 35:Reception staff was wonderful and they went to great lengths to provide us with info about places to go with our dog. Dinner was excellent.
Review 36:Beautiful location and glorious building. Sad to only be passing by and not to enjoy the sumptuous setting. Would love to return.

Review 43:Fantastic Food
Review 44:Nothing
Review 45:Everything
Review 46:Location and table perfect
Review 47:Annex was a little expensive considering it wasnt in the main house. Lack of style etc
Review 48:Food and service at dinner
Review 49:Rooms small, but fair VFM
Review 50:Peaceful, excellent restaurant, good stop over, second visit
Review 51:It seemed a little short staffed and the breakfast is expensive for what is essentially a pretty simple buffet
Review 52:The suite was excellent and the grounds are lovely
Review 53:The manager at reception who also doubled as a waiter was rude andobnoxious and made the stay very unpleasant. First room offered (number6) is unacceptable below ground level looking out at a drain cover. Thepassageways have old bedding stored with blankets covering them! A poormake over of rooms done on a low budget some years ago.
Review 54:The food is very good.
Review 55:breakfast was awful hot food was cold fresh friut salad and prepared fresh fruit looked like it had been prepared days before
Review 56:the rooms are fine staff friendly, dinner excellent
Review 57:The room it was assigned to us was dirty, dark, and located on the quarters level. Very dissapointing specially since the hotel was empty and the had all the rooms in the main floors vacant. The room was so poorly located that the. Wi-fi or mobile signal were non-existant. They did not have any English speaking person in the morning, they claimed he/she will arrive at 15:00hrs.
Review 58:Food at the restaurant was very good. The staff was friendly.
Review 59:Room was odd for one of the best rooms in the hotel . Chairs uncomfortable in the room. Overall room not comfortable. Pillows and quilts , not what they should be for a hotel of this price. Restaurant food Ok but very bright , no atmosphere .
Review 60:Room rather small and poor sound insulation. Double bed not really large enough for couple - more suitable for one conference attendee. Restaraunt food too fancy for overnight guests. Breakfast choices limited.
Review 61:Ambience and reception OK. Reasonably near autoroute intersection. Nice grounds.
Review 62:Our toilet had no wash hand basin and you had to walk around to the bathroom to wash your hands.
Review 63:The grounds were delightful and beautifully laid out. The menus offered excellent choice and the catering was of the highest standard in both presentation and quality.
Review 64:The hotel is charming and peaceful. It has been refurbished during the last year retaining its style. The restuarant is excellent good enough in fact to influence our decision on where to stay. Convenient location close to motorway but actually in a sleepy village. Well worth a visit.
