Reviews for Les Olivades

Review 1:No evident alternate eatery nearby. But we only spent one night and it was fine

Review 2:Staff,facilities,the room (executive double), the restauant (a bit pricey but very good kitchen!). Really nothing to complain about if you don't mind staying away from downtown Gap.

Review 3:Everything was excellent. The location is a bit out of town but that suited our needs. The food in the restaurant was excellent and all staff were very helpful.

Review 4:Loved the hotel, friendly staff and whole ambience. Room was good however it had low ceilings which were awkward. Food very nice - would definitely return.

Review 5:The hotel looks scruffy and untidy. The room was lacking in soft furnishings and smelled of damp and fumes from the kitchen exhaust vent outside the window. The second room was jsut as bad. Dinner was a disaster but was not charged for.

Review 6:Breakfast was good

Review 7:We have reserveret a superior double room. The picture at the webside show that there is terrasse or balcony at superior double room. When we arrive we got a room without terrasse or balcony. We got a room with small windows and no view. We were told that through booking.com we would not get a room with terrasse or balcony. If we had know that we had never made a reservation.

Review 8:COFFEE AT BREAKFAST IS LOUSY.Breakfast room size unsufficient, definitely too small, even for few guests.

Review 9:Klein und schnuckelig//very cosy.Nice amenities in the rooms.

Review 10:The first room we were offered we did not like, but we were transferred into a very Zen room with an excellent terrace

Review 11:Friendly staff, particularly Gregoire who recommended that we take the Route Napoleon to Cannes, which was spectacular. Thank you!

Review 12:GPS directed us to turnoff, but there was no number or sign on any of the three roads there, so we had difficulty finding the property. Due to a medical emergency we had to cancel our first of two nights. We were charged for that night and felt that Grègoire was rather cold and unsympathetic.

Review 13:Air conditioned, light filled comfortable room with nice terrace. Quiet, country setting with trees around property.

Review 14:Peaceful and welcoming. After a long day of driving, we were easily able to relax and unwind. The room was well sized and well appointed. We had dinner at the restaurant, the food was excellent, well presented and fresh. We would have loved to stay longer.

Review 15:Breakfast is a bit skimpy but that is expected of a continental breakfast.

Review 16:We have a short overnight stop over. Despite the short stay, we were pleasantly surprised. It is a nice little cottage style hotel. Expecting the interior to be more "traditional" but we found it to be modern and relatively new. Room is comfortable and nicely done up with the exception of the slanting roof which is a bit distracting for taller guests. We also had dinner at the restaurant. Indeed like many reviewers have mentioned, the service is slower than average. Since we do not have other plans for the evening, we did not mind the wait. Food wise, it was good and the lamb is worth the wait. Staff service is warm and they try their best to make us feel welcome. All in all, it was a excellent stay. If you enjoy waking up in nature and morning walks in the woods, this is the place for you.

Review 17:Hotel a bit pricey. Service in Restaurant slightly unprofessional (Wine got poured into Waterglass, i was give a choice of the two menus of the day but it wasn't mentioned, that there is as well a regular card etc.). CD with House-Music was not working properly. After another guest asked to check on that they switched it off for a minute just to switch it on again and turn up the volume, so we ALL could hear how the cd was not working... After 1.5 hours it was really annoying ...and a pitty, as the food was really quite good.

Review 18:very clean and modern room. all looks new and is functional (Air-Condition, automatic window blinds...) Restaurant good price/value. Nice young team (in need of some proper training)

Review 19:everything was really great

Review 20:the young man at the front desk was really great at his job. We ate in the restaurant which was delicious but limited in choice as it was a Sunday, but what we ate was very good. Beautiful location highly recommend staying here

Review 21:A bit of a walk to town if you are not up to that sort of thing. Not many good restaurants in the direct neighbourhood.

Review 22:The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was adequate, the room was comfortable and it was good to be able to make a cup of tea. The shutters which you can close at night make for an excellent sleep in a very dark room.

Review 23:We loved everything!

Review 24:We loved staying at Les Olivades. Operated by a warm and friendly young couple, they greeted you like family. Ami, both at the reception desk and in their 5 star restaurant, (so delicious!), follows in their footsteps at trying to make your stay enjoyable. Newly remodeled, their rooms are clean and open out onto balconies overlooking the lovely countryside. Everything was spotless. The owners gave great attention to detail in the rooms, coordinating their colors in the soft grey and white area. We had a corner room, room 28, with a charming window on one wall and doors opening onto the balcony on another. We loved the room. We ate in the dining room and had one of the best meals during our French travels. They are soooo accommodating when it comes to their dining room and food. If you just want soup (?) for your evening meal, fine, that will be the best soup you'll have ever had. If you just want the entrée, lovely, you need not have anything more. Often, after being out all day touring, you might have eaten a sizeable lunch and at night not require a large dinner. Fine. You can have whatever you want at the restaurant in Les Oliveades. Seriously consider staying here outside of Gap. You'll only be a few minutes from town, but luxury will be at your doorstep. The restaurant may be the best in Gap. We loved staying at this wonderful, marvelous, hotel/restaurant.

Review 25:Service extremely slow, it ruined our meal both nights. Rather pretentious design throughout. Complete lack of guest information in room - no advice from staff on hotel's facilities. Breakfast not up to evening meal standard. No alpine view from our room!

Review 26:Quality of food for evening meal. Quiet and peaceful. Easy car parking.

Review 27:A little hard to find but not as hard as some other reviewers have noted. There is a sign at the entrance on the right side of the roadway as you are coming from Gap

Review 28:Very friendly staff! Nice quiet location outside of Gap. Nice views of the Mountains in the distance. They have a very good quality restaurant which is very handy since they are outside of town. Note: The hotel receptionists spoke English but the restaurant staff did not. The menu is in French only, but the hotel receptionist was kind enough to translate the menu and take our orders.

Review 29:Our room only had sliding doors so opening the window at night was difficult from a security point of view. However, we did open it eventually as we got fed up with the air conditioning. Several of the plates at dinner had chips in them. This may have been because there was a big party in one area of the restaurant. It is a detail that should be looked into.

Review 30:The decor is modern but interesting and the room was very comfortable. The restaurant produces some very tasty, good quality food. The wines were wonderful. The staff were all very helpful and determined to make you feel welcome.

Review 31:A superior room should potentially have a bath. Was slightly noisy during the night with 'mechanical' noises, unexplained!!

Review 32:Setting and newly installed swimming pool excellent. Room well finished and designed. Lovely breakfast and superb views

Review 33:Had to wait a long time for service and food in restaurant despite reserving, and table was in the bar not restaurant (lack of ambiance)! Breakfast room and food choice poor - more like budget hotel.

Review 34:Helpful and pleasant staff. Comfortable Room, but overlooking car park. Restaurant food excellent.

Review 35:This is a lovely small hotel that we had a one night stopover. Recently renovated ,the rooms were small but charming. the staff were all very friendly . We had a meal in the lovely restaurant and it was very good. A little hard to find without GPS.

Review 36:the restaurant is not yet up to par for hotel and price. Chef and staff need to get their act together if they want repeat customers

Review 37:the front staff were knowledgeable and helpful

Review 38:Weather, as it rained in the morning. But this has nothing to do with the hotel and... it was obliterated by an excellent breakfast

Review 39:Rural but lovely and charming location Unsolicited upgrade of room. Courtesy of all staff. Very good dinner , despite the fact that restaurant was unexpectedly crowded.

Review 40:Need a signpost on both sides of entrance , we drove past it .

Review 41:Impressed with decor & the welcome ,& the food in fact everything . A big function going on & it didn't intrude on our enjoyment .

Review 42:The breakfast room was small, would have been nice to have eaten breakfast in the garden.

Review 43:Nice hotel, recently renovated, unfortunately we didn't use the facilities much as only there for 2 nights to do the mountain passes.

Review 44:The old coffee capsule was remaining inside coffee maker and also the coffee maker was dirty.

Review 45:The wild location.

Review 46:The friendliness of Management

Review 47:Staff was really nice, restaurant was excellent, location was quiet and good, our room was big and confortable.

Review 48:Good location, peaceful, nice terrace though unfortunately in the shade

Review 49:The staff was really helpful, friendly, and provided us with great suggestions of activities in the area.

Review 50:Nice place

Review 51:it's a lovely place! Nice and quiet! staff we're very friendly and the chefs were brilliant. great meals

Review 52:Splendid contemporary hotel. All the staff went out of their way to make us welcome and at ease. Probably the best hotel we have stayed at.

Review 53:nothing

Review 54:ambiance nd friendly young staff

Review 55:Friendly and helpful staff. Stylish and comfortable. Set in scenic grounds above Gap. Excellent restaurant.

Review 56:The excellent dinning experience

Review 57:Evening meal a bit disappointing.

Review 58:Location Garden and pool Walking from the door up into the mountains

Review 59:Fantastic restaurant Wonderful facilities Very helpful staff

Review 60:Lovely big room, friendly staff, location.

Review 61:We like the location, as a perfect stopover for our travel from south France to Germany.

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:The place is lovely. The rooms are clean, well designed and furnished to create a cosy atmosphere with a touch of luxury. We had a complementary coffee station in the superior room. The personnel was very, very polite. The whole place gives a feeling of relax.

Review 64:Signage showing where the hotel was as we drove around for a while! It needs a sign at the end of the road!

Review 65:Although there was a lot of renovation going on, addition of 16 more rooms, the owners and staff were very helpfull and friendly, to the point of bringing fresh milk and a bowl of strawberries when we arrived for tea! The room was amazing with very large bathroom offering an excellent rain shower, fantastic decor throughout and good use of colours to give it that special touch! We would definitely stay there again!

Review 66:Building works were still taking place as part of the new extensions. Made the place look messy and there was noise during the day.

Review 67:Modern and clean rooms. Scenic views from the bedroom and external deck. Fantastic food - enjoyed a great 5 course dinner in the restaurant

Review 68:The site was a bit messy and muddy in places, but only because they are renovating/building during the quite season. A good addition to the rooms would be an phone/intercom to speak to reception. At the moment if you have any questions you have to walk outside and down to reception in all weathers!

Review 69:Spacious room and bathroom, both very clean and lots of hot water! Great views, loved the terrace. Lovely ambience and the food was excellent...best dining/breakfasts we had all week whilst travelling through France and Italy!

Review 70:On arrival on a very wet evening eventually found hotel locked up and in darkness! Fortunately a chef appeared to let us in. It appeared that we were the only guests staying at the hotel and on the Sunday night it seemed we were the only people on the property! The shower in our room was fantastic apart from the fact it flooded the floor every time we used it.

Review 71:Food was fantastic. Location was ideal for us.Room very comfortable and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful despite the language barrier.

Review 72:We love the location as the alpine views are from the rooms arefabulous. Nestled on a hillside of orchards, below the dominating wallof Pic de Charance, one can quickly acess hiking and biking trails.Another option is to pleasantly stroll down to historic Gap center topartake of the many traditional amenities of a French village. Dining inan outdoor plaza, exploring a medieval church, or strolling through amid-week or Saturday farmers market are the charms of this southernalpine town. Of course the best dining by far is at Les Olivades, besure to make reservations for dinner! Your hosts/ess', Cedric,Celine , Virginie, and Eric will make your stay complete!!Lastly, the weather....Gap seldom has extreme weather and more sun than clouds year round. Even in January sunshine, minimal snow in the valley, and warmer temps make it a pleasant alternative for lodging if on a ski holiday at nearby areas in the mountains. We love our returns to Gap to stay at Les Olivades!! Although from Nov to May Les Olivades is renovating for 16 new rooms, we were NOT affected on the week ends with construction. Some may find the site messy now, but just a work in progress for many others to enjoy Les Olivades and our return next year!

Review 73:The food and atmosphere in the Restaurant was great . The Breakfast delightful . We had a tray delivered to our room and ate it on our terrace . The room and bathroom have lovely decor , and a rain shower . The Bed large and comfortable . I would go back in an instant . Very good value

Review 74:We needed an overnight stop on leaving south France heading for Parisavoiding tolls. This was perfect. Comfy room, brilliant shower, wonderful evening meal and a good breakfast to set us up for the nextday. Pity we only stayed one night.

Review 75:Young couple that managed the place was wonderful. The restaurant was excellent. The food was gourmet, service was excellent. Rooms were clean. View was unbelievable. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Review 76:Shower in the Romance room doesn't have a wall extending far enough to prevent water from flooding bathroom floor. it was necessary to use spray nozzle and squeezing into back corner up against the cold shower wall as prevention. Too bad, as the full size overhead shower pan was a lovely feature.

Review 77:Celine & Cedric's warm hospitality. Spacious rooms with patio overlooking the mountains! Food was incredibly delicious!!! Rooms are very chic, reminding us of a W Hotel. We WILL return!

Review 78:All very good

Review 88:Modern styling in room, great location away from Gap, quiet, excellent restaurant on lower level. Probably has great view in clear weather.
