Reviews for The Oberoi Mauritius
Review 1:nothing
Review 2:-private pool villa was very nice -the staff very friendly -restaurant chef makes what you like to eat -had a little misunderstanding order but they make it up for me -the breakfast was great
Review 3:I did not like the holiday to end
Review 4:The Friendliness, Etiquette,Customer oriented service. They complemented my intentions of making this the most memorable to celebrate my husband's birthday
Review 5:we have been given free upgrade to the Royal Villa, given gifts(T-shirts,Photo Albums), free transport to airport by BMW. I believe that was done after the hotel noted that we are coming for honeymoon. Fantastic service. couldn't ask for more.
Review 6:The Oberoi Mauritus is one of the best managed hotels in the world, with the most competent and pleasant staff you could meet! The location is excellent and everything we experienced was outstanding.
Review 7:The menu for breakfast was not that amazing.. Also the dinner menu at the restaurant lacked variety.. For a family with children it did not suit us well. Also, the resort had a lot of insects and lizards inside the room which didn't make us comfortable.
Review 8:The friendliness of staff, quietness and peace, location.
Review 9:Nothing - would change a thing.
Review 10:Everything was fantastic. We have stayed in many excellent hotels in the past and this was the best on all counts - service, staff, food, setting. We moved to another 5 star hotel mid way through our trip but came back to the oberoi as the other hotel paled in comparison. We will 100% be returning and thanks to the staff for making our trip so special.
Review 11:A Great Hotel. Small intimate feel, but all the facilities and services you would expect from 5 star accommodation. The food was exceptional and there was even a full separate vegetarian menu for the evening. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful throughout.
Review 12:The food was quite expensive compared to other 5* Mauritius resorts and there were only three restaurants to choose from. The bathroom opened up to a private garden through a glass door that had openings above and below that allowed lizards and other pests to come in. The sea in front of the hotel was rather rocky and not as good as other beaches in Mauritius.
Review 13:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The facilities were very nice. We stayed in a private villa with our own private pool, which was very nice. We liked the quality of the food at the hotel's restaurants, especially at the Gunpowder Room. We didn't do any activities, but we also enjoyed the main swimming pools. Other things we liked include the hotel's boutique and the fact that the staff prepared a romantic bath for us. The hotel also offered a good choice of excursions and things to do in Mauritius.
Review 14:Beach is rocky. A shuttle into another town would be helpful (as taxis are expensive). Better staffing at pool/beach during the later part of the day. Stephano was great during the earlier part of the day. Food could be improved. It's not horrible but not fantastic either for the price.
Review 15:For the most part, staff is wonderful and very friendly. They went out of their way to make my birthday special (and I didn't even have to tell them it was my birthday). The extra touches made it a fantastic trip. It's very serene. The grounds are magnificent and the private villa was beautiful.
Review 16:Only one thing: we went water-skiing and the instructor didn't seem very happy to be doing his job. He wasn't really helping...
Review 17:We loved the spa, the views, and the manicured gardens at the Oberoi. Whoever does the gardening there is doing a great job! The staff were very nice and helpful. We were there mid-April and the weather was excellent. It's a good idea to rent a car to travel round the island. At breakfast we overheard a lady at the table next to ours say it was her tenth time on Mauritius and fifth at the Oberoi - and we think it's the right direction :) The hotel has a very nice (even though it's not very large) sandy beach with good access to water. To those who complain about animals on the premises: really? We found them lovely. And they ARE NOT RATS, they are tenrecks.
Review 18:What was there not to like- We tried waterskiing for the first time. The staff at the watersports hut were just incredible- they had so much enthusiasm and patience that by the end of our trip we were standing up and waterskiing! They taught us well! There was also kayaking, sailing, pedalo as well as a glass bottom boat tour all complimentary for guests. The spa: This a must try experience. We opted for the Balenise message and the Oberoi Special Message and we were given an entire outdoor private area (‘couples outdoor area’) which composed of two massage beds, Jacuzzi, steam room, shower and private toilets. The hotel staff really didn’t make us feel rushed at all especially since we spent more than half a day there. There is also a 30% discount at the Spa if you go on the first day of arrival. The food: The hotel has two main restaurants- The main restaurant and ‘The Rocks’, with the latter serving fresh meat and seafood off the grill and also not having the restriction of formal wear (No shorts/flipflops accepted at the main restaurant for dinner). Breakfast is served at the main restaurant. We met the head chef Igor- who was very friendly; in fact he came over to our table as we had difficulties choosing which item we wanted. After finding our what type of foods we liked, he introduced us to another chef- Daman. Daman was so approachable and absolutely fantastic to talk to. He said we could get any of our traditional dishes, which we ate at home – even though they were not on the menu. The Rocks restaurant literally has tables which hug the sea front, so it’s a very romantic atmosphere and you also get fantastic views of the sunset. Here, we had Chef Jay looking after us. Again, like the rest of the staff at Oberoi, he was friendly, welcoming and had no problem at dealing with our request and tweaks to the menu. Go for the lobster, mixed seafood platter and our favorite- grilled sea bass was out of this world!
Review 19:The mattress was a bit hard and not comfortable ending up with a sore back after 3 nights. We found a few domestic animals around the garden and near the entrance to our room (i.e. small rats) especially at night. Not pleasant for a hotel of this nature.
Review 20:The room size, decor and bathroom and garden were excellent. I must congrats the landscaper.
Review 21:Beach not brilliant Needed a taxi to go anywhere cost over £20 a trip Tropical rain in February
Review 22:Chefs were amazing in particular chef Singh Gardens ,accommodation wonderful Tranquility at this time of year
Review 23:There was a small choice on the menu, it is an indian hotel chain and had 2 choices of indian food, both while nicely made and flavoured lacked any real interest. Exactly the same for the mauritian food choices. Such a shame otherwise think could have been one of my favorite hotels in the world.
Review 24:Everything except the menu
Review 25:- Not all of the pavilions (as was declared) have the sea view (only if to consider small spot between the trees) - Not full information provided by staff, regarding excursions
Review 26:- Nice & quiet location - Friendly staff
Review 27:service is great at the restaurants and at the beach. reception could improve a bit, but still ok (the lady who took us to the room looked like she was reading when she repeated her welcome speech). one super junior waiter served us two bread baskets as if they were two starters. but it took the senior colleague less then a minute to realize, run to our table and apologise in a smile
Review 28:check in at 9am and check out at 8pm earn this hotel the highest score, even had they fall short on other things. wich they have not. luxury room with pool was great. extreme privacy of the private pool and garden, nobody can see what happens there. stilish design. all you would expect from a 800eur per night room was there. probably actually it was even good value for money. complimentary airport pickup is a nice touch (altough a bmw or otherwise more upmarket vehicle would have been more consistent with the overall experience).
Review 29:I didn't like the location of the hotel which too far from anything. The location of the beach if full of rocks and not suitable for water sport, therefore you would required to go a little far to do sport. Other than that its quite expensive.
Review 30:Amazing people staff and facility. Everything looks green inside with beautiful gardens around you. Very humble and kind people from manger till delivery boys. Restaurant over view the ocean great views. Looks after you in all times and keep checking you that you are comfort and relax. They managed to help by supplying me diving equipment to find my GoPro camera which i dropped it un Rochester waterFall and thanks god i manger to find on the next day. I was surprised that ever staff member knows about it and everybody were asking about it, even the supervisor Natasha asked me about on checking out time which really made me pleased that they care about their customers.
Review 31:The activities, car rental & general other purchases are very expensive compared to anywhere and they don't have a supermarket within the resort.
Review 32:The Hospitality was very nice and i enjoyed the experience
Review 33:Well I think I must visit again to Oberoi to find if they have anything to Dislike.
Review 34:You cannot single them out.All of them were great Host.Right from Gen Mgr. Mr.Dhiren Pereira/from Reservation-Leena,Guest relation-Amanda/Souhanee,House keeping-Sumit,Restaurant-well I don't remember everyone but yup they were all Great.
Review 35:Little bit expensive, but its worth it.
Review 36:From the moment i checked-in till i checked-out i felt like i'm a special guest. They treat every guest as a special guest just like if he is a celebrity. The rooms r clean they make up the room twice a day. The staff r professional including the reception, restaurant, housekeeping...etc. everything was perfect i can keep going for 2 days mentioning the good things.

Review 67:Small beach.
Review 68:It was my first experience at Oberoi and it was great. "I often heard people saying service in Mauritius isn't great!" Well the service was fantastic!!!!!! all we heard was "Yes/ Sure/ No problem/ with pleasure..." The hotel is beautiful, we had a Luxury villa with private pool. The Rooms are spacious, clean cozy, great sea view, Bathrooms are great and modern! private pool is great. Lovely well maintained little garden and good privacy!!!! the hotel provides great general facilities and activities. One of our best 5 Star hotel experience! BRAVO!
Review 69:To have only one lunch restaurant on the resort.
Review 70:Excellent resort, staff and facilities. Pure luxe! The villa's were excellent and we loved the free (included) watersports, airport transfer, bike rentals.
Review 71:Lunch could do with a bit more variety
Review 72:- Personalised attention of the staff which is refreshing & thoroughly enjoyable - Very good facilities including gym, cycles, tennis courts, lovely swimming pool - Courteous and helpful employees who were always ready to make exceptions for you! Efficient concierge providing detailed information and helping arrange trips All in all a splendid experience!!!!
Review 73:The location is in one of the worst places in Mauritius. There is hardly any beach and going into water is out of the question.
Review 74:The hotel is very well laid out. The facilities are top class. Staff is very polite and welcoming.
Review 75:Not much...just would prefer it if the hotel was over 12s. Not really the place for small babies, toddlers and buggies...much too nice.
Review 76:Fabulous service, great food, great design. All round lovely hotel. Adult pool a good idea.
Review 77:unfortunately the nearby golf- maritime is not worth to go there, so nothing for golf fans nearby… hotel itself very much recommendable
Review 78:great attention by all staff, a very exclusive feeling, quiet and relaxing
Review 79:The room could be bigger, for such an expensive hotel. But they are exactly as seen in photos.
Review 80:The place, those gardens, it is like you live in paradise. The breakfast and the quality of food is excellent. I've had the best dinner of my life in the main restaurant (rissotto osobuco). They clean or tide up the room twice a day.
Review 81:That we had to leave
Review 82:Absolutely everything., it was phantastic. They even had reading glasses of various strength so I could read the menu
Review 83:Outstanding service, very attentive and amiable staff.
