Reviews for Hotel Solymar

Review 1:Noise travels from other rooms and the corridors.

Review 2:The hotel is in a great location and has good views and the staff were friendly. Great value for money.

Review 3:Lack of facilities no kettle. Having to pay extra for a sea view despite the hotel being almost empty

Review 4:Located in a good position between the Arundel and the old port clean and tidy.

Review 5:The actual building stood out like a sore thumb along the sea front! Once inside, you can see that the decor is tired and dated. However, I think the price reflects this...

Review 6:I liked the friendliness of the reception staff, the reception area and the lovely courtyard at the rear!

Review 7:Clean and quiet during october month

Review 8:Very quiet no road noise sea front location 6-7 min walk to pubs and restaurants upmarket bars and restaurants no tattyness area very clean and nice beach area we did however stay mid october so probably quieter than summer months but everything still open

Review 9:Inadequate hot water for a shower at certain times.. Water plumbing not the best. Hot was cold and visa versus. Okay once you had sussed the system.

Review 10:Good location. Friendly staff. Basic but adequate for my requirements.

Review 11:Breakfast is not included, not well communicated. No clear price, not worth the value with 6 Euro, just ham and bread. Not even eggs.

Review 12:Definitely get the sea view!

Review 13:Worse than a hostel , poor dated mismatched furniture dreadful bed, awful pillows felt like s prison cell. We heard the hotel was for sale they are obviously running it into the ground !

Review 14:. Great location & fairly clean but the pungent odour of cheap chemicals hits you as soon as your in the door day & night !

Review 15:The shower was lovely and powerful, but you couldn't, stand under it unless you were 7 ft...had to take the shower off the holder, try to control it while washing with 1 hand, which was a bit tricky.

Review 16:The hotel is situated within a 15 minute walk to the main town, beach and restaurants, which was perfect, away from the busy areas and a lovely stroll back after an evening out. It is set back slightly from the road, so little traffic noise and ample parking. The sea view was fab, lying in the comfy bed, while watching and listening to the sea. Plus we got in late, everything closed, and the receptionist rustled us up some beers...very appreciated.

Review 17:The little things: - nowhere to blow-dry hair near mirror. - mattress protector was wrinkled and made the bed very uncomfortable - sheets were a bit small for the bed

Review 18:Great location and staff

Review 19:Not far from the beach, bars and shops and the old town is a 25 minute walk. There's lots of lovely cocktail bars along the front and you can park opposite the hotel. The rooms are small but this doesn't bother us.

Review 20:May not be a luxury hotel(one star) & we only used it for an overnight stop. But we found it to be clean, tidy & in a great location. Staff were friendly & helpful..close to all facilities.

Review 21:Room was a little small.

Review 22:A nice hotel on the sea front. 10 minutes level walk to town and sandy beach. You can swim off the rocks outside hotel. Good wifi, plenty of free parking, good continental breakfast. Good value.

Review 23:It's a bit noisy; lots of 'water' sounds from other floors and the doors bang a lot. Couldn't figure out the bus service.

Review 24:It was relaxing; very close to the sea. About 25 mins easy walk to the main town and port area. Good breakfast coffee. Suitable for all ages. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 25:Great location and the view from the balcony was amazing. It is a cheap hotel so didn't expect much but and we were pleasantly surprised with our stay. Good wifi access, clean room with fresh towel and clean bedding each day. I would recommend!

Review 26:Showers were awful. Water temperatures fluctuated from cold to scalding hot and shower head location was above head with Out any adjustment possibLe

Review 27:Staff and beid

Review 28:Hotel Solymar is as advertised. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are fairly basic but perfectly adequate and very clean. It suited us perfectly for a one night stay but would have been ok for a longer stay too. The location is perfect, close to all the bars and restaurants and you step out of the front entrance to a beautiful view of the sea. I would certainly recommend this as a good hotel and good value for money with a very reasonable room rate even at the height of the season.

Review 29:There was no fridge in the bedroom. Old bedding.

Review 30:Perfect location on the seafront. The restaurant next door offers the best meat cooked on a big barbecue.

Review 31:there wasnt anything really it was perfect for what we wanted.it was in need of a cash injection but fine really depends on how picky you are

Review 32:location was about 10-15 minutes to Arenal prom. very quiet aircon clean wifi

Review 33:We didn't like the beds they were not comfortable and as twins were small. The mattresses could have been bigger.

Review 34:We loved the location the parking facilities and the staff. The cleaning lady was especially good nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Breakfast was continental but missed pealed fruit like melon etc.

Review 35:A little further from the Arenal than we expected, and would probably book a hotel with a pool next time.

Review 36:Staff were polite and efficient, and the room was functional and comfortable, if basic.

Review 37:The staff were very helpful and cheery....fresh orange juice for breakfast....all very clean. Even though it is a little dated it is great value for money.

Review 38:Impression of being under staffed. Hooks for dressing gowns etc not fitted in bathroom. Some of the little 'niceties', taken for granted in other hotels, were missing.

Review 39:Position and views. Nice terrace to the front.

Review 40:Needs a pool, as the beach front is all rocks! Not particularly cheap and b/fast not included. in the rate I paid but at €55 a night I think b/fast should be included! Also needs a bar!

Review 41:Location!

Review 42:We were travelling in a motorhome and did not know where to park it. The lady on reception actually called the local police for us to determine the best place to park. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely. Staff were excellent.

Review 43:The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, it looks run down and tired, almost neglected. It is clean enough but, for example, the bath in our bathroom had been painted White obviously to cover up signs of aging. The walls of the rooms are paper thin; in the early hours of Friday morning our neighbours returned from a very late night out and were so noisy we thought they were coming into our room. We complained to reception who dealt with the matter quickly.

Review 44:The location of the hotel was very good, and the air conditioning was excellent.

Review 45:The bathroom was a bit dirty Basic facilities - no hair dryer, old towels etc

Review 46:Friendly staff Great calm location between the beach and the port Comfy bed

Review 47:No bad experiences but the breakfast was sparce and not much variety and the coffee was very poor from a machine.

Review 48:Convenience to nearby Arenal beach and also very convenient for the wedding we attended which was held at La Siesta beachfront restaurant.

Review 49:Everything. Location is perfect. I had dropped my wallet in the parking lot at night, the Staff actually returned my wallet in the morning with everything inside it just the way I had left it.

Review 50:The location and the room across the courtyard was ideal for us and our kids. Walking distance to the Arenal, fantastic beach, and close to main roads to get out of Xabia.

Review 51:Breakfast very basic, cornflakes, toast or croissant. Fresh orange juicemachine not suitable for the hotel as it is a domestic type that cannotproduce enough juice for breakfast. Bed rather hard. Can get noisyoutside on Friday/Saturday nights from beach bars. No English tv,only Spanish.

Review 52:Staff are friendly but limited English language. Not an expensive hotel.About 15 min walk from sandy Arenal beach or Javea Port in otherdirection.

Review 53:Problem with the water when we arrived but was soon sorted. Also old packets of opened shower gel on the floor of the shower suggesting it hadnt been cleaned.

Review 54:Very basic hotel but for the price we paid was fine for an overnight stay with lovely views. Slept really well. Staff lovely and friendly.

Review 55:the room was dated, dirty and wallpaper hanging off the wall, reminded me of what would have been an old persons home...furniture was dated and old..definately need a car to get to restaurants bars shops etc..only good thing was the heating in the room..no plug sockets in the bathroom so had to move the beds to open the wardrobe door to use the mirror when drying my hair,, no plug for the sink and had to hold the shower head as the bracket was broken..walls are paper thin as well.chairs on the "balcony" if you can call it that was filthy and the floor was dirty...only had one night there and thought 60 euro;s is scandolous for this property, obv paying for the sea view..travelled from there to benidorm in a 4 star hotel which was fab for less money than this hotel, will not be going back..ever..

Review 56:nothing.!!!! and leaving..

Review 57:Not a lot we didn't like just a little dusty the room was and would have like a sea view as the hotel was more or less empty.

Review 58:We liked the situation of the Hotel right opposite the sea. Staff friendly

Review 59:Hotel need a bit of a update in decor.

Review 60:Beach front access to javia port and arenal walking distance 15/20 mins or 5 min drive.parking onsite or beach.friendly staff.

Review 61:The staff speak English far better than I speak Spanish. The standard of the Hotel has improved since we last visited in March 2013. The value for money, before people start making disparaging comments about the Hotel they should reflect on how much they have paid for a Hotel in prime position on the seafront.

Review 62:Hideous decor brown sponged paint on wall behind bed like a dirty protest- room chilly for s einter stay- no mattress covers and I was bitten several times by something

Review 63:Lovely staff Very well priced

Review 64:Nothing we didn't like but wish they would put kettles in the rooms.

Review 65:Location is perfect for beach, bars & resturants.Balcony sea views are stunning, nice staff, clean and great value. Will be using again...

Review 66:Too expensive for the quality it offers. Breakfast is 6€ additional per person each day and it's poor. No safety depozit box in the room.

Review 67:Good location with nice view specially when you book sea view rooms.

Review 68:Shower fixed in a position so you could only get your head wet. No ironing board available. Complete rip off. Stained bath towels. No parking spaces in the hotel.

Review 69:It was opposite the beach

Review 70:Rooms a bit sparse and could do with updating.

Review 71:Ideal for a short stop over, perfect location to explore javea. Large spacious family room and clean. Good wifi connection. Friendly receptionist.

Review 72:The hotel is dated and needs a refurbish the bedrooms were dark and the bathrooms in need of some attention. The price for the room was very expensive given the level of comfort. Breakfast is an afterthought and very little choice is provided.

Review 73:Great location and staff very helpful and firendly

Review 74:Very tired Hotel, basic accommodation in need of refurb but finding out that the Hotel is up for sale explains the lack of investment

Review 75:Location, WIFI and some TV programmes in English

Review 76:Not good water pressure for the shower.

Review 77:Easy walk to the Port or Arenal.

Review 78:Location

Review 79:We loved the location and the beds were very comfortable. Also the muesli was the best I have tasted.

Review 80:Had to request hairdryer.

Review 81:Fantastic location

Review 82:Noisy at night from other rooms. The chairs on the balcony were broken on the backs

Review 83:Most helpful staff.

Review 84:Pleasant location and sea view from room.

Review 85:It missed small but inexpensive touches

Review 86:Value for the price

Review 87:Great location, very reasonably priced and friendly, helpful staff

Review 88:Nice friendly staff.

Review 89:People arguing at 2.00am not sorted by hotel staff other than that very quiet

Review 90:Good staff. Good location. Good breakfast.

Review 91:It seems more like a hostel than a hotel

Review 92:Hard beds

Review 93:Great position, very clean and friendly,, good free parking.

Review 94:Dreadful decor no bar open at any time ripped furniture in very grubby lounge area

Review 95:Not enough car parking on site.

Review 96:View from balcony was amazing

Review 98:Clean,quite and comfortable bed. Freash towels and maid service everyday.

Review 99:Friendly and easy going. Short walk to town centre and good beach bars

Review 100:Bit tired, needs updating. Very noisy at night.

Review 101:Nice position opposite sea, rooms with sea view very nice. Good value breakfast.

Review 102:The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It's in an excellent location in the middle of the two beaches.

Review 103:Internet is poor

Review 104:Grate location! Betwin beach and port with see view

Review 105:No Mirror - near a plug for hair dryer - Screw holes I the wall ... Justput a picture up !!!!!!!!!
