Reviews for La Galiote
Review 1:dark, no atmosphere, very uncomfortable bed, not much sign of staff, had to search for them to pay bill. security information etc in appropriate book on main desk in public domain!!
Review 2:location
Review 3:no hotel lift and access to rooms is via a difficult winding stone staircase but staff were helpful in this respect. it is really not suitable though for people with mobility problems. no comfortable chairs in bedroom and no real facilities for storage of clothes. Nylon sheets on bed very off-putting.
Review 4:Excellent location Right in the central square of this historic and interesting little town on the River Herault.
Review 5:Small room, no chair in the room, no air con or fan, difficult parking, shared toilet ran out of tissue paper, no breakfast facilities, no vending machines, tv mounted far too high making it impossible to watch, one window had a net curtain, it fell down. Luke warm shower.
Review 6:Children manning reception ?
Review 7:The worst experience in a hotel. The "bed" was an uncomfortable sofa hard as wood. The room without furniture and the old TV not working. Stay as far as possible.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Can be noisy with evening concerts going on until midnight right in front of the hotel all summer long.
Review 10:The food was excellent, the staff friendly, very nice views of the river from the dinning room and some of the rooms. The hotel is part of the XII century cathedral heritage complex (old water fountain in the lobby, confession booth and old kitchen stove in the dinning room ...)
Review 11:It was impossible to park near to the hotel due to a big festival being held that evening on the river. I had to park my car a few hundred yards away on a pavement because the town was overrun with cars. I got a parking ticket when I returned the following day. There was no airconditioning. I could live with that but the NOISE. Ok there was a festival on which finished about midnight but after that there were people shouting and banging doors until 5 in the morning. I have never slept so badly in a hotel anywhere!
Review 12:the room was clean enough.
Review 13:The location, 300 metres from the station, is a big plus. The staff were extremely friendly and some spoke English. They reduced the price when I asked to stay a further night and I was given a bottle of wine as a present when I left. The hotel is the former bishop's residence. I loved the place and would recommend it. I only had good experiences. You would need to understand that not everything works 100%. No room wi-fi, but it is available in the foyer; no lift; the hot water comes via Paris and is reversed. Cold water comes out of the hot water tap! But everything works. Give it a go and enjoy the experience.
Review 14:This is a mad hotel which must have been part of the cathedral complex at Agde in bygone days. The black basalt pillars, arches and balustrade were pretty impressive, hope all the beautiful architectural features are retained when this hotel is redeveloped later this year.
Review 15:Had not stated on website that hotel was being renovated, so no meals available. Manager didn't seem to know about our booking. We went out for meal and came back just after 10 pm to discover we were locked out! Staff at neighbouring café helped. Wife appeared by car after phone call to let us in. She was very apologetic that we had not been given a code to get in. No-one else seemed to be staying there and no staff on premises which was a bit worrying.
Review 16:Location Nice restaurant "L'Amiral" nearby
Review 17:the room was clean, but the bed was not a bed - it was a fold-out couch, with a ridge down the middle and too short even for me. I am not tall! Also, toilet paper ran out and was not replaced after a few days, and it was decided one morning not to provide breakfast until 9am - so I had to wait.
Review 18:In many ways the owners/staff were welcoming, and invited me to eat with them. I would encourage them to start to provide food at the hotel - delicious!
Review 19:Public areas were very dark. The beds were not made. Problems with the pin machine It looks as if it has seen better days.
Review 20:The room was clean. Lots of towels.
Review 21:Although location was fine it was very noisy. Hotel facilities were non existent. Locked out one night at 00.20 hrs. Kettle on room but nothing else. Towels not changed very often. Staff not helpful. Would not recommend to any of our friends. We will return to Agde as it was excellent but will find somewhere else to stay.
Review 22:Location was excellent
Review 23:Arrived at 2 pm but not allowed to book in unto 2.45 . The owner and his family appeared to be having an after dinner nap and just rested in the chairs in the reception area . I was advised that breakfast would not avilable unto 10 am . Room which I was allocated was very small and had no natural light . Key was not attached to a key ring making it easy to loose . The window to the room ( which opened to a corridor ) had no lock . Anyone could have entered this room via the window . No wardrobe - you just had to hang your clothes on hooks . The plug for the wash hand basin was missing and you had to use toilets at the end of the corridor . After using the toilet there was no facility to wash your hands . Breakfast was not supplied on Monday . Was refunded the cost .
Review 24:Stunning location
Review 25:No en suite toilet. Toilets didn't have locks that worked. Soap and paper not renewed. Noisey at night with noise from other rooms and loud music from bar below.
Review 26:Room was clean.
Review 27:We had booked but they weren't expecting us. Very poor and untrained staff. Extremely noisy situation. The managers were talking and partying all night.
Review 28:My room was clean and the bed comfortable. The shower was excellent
Review 29:Poor service from the staff - we had to wait for them to awaken to give us breakfast at 8am. The breakfast was not worth Euro8 each. The wardrobe in the room had no rail to hang your clothes! (it was missing!) - we reported it but nothing got sorted. The hallways and stairs are very dark and the lighting needs to be improved as there are severl steps / changes of level. The staff claimed that the credit card machine was not functioning and that we had to pay in cash - there is a cash machine in the bank next door which the receptionist pointed us too!
Review 30:The location of the hotel was on the banks of the River Herault on one side and the Place Jean Jaure on the other situated in the middle of the old town of Agde. The hotel is within easy reach of the train station and bus services which are very good. The hotel is very old and built from the local Basualt rock whic we found to be very attractive.
Review 31:poor maintenance, e.g loose door handles, no mod cons dodgy domestics,
Review 32:character of the building and features from 1300's to 1950's helpful front/mgt staff,
Review 33:First room I was given had no curtains, little storage space and I hadto wait 10 minutes for hot water to come through the hot tap. I wasmoved to a better room after complaining. Staff speak lots of Europeanlanguages but not English.
Review 34:Location close to city center and station.
Review 35:Good value for the money.Thank you!!!
Review 36:Only planned to stay one night as stopover. Good location.
Review 37:There was a concert just outside the window that was a bit disturbing.
Review 38:No hot water. Not cheap considering the level of facilities
Review 39:Location very convienient for teh airport
Review 40:The hotel is being renovated and I am sure the rooms will be improved. I stayed in their best room (27) with a lovely balcony. The room was spacious and fairly clean. But having seen other rooms, I would be weary to stay there again.
Review 41:Hotel was locked with no staff on my arrival. No one answered the bell. No one answered the phone.I had no bed for the night although the hotel was prewarned I would arrive between 1300 and midnight.
Review 42:the problem is is that I stayed from the 21st of oct to the 9th of november and it really is not the best period to judge completely. But to eat in the restaurant over looking the herault was a joy each day and a wonderfull room for functions be a great place to hole a wedding reception. Slight noise from the club below on friday and saturday evening could become a problem needs nipping in the bud.
Review 43:I like the hotel because of its age and location and easy to reach from the station. Nice family run the hotel and Lilian is worth her weight in gold.goood for local transport.
Review 44:Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. So sorry to say that as the stAff were lovely. Got caffeine poisoning from gheir way too old/ strong coffee. Whole place needs doing up & cleaning.
Review 45:The staff
Review 46:Stayed two nights. Bed not made and room not cleaned. TV not working in room. Had to move to another room, but didn't want to pay extra for this.
Review 47:Staff tried to be helpful. But had to ask for kettle, coffee/tea.
Review 48:Dirty, peeling paint, old broken furniture, missing curtains, no Wi-Fi, noisy location, insect bites.
Review 49:Close to the train station and bus routes. Old building with interesting features.
Review 50:nearly all the rooms have no loo its shared and quite a way from some of the rooms. The lighting is the corridors is very poor its dangerously dark on the stairs.
Review 51:run by a nice family, very helpful. This hotel was renovated in the 60s and very little has been done since then. A wonderful old building of interest.
Review 52:staff was very loud, till 2.30u in de night,no respect for clients..I asked for sillence at 2.30u,and it was better, but we were awake till then, and the children slept bad because of the "party" second: they had no family room, and it was another owner since we booked, and he didn't let us know..
Review 53:The fact they didn't have my booking!
Review 54:That despite not having a booking, and arriving at 11.00 p.m. they still cheerfully accommodated us. The toilet was too small, but the room was large and the view was good.
Review 55:Difficulty with check in . Communication problems.
Review 56:Location was perfect for our purpose.
Review 57:The staff didn't speak English !
Review 58:the location is really good
Review 59:They were'nt friendly.
Review 60:The room, the shower and the toilets were dirty. The TV didn't work. The receptionist was not professional.
Review 61:The location is excellent. Very good base to visit the city Love the view from the balconies.
