Reviews for Hotel Des Phares

Review 1:Parking was requested and charged for - allocated parking was then given to 4 motorbikes while we were out. I had to leave the car in the open on yellow lines. was asked to move it by 09:30 - one of the bikers deliberately parked his bike in the only free bay preventing me from parking my car. I did not like his attitude or the barely concealed aggression.

Review 2:Location of hotel, friendliness of manager/owner

Review 3:The room was pretty small but clean and one night it was too cold (maybe because of the weather outside - we didn't expect it so we didn't ask for an extra blanket).

Review 4:The hotel is close to the sea and it has a nice garden. it has a TV and a good Wi-Fi.

Review 5:the weather was unusually hot and there was no air conditioning in the room, the evening air was cool with the window open, so all was good in the end.

Review 6:this was more like a B&B than hotel, loved the friendly staff, very helpful with local information and things to do, spent 6 days there and could have stayed longer.

Review 7:The sound of the adjoining shower!

Review 8:The staff fantastic pleasant and welcoming the location brilliant 5min walk to beach and some superb resturants. Also a lovely place to take your dog. They are made very welcome. Rooms very clean new showers all you need Thank you for an enjoyable stay we will return.

Review 9:Beware of the "coffe scam" :) In fact this is the onlyunpleasant thing in this place I paid 4 euros for a coffe. So Allwaysask the price of the a la carte eat and drink before you order anything.

Review 10:Easy going attitude of the staff made me feel at home

Review 11:We booked 15 sq meters comfortable room, but our room was I suppose 10 sq meters or even less. The bed is very narrow for two people. Internet - you should enter login and password again and again. Very difficult and boring.

Review 12:Very beautiful mansion. Room is small, but nice with vintage furniture. Location is good. Near Le Havre beach, and you can find very nice restaurants on the shore, which are open till late.

Review 13:There is no obvious management apart from one on-site resident monsieur. I had specifically booked a twin and on arrival it was a double. We were promised it would be changed during the afternoon, which didn't happen. The kind night porter was therefore obliged to help us strip a double and make up 2 twins at 10p.m. The management should READ THE REQUESTS OF THEIR CLIENTS.

Review 14:Location out of town. Attractive style of an old seaside villa, but now not as nice as 20 years ago. The breakfast was excellent and so it should be at 9,90€. Home-made yoghurt, compote de pommes, decent orange-juice and the other usual items. Breakfast was a pleasure.

Review 15:There was too many traffic on the bridge between Le Havre and Honfleur. we lost a lot of precious traveling time. If you would like to visit the Normandy liberation beaches it is better to look for another location.

Review 16:Location was great near the beach and great for visiting Honfleur and Etratat.

Review 17:The website is a bit misleading with the picture of the facilities making you think that the picture of where you will be staying is the gorgeous old house, but in reality it is a set of rooms not even attached to the house. There are not many restaurants or places for a family to go unless you just wish to stay at the beach all day.

Review 18:The hotel was in walking distance to the beach

Review 19:There is no elevator in the main building, so ask for a room on a lower level if you have trouble walking the stairs.

Review 20:Personnel is very friendly and speaks english. Hotel is very close to the beach, in a nice and quiet part of town. Good breakfast, nicely decorated rooms in the old mansion. Bed was comfortable. Parking is available on request (and for a cost), but we had no trouble parking on the street for free.

Review 21:very close to the beach, very friendly staff, breakfast is half price for children, we had no problem finding on-street parking

Review 22:Small room space Every hour internrt connecting

Review 23:None

Review 24:Hotel's bathroom. Needs a little cleaning!

Review 25:Love its location!

Review 26:The room was very small.

Review 27:The location. It's a nice building with traditional features.

Review 28:No fan or air conditioning

Review 29:Friendliness of the owner Location close to beach front

Review 30:someone's sock under the bed

Review 31:manager and staff were welcoming

Review 32:Bar: No bar in the room, need to call Internet access: not clear on how to connect to the Wifi

Review 33:Value for the money Nice breakfast Location not too far from the sea

Review 34:The convenience of staying in an upmarket area of Le Havre o nly one block from a bus stop into town; the free, working and reasonably fast Wi-Fi; the excellent breakfast; the very good recommended restaurants nearby.

Review 35:Smallish room. But clean and comfortable.

Review 36:Great staff. Very helpful. Male receptionist speaks English. Parking available. Think of this as a nice, comfortable B&B.

Review 37:Very convenient and pleasant location for an overnight stop before catching ferry. Clean room and helpful staff. Parking close to hotel (also in hotel grounds for small extra charge).

Review 38:Nothing - I would recommend this hotel to others.

Review 39:Very clean and well kept. There was plenty of space for all our family. The staff were polite and friendly and the location was close to the seafront which made a pleasant walk and dinner out for us.

Review 40:The member of staff who checked us out tried to charge for 4 breakfasts which we did not have. This must have been on the booking form as we were specifically asked whether we wished to breakfast at the hotel, which we declined to do. Hotel parking was expensive, restrictive and (had we booked a space) we could not have used it as our vehicle (Landrover) is too high. Surrounding on-street parking is very difficult.

Review 41:Sitting in the courtyard each evening and not being hassled. It was very quiet which was relaxing.

Review 42:No airconditioner. If its hot summer, it will be too hot to staywithout airco

Review 43:Clean room, comfortable bed, good location. Just near the beach andmany rastaurants were nearby. Staff couldn't speak english butcommunication was okay.

Review 44:Very limited parking space on site. Public parking in street possible, but unpleasant experience. Would book next time only if on-site parking available. Outside appearance of the buildings would benefit from some refreshing.

Review 45:Close to the sea; realatively quiet neighbourhood on residential street (but one side facing street with more traffic); nice small courtyard with garden furniture; coffee and tea making facilities. Good city map available from hotel.

Review 46:Nice location as you are next to the beach. Very clean hotel and nice staff. Finally very good price-quality ratio.

Review 47:Very kind and helpful staff.Calm and clean room for 4 people. Comfortable beds.Delicious breakfast in very pleasant environment.

Review 48:Very cosy place with great atmosphere, awesome breakfast, close to the beach of Le Havre

Review 49:Quite a lot of steps and some things were a bit dated.

Review 50:Very accommodating after we made a late booking. Room was clean and comfortable.

Review 51:not enough spaces in hotel car park. No bar or restaurant but plenty close by.

Review 52:Quiet area, good sized comfortable room.

Review 53:old building, smells like granny)

Review 54:Friendly personnel, calm place to sleep, clean, 2 steps from the beach, can find free parking nearby.

Review 55:Pleasant manager. Good selection for breakfast. Off road parking and able to accommodate my dog

Review 56:Good location; information provided for after hours access.

Review 57:No bar, but plenty close by.
