Reviews for Hotel Colon Rambla
Review 1:I thought there was an airport shuttle, no! We arrived and the door was locked. The room was damp and smelt strongly of disinfectant and had damp patches on the walls! Not a great place to stay and disappointed that booking.com have it on the website.
Review 2:Nothing much, the saving grace was the restaurant near by where we had a fantastic meal. A good taxi driver To the airport in the early morning.
Review 3:We were 2 mums with young adults who are both in wheel chairs. I had emailed the hotel to let them know that my daughter was brain injured and a ground floor room would be better. When we arrived we were given room 203 which was on second floor. The size of your lifts were very small and could not fit a normal size wheel chair. My friends son can walk a little so she had to fold the wheel up to bring him up and down. But my daughter cannot walk so had to tip the wheel chair forward every time to get he in and out. Also there was no wheel chair excess to the pool so my daughter and I could seat by the pool or go into the pool. If you advertise saying you have disabled facilities you really need to get a ramp for excess to the pool. We had a meal in your restaurant the first night we stayed. I'm very sorry to say it was not nice at all. The fish was very over cooked and the lasagne did not taste very nice at all. Also your chef went into the kitchen with his cigarettes and lighter in his hand. My friend was drinking vodka and by the third night the hotel had ran out. My friend went to reception to ask if they would get another bottle and they gave her a map to go and buy her own which she was not at all happy about. They got another bottle of vodka the day before we came home. Surely if you are running a bar you would have all kinds of Spirits to sell at all times specially knowing it was the Christmas period and the hotel was full. Many thanks Julie McCarthy
Review 4:The hotel was very clean and the staff were really friendly. Always willing to help.
Review 5:Great location for exploring Santa Cruz. Lush pool area is a real plus in a busy city. Friendly, helpful staff. Underground car parking relieved the stress of finding a space in this busy part of the city.
Review 6:Late in the evening there were other guests smoking in the patio and making noise. We had to tell them to shut up ! Swimmingpool is not heated.
Review 7:Large nice room and bathroom. Good location, not central but still everything reachable by foot. Parking in the basement. Good quality price ratio !!
Review 8:This hotel is in a convenient location close to the shops & restaurants at Santa Cruz. The staff were very friendly & accommodating to our needs and the hotel was fine for a short break in the sun. Would recommend.
Review 9:No bad experience but early signs of Management possibly starting to slip a little. Presentation just slightly off its best and reception knowledge not as strong as it was a year ago. Hopefully "Management" or "El Jefe" will address those issues.
Review 10:The Junior Suite is quite luxurious and at a competitive rate. We have used this Hotel now several times on our trips to Santa Cruz to see a musical event or to go shopping.
Review 11:One way streets in the area made navigation difficult but that is not the hotels fault Sat nav helped
Review 12:Location very convenient for walking to city centre. Bedroom good size and bed very comfortable. Car parking at hotel very convenient
Review 13:Wasn't allowed to check in slightly early. Very limited parking in the street but this is normal for a city centre location.
Review 14:The room was excellent, spacious with a large modern bathroom. The balcony and pool were a bonus.
Review 15:Our room wasn't ready until after 3o'clock. We were asked to pay 6€ a night for a pool view, even though we had paid extra for a Junior Suite already. The kitchen was actually locked meaning that we couldn't use a kettle to make coffee (which we had brought with us). The receptionist was very helpful and arranged for this to be out right. Not a good start when we arrived thirsty and tired. The electricity in the room failed in our second day and took an hour to fix. We still had a good time and will probably choose this hotel in February when we return to Santa Cruz.
Review 16:This was our third shirt stay. Such a relaxing atmosphere.
Review 17:No ventilation in the bathroom; badly-located lighting in the bathroom leaves your face in gray shadow, making it impossible to see if you missed a spot shaving or applying make-up. The full kitchen in the suite has no cooking utensils, silverware or pots and pans, making the room useless except perhaps for the fridge.
Review 18:A small hotel in an ideal location, just off the tourist traffic, but close to good restaurants, in what appears to be a nice upper-middle-class residential area; spacious one-bedroom suite, with a terrace overlooking a lush garden and a swimming pool. Good breakfast is included.
Review 19:Maintenance works were carried out during the stay.
Review 20:Stayed in different parts of the city and the location of this hotel is the best. Surroundings are beautiful which makes the journey to city centre very enjoyable.
Review 21:Having stayed here several times during the past two years it is noticeable that the hotel is looking a little tired. The standard of cleanliness in our room was not of the usual standard. As we were only staying three nights we did not complain but would possibly not stay here again.
Review 22:Very good staff especially at reception. Very helpful.
Review 23:I found nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Review 24:The staff, especially on reception. The rooms..the comfort.great sense of space.location..great value for money..Having trees and birdsong outside window..
Review 25:School playground.
Review 26:Very nice hotel and staff, only problem being are room overlooking the school playground. The rooms could do with double glazing to help with the noise.
Review 27:Would have been nice with a shower curtain.
Review 28:This was my second stay at this beautiful hotel. Perfect location in a peaceful area near the center. The staff are very friendly and the rooms clean and with lots of place. Loved the balcony with nice furnitures and lovely view overlooking the pool.
Review 29:Sleep quality at the hotel could be better. There is a busy street at the pool side and it may disturbe if you are a light sleeper. And there is school on th other side. Beds and pillows could have been better quality and more comfortable. Airconditioning was working but air was not fresh. We didn't try the breakfast as it was not included but 14 euros was maybe too much for what I saw at the buffet and compared to rates at cafes nearby. Overall experience was ok but I would not go again.
Review 30:Location is pretty good only 10 minutes from the center, shopping etc. It was also fairly easy to find free parking on the street near the hotel. Wifi was free and worked well.
Review 31:If you are not luck and could not find they ask 14 euros for parking from the hotel. Breakfast was not good as I expected.
Review 32:Good location, good value for money. I suggest this hotel for it's price. Very nice location. We found park space in front of the hotel for our car.
Review 33:Quite expensive to park when free city parking available & unable to leave car there for sightseeing on last day
Review 34:Balcony view of mountains unexpected in a city hotel, comfy bed, spacious suite
Review 35:Toilet was used before I came, cockroaches on my way to breakfast, small private parking, hard to find free public parking. Tehy serve the same breakfast for 3 days
Review 36:Location is near a main street
Review 37:Morning staff did not know how to check us out properly in local currency, euros. Other than that, everything was fine.
Review 38:Greeting evening staff; attentive & helpful.
Review 39:This hotel was great for my needs. I was travelling for business. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The swimming pool was a bonus to use after work! Staff were all really nice and very helpful
Review 40:the staff treated us very, very bad: never laughing, never saying "hello", talking to each other calling us "coño"
Review 41:location, garden, swimming pool, very nice room
Review 42:The common areas could use some refurbishing. The matress in the bed had seen better days.
Review 43:Very good location. Even if the building is somehow old, the overall impression was good. Nice, comfortable hotel, with large rooms and a swimming pool. Prices are very competitive.
Review 44:Car parking bit expensive. Wd have liked a terrace but as usual as a solo trav, didn't get one and wasn't given option of paying more. Pity as there were quite a few balconied rooms available. If some were empty, it would have been a nice customer service gesture to offer me one (as I paid the same as a double)
Review 45:Huge room, lots of space. Only ten minutes walk to the main shopping streets and front.
Review 46:The hotel is located along a busy road so it's a bit noisy when you're outside, although it didn't bother us for sleeping (thanks to the double glazing in the room). And, the cleanliness was lamentable : the room seemed clean but we had a big cockroach in our room, which is unacceptable !!
Review 47:The junior suite was spacious and the swimming pool view was very pleasant even though the building is quite outdated. The facilities provided were great and the hotel staff is nice and helpful.
Review 48:We asked for king size bed but received 2 separate single beds which stood together. The beds moved and there was always a hole in between them:( the pillows were not comfortable.
Review 49:Liked the hospitality of the staff, room was clean and room service was good. Each time we asked for towels or plates with spoon and knife - they brought it even it was an unusual request.
Review 50:It rained
Review 51:Hotel was not too big there was a nice friendly feel. My room was excellent pool view mini suite. Location was good great for a base nothing too far away nice and quite area.
Review 52:Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Superior room was spacious and comfortable with swimming pool view. Excellent double doors on the balcony in order to avoid noise coming from the Rambla. Only 10-15 minutes walking from Plaza de España and 5 minutes from Calle Castillo.
Review 53:Excellent facilities - room, bathroom, terrace, wi-fi access... The swimming pools, especially the sea-water heated one, as well as the spa area, are also excellent. The breakfast is superb. And all staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 54:The hotel is reasonably well maintained and although here is room for improvements (e.g. to have electric sockets for chargers next to bed), the amount of space, light and comfort that one can get in a junior suite for that price is amazing.
Review 55:The cafe/bar is lacking atmosphere and therefore not in use much. its a nice space so soft lighting and nice music would improve it.
Review 56:rooms, we paid for a junior suite and were upgraded to a suite with pool view. rooms very comfortable, spacious and have double exterior doors so no traffic noise
Review 57:The noise outside. Try to get your room at a lower floor
Review 58:Regardless we got a free upgrade to a suit, the staff smiles and is always ready to assist you for everything!
Review 59:A bit worn-out rooms, our "Junior Suite" was nothing but a bit bigger room with a weary sofa and old-fashioned furniture... Expect more hostel-style environment than a 4 star hotel: if you want class, stay at Iberostar Mencey.
Review 60:Location fine. Balcony facing the pool was nice, although a lot of voice from the ramble. However, noise didn't bother us inside the room.
Review 61:If you open the window at night, it's very noisy because of all the cars that pass by rambla. Breakfast wasn't so good and varied.
Review 62:The staff were really nice and attentive. We were three people, so we took the suite with a view over the pool and the garden. Room was pretty big and comfortable, with a shower and a bath. Room was clean.
Review 63:This hotel is within walking distance of the city centre (about ten minutes). It's close to a lovely park and a stroll along the nearby Rambla is a must. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the hotel is bright and clean. Did not eat in it so cannot comment here. We stayed in a suite which is worth the extra money as it is so spacious and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Comfortable bed and lots of wardrobe space with plenty of hangers. Great WiFi reception which is free. There are also plenty of restaurants in and around this area if you don't feel like walking into the city centre. It also felt very safe and is located in a pleasant residential location.
Review 64:I didn't like the breakfast room, it's on souterrain and the ambiance is kinda cold and not welcoming at all...
Review 65:The kindness and attentiveness of the staff, the pool and garden area (eventhough it was too cold to swim), the hotelbar, the location in a small side street just outside the center.
Review 66:Location near park, plus hotel garden, very pleasant, but traffic noise from Rambla (not the hotel's fault) intrusive. Easy walking distance from market, museum and port.
Review 67:Note. Facilities for selfcatering were available. (at additional cost) Very kind and helpful personel at the front desk. No disturbing noise, when windows were closed. (room facing the pool) Exceptional good reading lights in bed. (very unusual). Very comfortabel beds. Unusually clean bathroom.
Review 68:Towels could be newer!
Review 69:Great location with on site parking, very good room (double double glazing so no traffic noise when inside), good WiFi, friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast buffet.
Review 70:Traffic noise from Rambla No formal dining facilities (restaurant sub-contracted to third party and under utilised)
Review 71:Junior suite very spacious & comfortable Helpful Reception staff - who introduced us to excellent Italian Restaurant, da Canio!!
Review 72:Room & bathroom size were OK; The Hotel location was also great, in a nice and quiet neighborood, only 3 minutes walk from the city center; I enjoyed privacy and silence; The Hotel staff are professional and extremely kind and helpful; Some rooms have a boiler to make coffee/tea; Larger rooms (studios) also have kitchen appliances, but I did not use them; There is a nice bar in the hall, where one can seat either inside or in the garden and sip a cofee or a cup of chocolate
Review 73:This is our third time staying there and each time the staff, including chefs and cleaning ladies as well as the front desk staff, have been so friendly. Thank you.
Review 74:I found the matress too hard, but my husband was fine with it.
Review 75:Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. We had a junior suite with a pool view and we were very pleased withthe room. Lovely and big with big patio doors and big windows. Very quiet.
Review 76:It is beside a busy road, and although we facing the pool we come from a quite place so was noisy but we got to sleep
Review 77:staff on reception lovely, gave a great recommendation for restaurants. Beds were comfy. Pool area nice bonus but be warned the pool is cold
Review 78:I had booked Twin Superior (30 metres and with the refrigerator). In the hotel I've got a little room (10 metres and without the refrigerator). The Chief of Reception explained me that I had reserved no "Twin Superior", but "Superior Double Room" (in the same price). Very funny. "Superior Double Room" doesn't exist on the website. Finally I had to pay for "Twin Superior"...
Review 79:The recepcionist, Tomas, gave me his sandwich, when I arrived very late in Christmas Eve. Thank you very much:)
Review 80:Bed was not a double as requested but 2 singles put together and very hard- I had 3 really sleepless nights! On leaving I told reception who told me I should have said before and something would have been done !! So yes I should have complained.
Review 81:Mostly everything was excellent.
Review 82:No safe in room, some traffic noise (not bad), weird smell like gasoline in room, bed very firm with springs that could be felt (still a good nights sleep).
Review 83:Location, friendly staff, nice breakfast, clean. Wifi worked OK in room, without registration page, a big plus. Stayed a week without problems.
Review 84:Traffic noise, even though triple, glazed, close to main road. Car park entrance very tight with car parked on ramp. Kitchen implements a bit basic , we bought our own knives.
Review 85:Large junior suite 6mbs wifi for free Friendly staff Location in an up market suburb near a lovely park. Good vfm 10 mins walk to city centre Furniture comfortable Balcony and lovely gardens.
Review 86:We asked for a large bed, but two beds put together is not a large bed. This could be better.
Review 87:Very large room, nice and helpful staff, close to the city center and to various restaurants.
Review 88:- Run down pool and garden - Dull common areas - Requested room high up - awarded a room on bottomfloor with a vew over the trash/garbage storage
Review 89:- Location with walking distance to city centre
Review 90:The room was spacious and very comfortable, we found a lovely restaurant around the corner, good area. Pablo on reception very helpful. Will stay there again !
Review 91:Noisy location because of the busy Rambla de Santa Cruz passing thehotel - didn't worry us much but light sleepers might struggle. Forparking, you either need to be very lucky with on street parking or payan extra 14 Euros per night for a space in the garage.
Review 92:Very spacious room with balconies overlooking the pool (we were upgradedto a large suite free of charge so don't know about size of regularrooms). Friendly helpful staff. Pleasant pool and area around it.
Review 93:Wifi did not work because some problems at the telephone company. Requests to compensate this, however were ignored. Missed oppertunity for the hotel manager i would say.
Review 94:Very poor lighting throughout the hotel. Decor in suite dark green and brown (lots of it) very dismal. Swimming pool area could be nice but needs a good clean - one man with a pressure washer to clean the slabs and wash down the sunbeds could make a huge difference in a day, but looks very grubby just now. Breakfast is very poor standard, coffee undrinkable. We just stayed one night, that was long enough.
Review 95:Junior suite generous size. Reasonably central location. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Garage parking available - recommend - not much parking available close at hand.
Review 96:The common parts are quite poor, especially the elevator. Breakfast was nothing special.
Review 97:The room was very beautiful and comfortable and the staff was very kind.
Review 98:good location of the hotel, very friendly staff, clean facilities and continental breakfast. Swimming pool was nice and clean too although a little bit noisy due to the main street next to the hotel.
Review 99:Room was too dark. We had to pay for tea & coffee facilities and because we had an apartment they also wanted to charge us for using the kitchen!.
Review 100:Spacious clean room and a good sized comfy bed. Only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Santa Cruz. A great stay for a weekend break but not a full holiday.
Review 101:bar shut too early
Review 102:fantastic room. great location. lovely staff
Review 103:No public parking space available
Review 104:Very nice room (upgrade to suite) Nice swimming pool
Review 105:Nice area. Clean and great room. Staff very friendly. Perfect for US.
Review 106:Very noisy near avenue
Review 107:The convenience to see the area, and to get picked up for our tour of La Gomera island.
Review 108:Old hotel, poor breakfast, lot of noise from the street and traffic
Review 109:nice staff
Review 110:People at the front desk were very helpful. Nice breakfast. Quiet location.
Review 111:Bar and Dining areas are dull and uninviting Breakfast produce was poor quality.
Review 112:Accommodation & Room Servicing was excellent
Review 113:Extremely friendly and professional staff at all places at the hotel:at the reception, at the bar, at the breakfast and among the cleaning staff.
Review 114:WC didnt work, bad breakfast

Review 126:Location in best part of town, the rooms and the staff
