Reviews for Hôtel Les Gens De Mer - Le Havre

Review 1:Breakfast could have had more variety.

Review 2:Convenient from the ferry, easy walking distance to the town. Wonderful market right opposite. Parking was easy.

Review 3:Not a bad experience at all but hotel looked quite shabby.

Review 4:Hotel was adequate for overnight stay and location suited us for ferry crossing the next day. Staff were helpful and breakfast was buffet style.

Review 5:Reception desk can be v busy !

Review 6:Near to ferry terminal. good food in restaurant , breakfast OK. Parking across the street is free overnight, move to main ( small ) car park behind hotel at 9am !

Review 7:The street was loud. The coffee at breakfast was really bad. WIFI weak in the room. The bathroom had a smell.

Review 8:The location was nice and they had a market outside Monday morning.

Review 9:We felt that the hotel would benefit from improvements to décor and infrastructure. For example: The plastic backing to the curtains was peeling off creating the unpleasant impression that they were torn. The room had no decoration apart from a crudely daubed, indistinct mural on one wall. One bedside light did not work. There was no plug for the bath (fortunately we brought our own). The bath was very slippery with no shower mat provided; in our opinion very hazardous. Thread-bare stair carpet and gloomy, long corridors.

Review 10:Our room was spacious with plenty of space to store clothes. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The reception staff were most helpful as were those in the breakfast room. The buffet breakfast was certainly adequate and featured the smallest croissants in France! The hotel is well-placed to drive to the car ferries.

Review 11:Evening meal was nowhere near as good as the breakfast. Our advice would be venture out to other establishments for evening fayre

Review 12:Ideal for overnight stop in Le Havre - Clean Comfortable and Central

Review 13:If you have had time to explore the town, you may perhaps be found in a better place for breakfast.

Review 14:Great location next to the city center. Privat parking. Claen room. The hotel is yes already old and worn, but if you can live with it, so a good place to sleep. Attractions near the hotel and a lot of different styles of food.

Review 15:Far too bright in the ro at night, curtains wouldn't close properly and window was really stiff to open/close.

Review 16:Good location, close to the port.

Review 17:You can see mold in the bathroom. There is no hairdryer.

Review 18:The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to car ferries. There is a car park directly at the back of the hotel.

Review 19:No fridge for drinks and medications Need one english TV channel if possible Spare pillows summer weight duvet Tea/Coffee making facilities

Review 20:size of room shower WiFi great Nice walk to beach

Review 21:Friendly, helpful staff - lots of nearby parking - good breakfast selection and dinner menu was varied. It's pretty basic and the bedrooms were dated, but given the price we weren't expecting any more. For an overnight stay it's absolutely fine.

Review 22:Wifi connected but didnt work. @ the reception there were 6/7 Indian like guys hanging @ couch, no reason what they where doing..in the morning they were still there!

Review 23:Nice basic room

Review 24:Hotel was ok, nothing to really complain. Neverthells from the location point of view if I would go another time in that area I would simply choose a hotel somewhere in Honfluer.

Review 25:The bath was extremely slippery so that when my wife stepped into it to take a shower, her foot skidded and she fell to the floor. Long, narrow, gloomy corridors with rows of doors were reminiscent of a student residence.

Review 26:A very welcoming and helpful person on reception. A fairly large room with adequate space to accommodate clothing. Good modern bathroom with plenty of hot water. A good continental-style buffet breakfast with facility to boil an egg. Despite some reservations, this hotel is a good, economical stopover for the ferry.

Review 27:Rooms are quite dated and tired but still somewhere that we would stay again.

Review 28:Location was good for the port and the town. Close to good bars and restaurants Easy to park Fast internet was available Staff were friendly and helpful Spacious room and bathroom Good breakfast

Review 29:My dinner was a bit oily - herring with apple and potato, followed by white fish and mash. Both tasted very good however, but not for someone trying to follow a low fat diet! Husband had terrine of fish followed by the salmon which were both tasty and not oily.

Review 30:Near to the docks Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.Clean room, comfy beds, lovely shower, useful shower gel, soft towels, great breakfast.

Review 31:The curtains were not nearly wide enough to cover the window! We managed to hang some clothing over the end and obscured most of the incoming light.

Review 32:Convenient to the ferry. We were able to park the car free in the street outside overnight, though the hotel also ahs a car park

Review 33:The rooms need maintenance In one room the handle of the window was broken and the toilet door would not lock in the other room the sink was blocked

Review 34:The hotel is in a nice location. the interior are nicely thoughout

Review 35:The noise of the street downstairs but not that much as Le Havre is not exactly a very loud city. The breakfast is expensive for what it is. The restaurant is great and serves fast.

Review 36:It is clean, the rooms are large, the hotel is well located right at the center of the city, the staff is friendly and the bathroom was super clean.

Review 37:I thought that the hotel was showing signs of age, very run down.

Review 38:location was very good

Review 39:Great

Review 40:Sullen, unhelpful staff. The hotel is adequate, nothing more.

Review 41:Great location, central for everything in le havre

Review 42:Very simple hotel, bed, TV, bathroom no fuss: just what you need.

Review 43:Hotel was very tired looking could do with updating(makeover) limited secure parking

Review 44:Central location

Review 45:We were going to stay two nights but changed our mind. The staff is really nice but the hotel is shabby. Not much to say for LeHavre either.

Review 46:A bit outdate and it doesn't give the sense of cleanness.

Review 47:Nice location near the port.

Review 48:None.

Review 49:Value for the money.

Review 50:outdated interior & no place to hang the shower head, had to hold it in your hand

Review 51:Price

Review 52:The lift was very small and slow

Review 53:Sammy in reception. The parking.

Review 54:Having to leave

Review 56:Breakfast

Review 57:Location of the hotel

Review 58:Needs refurbishment

Review 59:Location to seafront

Review 60:-Uncomfortable bed -No internet in the room

Review 61:-Nice location very close to the city center and the beach -Clean -Spacious room

Review 62:nothing

Review 63:staff, location, cleanliness, nautical motifs and overall comfort

Review 64:Mail night receptionist was rather miserable but helpful.

Review 65:Rooms were large, clean and very modern. Privathe car parking only €4.00

Review 66:decor is rather pushing off. place reminds me students hostels with only freshly exchanged carpets.

Review 67:Big room, clean.

Review 68:free wifi not available, line not stable at all.

Review 69:the price is affordable, large room size

Review 70:- good location - nice "ship" style of hotel

Review 71:near sea, stunning church and the volcano complex. Large room, warm and comfy and free wifi.

Review 72:Very noisy

Review 73:Locality to restaurants

Review 74:The wifi connection was not good when we were at the hotel

Review 75:Everything, for example, the strong, hot and excellent shower.

Review 76:Overal condition of hotel, simple brekfast

Review 77:Lokation, parking

Review 78:Plain looking building not representative of website

Review 79:Location

Review 80:They said parking was on site but when I arrived it was full. They should let one book in advance as Parking area is very small and my car was chocked full of my clothing/computers etc. also my television did not work and everyone in the restaurant was waiting so long to order and even longer to get their meal that I saw a couple stand up and put on their jackets to leave. Even at the bar I had to wait a long time to get a bar-person to give me a glass of wine. The service in the restaurant is atrocious. My family and I have been in business for over 40 years and we never lose clients as we respect the fact that they give us business so we don't mess them about. We have big printing companys. You need to fix these problems and stop inconveniencing people.

Review 81:Room clean and comfortable.

Review 82:We found some bugs on the carpet and in the washroom (I think they were some kind of silverfish). The TV didn't work. The room is far from new and is quite ordinary (walls are a bit dirty, cables coming out from walls, etc). Didn't bother us but some staff doesn't speak English.

Review 83:Great location (close to downtown & water), it's a simple place that's not too expensive.

Review 84:- Old furniture and decoration - No fridge, kettle in the room - Towels are clean but old - Bedding are old and have holes - Cannot regulate temperature as you like

Review 85:- Friendly staff - Big rooms - 5 min to beach

Review 86:in summers rooms could get a bit too warm. No AC.

Review 87:Good location and value for money. Free parking just outside the hotel. Late check-in option worked for us. Room size is decent.

Review 88:Breakfast items were not bad but could be better.

Review 89:It is a good and budget-friendly hotel very close to the city centre and sea beach. Rooms are quite big with a spacious bathroom. Private parking is just at the back of the hotel. Breakfast is also reasonable and the hotel staffs are quite friendly.

Review 90:Cigarette-smell. Rippet carpet on the stairs.

Review 91:Working-class charme. We liked the coffee and the baguette at thebreakfast buffet. The other offers were a bit proletaric-style.

Review 92:The only complaint I had was that the remote for the TV did not work. Probably if I had informed the person at the reception, I would have got the battery replaced.

Review 93:The staff were friendly and most of them spoke in English as well. The rooms were well facilitated and quite big. The area is also pretty nice. I believe for all the facilities and comfort, the hotel should be rated atleast as 3 star.

Review 94:Not best location for a holiday. Bit of a backstreet. We were warned to remove valuables from the car.

Review 95:Very clean comfortable hotel. Friendly Staff. Good location for a stopover while travelling.

Review 96:The bathroom needs refurbishing (old shower, old tap etc), the water inbathroom was leaking, impossible to draw the curtains, two separate bedsinstead of one, there was a smell in the bathroom going probably from thekitchen down so you could smell everything what was being cooked thatday, generally dissapointed

Review 97:Very close to the beach

Review 98:I travel a lot for business, but never stayed in a hotel like this. Sorry to say so but this is not the name "hotel" worthy. Never stayed in a hotel where the bathroom was so small & so pimitif. I booked for two nights but left after one.

Review 99:Besides the location I didn't like anything about the hotel., Sorry the girl at the reception was very friendly.

Review 100:Matresses were old and bad, Wi Fi wasnt available and the rooms are very noisy due poor isolation on windows

Review 101:Location isnt bad, parking inside and outside the Hotel

Review 102:Breakfast was a little poor, especially in the weekend. Salt (for thecold eggs) was not placed in view. Room was cleaned very late in theafternoon Shower was al chalked up, so the water didn't flow as wished. The whole place looks as if it could do with renovation. On the websiteit looked much better. The cappuccino from the machine in the diningroomwas awful, it was much too sweet and there was a distinct chocolatetaste (same machine) in it. No single rooms

Review 103:Staff tried to help as well as possible. They were polite and spokeenough English to help me through, as my French was not good enough.Situation of the hotel in the middle of the city (near ourconcertlocation, I.E. the Cathedral) was pleasant. Parking at the backof the hotel was convenient.

Review 104:The hotel was quite tatty in its decor, and there were some parts whichclearly needed some refreshing. There were areas which looked as thoughthey had been half decorated, but there was no evidence of work beingcarried out to complete them.

Review 105:All of the staff we met were very courteous and helpful. The breakfastwas also fine.

Review 106:The hotel is conviniently located. The staff is welcoming, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our stay in Les Gens De Mer and we would like to come back in the future.

Review 110:Bit small room for bigger family, good for two-three

Review 111:Good location, clean rooms, helpful personnel

Review 112:The food in the restaurant was not good & the service was friendly but amateurish !

Review 117:the exterior is not very attractive

Review 118:In the center of the city well equipped and good room quite at the backside a bar till late to get drinks

Review 119:Good location, large room, fantastic bathroom.

Review 120:The wifi was only in the lobby, and infrequent. Pay-access-wifi was in the basement.

Review 121:basic hotel with no facilities

Review 122:position of hotel in Le Havre + parking breakfast was good value

Review 123:Smell in the room. Non smoking room but smell of smoke.

Review 124:Large room for 3 and the price.
