Reviews for Omena Hotel Jyväskylä

Review 1:The extra beds could have been made ready (last time they were!). When arriving at midnight with the kids it would have made the life easier...

Review 2:Easy, simple. The lack of staff just makes things easier!

Review 3:Shower/toilet quite small. Using the shower makes the toilet floor wet. Shower curtain would prevent this.

Review 4:The easiness: no check-in or check-out and no keys.

Review 5:After the shower all the floor in the bathroom gets wet. It's ok if you stay for one night, but if more - it becomes uncomfortable. No free parking for the guests.

Review 6:The hotel is located in the centre of the town. The room is large enough, you have a TV, fridge, kettle and microwave. WiFi works fine.

Review 7:it wasn't easy to find the entrance to the hotel In the bathroom, there was a noise of running water for a long time after you flushed the toilet

Review 8:easy to use lots of information, you won't get lost as soon as you get into the hotel good for a short and cheap stay

Review 9:No reception! Which means you can't leave your luggage anywhere until the 4 pm check in, and after checking out. No keys, just a code sent to your email. What about people who don't have internet connection within Finland?! The corridors looked quite depressing and dreary too.

Review 10:The location and the basic facilities in the rooms were nice and well kept. The sheets and the pillow gave me static though.

Review 11:Late check in at 16:00 o'clock and check out at 12:00 and no place to leave your luggage. The price could be cheaper.

Review 12:The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel situated in the city center and near the main attractions.

Review 13:High price for what you get - also, other guests were really drunk and loud on a Friday night student pub crawl. Three in the morning booming bass type stuff.

Review 14:Easy location.

Review 15:Saturday night was terrible! People running in the corridor, knocking at my door till 4 a.m. and a lot of noise till at least five, when I could fall asleep! I felt really insecure and on Sunday morning I had a terrible head hacke due to the fact I had a horrible sleep! A person to keep control is definitely required!

Review 16:I liked the location in the center and close to the bus and train station. The cleaning lady, an Asian girl, was also very nice and kind, answering the requests I had: leaving the luggage till 1:00 p.m.

Review 17:The curtains didn't cover all the windows. I did not manage to regulate the temperature (in the nights it was minus degrees outside). The all-purpose soap had heaps of parabens.

Review 18:Excellent location and value for money. Clean and modern. Very good bed!

Review 19:Locating the hotel was rather difficult. Unavailability of parking, No one to contact or ask help except for specific hours. No touristic info. or guidance.

Review 20:Location, cleanliness

Review 21:Overnight parking in the neighboring parking house was quite expensive. Less than 24 hours of parking was about 36 euros. I recommend trying to find some less expensive places nearby, there must be such.

Review 22:Just a quarter from the main (pedestrian) street with good bars, pubs and restaurants. Room was clean and in good shape.

Review 23:The code did not work for the outside doors, only for the hotel room. I had to wait in the rain until another guest let me in. After 3 phonecalls with the helpdesk I finally received an extra code for the hotel doors, as a remote activation of a new code did not work out. Bad experience, almost like a nightmare.

Review 24:Self serve hotel? Key pad to enter hotel and room. No staff, no reception, when touring I want to interact with people not be treated like a robot. Last time I will ever stay in one of those.

Review 25:It was central.

Review 26:It was cold in the room, and the heating did not work (it was cold even though June, although towels were warm).

Review 27:Comfortable and clean room, good internet, excellent location. An unusual experience (the staff I do not see at all).

Review 28:1. The hotel felt very unfriendly, like a storage centre. 2. I did not feel safe in the environment and decided to cut my stay short after one night. 3. The bed was most uncomfortable. 4. The door security system was most unpredictable. There was no reset button, and entering the supplied key code did not open the door on several attempts. Finally, I entered the # key to create an error - I could then enter the code correctly. Obviously, the system is on a continuous loop. So if another visitor enters a single digit, the loop is out of step with the expected code. This is a security fault!

Review 29:We got sent a new entrance code less than 24hrs before check in, different to the one we got the day before, and luckily we had wifi on our bus to check our emails before we arrived, otherwise we would have been locked out.

Review 30:The hotel was set very close to the main bus station. The room was comfortable with a fridge and microwave and kettle. The bathroom was clean and a good shower. Wifi was good. Check out 12pm is nice.

Review 31:Opening codes on doors. Jyväskylä parking takes some arranging, but the is Sokos indoors parking garrage just next door for euro12 per night.

Review 32:Free wifi and location. Lots of powder coffee in kitchen. Refridgerator.

Review 33:The sound isolation to the corridor is very poor. Lots of drunk people running to their rooms during the night was really annoying. No staff at all felt a bit unsafe during the night. The room was a bit cold even if I turned the AC off. No parking place.

Review 34:The price was ok and the location is just in the city center. The furniture was in good condition and the room was nice. The room reminds me of the Helsinki-Stockholm ferries rooms.

Review 35:There was no heating and it was really cold.Radiators were cold and aircon did not work.

Review 36:It is in the downtown. Not really good with car. Parking fee is to be payed from 8:00-20:00, but there is a big parking lot next to the hotel. If you go to the lakes and come back late it is an ideal place.

Review 37:There is no reception/staff which is weird, but ok.

Review 38:It was very clean, spacious and well located. Receiving the door code well ahead of time was good

Review 39:Stayed 5 days, expensive, no cleaning during the 5 days, no new towels and no service or people around. Everything is made for the comfort of the owners, which makes it very uncomfortable for customers. They send you a code and room number in a text message, then you are on your own. TV did not work one of the days.

Review 40:Free wifi.

Review 41:Looks a bit like a prison; no personnel, no breakfast. This is the concept of course which makes it cheap.

Review 42:If you want to stay cheap you can take this one.

Review 43:That the phone didn't work and I needed help with my payment and the was no one too. I had to use my mobile to call the hotel service help. The phone must be working at all times

Review 44:I like that the is no key or card for the door . You just use the password from your email and it clean and affordable

Review 45:Entrance more like a prison, help desk phone not working, cleaning of rooms once a week so by 6th day room was dirty and trash in room and bathroom full, windows do not open, there is a kettle but no mugs

Review 46:Location was good Heating was good

Review 47:See remark about curtains, that was the only thing.

Review 48:Quick and easy to book, even very last minute ( we wanted an extra room when we were already there. All the amenities were fine. The only small remark I would make is that the curtains could have been a bit broader. It was a bit difficult to cover the entire window.

Review 49:Could really have done with a couple of bowls and cups and real cutlery (not plastic). I don't see the point of a microwave and fridge without utensils.

Review 50:Very good location near train station and shops/restaurants.

Review 51:The room we stayed in particular had a huge problem with the shower head. It was clearly broken (it had a huge crack as if it fell really hard on the ground) with water being leaking everywhere. It breaks my heart to see so much precious water being wasted like that. Water in Finland is one of the best in my opinion and should not be treated like that.

Review 52:I normally stay at Omena hotels all over Finland. They are reliable, comfortable, and affordable. In general, my stays are always ok. Just my last 2 stays (One in Jyvaskyla and another one in Helsinki) there were tiny problems with the room.

Review 53:Bed was not great but didn't stop me from sleeping Curtains didn't fit window properly

Review 54:Simple and easy to book, no messing, effective. Works well. Love omenahotelli

Review 55:Beds had mattress toppers by 4th night back starting to ache. No comfy chairs and if more than 2 people staying in a room for 4 you have to use the end of the beds as seats for 2 people or make up their beds into seats again! Poor really as space for more seating was available. Good for 2 poor for 3/4.

Review 56:There was room to move around for two or three people. It was warm and felt secure.

Review 57:windows are closed, you mustn't open them. There is an air conditioning, but it it not the same as the fresh air. The hotel has no parking

Review 58:a nice clean warm room. There is a microwave oven, a kettle, a small fridge, tea, coffee, a table. You can cook an easy food. The hotel is in the centre of the town, many shopping possibilities are around it.

Review 59:Was not aware that at times you must use your credit card to gain entry into the hotel. Had I not had the Credit Card that I booked the Hotel with I presume I would have been locked out. The other thing is that it is always nice when travelling to have one International TV News station and the only English was CNBC ... a business channel

Review 60:Very clean and modern facility. A 1/2 block away from the downtown and malls, bars and rstaurants

Review 61:Some times you need to try 5times until door code works. Room was not absolutely clean, was not tidied up during the whole 4 days stay.no possibility to leave luggage...

Review 62:Perfect location, in the middle of the center! Shops, bars, public transport all within 5min walk.

Review 63:didn't realise there was no reception or staff

Review 64:simple, and good location. not too expensive

Review 65:Parking, comfort of bed.

Review 66:Great budget hotell.

Review 67:Great budget hotel that punches well above its weight! Very clean and comfortable. Great stay.

Review 68:clean good and quiet

Review 69:Really late check-in (16pm)

Review 70:The room was awesome.

Review 71:Clean, comfortable, quiet. I stayed a bit more than a week and I think it was a good choice.

Review 72:This was my second visit in this hotel and I was very surprised that a floor and a remote control was so dirty.

Review 73:Where to park the vehicle while getting luggage in?

Review 74:Clean and quiet. Coffee available

Review 75:The beds are worn out.

Review 76:there is no reception and no staff. It is impossible to open the windows. Only 1 cleaning done in 10 nights!!!

Review 77:good location and wifi connection

Review 78:nothing all was ok

Review 79:All was perfect

Review 80:Location of city

Review 81:Location outside city.

Review 82:Nice bedroom and breakfast

Review 83:No parking area.

Review 84:Location is quit good.

Review 85:no car park

Review 86:location

Review 87:Would have liked cutlery. Fridge small

Review 88:Location excellent

Review 89:windows that do not open

Review 90:confort, location, size, pilows, facilities to food.

Review 91:Great location, big clean room with air-conditioning. Good value for money.

Review 92:no reception

Review 93:Sijainti oli hyvä ja huone ajoi asiansa, oli paikka, jossa kävin nukkumassa.

Review 94:TV have no Russian channels and there was no picture, just sound.

Review 95:The bed is wonderful.

Review 96:-

Review 97:Reception-less and self-help concept was very interesting and convenient.

Review 98:I didn`t like that the door code was sent after we sent several emails.

Review 99:Room was clean, location is good.

Review 100:- Entrance was atypical as it was a big gate instead of a normal door. - Handshower was broken

Review 101:- In downtown - Easy to find

Review 102:bit dirty, especially common premises, not very well informed helpline staff

Review 103:Great location

Review 104:expensive for a hotel without a reception

Review 105:clean room, easy acces

Review 106:somehow clinical

Review 107:location next to center, train station, etc. clean

Review 108:Pillows are flat.

Review 109:Every room has a microwave oven and fridge.

Review 110:everything

Review 111:nothing

Review 112:Closed Windows Very hot rooms

Review 113:Location Wi-Fi

Review 114:Locations Price

Review 115:There is no parking facility in the hotel, (the garage nearby under the shopping center is very expensive). There are only plastic glasses - when making coffee it is very unhealthy pouring the boiling water right from the water boiler into a cheap plastic one-way glass. I would definately expect normal glasses.

Review 116:very spaciuos and clean room

Review 117:The curtains could have been better. I'm not Finnish, so it was alittle difficult to sleep with the wonderful midnight sun! Also -perhaps a little cutlery would be a good idea (especially sincethere's a microwave) The above minor points are why I rated thehotel "good" & not "excellent" for facilitiesand comfort.

Review 118:Kettle, fridge, microwave, wifi, hot water, decent bed, good location.

Review 119:There was no door for the shower, so when you take a shower the whole bathroom gets wet. Sth minor but would be great if they fix it.

Review 120:Very close to train station. Plenty of tea and coffee bags, microwave and fridge in the room.

Review 121:Fuss-free check-in and check-out. Quiet and within walking distance to the railway and bus station. Conveniently located near shops and restaurants. Close to the lake Jyvasjarvi and the Harju park. The availability of the microwave oven and the refrigerator allows for simple meals to be prepared in the comfort of our room.

Review 122:The no lobby thing is a good thing, but it may also has some drawbacks, such as the fact that I had no one to directly ask a bill so that I could be refunded by my lab... I'm pretty sure that the documents I have been sent by email can do the job though, but I still would have appreciated to directly ask someone about that, but it is just a minor problem. Apart from that, nothing wrong!

Review 123:We loved the room itself, the design. The fact that there is no lobby means no paperwork, and thus there is less trouble. The hotel is very quiet.

Review 124:The toilet was a bit small. The cups were all plastic ones which didn't quite work when making tea/coffee.

Review 125:The code worked perfectly. The room was quite big and the wifi worked fine. It was really quite off the street (the city is quiet anyway). There are plenty shops near by.

Review 126:You feel a bit abandoned, as the hotel has no staff at all. But that I knew when I booked. I only would have appreciated more facilities for food and beverages available for customers, not just a poor vending machine on each floor. rooms are tiny and filled with useless furniture.

Review 127:It is in the city centre and it was very close to the venue of the conference I attended.

Review 128:Shower is timed and kept shutting off, which was weird. The hotel is notstaffed, so check in was all online- I liked this but I wasn't awareof this until I got there. No parking, cost me $60 Euro to park in Sokosnext door!

Review 129:Clean room and overall hotel, strong Wifi and easy to get to

Review 130:Thin curtains! Take an eyeshade, close to 24 hours daylight in summer

Review 131:Great location-close to city centre, train/bus /stations. Great value for Finland

Review 132:I don't have any comments against.

Review 133:I like the way Omena Hotel is organized. I didn't see no one during my check in, my stay and check out. Everything is fully self-service. Reservation, room number and room code delivery. Just great.
