Reviews for Guesthouse Marknagil
Review 1:The staff were very friendly and always eager to help, in one case offering advice in obtaining football tickets. There was a small but delicious all you can eat buffet for breakfast and dinner, as well as wifi in the lobby.
Review 2:Be clear that it is a student facility that only takes guests during the summer. That means two single beds (but we placed the mattresses on the floor to make a double). Shared bathroom is only shared with one other room. Place is a little further away from "downtown" but Torshavn is very small so it is not a long walk. This isn't a criticism, just an advisory.
Review 3:Lovely, friendly, attentive staff. Great breakfast, very good price. Excellent views. Very convenient free bus service to "downtown" (except on Sundays). Clean, good wifi, and we would stay here again for sure.
Review 4:Bus service is limited outside regular business hours, so you must be willing to walk 15-20 minutes or take a taxi if you do not have your own transportation. That is not a problem for me and I was happy with the location. However, travelers with substantive physical limitations should bear this in mind.
Review 5:Manager Willi was friendly, informative, caring, and very helpful. Tops marks for customer service.Though simple, these university dormitory suite-style accommodations with en-suite facilities were spacious and in very good order despite the age of the building. I was much more satisfied with the product than at a 3.5 star hotel in Milan ten days later. The views from the room were fantastic. Good value for money and no complaints.
Review 6:sound insulation is not very good. every night we can hear the neighbour's sound when they open and close the door.
Review 7:good staffs. in fact, this hotel is a school dormitory building. we like dinner in this hotel
Review 8:As one has to share bathroom with the other twin-room and you never knowhow individuals respect themselves and others, it happened one eveningwhen I got back to the guesthouse that the shared toilet's basin hadbeen left badly dirty and that's very unpleasant/ disgustingreally with blood stains!
Review 9:This was my first time to Tórshavn. Once you have understood where theguesthouse is located you realize that for a person who likes walkinglike me you easily find your way to the center of the city. It'squite a walk but very nice one. Also from the windows ...if you have gota room with a view towards the sea (over the city) it's really verynice. Everything is very simple and furniture in rooms pretty worn out(as this is students dormitory during winter months) but it'senough, clean, staff great and good breakfast. Two pillows provided inthe room of different stiffness which is excellent and should be in allguesthouses, hotels and bed and breakfasts.
Review 10:Far away from city centre Very outdated (the thing to hold the shower was broken) Dirty stairs
Review 11:Very helpful and friendly manager Cheap Nice breakfast with soy milk (I can't drink cow's milk)
Review 12:A bit more variety in the breakfast fare would be a nice touch, especially for guests staying for more than a few days.
Review 13:Without a doubt, the best part of our stay was interacting with the guesthouse manager, Willi. He was very helpful in answering questions and even made excursion trip reservations for us. He also was very helpful in resolving any issues with the room.
Review 14:The room and the sheets smelled like smoke. The location is quite far from the centre. During daytime and weekdays, that's no problem, because of the free city bus. In the evening you'll have to walk for about half an hour.
Review 15:Friedly host and good breakfast.
Review 16:The only real drawback is that there was no wifi in the rooms. There was a wired connection but since I only had my phone this was no good. They do have excellent wifi downstairs but it would be nice to be able to use it in the rooms.
Review 17:The staff is exceptionally friendly. I had some nasty arrival and departure times with the ferry (03:00 AM and 22:00 PM) and the owner really went out of his way to give me the room for as long as possible. I also could join the breakfast on the day of my arrival, even though my early arrival was unannounced. This together with the very good location and the free coffee made it a really nice stay.
Review 18:Very friendly and excellent breakfast spread. Evening meal buffet was also very good and the beer was cheap. The rooms were very clean. The local free bus stops right outside.
Review 19:All right but family rooms extremely small. The bathroom is so small that it takes an effort to close the door, the door hits the sink. nearly impossible to shower because of limited space. Come first serve first at the buffet, once a certain food runs out they do not refill.
Review 20:Great location
Review 21:Obviously it's a bit off - on the other hand, it's not too bad considering the small distances in Torshavn. Not very fancy, but you're not paying for fancy either.
Review 22:It's clean, it's functional, you get what you need at a low cost. Not fancy at all, but if you're the kind of traveller who doesn't stay indoors at the hotel, it is a perfectly alright place to stay compared to the downtown hotels that can charge quite a lot during high season. Torshavn is such a small city anyway, so it doesn't take more than 15 minutes to walk from the guesthouse to the harbour (or a 4 minute bus tour)
Review 23:Currently nowhere to get an evening meal except in town, but hotel was working on that issue
Review 24:Free bus stop was just out on road and we became quite adept at catching it.Good breakfast
Review 25:20 min walk uphill from sentrum. Well-worn furniture.
Review 26:Willi who is running the place, e is very helpfull. Big breakfastroom with view. Good breakfast. 20 min walk down to sentrum.free busses going 3 tmes per our.
Review 27:Location..except on Sat.Sun., there are busses to city centre. If holidays, must walk to everywhere. But, nice landscape's view because it locates on the hill.
Review 28:Friendly staff, good quality&quantity breakfast. Nothing trouble with staff's support. Thank you!
Review 29:Not very close to the city, located on a hill, but very close to the bus stop (which is free of charge), so it's not that bad.
Review 30:Very friendly staff, good breakfast, clean bathrooms and accomodation.
Review 31:Wifi is lobby only, need your own cable to access it in the rooms. Rooms outdated and Spartan, the beds are converted couches and you can hear people snoring through the walls. Property is about 30 mins from city centre by foot and at the top of a hill meaning that walking from the bus terminal on the far side of the centre is impractical. No TVs or tea making facilities in the rooms and no lifts so luggage has to be carried up the stairs.
Review 32:Spacious rooms, each with a small storage area / hallway and separate toilet and shower rooms. One side of the hotel has commanding views over the city. Manager very helpful in person and by email. In room heating. Spare towels & other supplies left on carts for easy access on every floor. Reasonable breakfast in large room with good view of the city. Public restrooms (useful is returning to collect stored luggage after checkout).
Review 33:Time apparently goes much faster on the Faroe Islands than on the rest of this Planet!
Review 34:Fantastic stay - made possible by staff and facilities. Unformal, extremely practical rooms without superficial luxuryalike kitsch "hotelstyle". Better than Hotel Hafnia! (Also excellent!) Breakfast +++++ View from windows +++++ Attitude +++++
Review 35:No proper blackout blinds in windows made it very difficult to sleep given constant daylight at this time of year. Will put a few sheets of light proof paper and some masking tape in my bag another time. No access to tea/coffee or hot drinks other than at breakfast - a simple vending machine would be helpful.
Review 36:Basic, budget accomodation that is terrific value for money. Clean, if dated, rooms. Great view over harbour from room. Heating still working OK in July (Needed if wet and outside temp only 10C!) Easy to find in rental car with plenty of on site parking. Free bus service immediately outside to get into town centre was great. Wired internet (free) in room worked well. (Remember to take a mobile wifi hotspot to plug into it if you have a tablet/phone.) On site staff very helpful.
Review 37:Breakfast , wi fi , cheap
Review 38:Very friendly staff. Very cheap rates despite all other places was sold out on Faroe Islands. Thank you so much!
Review 39:Very friendly and welcoming and helpful tips. Bed linen and towels also provided even for one night. Super big breakfast.
Review 40:God staff. We couldn't use tho room we were offered and we were immediately given another one. Excellent!
Review 41:Very nice place and very good accommodation with good connection by public transport with centre, friendly staff.
Review 42:I liked the guy in the reception. He had a lots of patience with us tourists and was very helfull and the food was excellent.
Review 43:15 minutes walking from city centre
Review 44:great view of city and fiord! simple accommodation and low priced. Excellent selection at breakfast. Positive and friendly staff!
Review 45:It is uphill, and we had to walk for more than 30 minutes with heavy bags from the harbour. Guess I could have checked.
Review 46:The personal was very nice, and we got a free upgrade since our original room was smelling cigarette smoke.
Review 47:Very good value for the money. Friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast with good variety. Good housekeeping
Review 48:Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing breakfast and clean accommodations.
