Reviews for Atún y Chocolate
Review 1:- I paid a high price. After I made my booking, the price went down more than 25% for the same period on Booking.com, I told the manager about this but she didn't want to lower the price for me.- Wifi is not good.- The house I had -- the one just beside the main entrance to Atun y Chocolate -- has three major drawbacks.(1) Unfortunately, the house I had was surrounded by the "public path" used by other guests, and only a 50cm-hgh "wall" separates the terrace from the public path. So, you feel like staying in a public garden. Worse still, people tend to walk right through your terrace to get to the main entrance, since it is a kind of shortcut.(2) There are no curtains on the windows and door. As there can be people walking outside any time, this is very disturbing especially at night, when the inside of the house can be seen clearly, from only 1 or 2 meters away. Imagine living inside a glass house placed in a hotel lobby.(3) There is no soundproofing between this house and the house upstairs. The wooden ceiling (or floor for the upstairs house) squeaks with the slightest footsteps upstairs, and conversations from upstairs can be clearly heard. Very unfortunately, the couple who stayed upstairs walked around a lot, and worse still, the woman was talking -- shouting, actually -- on her mobile from mid-morning to late morning or noon, and from early evening to late night. The situation is worst in the bathroom, supposedly the most private space in a house: when you want to relax in the shower, you hear every word of her incessant shouting conversation, plus the loud footsteps. You hear her shouting too when you try to relax in the terrace, as their windows are just above your terrace. You hear her shouting even after you leave the compound -- one of their windows is situated just above the main gate.As a result of these factors, I paid a HIGH PRICE for a VERY STRESSFUL stay in a beautiful rustic house, totally unable to relax.
Review 2:The house is beautiful -- the others seem nice too -- and the location is spectacular: high up at the inner end of Hermigua, with stunning views of the valley and the sea (in the distance). This great scenery can be enjoyed from the terrace and from inside the house, which is decorated in a traditional way with a great rustic feel. There is no TV or radio -- a great change from "modern life".
Review 3:The studio where we stayed was made of a former wine cellar (in a very old house). It is quite humid and has a sort of a musty odour. However, this is just a remark it really depends on the level of tolerance if this is a problem for you or not. The real problem is the noise. The roof is very thin and there were other people staying above us. We could literally hear a pin drop upstairs..every step, every word. Those guys were watching loud TV up to late hours. It was like having them near our bed. Very uncomfortable - especially as the place is described as very quite. Another issue is that the bedroom has no windows so it can be very dark. The dining/living room on the other hand has big windows all over one side which would be nice, if it weren't situated near the only entrance way to the whole establishment. Other guests or the owners can go around and kind of "look into your plate" while you're having a breakfast for example. Finally the kitchen is ok, however don't expect much cookware. If you're up to cooking your own meals your lack most of what you need. here. Additionally some of the cutlery was not washed properly.
Review 4:The view into the valley, a lot of room in our studio, it was quite warm (even during cold nights).
Review 5:Not good smell I want to say stink, very, high humidity, worms on the walls. Absolutely I don't recommend this place for any price. 'm verry dissapointed. Very hard resignation of booking connected to a large waste of money.
Review 6:Location, only this.
Review 7:A bit expensive for the lacks: Only 30l boiler for 2 person and kitchen Ants in kitchen A mildew smell came from kitchen unit Bad ventilation of bedorom and bathroom (there are not any window or vent beside door) There isn't any heating or functional fan for clothes desiccation (Gomera has rainy weather) in spite of it was written at property description
Review 8:Beautiful and romantic place Beautiful back-garden View Equipped kitchen Beautiful old country house after reconstruction
Review 9:Due to secluded position, there's need of more signals on the way. Being carved out from the original cottage canteen/wine cellar, humidity and mold odor may be quiet sensible, depending on your tolerance level, especially inside kitchen cabinet.
Review 10:Spacious apartment in rustic traditional cottage. Quietly set in the countryside with wonderful view. Pleasantly decorated. Lovely garden with hammock and dining table.
Review 11:The location is far from any big cities and you have to drive to get to the closest store, but the peace and quiet was exactly what we needed for a few days.
Review 12:The cupboard with the dishes smelt a bit strange, but washing the stuff once was okay. Many dogs are barking all the time which sometimes destroys that nice natural sound of sheep, frogs, cocks and so on.
Review 13:The appartment is very nicely located with a beautiful view over the valley that you can enjoy swinging in a hammock! Huge bed, heavy wooden beams and reeds form the ceiling and make up a warm and cozy feeling together with many little details in the furniture and decoration. Hiking and biking guides directly on the sideboard, that's all we needed in this place. Espresso maker and grill area are great. Cute cats live in the backyard.
Review 14:Romantic dwelling, beautiful view into the valley. Very quiet, recommended if you want to relax and hike. A place where you forget the meaning of stress.
Review 15:The house is located in a quiet and very beautiful place, close to the natural park, and it has fantastic views to the sea and mountains. The house has a private terrace and it is very well decorated, cozy and clean. The owners are very helpful and friendly, and take care of every single detail. The stay was very comfortable, and it has been a great experience.
Review 16:Everything was magic, the place, the nature and the valley. We loved stay there and we surely came back in the future!
