Reviews for Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz
Review 1:Tea and coffee making facilities would have been welcome. The location of the hotel was further on foot to the restaurants, shops, and main attractions than we would have liked.
Review 2:We had an excellent meal in the Gastrobar. Also the bathroom was superb.
Review 3:The hotel is a little far from the main attractions and the center. On the 2 first breakfasts we were not offered the hot dishes that eppear in the menu.
Review 4:I liked the place- lovely and spacious. The rooms are big and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a good variety of food. The halls and panoramic places were fantastic.
Review 5:The bed was terrible. Our friends didn't have a sheet in one of the beds, and we had to pay 5 euro more then our friends for a room exactly like ours.
Review 6:Breakfast was good, though the coffemachine broke.
Review 7:The room decor shows its age. The wifi has too many different signals, it would be better to have a hotel-wide common SSID. They should be more environment friendly, lights were on with lots of sunshine entering through the glass roof.
Review 8:The staff. The bathroom is huge and well equipped. Excellent shower. The inside garden with the glass roof and the impressive palms is absolutely gorgeous. The wifi works quite well and the desk is ample. Beds are comfortable. Very good breakfast served in a bright room. The restaurant staff was kind and quick to server nicely cooked and set dishes.
Review 9:Location is not the 'best', although it's in a walking distance to the very central part of Santa Cruz.
Review 10:I loved the style and design of the hotel as well as exceptionally professional and friendly staff. The room was very clean.
Review 11:Lacked atmosphere, was rather drab and uninviting. Food on half-board, whilst of good quality had limited variety, to stay any longer than a few days really.
Review 12:Location fine for city visit. Area not the best but fairly easy walk to everywhere in the city.
Review 13:Would have liked to have had more time and been able to extend our stay in Santa Cruz at the Hotel Escuela.
Review 14:Excellent staff. Extremely friendly and helpful reception staff. Rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, reasonable price. Worth paying a little more for the junior suite. Highly recommended.
Review 15:The dinner at the restaurant inside wasn't good and we needed to decide between few food, and someone of us decided non to eat cause allergic food. The wine wasn't good. The breakfast could be start early than 7 a.m. (Maybe at 6 a.m.)... We didn't do because we need to leave the hotel at 7 a.m.
Review 16:The rooms are really comfortable. Everything in the room was very good. At the reception the people are very nice.
Review 17:Nothing to complain/comment on. All good here.
Review 18:This Hotel was perfect for our overnight stay in the Capital. We asked for a ground floor room and got it, free parking and a great breakfast in the morning. The room was light and airy, great big bathroom, with plenty of hot water. It is centrally located for sightseeing and within easy walking distance of all the shops and attractions. It had a small pool which kept the sun until about 5pm so ideal for chilling out after a busy day in the city. It was value for money as the parking, safety deposit box and breakfast were all included in the room rate. Excellent value when you consider it could have cost us up to €30 to park the car for two days.
Review 19:Driving to the hotel I don't like driving in Santa Cruz.
Review 20:The breakfast was very good ! The waiters work 19th April on Sunday morning was very polite and helpful and I really like the machine for make fresh orange juice. ;)
Review 21:The swimming is too small but looks much bigger on phots! Some room service food was served cold and juice flushing about from omelette. It was a bit too quiet.
Review 22:Cleanliness and space.
Review 23:Very nice hotel, with a 15 min walk you can reach any place in the city centre! The staff is very kind and always available, breakfast is quite good, rooms are big and fully equipped!
Review 24:Nice hotel but a bit dated. Bed was hard and staff were unable to fix this although was late evening before I discovered this unfortunately. When checking out the person at reception was missing and we had to leave and come back again. Most staff were nice but one was indifferent. We were the only ones in the Restaurant for Dinner and it was 20 minutes before anyone came to serve us. Actually we had to go looking for someone in the kitchen - no waiter!
Review 25:We had a junior suite and it had lots of space.
Review 26:We had half board and the menu was far too limited and didn't change for 11 days we were there. The dishes were oversized and unbalanced
Review 27:breakfast was excellent
Review 28:The hotel is not well located.
Review 29:Really excellent staff. Professional and friendly. Wonderful breakfast, especially the fresh orange juice machine. Fast wifi connection
Review 30:The swimminpool is not sunny was closed during our stay Just lake a indoor swimming pool and a spa for this hotel to be perfect !
Review 31:The big bathroom (bath + shower) Very good breakfast Wifi in the room Not far to town center
Review 32:Not very cosy and a bit sterile environment. Reception desk girl (on practice?) was a bit apathic and slow. Didn't like the fact that we had to pay the room in advance without even seeing it. Our suite was a corner one on the 2nd floor and was cold enough to need a second blanket. No heating is available, which in January could be a problem in Santa Cruz. Parking places pylons are too dense that makes it dificult for a large car.
Review 33:Free parking place , spacious room, modern bathroom, very good variety of food and service at breakfast.Free wifi although not very good at some places. Although fully booked the hotel doesn't look crowded.
Review 34:the cafeteria, nothing on display and only a bartender in attendance. Pity the highly rated restaurant did not open until 2030
Review 35:comfort, parking,location
Review 36:The wifi is terrble, 80% of the time it did not work, just don't rely on it The rooms are very, very dark. It's not romantic, it's annoying, and creepy The breakfast staff seemed to alwaysbe surprised by the guests... 8:30 AM and there was no coffee, or they would forget the cups, or no hot water for tea... Not all the reception staff speaks English...
Review 37:The breakfast was rich and mostly good quality products The bathroom was clean, nice and big, Yves Rocher amenities
Review 38:Limited knowledge of English or any other foreign language of the staff of the hotel restaurant
Review 39:Staff was very helpful. The hotel was absolutely clean a tidy.
Review 40:The entrance is large and bright and welcoming. Nice sitting area and outside terrace. Ground floor Café looked nice but we arrived and booked for Dinner. Food was excellent. Breakfast was served in the bright restaurant and was amazing - super buffet and lots of fresh fruit. We will be returning and take some friends with us. Free parking great asset and 10 minutes walk to centre. (For younger people) We are in our 70's so had a cab for 5 euros right where we wanted to be in the centre,
Review 41:The beds were very hard and the decor in the room was very sparse and in need of a refreshment.
Review 42:Good location next to the footboll stadium with an easy walk down to the centre of Santa Cruz. Friendly staff. Good to be able to park the car just outside the entrance.
Review 43:The evening restaurant meal was overpriced and left by both of us. ANGRY! The location meant taxis all-the-time.
Review 44:The room was of a very good size. The reception staff were pleasant - even well meaning. The breakfast was good in a nicely Spanish sort of way. .
Review 45:Beds are much too hard. Wifi drops sometimes but there were minor interruptions.
Review 46:Parking is good as you can profit by the city of Santa Cruz and be very mobile around the island. Hotel is 10 mins walk from the heart of the city. Staff sometimes inexperienced but always friendly.
Review 47:Location, a bit far from the center, have to walk up the mountain for 15 min
Review 48:Good friendly staff, big room and bathroom, huge breakfast with plenty of fruit
Review 49:Location a little far off the centre, and returning back is uphill. But nothing too bad. Will not deter me from returning if I am in the area.
Review 50:Welcome drink, Friendly Staff, Bathroom :), comfy beds
Review 51:However, the furtniture is old fashion and also the hotel rooms are old fashion.
Review 52:The hotel was always clean and impeccable, there is a lot of people working and looking for kindly help you; food is very good; you can walk to the centre of Santa Cruz and it is very easy to go from there to the beaches by car (20 mins)
Review 53:Beds were from the 50 s
Review 54:Very little
Review 55:the wifi is poor
Review 56:the location is good to the downtown and the teide.and the breakfast is fruitful
Review 57:nice room and bathroom friendly staff
Review 58:Old tile's fugues in bathroom.
Review 59:Beautiful view.
Review 60:nothing
Review 61:location was good, room size was excellent, clean and provided toiletries. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were all helpful
Review 62:Two rolling beds may be dangerous sometimes... it was a surprise. Please fasten them together
Review 63:room, free parking, Yves Rocher toiletries
Review 64:far away from the city center
Review 65:very nice appartment, good breakfast and big dinner
Review 66:See above, also there was no English translation of anything
Review 67:There agreement to us checking out after only 1 night of a proposed 7 night stay
Review 68:A bit cold room on a windy day.
Review 69:Atmosphere nice. Attentive and service minded personnel. Good parking facilities.
Review 70:Comfortable and bright room with a big bathroom. Very good breakfast and dinner.
Review 71:No heating. Too Cold in the room. Noicey children at the lobby, not hotelguest.
Review 72:Very nice hotel. Helpful starf.
Review 73:decor room size, comfort and facilities
Review 74:Wifi was very slow.
Review 75:Breakfast was great
Review 76:The size of pool and location
Review 77:Room very pleasant and quiet. Breakfast lovely with fresh fruit.
Review 78:Poor WiFi in most areas (Good in the Lobby)
Review 79:Amazing breakfast Kind staff
Review 80:Not so sure about the wood panelling in rooms, but not to offensive
Review 81:Service, price, food, free parking, everything more or less great
Review 82:The AC in my room on this stay was a bit weak, but on other stays (and other rooms) in this hotel it has been just fine.
Review 83:Located on steep hill so long tiring walk back from town.
Review 84:Excellent breakfast- hot dishes prepared just for you to a very high standard. Free parking.
Review 85:The bar staff made us the White Russians and Irish Coffees that we requested. There was a lot of useful stuff in the bathroom (like a razor and shoe polish!). The pool looked nice too.
Review 86:Wery cold water in the pool. Everywhere in the room was big black hair cocoons. We waited the room whole day but they still couldnt clean the room.
Review 87:Wery nice little pool in the center of the hotel. So even if its windy you can still sunbath. Good location. You can walk everywhere in the city.
Review 88:The atmosphere, which is a bit youth hostel like, but with all tye comfort, is quite appealing. Good restaurant with special menu to choose prepared by students. A free garage is the biggest plus in Santa Cruz, if you have a car.
Review 89:1) WiFi signal was variable - our room didn't pick it up but resolved at reception with router provision. 2) TV channels were all Spanish which is fine but not even BBC or CNN news. 3) Any more would be churlish.
Review 90:Location was good - 10 minute walk to shops restaurants etc. Free secure parking a bonus. Free safe in room - why do some hotels charge for a safe box in the room!! Breakfast was just fine. All staff were helpful including young trainee staff. Rooms, beds and storage were good.
Review 91:Very little if you realise that the catering staff are all students practising their culinary skills.
Review 92:Really liked the quality of the bedrooms, spacious communal areas and free underground parking. Convenient and quiet location, ideal for visiting the attractions of Santa Cruz. Food was pretty good too!
Review 93:The walk back from the town centre ...... very steep and long hill. Very slow check-in. Not a great range of drinks in the bar.
Review 94:Very large room (junior suite) with a really large bed. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant. Helpful staff (but a little inexperienced). Good car parking facilities. Great breakfast.
Review 95:We had a very enjoyable stay, the staff were most helpful. Breakfast, had lots of choice. Having available parking was definately a good point. We shall stay again.
Review 96:It is a training hotel and staff are extremely inexperienced. On the Sunday thee was only 1 person dealing with all the breakfast customers. Totally unacceptable and chaos
Review 97:Set lunch
Review 98:The only downside is that the wifi is slow. However, a lot of hotels on Tenerife don't offer (free) wifi at all.
Review 99:The room (junior suite) was enormous, affordable and had a good and big bed, a big bathroom, and all the amenities you could want. The hotel has a great view, ten minute walk to the city center, and helpful and kind staff. The breakfast has a huge selection including freshly prepared hot items and great pastries, as well as all kinds of fresh fruits, yoghurts, breads, toppings etc. Truly great. Dinner (room-service) was also very, very nice, and they only charged us the cafe prices! There also was free parking at the hotel.
Review 100:The whole place was tatty, the table cloths where grossly oversized creating serious trip hazards which I witnessed 3 times. If this is a school hotel as indicated by the amount of young people who appeared to be in training, then this school is clearly demonstrating how NOT to run a quality hotel
Review 101:The Wifi is free, okay, but the signal is very low and slow. Fortunately they've a computer available in the lobby. The receptionists are really nice and smiley, but they don't have many answers. Most of the time when I asked something the answer was "No sé" (I don't know) and I don't think I ask silly questions, just the usual interrogations of tourists.
Review 102:Location is pretty nice. Breakfast is amazing!!! Rooms are comfortable and quiet. The free Parking is very useful. The ratio price/quality is really really good!!!
Review 103:Excellent value for money. No hidden fees for WiFi, car parking orsafe. Short walk to centre or €2.75 taxi. Extremely helpful receptionstaff on arrival. Very impressive breakfast (well done students). Willdefinitely return.
Review 104:No double beds, just two singles put aside each other. Are all travelling couples having problems with each other so that hotels do not provide double beds???
Review 105:Good hotel, in quiet area close to the city centre (might get loud when a footbal match is played at the stadium right across the street). Nice decor and varied breakfast (also dinner menu more than OK). Very friendly staff at the restaurant, less friendly at the reception (but still OK).
Review 106:There was somekind of a whizz-noise in my room. Not loud, but a bitannoying. The ventilation I suppose.
Review 107:Perfect hotel for journeys by car round the island! It's situated inthe city center and close to main Tenerife autopista. Garage (includedin room rate) is very convenient. Staff is helpful. Room is comfortable.Breakfast is outstanding! (Good food, freshly squeezed orange juice anddelicious pies). Hotel's design is great. I really enjoyed my stayhere. Great experience!
Review 108:Nothing. I am planning to go back in February 2014.
Review 109:I liked especially the excellent breakfast, the quiet location yet centrally located and that free parking was provided. All the staff were also very polite and helpful.
Review 110:Took 45 minutes to check in and we were the only two there No ironing board or iron available Overall very poor hotel would not recommend Disappointed Also my friend was overcharged for the room we only found out two days later when we compared bills
Review 111:Location was good for centre Room was large and the shower was excellent
Review 112:It would be better if they had information signs about their underground parking to be placed somewhere near the main entrance.
Review 113:Fresh orange juice for breakfast! Don't hesitate to ask for a hot meal from the breakfast menu - it's included in room rate. Interior is very interesting. Huge windows in the room. They said they had underground private parking for guests. (We parked on a their private little parking just near the main entrance though.)
Review 114:When I arrived, the receptionist wasn't very helpful and a bit brusque. I was put in a disabled persons room because according to the receptionist there were no other free rooms but he told me this when I went back to reception to ask why I had been placed in this kind of room. He told me they normally avoided this. It would have been nice to know beforehand instead of discovering it on my own. The stay therefore was slightly unpleasant as the room resembled a hospital room and wasn't comfortable for me, as it was very big and sparsely furnished to enable a wheelchair, which is fine but is not my case. This meant that between the tv and the bed there were about 7/8 meters distance.... You needed binoculars to watch the tv and the shower was inside a bath tub, again to facilitate access for people with difficulties and had metal bars all over the place. In conclusion, a great place to stay if you have some kind of disability. As they have special facilities but off putting if you haven't and are placed in this kind of room without being told beforehand. I was disappointed as I had stayed here before a few years ago and I had a good opinion of it. Now I'm. Obscure I will return.
Review 115:Clean
Review 116:Nothing. It was outstandingly good.
Review 117:Excellent staff with students in training, very good supervision. Rooms large and well appointed with safe and fridge. Quiet. Exceptionally good breakfast.covered private parking. Excellent value for money.
Review 118:Staff involved with other activities (school, conferences,...)
Review 119:Excellent starting point for excursions on the island. Easy access to city and highways. Comfortable facilities.
Review 120:My husband and I booked half board. Unfortunately, we did not receiveit. We were booked in over the Easter break when most staff were onholiday. This meant that the restaurant did not really function. Thefirst night we had a set meal. The second night we explained to thewaiter that we were vegetarian. We were served soup, made with pork. Ionly realised this half way through when I asked the waiter about thetaste. Suffice it to say, I was not feeling too great the next day as Ihave not eaten meat for some 30 years. The third night the restaurant was closed. We did wait a little while, but it did not open, so no half board for the rest of our stay. Our room was a little mosquito ridden. We asked for a plug-in, which was supplied immediately, but it didn't seem to work. Unfortunately, we didn't find out until the day we checked out that the maid had opened one of the windows and drawn the curtains to keep the heat out, so they were coming in quicker than the plug-in could kill them.
Review 121:The Hotel Escuela is housed in a lovely building. The staff were veryhelpful; the rooms very clean. We could not fault either. However, youshould have a good knowledge of Spanish if you stay here. It should alsobe noted that the Escuela is a teaching college as well as a hotel, something which we did not fully appreciate when we booked.
Review 122:Initially allocated a room that had clearly been occupied by a heavy smoker. Allocation changed efficiently with good grace.
Review 123:We needed to take a very early flight from Tenerife North airport after a hiliday at Los Gigantes and chose Hoel Esquela Santa Cruz as a more convenient location for our final night. We found the facilities excellent and value for money. Evening meal chiosen from an admittedly limited choice was enjoyable. Reception booked airport taxi efficiently.
Review 124:It was spacious, the service was attentive, there was excellent choiceat breakfast and it was situated in an easily accessed area of SantaCruz. Highly commended.
Review 125:Location in a sleepy part of city, with few facilities here, about 15min walk from real city center.January sun did never come down to pool terrace.
Review 126:Interesting design, a taste of 50's with unusual broad corridors.Modern comfort. Silent location.
Review 127:When the Students had gone on x-mas leave the service has consideribly changed to the negative. Food services were poor.
Review 128:The quietness. The Hotelstudents service friendly and helpful.
Review 129:The breakfast was very luxurous but a bit strange. You could not eat the "usual" breakfast stuff as yoghurt and flakes or dark bread. But instead you get fresh orange juice, omelettes and very good and tasty cheeses. Luxury and a bit different. The pool wasnt big and no one used it when we were there in november. A very small and boring gym, all the machines didnt work. But it was a very nice hotell with friendly and helpful staff who were good in english. Very nice rooms also. Luxury bath room.
Review 130:Found the hotel extremely quiet and felt like the only people there. The rooms were really dark and think a renovation is needed. Location was ok, but found it far from places to see. I know it was more of a business hotel and probably would not recommend this hotel to other travellers wanting to see tourist areas.
Review 131:This time the AC in my room didn't work very well. However, I have stayed in this hotel many times before, and it usually works quite well.
Review 132:The location is quite good for my needs.
Review 133:It is well designed hotel.there are only few hotels in the city, it is probably one of the best ones. Excellent breakfast, convinient car access to any direction. It is not a touristic city but yet we proffered it on Puerto Cruz which is too touristic.
Review 134:Great location for carnival Outside the main area so it was quiet enoughto sleep. Breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly. Enjoyed mystay. Would stay there again.
