Reviews for Hotel Margarit

Review 1:No complaints at all. The room did not have a desk and the staff was so nice to they brought it in for me right away :-)

Review 2:Breakfast was really good. Not a million things, but all tasty and nice. it is clear that people working there care, and that is great to see.

Review 3:very very small room! expensive for the size of room. i booked a double for single use and there was little space to move around. massive cabinet for clothes just on bedside. micro table. the bathroom was so much more spacious than the room itself. kind of claustrophobic as the only window opens up to dark inner courtyard for smokers. not a nice view.

Review 4:this hotel is good and very central but also quiet. very close to market. walking distance from lovely old town eateries and train station. room was clean with a good bed and fast wifi. flat screen tv. i had to check out early for a change of plan and staff was very friendly. i liked that. public parking is a problem in girona. there is a big parking lot far away (12-15 mins. walking) at the end of the old town, in a big roundabout on the other side of the river when close to the cathedral. there is an exc and cheap italian 'focacceria' (pizza squares ready to it) very close to the hotel, just 1 min. down the road on the same side.

Review 5:One of the receptionists could be moody and unfriendly at times. An issue with insect in the bathroom, however the staff were apologetic and quick to resolve this once I brought it to their attention. During my first stay during the week of a fiesta cleaning standards were a bit inconsistent for example the rubbish bin was not emptied one day beer can from a previous guest was left over in the cupboard

Review 6:In the main staff were very friendly hard working and helpful the location of the hostel the size and layout of the room as good as a hotel room. during my stay it was quite which was nice good view of the city from the room. very good wifi

Review 7:The room was tiny (the bathroom was big) with a very uncomfortable bed and no natural light/window. Not very noise resistant either.

Review 8:Great location, convenient to the bus and train as well as the old city and center. Staff was super helpful and even printed out bus timetables for me.

Review 9:Good location a ten minute walk from all attractions. Nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Good parking facilities in their underground garage, but could be a bit tight if you have a very big car.

Review 10:Soap dispenser in bathroom broken and hot water in sink did not seem to work (fortunately, there was hot water in shower!)

Review 11:Hotel is well situated between the train/bus station and the old town.

Review 12:Sometimes the reception was empty, mainly in the night and the street door opened. However, the city is so calm and relaxing that, in fact, no sounds a problem at all.

Review 13:The location is perfect and you can get there is a new minutes walking from Train Station

Review 14:Location is good (5 mins from Ramblas) but there's lots of street noise.

Review 15:Good staff, good bathroom, big room with good lighting, excellent breakfast

Review 16:would have liked tea / coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 17:Good location, very friendly and helpful staff. Good value, breakfast plenty of options and Nespresso coffee! Glad to have the option to park the car in a secure park close by.

Review 18:There are no air condition (just ventilator), however it wasn't a problem for us since we were in September

Review 19:Hotel fully corresponds to its declared 2 stars nothing to complain

Review 20:Room was at the front of the Hotel right by the traffic lights very noisy on Saturday night with cars stopping and starting.

Review 21:The location and free I pads at breakfast.

Review 22:I was met by a delightful young lady who was eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible, the chambermaid was still cleaning my room and she helped me move in and find everything I needed like the door on to the balcony.

Review 23:Very noisy from the street.

Review 24:We arrived earlier than check in, the room was not ready, but the hotel staff did their best to make up the room for us. Room is very nice. Excellent location near old town.

Review 25:The noise from guests staying in the room upstairs. The room had no windows, but a small balcony opening on to a small central courtyard.

Review 26:Its location in the city of Girona, and general cleanliness of the hotel.

Review 27:Basic room gets very hot in summer. Worth the upgrade!

Review 28:Staff helped us with our bikes, very helpful. Paid extra fm for a room with air con on the second stay and was worth every penny. Very comfortable rooms.

Review 29:the only thing is that FAN is not enough for summer. It would be nice to add air-conditioner.

Review 30:Good location, nice helpful and polite staff, standard DBL with twin beds was big enough and the bathroom is comfortable, very good breakfast and best coffee among 5 hotels we have visited in Spain. Very good price. Pity we spent in Girona only 1 day.

Review 31:Super breakfast. Really close to old city center and to bus station with airport buses. Really good place to stay before / after Ryan travel to Girona.

Review 32:Great location and very modern decor. The receptionist that greeted us was very friendly and helpful, she gave me a map of the area so we didn't get lost and pointed out the main attractions and where the hotel was so we could get back! Great value for money, had a lovely stay :)

Review 33:Quite nice hotel situated close to the old town, near to the river. helpful staff. good breakfast. Some rooms don`t have air -condition- be careful during reservation.

Review 34:no free parking close by but hotel offered 12 euro per night and that was cheaper than in public car park.

Review 35:very good value for money. big room, nice and clean. good breakfast. great coffe. (nespresso) good location.

Review 36:If you don't like noise in the evening then it may not be the best spot.

Review 37:There is no air conditioning; I hate air conditioning therefore being able to open windows fully during 28 C was perfect. Staff are fantastic.

Review 38:No aircondition in the room and the fan delivered did not help at all.The room temperature were +36 degC. Not good enough!!!

Review 39:Breakfast was excellent and plenty of options. Eggs were fresh and theychecked several times during breakfast.

Review 40:The temperature was 40 degrees with no air conditioning in the room! When mentioned to staff they said the standard rooms did not have air conditioning. This was not made clear on the website. The hotel was full, so we couldn't change rooms. There was a fan and we were supplied with another though both were inefficient. Such a pity, we would stay again, but not in a standard room. Moral is: Don't assume there's ac when booking a hotel, check beforehand.

Review 41:We were staying overnight to catch the airport bus early the next morning, so good location, clean with helpful staff and value for money.

Review 42:The Hotel Margarit has a good location, within walking distance of the rail station and the heart of Girona. It is a clean, comfortable, modern hotel, with friendly and helpful staff.

Review 43:No A/C. We were very hot, though a fan was provided. Our room was not as cute as the rooms in the photos. It was presentable, but the furniture had some pretty bad chips and the couch cover had seen better days. The bathroom could use some touch ups too. Though overall, these things don't affect the quality of sleep. The breakfast certainly made up for any shortcomings (except no A/C)

Review 44:The beds were comfortable. Nice, clean, natural fiber bedding. Love the roll-down shutters (nice and dark). Excellent breakfast. Play area for tots in breakfast room, with iPads at each table. Cute zen garden. Spacious room and bathroom. Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 45:There is no air-conditioning, just fan, so I would not recommend this hotel for the hot summer months.

Review 46:Very good value for money, nice breakfast and clean.

Review 47:I didn't like being close to the elevator and the room with twin size beds for just me. I did make it clear that I was solo traveler.

Review 48:I like the location, the staff, and easy check-in.

Review 49:I liked everything, only the staff could be a little bit more welcoming, but it was alright.

Review 50:The room was surprisingly big and new. You can clearly see that they have been renovated recently.

Review 51:However, the room had no air conditioning and the shower drain was clogged. The room almost flooded, we received little help and were not relocated. We were not given information regarding breakfast, they were unwelcoming when we tried to get some coffee. Needs to improve service.

Review 52:The building looks nice.

Review 53:The bathroom in the summer is very very hot.

Review 54:Location was very good, very close to shops and historic center. The room was a big one with lot of light from outside, giving you a very pleasant feeling

Review 55:When showering we noticed if you do this on full power water flooding to the bedroom.

Review 56:It's a basic accommodation near all the highlight of the city of Girona. The rooms are even quite large, with own bathroom. The breakfast was better than expected, with different kinds of bread, cheeses and fresh fruit. I would recommend it for a short and cheap stay.

Review 57:Breakfast a bit expensive, so didn't have it.

Review 58:Excellent location, 5 minutes walk from station and 5 minutes walk from historic town. Staff efficient and friendly. Quiet rooms available. Clean and comfortable, great value for money.

Review 59:Hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful The balcony in the building with a view in a small yard was interesting. It was good value and I would recommend a stay.

Review 60:Our friend's room (single room) was too small and without window. The hotel overall is clean but the walls really need painting!

Review 61:Our room was spacious with big window, comfortable bed and huge bathroom. 5 minutes on foot from the train and bus station. 10 minutes from the old town which was magnificent

Review 62:+Warm water was bit unstable (went cold time to time taking the shower, but nothing too bad).

Review 63:+No noise from outside +Very clean and new rooms +Good location - next to old town and near bus/train station +Good WiFi +Nice stuff with good English +Elevators for travelers with big bags +Very good breakfast - very tasty and everything was very fresh. Free Ipads on the breakfast tables to use. In general very good value for money

Review 64:The hotel has made a very good effort to refurnish the building. But some of the furniture are still old and ruin the overall very good image. And a thing that I was missing was a nice lounge.

Review 65:I liked the friendly staff who was speaking really good English. The comfortable bed with the clean sheets and toweling. Breakfast had a good variety for a small hotel!

Review 66:Bad on first stay was soft. When we returned the next Sunday we had been upgraded, bed better but room was so hot, couldn't turn heat off and young chap on reception was eating the whole time when dealing with us.

Review 67:Location, cleanliness. Staff helpful.

Review 68:The wall in the room that is closer to the door had so many dirty scratches and the towels had stains too - that was really frustrating. The WC/shower room was extremely tiny and rather uncomfortable.

Review 69:Hotel personnel is great. Breakfast was very nice. The hotel is just 5 min. walk to the old town.

Review 70:It's outside the city centre...20 minutes from centre with metro. Sometimes wifi connection was very slow.

Review 71:Good value for money. The rooms were nice and clean. the breakfast was really good and veried young children eat for free.

Review 72:There were some people on my floor shouting and having fun on the hallway, but that was just my luck, I suppose. Anyway, they stopped after I asked them to be quiet on common areas.

Review 73:The hotel is very close to attractions, there are nice cafes, shops and supermarkets just a few minutes' walk from it. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly rich with good quality food.

Review 74:I didn't find hair dryer in my room, but I've got it from reception. For two days of staying towels weren't changed.

Review 75:Nice location (between railway station and city center), good free Wi-Fi, cleanness...

Review 76:Clean close to city centre New furniture / TV set Breakfast comes with fresh local products, eggs get prepared to your liking and all tables have an Ipad. Nespresso coffee Very friendly staff and owners Absolutely recommend this place!

Review 77:After staying for few days you start to miss some comfort and start to notice how thin the walls are or missing shelf or a small table in (that big) bathroom to put your staff. Also, not the best idea is to have one person to run the breakfast area and the reception. Dirty dishes remain for a while, meals not supplemented on time and and at the same time the person is not much of use in the reception as she doesn't know or just is not authorised to do smth (the lady herself was very kind and we even managed to communicate with her speaking spanish and me english. Other people we met in the reception spoke great English and were very kind and helpful as well)

Review 78:everything was fine with the hotel but remember - it is very basic so if you consider staying longer in Girona make up your mind if you are ok with that or you want to seek for more comfort. Anyway, convenient location in town for walking or driving. They also have parking for extra costs but anyway it's cheaper than public parking.

Review 79:Very urban - but very good value.

Review 80:We arrived late at night - we found the hotel easily and the staff were very helpful in getting our car parked in an underground park. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Good shower. Very good view of the Lion statue in the centre of town.

Review 81:-bathroom with no window -walls are terribly thin BUT they are renovating right now and are working on the isolation of the walls (thats what they told me).

Review 82:+staff is very friendly and helpful +breakfast is just GREAT +rooms are clean +close to the old part of town +close to the railway station +free wifi

Review 83:nothing

Review 84:i had to take a last minute trip and this place was recommended to me by locals which are based close by. After initially making a mistake with booking the wrong dates, I called the hotel and the change was made without any problems. The staff was extremely helpful and went out of its way to help me out. I arrived in the middle of the night and found them extremely helpful and accommodating. The room was very pleasant, as was the entire hotel. I definitely will use it again, and if anybody from the hotel reads this, then please accept my gratitude for a very pleasant experience at your place.

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:Perfect base for cycling in Catalunya. Staff were really helpful with no problems storing the bicycle in my room. Really good breakfast, clean comfortable room.

Review 87:Location easy walk to all areas of inner Girona with restaurants/cafes, sights, etc close by. Comfortable accommodation, good breakfast and friendly staff. Great value and will return.

Review 88:Being scared in my room all night as I had no explanation for why the hotel was full of police and firemen at 1:30 am.

Review 89:Location good. Good cleanliness.

Review 90:Not the hotel's fault, but people in room next to us on second night were loud until 3am...

Review 91:Only 5-10 minutes walk from bus/train station and about the same the old town. Good size room and bathroom. Wifi worked very well in room. Breakfast very varied and plentiful - meats, cheese, fresh melon and other fruits, over 12 types of teas and coffees, juices, hot chocolate etc, cereals, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausages etc... Difficult not to over-Indulge!

Review 92:- none

Review 93:- Location: close to everything, 10mins to Bus/Railway station and also to the beautiful city centre on foot. There is a big Dia% supermarket in the street. - our room had a magnificent view, it looked at the hills and the old city. It was spacious, clean and cosy. - the staff was nice and helpful - Breakfast was delicious and there was a wide variety of options

Review 94:The bed was not so comfortable. Fan provided on request made it useable but mid summer it would be unbearable without aircon considering room design. Light from outside courtyard into room.

Review 95:Location was good being close to railway station but relatively close to old town too. Staff nice and helpful. Breakfast is really very good.

Review 96:Everything was absolutely perfect!!! No flaws at all!! Great staff, they even offered us a sweet, very polite and kind, the room and bathroom very clean and nice, the location great - just in the center of the town!!!! We are more than satisfied and we will definitely choose it again!

Review 97:It was very quiet. The bathrooms were very big. The morning breakfast was lovely. The location is great. A person can easily wander through the cities old town and shops.

Review 98:No air conditioner, which is a minus. Athrough the room has a fan, but it was still pretty stuffy.

Review 99:Greal location, not far from the main railway station and the city historic center. Rich breakfast. Helpful staff. Clean room, not big though. Clean bathroom. The pension has an elevator.

Review 100:The room could do with painting, it hardly detracts from the stay or ones sleep but it gives the room a grubby feel.

Review 101:Very good location, with friendly and helpful staff. Room was a decent size as was bathroom for a budget hotel. Soap dispenser in bThroom and in shower, not the tiny inadequate bottes. Overall as good value as you get in this price range.

Review 102:The fact that the hotel only opens for guests on 6 days a week. See comments above. Be very careful about your weekend stay there, you might not be able to get into the hostal, since there is nobody working then and they don´t answer your phone call to the given emergency number

Review 103:location food sufficient and okay

Review 104:Wish we had air conditioning but most of Europe doesn't either.Without that, adequate fans in good working order would have madesleeping easier.

Review 105:We loved the location, it was central to everything and the staff wentabove and beyond to assist us with directions and locations even thoughour Spanish was spotted. Stayed in 4 different cities in Spain. Gironawas my favorite.

Review 106:Room could have done with a coat of paint on the walls, a few scrapes from people's luggage I guess.

Review 107:I stayed here for 5 nights in July whilst in girona for a friends birthday party. Hotel is in a great central location on the busy market square, I had a room on the inside of the building overlooking the zen garden with no traffic noise at all to be heard. Breakfast buffet was lovely and fresh. Bathroom was big with a huge walk in shower. Air con was powerful. I would def recommend this hotel. A bargain.

Review 108:Leaving after only one night

Review 109:Alright, we payed some Euro, but this place is really good value formoney. Close to the old town, as well as the station. Lots of space inair conditioned room (you could decide temperature with a remotecontrol). Fantastic bathroom. There's a zen garden hidden somewherein the house. Try to find it!

Review 110:nthg

Review 111:reception opened 24h [Sun excl.], minimalistic room but with all basic functions. relatively quiet room, no noisy neighbors or smthg. clean and a good place to rest for a couple of days, 10 minutes walk from Girona's railway station.

Review 112:I was satified with everything.

Review 113:I loved the service. The people working in the reception area are very kind and very helpful at any time. I stayed here various times and met a few of the people working here. I must say that each one provided optimal service. They were friendly and willing to provide information at any time.

Review 114:No a/c and it was needed. The room was very hot and stuffy until after a big rain storm. A fan was provided which helped some.

Review 115:Located along the river about 5 minutes walk from old town.

Review 116:Couldn't get to sleep until 3am: we could hear neighbors next door talking as if they were sitting in our room.

Review 117:The hotel is close to all attractions and 7 min walk to the train/bus station, which is very convenient

Review 118:The only window in my room was a door that opened onto a shared balcony. Other people were out smoking on the balcony and talking loudly, so i could not open the door for fresh air at night. Luckily my room had an air conditioner and I had my own controls for it. But fresh air would have been nicer.

Review 119:The staff were amazing! They were very helpful and friendly, offered me maps and gave me directions. They kept my bags for me after I checked out so I could go out for a few hours before I had to catch my flight.

Review 120:Everything was just fine.

Review 121:It was a handy ten minute walk to the old town and had many good restaurants and cafes close by. The staff were friendly and most helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 122:Excellent all-you-can eat breakfast, Nice and helpful staff (the lady at the reception desk awaited our arrival late in the evening), Good location (relatively close to the old town), Parking nearby in a garage

Review 123:some dust in the rooms, and not very comfortable sofa bed, but if you are not requesting extra bed - you'll never use it.

Review 124:Budget accomodation for those not seeking luxury, but comfort close to the city center and train station. Rooms are big enough for the people who share them. Fan, wifi and breakfast make staying there comfortable and pleasant. Personnel is attentive and ready to help.

Review 125:V clean .Staff were ever do helpful and friendly especially Maria who went to great trouble to print out document for us... So good.

Review 126:Nothing really

Review 127:Excellent value for money and very comfortable and clean room.

Review 128:Clean comfortable accommodation at a very reasonable price. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Review 129:Great location , near old town ( 3 min walk ) , nice place to stay :)

Review 130:Very thin walls. Perhaps a room on the upper floors is better.

Review 131:Location and staff friendliness.

Review 132:Great location, comfortable beds and a clean spacious bathroom.

Review 133:Best breakfast ever.
