Reviews for Europ'hotel
Review 1:I was met with a warm welcome, and helpful staff. The hotel was very clean and for a budget price the room comfortable. The only thing it lacked was tea/coffee making facilities, and parking behind the hotel was an extra 3 euros, but there was a free public car park very close by.
Review 2:The Shower leaves a lot to be desired. No Shower Screen or Curtain, normally end up with a big pool of water on the floor.
Review 3:Location, Hotel nice and clean, good Breakfast. Freindly Staff.
Review 4:The bathroom was ridiculously small.
Review 5:Great location with many points of interest and lots of restaurants within walking distance, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 6:Nothing to dislike except leaving!
Review 7:Fantastic value for money, staff could not be more helpful. Located literally four minutes walk from Bergerac Cathedral. Hotel and room immaculate, decor/toilet/shower room a bit dated but everything worked and at the cost nothing to complain about. The dividing room walls are a little thin but the hotel was busy when we stayed and we weren't disturbed. The pool area is secluded and a lovely bonus (closed in winter from end October I think). Staff will serve drinks at the pool and as they don't provide meals, they don't object to residents bringing in their own snack. The breakfast and parking are optional at an additional small cost. Breakfast is continental type but adequate and fresh. There is a small but comfortable residents lounge where you can have a nightcap, tea or coffee. Wish there were tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 8:All good.
Review 9:Central location in Bergerac. Handy for rail station.5 min walk into town. Comfortable hotel and a lovely enclosed swimming pool. Great value for money. Very clean and tidy hotel and very helpful pleasant staff.
Review 10:Felt like whoever decorated the hotel had a fixation with the decor propular in the 1980s. Seriously odd! Also the walls between the bedrooms are way too thin and I would personally like to thank (not) the retired English couple who appeared to be holding a drinks party in the room next door to ours. Alcohol + thin walls = far too loud.
Review 11:Friendly and helpful staff. Large car park. Not too far from the picturesque old town
Review 12:Pillows quite lumpy and uncomfortable. Walls thin so you could hear showers, basins and w c flushing next door and from rooms above.
Review 13:Close to old town and railway station. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool area very nice and clean
Review 14:Breakfast was mediocre; fruit was over/ underripe and only cornflakes as cereal option( to be fair that is a very English complaint!) Plenty of bread, croissants, juice and coffee. Maid was overzealous and threw away soap and plastic bags I was using and left the door wide open whilst cleaning elsewhere in the hotel. She also removed even clean towels every day and left me without one day.
Review 15:Excellent location with easy walk to river and old town. No traffic noise, near to station and close to airport. Very tidy and nice well kept pool.
Review 16:Lack of Air-Conditioning may affect our choice of hotel in Bergerac next time.
Review 17:The location of the hotel was excellent. The parking facilities where also excellent. Staff were always happy to help. Very clean with good facilities
Review 18:I would have loved some tea and coffee facilities in the room but everything else was perfect and I'll be back.
Review 19:Proximity to the old town with it's markets, riverside views, shops, stunning architecture by day and night and warm and relaxed atmosphere. Good,Clean, friendly hotel.
Review 20:Property was in need of extensive updating. No shower curtain so water goes all over floor. Room overheated even with air conditioner that dried the air. Breakfast was very basic for the €8 euros paid.
Review 21:The hotel is really very 1980-s in style and decor. Clean and proper, but a refurbishment would be a good idea to bring it up to modern standarts. Also, it is not in the actual historic center but about 10 minutes away by foot.
Review 22:Nice outdoor swimming pool, realtively cheap private parking.
Review 23:My wife was put into hospital with a wasp sting reaction and when I couldn't contact the hospital late at night to check her condition, the evening receptionist took me there, acted as translator, and returned me to the hotel, all at the end of her shift. Customer care is exceptional.
Review 24:This was the only hotel of our 8 week holiday that charged for bicycle parking.
Review 25:The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the old part of town. Enjoyed the pool and garden area on a hot day.
Review 26:The room was quite dated but clean and comfortable. The swimming pool area was a real plus in the hot weather and nice and peaceful. Good to have secure parking too, only 4 euros per night. The town is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel so it's a very convenient location too.
Review 27:We were very grateful that our luggage could be stored after we had checked out but a more secure location than under the stairs in the main lobby would have been preferable.
Review 28:Easy walking distance from the train station and the town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful, organised a taxi to the airport for us, and happy for us to use the swimming pool while waiting for the taxi although we had checked out.
Review 29:A shame they charge extra for the car park. I parked for 4 days in the public car park right next door - problem solved!
Review 30:Staff wonderful and the lady on reception the evening I arrived could not have been more helpful. Lovely view of the church spire and Bergerac rooftops from my room. Lovely breakfast.
Review 31:The double bed was far too short; suitable only for a pair of hobbits, not humans! My husband had to sleep diagonally across the bed and he is only 5' 10"! As in many French hotels, there was a hard bolster and here also, two exceedingly poor pillows, resulting in cricked necks. In the bathroom, the towels were very thin and would have benefitted from being replaced . The bath was both narrow and short. The lack of shower screen meant that if you took a shower you had to be very careful not to flood the bathroom.
Review 32:The hotel is situated in a quiet location, on a side street, a short walk from both the historic centre and the railway station. The hotel was kept very clean and the air conditioning was excellent. The swimming pool was also beautifully clean and well maintained - and was available from early on each day. With its parasols and sun loungers it was a very pleasant spot in which to relax, so too the small, shaded, private garden area. The breakfast was adequate but the choice of food on offer was very limited. The staff were pleasant.
Review 33:my room was very hot, no fan or air-con!!
Review 34:The location is perfect for strolling around bergerac!! the hotel has a lovely outdoor pool ideal for cooling off or just sunbathing. restaurants and cafes all within 5 min walk.
Review 35:nothing !
Review 36:The hotel is probably the cleanest we've ever stayed in with an obvious attention to it's fixtures...and all those edges of rooms and doors, plumbing scuffs and messes...none here!!! A great pool and a short cut through to the edge of the River Dordogne..as others have said an unexpected gem as it is dated in some respects..but I like a bit of retro.
Review 37:Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff, short walk to town centre where there are lots of pleasant bars and restaurants. We'd recommend a boat trip on the river, very relaxing!
Review 38:There was nothing I didn't like in this hotel, comparing this to our hotel in Bordeaux (which was good too but not great) this was so much more relaxing and friendly place to stay!
Review 39:The hotel surprised us with its great location very close to train station and the city centre too! The gentleman in the reception was very helpful and friendly, even though he had to speak english to us as our French is very poor. We loved the room with very comfortable bed, big window overseeing the town, bathroom with a bath and overall cleanliness in the room and hotel. We loved the fact that we could use the swimmingpool located at the back of the hotel for no extra charge and it was the best thing we could imagine in such a hot day like the one we spent in Bergerac! We felt luxurious being able to drink a local wine next to the pool and have fun there. There was a great option to buy the wine in the reception and prices are very reasonable, you get everything you need to enjoy your stay :) In the morning we only asked for coffee and it was no problem to have it without full breakfast, costed very little and was excellent. Overall, we'll definitely go back to this hotel in the future!
Review 40:The area is somewhat run down.
Review 41:The owners have obviously made a big effort to create an attractive and comfortable hotel. It is very convenient for the station, and about 5/10 minutes' walk to the historical part of the town.
Review 42:Needed more pillows and towels (we were refused extra towels after using ours by pool)
Review 43:The pool was excellent, very clean and private Great location only 5 mins walk to town centre and train station
Review 44:Thin walls very noisy Situated in the back streets of the town Booked double room and got twin room Very small rooms Shower leaking into passage way carpet wet
Review 45:4€ for car park. No air con.
Review 46:Warm welcome, very good English spoken. Clean and comfortable rooms with pleasant views over the garden and pool. Quiet location (except for neighbors dog barking but that's not their fault), but within easy walking distance of old town centre. Very well maintained hotel both outdoors and indoors. Pleasant and helpful staff. Bravo. Will return.
Review 47:Payed for bath that was no larger than a shower. No shower door so floor was constantly wet due to splashing from shower. Was asked by the management to turn the TV off and lower our voices (all two of us) as the guest in room 22 next door (who commeced banging on our wall) was studying for an exam the following day. No tea/coffee making facilities.
Review 48:Location
Review 49:No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Breakfast average and expensive for what you get. Would have liked some fresh meats, more choice of cheese and cereal.
Review 50:Very clean with fresh towels daily. Good location. Excellent pool, unfortunately didn't get chance to use it as weather not good enough. Friendly staff.
Review 51:In a great location for visiting Bergerac this small hotel does not look anything from the outside but is full of charm. The staff are wonderfully friendly and will go the extra mile for your comfort. The room we had was compact but spotlessly clean, quite and comfortable . The breakfast was fine for the price we paid. Overall we enjoyed our stay at a bargain price !
Review 52:Internet connection was weak at times and I had to sign every day with a ridiculously long password!
Review 53:Seems recently refurbished to a high standard. Nice outdoor pool, but the weather wasn't good enough. No need to use hotel car park - easy parking on road!
Review 54:The information that the hotel was not open until 17.00 hours on the Sunday afternoon of my arrival was at the very bottom of the website beneath information about pets and parking. I arrived at 14.50 to find that there was no arrangement at all in place for guests to check in or leave luggage. The temperature was minus 4 and Bergerac was deserted on a Sunday afternoon. I would have appreciated an email or some other form of communication prior to my arrival alerting about this.
Review 55:Not applicable from our experience.
Review 56:A very pleasant experience,A warm welcome from lovely helpful and friendly staff.a comfortable bed in a lovely cosy quiet room with a nice view.Excellent room service with change of linen and towels daily.Very clean Hotel in a perfect location excellent value .looking forward to returning .there.
Review 57:Hotel was quiet when we were there, which was fortunate as there was very poor soundproofing between bedrooms.
Review 58:Friendly staff; good continental breakfast available daily.
Review 59:The area was not that flash . Sound proofing not good but that is common in hotels of this type. Pretty basic room . Didn't compare on a value/ price basis with other hotels we stayed at on our travels
Review 60:Not a long walk to the action . Able to park along the road in a free car perk . Being charged to park is a bit rich considering the position of the hotel.
Review 61:Not very easy to find since near the middle of town and some of the streets are closed on market days.
Review 62:Just a few minutes walk from pretty, interesting town centre and also the train station with easy links to Bordeaux. Surrounding area has a lot of interest if you hire a car and this hotel has a car park. The swimming pool is a nice extra if you come to Bergerac when it is warm.
Review 63:The thin pillow & bolster arrangement was a little uncomfortable but presumably this is the French style. The room walls are very thin. Be prepared to entertain or be entertained!!
Review 64:A very well run hotel with basic but adequate facilities.
Review 65:Only that the heating was left on over night so the room was warm. But it was very mild for the time of year!
Review 66:Very near to the old town of Bergerac a 5 minute walk. Good pool and garden . Lovely help yourself breakfasts. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly.
Review 67:Smoke entering the room via staff smoking outside. No tea making facilities in room. No selection of cereals for breakfast. No sliced bread/toast for breakfast.
Review 68:Relatively close to the centre and did have its own car park.
Review 69:No lift. Hotel was a bit hard to find. If they hadn't had a sign posted, we would have had even more problems.
Review 70:Location was great and we were only about an 8 minute walk from the medieval center of town. Wifi worked very well. Parking (although we had to pay extra) was great and very secure. Staff was very helpful--providing a map and information for the center of town. They also spoke enough English that we felt comfortable with what they were saying.
Review 71:Having to leave ( end of break )
Review 72:Everything, though location in particular. Excellent facilities and a short walk into centre with shops , bars, restaurants and river.
Review 73:To have to leave early in the morning, without trying the swiming pool...
Review 74:The hosts were nice and helpful. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location is good both for the railway station and for atractions. The breakfast was good, by french standards.
Review 75:Very old fashioned bathroom. Far too small to be comfortable or very useable.
Review 76:Pool and garden big positive Quiet location Good staff and breakfast Good carpark
Review 77:Cannot think of anything at all
Review 78:The simplicity of the place and the fact that nothing was too much trouble. They were so helpful in every way, the staff were smiling all the time and seemed to really enjoy their work. The fact that it was in a good situation, just the right distance from town and the station and the area was quiet. The use of the garden was an added bonus.
Review 79:The fact that we had booked a room to the back of the hotel and were given one to the front on arrival which was noisy. This was rectified the following day
Review 80:Pool and Garden
Review 81:The first room we stayed in had no air conditioning and was at the front of the Hotel, if you opened the window the road noise was very pronounced, and it was far too warm to close the window. However, they staff very kindly moved us after one night to the upper rear room, with air con! Really nice sleep ensued! The decor is a bit dated, but spotlessly clean.
Review 82:The parking was a bonus, as was the nice shady garden area, really nice to sit out there with a book and a bottle of wine from the Hotel. The staff are excellent, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was simple but excellent value. The hotel is spotlessly clean, we stayed for we stayed for 8 nights, and the room was cleaned everyday, new bedding, fresh towels etc - Excellent
Review 83:Narrow one-way streets around the hotel make it difficult to find simplest way into the hotel and out of it into a desired direction, be careful ! Blue neon can give you a bad 1st impression, but don't be discouraged !
Review 84:I loved the hotel. Very professional, friendly and helpful reception desk persons, even if you don't speak French at all. Clean and aesthetic room. Free WiFi with quite a good bitrate. Very close to the city center: 5 minutes walk. Free parking zone just behind the corner, as an alternative if you don't like 4€ fee in the hotel's garage. Open-air swimming pool was great to "wash the dust from the feet of the wanderer" after a long sightseeing day.
Review 85:No lift. The stairs a bit of a climb for pensioners!
Review 86:Clean & comfortable with a very friendly & helpful staff. Breakfast was available for 3 hours so no need to rush.
Review 87:No shower curtain around the bath so it was very difficult to shower without getting the floor wet.
Review 88:Good location within walking distance of old town. Secure parking Lovely swimming pool. Helpful staff. Lovely breakfast with a good variety of items. Very reasonable bar prices.
Review 89:Breakfast and it seemed the hotel itself was in a residential area without any views but the room didn't have a balcony anyway. Only some rooms had airconditioning.
Review 90:We liked the staff, very friendly and accommodating. Close to train station and centre of town, nice swimming pool.
Review 91:The rooms very clean and pretty comfortable ,but the bathroom was a little tight for certain functions .Lots of room for the bidet but the toilet was quite a tricky affair .The hotel is between a railway line and a road and both were quite noisy at times ,although not at night .The walls seemed a little thin ,as i could here conversations from other rooms quite easily .Lastly I think charging for the car park is a bit cheeky ,but it is secure ,if a bit tight to drive in and out of .
Review 92:The staff were always friendly and helpful .Everybody I spoke to, could communicate pretty well in English ,which was handy ,as my French is a little rusty. The pool was a nice touch ,in a town location ,although I am not a pool person ,it was a nice place to relax .The breakfast was OK ,normal continental style and the baked goods were always fresh . Easy walking distance to town with it's restaurants and bars .This hotel is a good base and compared to the prices of most hotels in France not bad value.
Review 93:Paid parking. Even though you can easily park on the street right in front of the hotel for free.
Review 94:Location is good. Less than 10 mins walk from the city center. The staff was very helpful and even though there were no fridges in the room they offered to put our things in the restaurant fridge. Swimming pool is clean and cosy. Was very nice to lay by the pool after the long tiring day. Breakfast was delicious and pretty cheap.
Review 95:Being charged €4 to "park" our bicycles in the garage shed at the rear - I know they charge for cars, but this did seem a little odd.
Review 96:On arrival I was a bit disappointed, as this is not the most aesthetically pleasing of buildings from the front, and is in a rather drab Bergerac back street. However, first impressions were wrong and this place is a real gem. The room was very comfortable, the shower excellent, the pool an added bonus and breakfast very good (albeit at €7.50 extra). All this and only about 10 minutes walk from the historic centre. Book here and you will not regret it!
Review 97:- scratchy towels!
Review 98:- Family room for 4, but with separate space for the children - Availability of a pool and sun loungers, plus table tennis - Good wi-fi - Overall very good value
Review 99:It´s a very old fashioned hotel. The rooms and the bathroom¨s decoration are ugly. There isn´t lift.
Review 100:The staff is nice, the swiming pool. The breakfast is good
Review 101:Decor is seriously dated Location is out of the nice/touristy part of Bergerac Bed pillows/bolsters are utterly rubbish!
Review 102:Friendly staff Great pool area Very clean Good value for money Car parking free and onsite
Review 103:A bit scruffy. Charged extra for parking (tip - there is a free car park next door). No air conditioning
Review 104:Family room with seperate annexe for children. Nice pool at end of the garden.. Easy walking distance to centre of Bergerac. Quiet location.
Review 105:Booked 2 twins for one night at either end of our stay. Given 1 twin and 1 double on first night and could not change as all twin rooms apparently occupied. Still, on our return stay they made sure they got it right!
Review 106:Great location, great little swimming pool in private garden, car park (difficult to park in central Bergerac). Room fine if basic. Really nice receptionist.
Review 107:The charge to park your car at the rear of the hotel (4 euros pernight.) However, free public car park next door but one availableovernight.
Review 108:Cleanliness, helpful staff, nice rear garden and pool, value for money.
Review 109:The hotel was located in a quiet street close to the centre of Bergerac. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless. The pool and garden area were just lovely and I highly recommend this hotel.
Review 110:Was a little noisy in the early hours due to an exchange between two adults, but all appeared fine just a little high on spirits so the speak.
Review 111:Staff very approachable and genuinely seemed pleased to see you! Pool is a nice touch and the location very good in relation to the lovely town of Bergerac.
Review 112:Located close to Bergerac. Hotel facilities were good. Rooms comfortable and well presented. Monsieur and Madame were approachable and attentive. Hotel well maintained and presented. Pool a bonus. Breakfast basic french but self service and plentiful. Have stayed twice. Will stay again. Great accommodation, value for money!
Review 113:Tout va bien
Review 114:A convenient location close to the railway station. Everything necessary for comfortable overnight stay. We would be very happy to stay for longer. Helpful and welcoming staff, tolerant of our little eccentricities.
Review 115:We were immediately made welcome and the hotel owner had spoken with the person from whom we had hired bikes and arranged delivery time. The hotel was perfectly located for sightseeing and in a quiet area. Comfortable, clean and compact. Breakfast was plentiful! Plus I left my I-pad and received a 'phone call to request a forwarding address. Excellent all round, great value.
Review 116:The unassuming frontage conceals a comfortable and friendly hotel, very conveniently situated five minutes walk from the beautiful old town centre and picturesque river. Our room was quite small but very clean and perfectly adequate with TV and en suite facilities. The hotel provides private off-road parking and a pleasant little garden with swimming pool. We found the Europ'hotel to be excellent value for money and would happily return for another stay.
Review 117:staff very helpful and friendly
Review 118:Located close to the old town and railway station.
Review 119:Basic but then again it was very cheap!
Review 120:Staff very very friendly and could not do enough for us.
Review 121:Location very good and cleanliness a good standard
Review 122:nice quiet location and yet really central for the town
Review 123:All was good
Review 124:Location was excellent. Secure parking. Wifi good. It's dated, but in a good, groovy way.
Review 125:Convenient near city center.
Review 126:A little bit out of the centre - some rather quiet streets to walk down at night time.
Review 127:Great staff, very clean, excellent room and breakfast.
Review 128:About time they changed the blankets on the beds, very old and tatty, let's them down
Review 129:Lovely and clean, very good location with car park
Review 130:A very casual hotel - not too many rules
