Reviews for La Casa De Juansabeli

Review 1:Nothing to dislike

Review 2:An older hotel which is 5 minutes drive out of town, but swaps convenience for a beautiful and peaceful location. One of the family members is also the charming chef and the food is terrific, wholesome and delicious. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and helpful. They even found and lent us a small backpack for walking the Ruta de Cares when we had forgotten ours. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 3:Lots of character, excellent staff, beautiful location, close to start of cares gorge walk (5-10 minute drive). Quiet, easy to find. Ate at hotel restaurant both nights - meals were delicious - some of best food we have had in Spain at very good value prices - wished we could have stayed longer!

Review 4:Mattress too soft. Quite loud stream outside the windows but overall the hotel is great!

Review 5:Fantastic service, very helpful staff. Convenient and peaceful location, close to trails. Very good restaurant - everything very tasty despite only two dishes to choose from. Overall, great value for money. If we ever get back to Picos de Europa we'll definitely stay there!

Review 6:Excellent price. The food was absolutely amazing. Friendly and helpful staff. We were given a choice of rooms. Walking distance to Arenas, in fact a nice evening stroll. Would go back for the food alone.

Review 7:Nothing.

Review 8:The proprieters were so nice and so helpful. Though a 2 star, it was fantastic, comfy feel and in idyllic settings. Great value, great cooking and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Already planning our next visit.

Review 9:The relaxed atmosphere. We were made to feel at home in this small family run establishment. Evening meals and breakfasts were top quality and excellent value for money. We ate some superb local dishes such a goat stew and cured beef. Very typical decor - very Spanish.

Review 10:Grumpy receptionist (older gentleman) but that was okay as everyone else was fine. Wifi only on the terrace but again not the biggest problem in the world.

Review 11:Great breakfast, lovely Asturian style building. Great location in the mountains. Great to be close to Las Arenas.

Review 12:Excellent place to stay. We had thought that we might eat out in the evening, but after trying the food the first night we realised it would be a waste of time as the food was excellent.

Review 13:4 days the same music in the dinnerroom, breakfast was composed of to many sweets

Review 14:atmosphere, friendliness, helpfulnes, everything, e.g. dinner, was made with care, beautifull nature

Review 15:The only outside terrace is overlooking the parkingspace and facing the mainroad on 40 meters.

Review 16:The hotel has an overall score of 9,5, hotel-wise this is somewhat overrated. The restaurant was really good though. Still when it comes to the hotel a 9,5 is overrated. We knew the hotel was on the S114, a main road passing through the villages, and parallel to a small brook (romantic if you enjoy the sound, otherwise it can keep you awake too). On making the booking we requested a quiet room. On arrival we discovered we were given a room (no.12) on the front, somewhat 40 meters from the road. We kindly asked for a quieter room, but we were told that there would hardly be any traffic during the night. Still after some persistance were given a quiet room at the back. no. 27. This was enjoyably quiet. Strangely enough the floor seemed to have warm spots like floorheating was on (outside it was nearly 28 degrees celcius), Maybe hotwaterpipes? Who knows. Still this can be enjoyable in winter too. The beds are o.k. Bathroom neat and clean. Room size 5x6 meters. Roomquality equals roomprize of € 69,-- incl. breakfast (2015) Restaurant: quality of the food is really good, compared to the price €15 for a 3-course meal incl. wine and coffee.

Review 17:A superb family run hotel with an extremely talented chef producing some of the most wonderful food for an unbelievably low price.Just look at the menus! Definately a place I look forward to returning.

Review 18:Our room faces the highway so there is some traffic sound at night; The hotel is in the gorge so the view may not be as good as those looking with more open views to the mountains

Review 19:The location is close to town (Arenas) but not right in, so gives the feeling of being away from other tourists while being close to convenience; Restaurant in the hotel serves very nice dinner; Staff are friendly and try hard to help even for those with limited English

Review 20:Everything was ok.

Review 21:The location is excellent for visiting los Picos de Europa. The hotel has a lot of parking places. The centre of Arenas de Cabrales is only 3 minutes by car. The breakfast was very good and we also enjoyed the dinners. We had a terrace with a view.

Review 22:No air conditioning

Review 23:No need to go into local town for evening meal as food amazing...menu changed every day. While English speaking is limited had no trouble communicating. Would definitely recommend if looking for a base in the northern picos

Review 24:Wi fi is a bit unreliable.

Review 25:Comfortable, very clean and good value for money. Excellent food again at a very reasonable cost - dinner 15 euros. Lovely location and a hotel cat!

Review 26:Nothing. If I'm being really picky a couple more electric sockets would have been good. But this was a warm and welcoming place to be.

Review 27:Warm welcome to a family run hotel. Comfortable room with jacuzzi bath and amazing evening meals. This was the ideal place for us to stay.

Review 28:Nothing

Review 29:Everything! One of the owners could speak quite good English and went to a lot of trouble to help us get our car repaired in the local garage. Lovely dinner which was very good value.

Review 30:Nothing at all, we advice people to go there.

Review 31:- Very kind owners - The cook of the hotel is excellent. (Registered at Logis de France). - Possibility of lunch bag for hiker - Nice location and easy to find - Good quality/price Unfortunately for us, we arrived sick for our holidays, but the staff took care of us very well. (Calling doctor for us, adapted diner)

Review 32:We liked everything. Starting with the location, which is a great if you plan to visit Los Picos de Europa. It is also close (walking distance) to the lovely Arenas de Cabrales village. Our room was very comfortable and spotless clean. The owners know a lot about the area and give you a lot of information. Breakfast is great (good coffee, excellent local cured meats, home made pastry, etc.). And it is a relatively inexpensive hotel! What else can I say?

Review 33:The setting was stunning with mountains rising up around the hotel and a little waterfall and stream trickling down. The rooms were clean, well maintained and spacious. We had a little terrace on the top floor which was very private. The food was outstanding in quality and incredibly good value.

Review 34:With the Cares gorge "next door" and Fuente De (75 min) and Covadonga (35 min) within driving distance this is a great location for hikes in the Picos. Lovely owners and dont bother to eat somewhere else. Dinners were beautiful and excellent (and cheap at 15 euro's, amuse, 3 courses, wine, water and bread). Go Juansabeli as we did!

Review 35:The rooms were clean and comfortable with interesting traditional decor. The staff couldn't do enough for us printing off English menus, maps and information about the local food we were enjoying. The food and wine were excellent, especially the breakfast.

Review 36:Breakfast was a bit monotonous. Would have liked more variety. Too many sweet cake options.

Review 37:Size of room was very good. We were at the front of the hotel and had windows at the front and side with lovely views over the mountains. Quiet location. Lovely hotel.

Review 38:Excellent location for Picos walking. Outstandingly attentive service. Very good food fresh each day. Comfortable larg-ish room and attractive environment

Review 39:Wifi didn't work in our rooms, a strong connection is only guaranteed in the bar. we had lots of planning that we needed to do late into the night so when the bar closes internet access is impossible.

Review 40:The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The foo in the restaurant is delicious and excellent value for money.

Review 41:Smallish double bed

Review 42:Super-friendly staff Great dinner from talented chef, at low low cost -14 euro including wine Hearty breakfast Stunning views Huge car park Close to Rita de Carer

Review 43:Great family run hotel. We ate in the hotel at night and the food is amazing for the price. Not worth going anywhere else to eat. Other guests agreed. Very helpful and pleasant family. Will stay here again

Review 44:The quiet location with a great view from our room. Room and hotel both very clean and tidy and traditionally furnished. Lovely family run business. Food was fantastic...we had planned on eating out some evenings, but didn't in the end as the best dining and surroundings were right here. Plenty of Spanish people using the restaurant, bar and terrace in the evening were testament to this. Great place to base ourselves and explore the Picos and the coast. Unlike a lot of hotels, the WiFi works well!

Review 45:Position, position, view, friendly, helpful owner/chef. Evening meal the best we have had in Spain. Breakfast just as good. Great hospitality. Great value for money. Able to do walks from town, 1km away.

Review 46:This hotel is a true Spanish gem! Full of character but not overdone. We stayed in a double room with ensuite bathroom. It was beautifully clean and the bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. The staff speak very little English but are so helpful and charming that it does not really matter. Our Spanish is minimal, but we do like to give it a try!. The photos on the website do not lie or give a false impression. The food is excellent value and beautifully presented. We stayed originally for one night while travelling through Asturias and came back for another two nights, one of which I booked over the phone using my Spanish phrasebook to help me. My Spanish must have been awful, but the lady understood me and we were so grateful when we arrived and they were expecting us! We stayed in the same room on our return. The hotel is a very short walk from Arenas de Cabrales, so although it seemed isolated, it is relatively easy to get to the town, which is a tourist town for hikers and walkers, with bars, restaurants and shops.

Review 47:The room we had was next to a waterfall, which was lovely but if the weather had been hotter we would not have been able to open the window at night because of the noise.

Review 48:Breakfast was very good. The room was big, with a comfortable bed.

Review 49:This place has to be one of the best the bargains in Spain. Simple but comfortable accommodations, excellent dinner, and perfectly located for Picos exploration. Highly recommend.

Review 50:Our room whic was at the back was next to a stream which was very pretty but quite noisy, did not really bother us but some guests would have had difficulty sleeping. I would imagine the rooms at the front of hotel could be noisy as overlooking the road.

Review 51:Good location and value for money. Hotel food excellent. Staff were very friendly but did not speak English and as we spoke no Spanish managed to converse in French! Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Review 52:Very friendly visit, great location - good value for money

Review 53:Very friendly and the food was exceptional.

Review 54:Lovely traditional hotel serving great food

Review 55:Excellent location. Staff is very helpful, service very good.

Review 56:Incredible staff, incredible food, comfortable, beautiful. My favorite hotel I have ever stayed in.

Review 57:Great location, host, food and atmosphere

Review 58:We had a room at the back, it was lovely with a little patio area.

Review 59:There is a mountain spring right on the property with cold delicious water.

Review 60:The food was amazing a menu del dia for 15 euros including wine and a fabulous breakfast for 5 we will be back

Review 61:Nice staff, good breakfast, great dinner

Review 62:terrible internet connection, the shower hose was broken.

Review 64:Quiet Location with large car park. Excellent food

Review 65:Nothing very good value

Review 66:Very clean very welcoming good food fantastic breakfast.

Review 67:Restaurant Country feel Comfortable Small quality hitel

Review 68:The owners are very friendly and accommodating, they also run a small restaurant on the premises with excellent food.

Review 69:Wifi comes and goes

Review 70:Good breakfast, nice sized rooms, friendly staff.

Review 71:Great staff, very welcoming, checks all the boxes.

Review 72:Only a minor thing... the room was a bit humid and chilly.

Review 73:The location is perfect if you want to reach the Picos de Europa National Park. The dinner option was tasty, good value for money and huge in terms of portions. Same is true for the breakfast.

Review 74:We spent 4 nights here and were very satisfied. The food is excellent and the staff extremely friendly. Although it is a kilometer out of Las Arenas this was not a problem. We did not have a car and the walk was quite pleasant. We found the local taxis quite adequate, and cheap at about 1 euro/km, for getting to the start of walks. There are also a lot of walks accessible on foot from the hotel. All in all we highly recommend this hotel.

Review 75:The hotel was very tastefully furnished and presented. The evening meal was available from 8.30 p.m. (Some places not until 9.30 p.m.) There was a pleasant terrace area. Lovely views. Kind and helpful staff. Very, very good value.

Review 76:Nothing of any significance

Review 77:Excellent food which was very well priced. All around friendly service which even extended to printing daily menus in English.

Review 78:Need a car to drive into village.

Review 79:Despite most staff having limited English they were all very helpful and friendly. Food was very good and reasonably priced.

Review 80:This was a lovely,beautifully-decorated, and comfortable hotel in a quiet location by a fast-moving stream. You could hear the water at night which is a comforting sound-puts you right to sleep! It was family-run and Sammy, the son, went to cooking school. He served some very fine meals while we were there. The hotel is situated a little out-of-town (about 1 km.), far enough away to have a very peaceful experience but close enough to get to town on foot quickly. This is a terrific place!

Review 81:Friendly place, although empty when we went. Helpful with directions.Just out of town (one km), so probably quieter location to stay in thebusy season.

Review 82:It was located about 10 minutes' outside of Arenas de Cabrales, andI think it would be a bit dangerous if you wanted to walk into townafter dark because you'd have to walk right on the motorway -there's no footpath. The hotel restaurant was closed because it wasoff-season.

Review 83:The staff members were very helpful and friendly. Everything was cleanand the beds were very comfortable. The included breakfast was very goodvalue - it was so big, we couldn't eat all of it!

Review 84:Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and excellent food available at reasonable cost for dinner. Compliments to the chef!

Review 85:All round excellence -- staff, evening meal, location etc Excellent value

Review 86:restaurant closed would have liked to try their recommended food.

Review 87:lovely hotel, friendly staff. good breakfast. comfortable rooms

Review 88:- Location - quite outside of the town, close to a gas station

Review 89:Very good value for money. Staff very friendly. Excellent breakfast included and the menu of the day was good and reasonable.

Review 90:Delicious breakfast, large and comfortable rooms, helpful staff. Great value for reasonable price.

Review 91:The food, menu, is excellent , specially taking into account the price.
