Reviews for Hotel Continental - Balneario de Panticosa
Review 1:We were on a strenuous trek and this was the only place that had a vacancy at a week's notice. It was definitely a cut above the mountain refuges and occasional 2-star hotels that we had been using. The resort is a bit of a ghost town in September and there is little to do so we spent most of our time in our room, avoiding the rain. The room itself was spacious and WARM - in an unseasonably-cold September, this was the only place we had stayed that had turned on the central heating. Lovely. The wi-fi works very well throughout the hotel. For dinner, we used the restaurant on the mezzanine floor and it was an all-you-can-eat buffet with a mixture of international food and delicious local specialities. The breakfast was in the same place and again it was a decent buffet affair. One of the receptionists was a Spanish gentlemen who did not speak French or English so we struggled a bit with our very basic Spanish but a second gentlemen was Polish and spoke several languages so we were able to sort everything out OK. This was a smart place to stay but they didn't mind us turning up smelly with rucksacks.
Review 2:We went in low season and half of the services shown on this page were actually not available : only one restaurant open, only one bar as well and closing really early. We waited a really long time each time we wanted a drink. Casino was closed as well. I think they should specify this when people book a room in low season.
Review 3:The location is amazing, very calm and beautiful. The Hotel is pretty clean and calm, the room was quite big and the bed really comfortable. Food was pretty good as well. Quick access to the SPA which was really nice!
Review 4:Have to pay 27.50 euro per person per day for access to the swimming pools. The worst dinner buffet ever. Just go to the Italian restaurant around the corner (because it can't be worse than the buffet) Breakfast buffet is bad, stale bread. Rancy ham. Baguettes as hard as rock.
Review 5:Location
Review 6:the building is getting a bit obsolete
Review 7:unique location!
Review 8:Bedroom was in bad conditions. Food had not good quality. Bartenders were not professionals.
Review 9:the maintenance of the place is a bit lacking - probably from the elongated economic downturn
Review 10:location and outdoor amenites
Review 11:The balneario was too crowded. They should lower their maximum capacity because you had to wait in a line to use the sauna or jets in the different pools and when you could get in there were no places to sit.
Review 12:The scenery surrounding the hotel is gorgeous. The breakfast buffet was average for 9€.
Review 13:No air conditioning working , food at the Italian restaurant food sent back not only by us but others it was disgusting , except for the pizza. The other restaurant food was generally good but my wife's main course of baby squids they were full of sand or similar and had to be sent back . As far as the wine I selected on four ocations different wines the waiter came back to inform me that they did not have them . Also the bar selection was very poor and poorly stocked . They did not have enough staff as you had to wait a long time to be served also the barman was other places and often had to be called by the reception , ect . I could go on for example the spar we paid cash in advance to use it but were unable because my wife was not well ,I asked for my money to be returned and I was told it was not possible . So no money if you can make sense of that I can't so I will ask for your help in this matter
Review 14:The staff only
Review 15:Upstairs buffet restaurant very ordinary. There is an a la carte which we didn't try thois could well be better
Review 16:On site geo thermal spa is awesome with views of the mountains from outdoor pool.
Review 17:Could not get my laptop to connect to net even though wi fi wasavailable but see opposite. The staff in bistro restaurant were notquite with it,tried to convince us only 1 menu available when there wasa gourmet type menu there too.As it was end of season only 1 restaurantopen, but understandable, not enough guests to be viable so would stillvisit again at this time as long as an alternative menu with betterfood available
Review 18:Internet cafe with 4 pc,S.Hotel in great location.A Member of staff atmain desk helped get the menu we wanted
Review 19:Everything is perfect but just have only problem with heater but the staff have recovered by portable one. Also wifi does not cover all the facilities of hotel.
Review 20:The location and the staff were very friendly.
Review 21:the desperate condition of an obviously pre crisis designed place that could be buzzing and luxurious. you have to love design and architecture to understand some of the strange details.
Review 22:a beautiful place on 1600m height surrounded by two 3000m-peaks. but you have to know that there is nothing to do except of hiking and skiing. you are dependand of two restaurants (ok food for ok prices, no supermarket) there is the luxurious thermal bath and a deserted grand hotel. parts of the bath are already out of function what is a bit sad, still it is beautiful architecture with beautiful views and a very nicely designed. still worth the money if you try to stay longer than 2 hrs. the hotel´s staff is very professional and friendly. for sure a place that i would recommend to my friends if you are open to smething a bit different.
Review 23:We booked at the last minute and paid for a double room 150 euros with a bad breakfast ( food bad quality ) and we paid for the Spa 24 euros per person where it was so cold and noisy because the complex is too big. This hotel is at 10 kilometers from the village (mountain road), nothing to do during the night, the hotel has just a bar, a brasserie and a restaurant where you can take only a buffet. the decoration "Design" was not very functional We booked many times with Booking.com and it is the first time we are so disappointed.
Review 24:We like the brasserie and the quiet situation
Review 25:The Balneary was overcrowded, not the kind of place to relax after a skiday (it was high season). The construction, as well, is one of thebiggest attempt i´ve ever seen vs the nature, with a huge and uselessparking abandoned and non-ended constructions around
Review 26:The staff is kindly friendly and the room was spacious and trullycomfortable. Food was good and the environment is amazing. The oldbuildings around the hotels are really charming
Review 27:Food choice was very limited and staff in the restaurant were not very helpful.
Review 28:Spa and location
Review 29:I barely understand how this hotel got a 4-star ranking. Too many things out of order in the room.
Review 30:The only hotel at the site...
Review 31:Would be great if access to Spa came included with hotel residence.
Review 32:Had a wonderful stay. Fantastic setting.
Review 33:Parking
Review 34:i liked the room, and the hotel situation
