Reviews for La Colline

Review 1:Nothing!

Review 2:Absolutely everything! Fabulous location, host, amenities, breakfast. Beautiful facility has the breakfast room overlooking the garden. Easy and free street parking opposite the secure entry door. Modern living in a picturesque, unforgettable place. We would love to return! Great restaurants.

Review 3:(free) wifi site showed up on devices, but couldn't complete the connection.

Review 4:Convenient location, good price, very new & clean, big shower, super breakfast that included homemade items, and superb owners.

Review 5:Nil

Review 6:Fantastic location, peaceful and everything that was described. Walking distance to town centre and tourist sites. Our host Stefan was very helpful with restaurants and other information needed. Breakfast was a good start to the day. We haven't finished exploring the area and will definitely be back

Review 7:A hidden gem, beautifully comfortable and modern accommodation with super bathroom. The rooms are set in a delightful courtyard and breakfast is served in an immaculate dining area. The hosts, Anne Marie and Stephane are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Restaurants, Bayeux Tapestry and cathedral are just a walk away. We will definitely stay at La Colline when we are next in Normandy.

Review 8:We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Beautiful accomadations, wonderful host and perfect town to use as a base for day trips. Breakfast was perfect. We would lunch while touring during the day. So many dinner options in town, but we opted to walk down the street to Le Conquerant for dinner.

Review 9:Everything was perfect!

Review 10:The accommodations at LaColline are terrific and the town of Bayeux is lovely. When you enter the gate from the street you are greeted by a stunning garden space. Stéphane's lovely house is to the right and the bed and breakfast accommodations are to the left. In between are flowers, chairs, grassy spaces and interesting lawn ornaments. We rented the downstairs room with terrace so that we could enjoy the beautiful garden space. Inside, our room had a very comfortable bed, spacious bath with a fabulous shower, two robes, a small table with two chairs and a well-equipped kitchenette. Breakfast was provided in Stephen’s lovely dining room in the main house and was the traditional French breakfast of croissants, breads, jams, cakes, crepes, juices, granola, yogurt, meats and cheeses. Coffee and tea were both offered. WiFi was good and we appreciated the keypad entry on the gate as it allowed us to come and go without worry. On street parking was not a problem. La Colline is truly just steps from all the sights and was a great jumping off point for our tour of the D-Day Beaches with Bayeux Shuttle. As others have mentioned, Stéphane is a warm and welcoming host. As an example, he allowed us to drop our luggage off early as we were on our way to Mont Saint Michel and didn’t want to leave it on the car all day. A great stay and a great host.

Review 11:Wonderful host. Beautiful garden. Walk to village. Modern, new rooms and decor. High-end design. Quiet. Fantastic breakfast incl. in price. Free parking on street. Easy drive to coast.

Review 12:.We loved the owner, he was so wonderful to talk with. We loved our room, it was spacious and comfortable, and the garden is just a great added benefit. It was a couple blocks to walk into town which meant that it was nice and quiet for sleeping. Loved every piece about the property and our stay

Review 13:On road parking was difficult but if you find a spot then leave the car as everything is within walking distance

Review 14:Within easy walking distance of all the attractions

Review 15:This is a great location close to the town and many restaurants. The garden is very beautiful and the owners were very helpful. The rooms are five star but it would have been nice to have a small fridge in our room.

Review 16:We loved everything!

Review 17:The welcome and friendliness of the owner. The clean and attractive accomodation. The beautifully maintained gardens. The location.

Review 18:Nothing really. Maybe a mirror in the bedroom and more storage needed to hang clothes. Stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom may not be suitable for younger/small children.

Review 19:Stephan & Anne Marie were great hosts and made us very welcome in their property. Breakfast was particularly special. Thank you.

Review 20:We had a great two level apartment. Immaculately appointed and sparkling clean. Our host was charming and served a fabulous breakfast. Walking distance to several great restaurants.

Review 21:Absolutely nothing

Review 22:Steffane and Anne Marie. The beautiful garden in which our room and terrace were set. Outstanding accommadation which was quiet and peaceful in a busy town. La colline and our hosts were delightful. Best B+B ever.

Review 23:Room window does not open so had to leave door ajar throughout the night. Secure complex but not ideal.

Review 24:Ground floor room with terrace, lovely room, beautiful bathroom. Excellent breakfasts with attention to detail and perfect host/owner. Very attractive garden with ample seating/sun loungers for guests.

Review 25:We stayed with our two children. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the garden is beautiful. Perfectly situated for restaurants and museums this is a perfect base. The bed and bedding was excellent as was the breakfast which was shared with other guests, much to the delight of the kids! The hosts are friendly and chatty without being imposing. Highly recommended.

Review 26:We were looking for a friendly welcome, quiet location but walking distance to restaurants etc, lovely, modern, clean room, great breakfast - and it ticked all of our boxes and more - We will return (we didn't have our kids with us, but excellent family rooms, and equally great for couples)

Review 27:Only that wifi did not work in the bedrooms. Our daughter had a French phone so we made do with her wifi/data.

Review 28:Especially appreciated a quadruple which is a rare find. Parking was free on a side street and we felt very safe in the location close (walking distance)to town. Stéphane and Anne Marie were warm and attentive hosts. Stephane made excellent coffee, yogurt and jams. The rooms were modern, clean and tastefully simply decorated. No AC but none was needed. Beds were comfortably firm. Outdoor seating in beautifully landscaped yard.

Review 29:Loved everything

Review 30:Everything. Great & beautiful B & B. Hosts were fantastic. Location was great. Total pleasure. We have traveled all over the world & La Colline is one of the best & most pleasant.

Review 31:Wifi was provided but we had trouble accessing. No worries, it was a vacation so it felt good to "unplug" a bit.

Review 32:A perfect experience from booking through to the end of our stay. La Colline has perfected warm-welcomes and comfort. Our room was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with many regional and homemade specialties. Bedding was very comfortable. Bathroom modern and very clean.

Review 33:Stephan was extremely gracious and welcoming, the room was well appointed and comfortable, the breakfast generous and delicious, and the gardens absolutely exquisite.

Review 34:The location is perfect. Easy walk to the tapestry museum or one of the many wonderful restaurants. Also ver close to the train station. The family room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The free wifi worked perfectly too. This is a B&B, so the host and the breakfast are important. Stephan was an outstanding host and took thrive to show you everything about your room, made sure I could get wifi, and he puts a lot of effort into making a wonderful breakfast for everyone. He speaks conversational English as most of his clients come from the U.S., Australia or the UK

Review 35:I thought there was air conditioning. There wasn't any air conditioning nor was there a fan. The room faces the street and with opened windows there was constant noise. Very hard to sleep. Wifi absolutely does not work and should not advertise that it exists.

Review 36:The room was lovely and worked well for three people

Review 37:From the moment we walked through the door of the garden wall, we were thrilled that we chose to stay at this lovely place. We stayed in the loft suite that faces the street, and we slept soundly. Our daughters, ages 13 and19, slept in the loft and seemed to enjoy the separation from us for the 3 nights of our stay, and the spot-on wifi. The bathroom had every amenity from the rainhead shower, to the big fluffy towels on a towel warmer, to the blow dryer and plug-in that allowed us to use our curling irons. Our room was spotless and was cleaned to that standard each day. Our host, Stephen, spoke good English and met our requests without being intrusive. His breakfasts were wonderful. The location of this B&B was perfect. Within easy walking distance of the train station, city center, and good restaurants recommended by our host. We visited the Bayeux tapestry (very well preserved and nicely displayed), Mont St. Michel, and took a D-Day landing tour. All were great with good English-speaking guides. We also went inside the Norman cathedral in the town and it was really beautiful and worthwhile. Normandy is a beautiful area of France and this small town is lovely. We wish we could have stayed there longer. My husband says he hit it out of the park when he booked us at La Colline, and I agree.

Review 38:Everything!!! I had read the reviews before booking and they all lived up to everything they said!!! We could not if asked for better, fabulous room fabulous garden and fabulous breakfast. Steffan the owner could not of been more hospitable if your going to Bayuex this is a must to stay in. Thank u for s brill stay Sandra & Mark , Caterham , Surrey UK

Review 39:Everything was better than expected.

Review 40:Terrific host. Perfect quiet location within walking distance to all of the major sites in Bayeux. A nice breakfast. Large spacious bedroom and bathroom that had just been remodeled.

Review 41:Wifi was spotty.

Review 42:Stephan was absolutely the most gracious and helpful host. The accommodations exceeded our expectations...very modern, clean, spacious, and comfortable. The courtyard gardens were beautiful and good place to relax after our daytime adventures.

Review 43:Incredible B&B, large beautiful room and contemporary bath. Huge patio, garden area to relax in. A tremendous host and fabulous breakfast. Easy walk to town, sites and restaurants. Overall just perfect

Review 44:Would like silk sheets. Petty, eh?

Review 45:You will be happy here. Very good central location. Easy short walk to multiple restaurants. Easy drive to Omaha and Utah Beaches. Make sure you see the Bayeaux tapestry.

Review 46:Very nice staff, clean, lots of room, free wifi, tourist friendly, close to all of the historical D Day sites. Wonderful rooms. Parking is nearby on the street, but can get full at times. Food is great.

Review 47:Would have preferred a table to ourselves at breakfast rather than sharing the large table hosting the guests of all 4 bedrooms.

Review 48:The room was excellent with a very well equipped kitchenette which meant we could come and go as we pleased.

Review 49:The fact that when booking I was led to believe that it was a hotel. Thus we would not have stayed there had we known it was a b & B. Ihad booked for 4 nights assuming it was a hotel.

Review 50:It was very clean and lovely for a b & b

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:Stephan was the perfect host. He ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Location is perfect, just two blocks from the Bayeux Tapestery museum, and just a little further to the Cathedral and the many restaurants in the old part of town. As for the room, we couldn't fault it, and then Stephan told us about the many enhancements he had planned - to make it even better.

Review 53:None a perfect place to stay.

Review 54:From the moment we arrived we loved everything about La Colline. Verytastefully decorated, immaculately clean, beautiful garden, deliciousbreakfast shared around a large table with other guests lovely to meetband chat with others from around the world. Our free Wifi workedperfectly every time we logged on, we had the garden room and were ableto get Wifi in our room. Stephan our host was wonderful very friendlynothing was too much trouble. When we left we felt we had just stayedwith friends. La Colline is perfectly placed for visiting Bayeux a fewminutes walk to the town. We will definately go back

Review 55:Stephane was a great host. Wonderful breakfast. Terrific restaurant recommendations. Convenient location. Reserve early as the b and b fills quickly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Review 56:Needs a range extender for the router for wi-fi access.

Review 57:The room was superior. The Shower was wonderful and all the amenities were were elegant. A new facility. The owner, Stephan, was very attentive and friendly. We would recommend highly.

Review 58:WiFi wasn't working. Otherwise, everything couldn't have been more perfect.

Review 59:Very close to old city and cathedral. Within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, etc. Appointments were first class. Stephan was a wonderful host. Don't be concerned about the location, once inside the gate there is a lovely garden and you will be very pleased.

Review 60:La Colline Is well located to the train station, the town and attractions. The service was excellent. The breakfast was delicious and well served. The proprietor was very helpful at orienting us as to where things were located. He change his schedule to accommodate ours.

Review 61:Not one complaint.

Review 62:The host Stephane was the most friendly and helpful person one could wish for. He made enquiries and phone calls on my behalf and provided an excellent breakfast each morning. The accommodation is superb and is a short walk from the railway station and the Cathedral.

Review 63:From the moment we arrived for our 2 night stay to explore Bayeux and the D Day beaches Steffan was there to greet us to his fabulous home. We stayed in the luxury family room which was one of four bedrooms in a seperate building in the garden opposite the main house. The room was decorated very tastefully and appointed to a high level, although there was just the two of us it had two extra beds on the upper mezzanine floor. The inclusive breakfast was served in the family kitchen and was delicious offering a host of fresh breads, home made yogurts, marmalades and jams, hams, cheeses and many more tasty delights all served up by the capable hands of Steffan. As all guests share the same large table you meet people from all over the world visiting the sights of the fabulous Normandy coast. We shared breakfast with some very friendly American and French guests. Michele and I would not hesitate to return to La Colline for its great location in the centre of Bayeux, the quality of the food and accomodation and delightful owners. Keep up the good work Steffan and hope to see you again soon. Gary and Michele Hall, Pouton-Le-Fylde England.

Review 64:Couldn't fault it.

Review 65:Beautiful decor with a large bathroom and great shower. Also an excellent breakfast with friendly helpful hosts. And an adorable dog.

Review 66:TV reception was poor on many chanels. It would have been good to have an English speaking chanel eg BBC 1. No tea making facility in rooms.

Review 67:La Colline appeared from behind a nondescript wall like an oasis in the wilderness. A lovely garden fronted the stately three story main house opposite which was the guest accommodation. Very central to the town centre and station, la Colline was perfectly situated. Our host, Stephan, was most professional.

Review 68:Everything was very good. No concerns.

Review 69:Stephan took great care of us - facilities were great, meals great and a very nice quiet setting with a beautiful yard.

Review 70:Nothing really. It would have been nice if he took credit cards, but we can understand a small business not wanting to do so.

Review 71:Friendly owner, room beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, great breads and croissants at breakfast, no problem leaving luggage, wifi worked well and Stephane even loaned us an adapter since we forgot ours. He was terrific!

Review 72:Rooms are modern and comfortable located in a small annex building close to the main house, the hotel is conveniently located close to the town center, easily accessible

Review 73:The room was clean and modern. The bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with a large shower. The breakfast was tasteful and abundant. Our best stay in France.

Review 74:WiFi and TV signals not great. Need to ask Stephan how to turn heating down overnight as it was a little too warm.

Review 75:Stephan was very warm and welcoming and prepared a very nice breakfast for us. The accommodation is very conveniently located, just 100 metres from the Tapisserie, the cathedral and all the restaurants in the centre of town. Tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 76:A kettle in the room would have been welcome.

Review 77:Fantastic accommodation in a very convenient location. Wonderful host and breakfast was superb. First class comfort.

Review 78:Great hosts, spacious and well furnished room, lovely Breakfast - particularly Stephane's homemade jam and yogurt, great location - very quiet yet close to the centre of the town. Would definitely recommend La Colline.

Review 79:Having to wait 15 minutes for someone to open the door. The picture onbooking.com page is his home,NOT the accommodatiom!!! However the roomwas modern and clean, just not what we expected from the pictures!! Alsostill no wifi after 6mths in...

Review 80:Stefan was lovely..

Review 81:Wifi didn't work well (which was a big deal for us because we were not traveling with our youngest 3 children and we greatly look forward to our time talking with them each night.)

Review 82:The apartment was lovely and very clean and well appointed. Host was wonderful and very helpful.

Review 83:Room needs WiFi, clock/radio, English channels on the TV, luggage rack, small desk to place computer

Review 84:Location is good, free parking outside the hotel - but during busy season parking may be difficult.

Review 85:Took awhile for heater to warm the room. Wifi was a little spotty.

Review 86:Very accommodating host, lovely breakfast, large comfortable room and within walking distance to everything in this beautiful little town.We were very appreciative to owner for some confusion at booking on our part. We will definitely stay again and will recommend to friends traveling there.

Review 87:The owner is a fantastic host. He's very knowledgable about the area, speaks good English and serves a great breakfast. The location couldn't be better for exploring Bayeux on foot.

Review 88:I could not get the wifi to work in one of the rooms but this was a very miner point

Review 89:Excellent rooms, peaceful garden but in the centre of Bayeux, a medieval city to stroll around in the evening. No hesitation in recommending la Colline. We had a relaxing stay. The breakfasts were wonderful especially the home made youghart!

Review 90:Could do with kettle in room no where els on site to get tea coffee needs a coffee maker at breakfast something quicker the stephan don't get wrong an excellent place to stay

Review 91:Top location very friendly very nice acomadation nice food at breakfast

Review 92:The owner, host was fantastic, The rooms are 5 star quality, Location was ideal... walk to cathedral, the Bayeux Tapestry and the village for great meals.

Review 93:The bedroom area was cramped and had little room for suitcases. Poor Wi-Fi connection.

Review 94:The room and building are new, modern and well-appointed. The bathroom is large. The hosts are warm and welcoming. The location is a couple blocks to the Bayeux Tapestry museum and a very short walk to the city center.

Review 95:Windows couldn't open in bedroom. Wasn't able to pay with credit card.

Review 96:Comfortable room, excellent location to visit town by foot, and an easy drive to visit the D day beaches ...and a lovely breakfast!

Review 97:Wifi only worked outside of the room. But that was not a big issue for us as everything else was simply perfect.

Review 98:We had the most wonderful time staying at La Colline. Stephane, the owner, is very nice and makes you feel like at home. He prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning and we enjoyed our great conversations with him. He gave us good restaurant recommendations as well as for sightseeing. La Colline could not have a better location. It's in a quiet street just off to the city center of Bayeux. Downtown with all its shops and restaurants is a short 3 minute walk away.

Review 99:Stefan, the owner was a fantastic host. The B&B was located behind a beautiful door off a quiet street. There is a gorgeous patio area with lots of flowers and a sitting area for bringing in baguettes, cheese and meat and of course, wine! Newly remodeled and very elegant. The best sheets, pillows and towels in the world! We will come back there again. Stefan offers great tips for dining and sight-seeing. Thank you Stefan for a great vacation stay! Hi to Viva!

Review 100:I found the bed too firm. We would like to have been able to open a window - but being in the garden room this was probably the reason no windows could open.

Review 101:The decor was very contemporary. It was very clean. The location was perfect for visiting D-Day Museums etc.and walking into Bayeaux town. The breakfast was excellent and very fresh. Some was home made which was very special.

Review 102:Stephane is a great host--very welcoming and accomodating. He was particularly attentive to our 8 year old daughter who voted La Colline her favorite of the eight places we stayed during our trip. The breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. Our room was comfy and very clean--loved the towel warmer in the bathroom. Everything (cathedral, tapestry, restaurants, train station) was much closer than expected. Overall, a wonderful stay in Bayeux.

Review 103:The property was very clean, updated with a very nice garden. The staff (Stephan) was very helpful. Our only reservation was the limited WIFI coverage

Review 104:We had to go out onto the balcony to receive wifi. (Some sort of booster required?) There needs to be somewhere to place our luggage..perhaps a bench? Just suggestions for our host.

Review 105:Excellent location...could not have been better. All appointments in our room were brand new, the bed was very comfortable, there was no sound from the traffic below our window. We enjoyed our host's sense of humour and the breakfast he prepared was fantastic both morning we were there.

Review 106:Our stay at La Colline was nothing short of memorable. 1) Perfect location, 2-3 min walk to cathedral, tapestry museum and restaurants.... 2) The place was newly renovated with tasteful deco, and rooms are sparklingly clean and comfortable. 3) You have very friendly host and hostess. The breakfast is served in a very beautiful dinning room with rather extensive varieties. Host is there attending everyone’s need. We had great time talking to him and learning about Normandy food. 4) You get opportunity to chat with other fellow travelers, exchange travel experiences and tips. As matter of fact we had lovely time talking to other quests during our stay. In short, La Colline is not just a place to sleep in; rather it is the place to get wonderful overall travel experience.

Review 107:The room was pristine and lovely but there was minimal space for hanging clothes or getting baggage out of the way.

Review 108:If you want to see the tapestry and old town Bayeux, you couldn't be more conveniently located. Walk to everything. The garden is beautiful and the proprietor is very personable and friendly. Also, good at getting guests talking to each other so we had some interesting discussions and met some new friends. He served a good breakfast.

Review 109:We would have liked to stay even longer, but there was no availability. Get your reservations in early!

Review 110:From the pictures online I expected a location on the edge of town. However, La Colline is situated right in the heart of Bayeux walking distance to everything. The furnishings are modern and everything is sparkling clean. We loved the morning breakfasts in the big house. The personal touches with the homemade jams made it even better. Stefan is a delightful host and it was a wonderful way to start our 3 week vacation.

Review 111:NOTHING!!

Review 112:The LaColline was a wonderful place to stay in Bayeux. It was recently renovated which was beautiful done. The host was wonderful and wanted to make sure our stay was pleasant. The host prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning. The host was very accommodating. The location is great to all the attractions in Bayeux.

Review 113:Our stay at La Colline was great. The owner and host was very nice and ensured we had a pleasant stay. The rooms are newly renovated and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. We woke early the next morning and went down for breakfast (which was great) and were amazed to find there were other people staying there because of how quiet our room was and how well we slept. The tapestry museum, cathedral, and downtown area are within easy walking distance. We even walked from the train station with our rolling luggage. If we are ever in Bayeux again, we would definitely stay at La Colline

Review 114:Liked. Everything very much.

Review 115:The friendly welcome, the good night's sleep on crisp white linen, the exceptional breakfasts, an outstanding host, a location permitting walking to all local sites, 150 yards to The Tapestry and 100 more to the Catherdal and an easy drive to all the D Day beaches. Finally excellent restaurants two blocks away,

Review 116:I stayed in a duplex with my daughter & son in law that live in England, excellent facilities, 2 mins from the tapestry 4 mins from the cathedral. Super location to visit the D Day historical sites, nice breakfast room & lovely garden Highly recommended,Stephane was a super host if you can get a room book it you won't be disappointed. 5*****

Review 117:La Colline has only been open a couple of months. Our rooms weren'tready until 5pm and we were very tired from the overnight ferry. Theowner needs to enlist housekeeping help. Also you don't stay in thehouse pictured, but rather in purpose built rooms above the garage. Theywere lovely, but one was expecting to stay in the lovely 19th Centuryhouse pictured. Finally, payment in cash is demanded as he is not set upfor credit cards. My bill was nearly 1000 Euros and I was forced to takea cash advance from the one atm at the post office which only gives out300 Euros at a time.

Review 118:The rooms were very nice; clean and modern. The plumbing was excellent. The owners very friendly and accommodating.

Review 119:It was all great. My only advice would be to ring in advance to confirm arrival time. There was nobody in when we first got there (Stefan was out collecting another guest from the train station) so there was a brief moment of panic when we thought we might be sleeping in the car overnight!

Review 120:We stayed in the family duplex room, for one night on our way back from Brittany. The room was perfect; excellent facilities - very spacious, new and clean. Lovely breakfast which Stefan happily set up for us at 6.30 am so we could catch an early ferry. A great find which we would happily return to if visiting Bayeaux or the area again.

Review 121:Very friendly host and well presented accomodation, in our case the duplex family room for 4. Very close to centre of Bayeux. Well worth the money
