Review 1:No toiletries in bathroom

Review 2:Very nice landlord, perfect location to visit the chateau of Azay or others nearby, all very clean and good facilities, perfect breakfast with locally made produces, good wi-fi

Review 3:An excellent location with parking, so convenient to explore the area. Well furnished clean and spacious room, plentiful breakfast. Welcoming hostess.

Review 4:We have nothing negative to say about this place. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!

Review 5:This place was fantastic! We had a beautiful and comfortable room with private entrance and direct access to the garden. Our hostess was extremely helpful and provided excellent advice for visiting the Loire region. The room was comfortable, large and quiet. Easy walk into the centre of Azay-le-Rideau.

Review 6:Had we wanted a shower not a bath, we would have had to sit in the bath and showered holding the shower head, as there was no shower curtain. I found the paper screens which formed the door to the bathroom very confusing in the middle of the night! I had to switch the light on which disturbed my husband, so I could find my way into the bathroom. The Japanese futon bed was too hard for me, but my husband loved it.

Review 7:I loved the bath after a very long hard days pedalling. The property had a lovely garden with plenty of seats to sit.

Review 8:Clean and comfortable room. Great breakfast and our host was very helpful and hospitable + we improved our French. We could of course speak English as well if we wanted

Review 9:The owner was so friendly & helpful and told us all about the history of the building. The troglodyte caves behind the house were fascinating. Very close to Chateau Azay-le-Rideau & restaurants. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 10:Bed was very new, very modern and very hard !!!

Review 11:Welcome was excellent, room very nice. Location excellent, with parking on site. Owner very helpful with everything from local sights, places to visit, places to eat.

Review 12:No privacy in bathroom arrangement ( no door) for toilette. Also room entrance was directly on parking lot.

Review 13:Location, and the proprietor was always helpful with suggestions for sites and restaurants. she also helped all the guests communicate together when we didn't speak the same language!

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:Interesting accommodation with original features. Excellent breakfast and knowledgeable hostess. Lovely little village with nice restaurants and spectacular castle.

Review 16:A L'Ombre d'Azay is lovely calm and comfortable place to stay which I can recommend most highly. A most welcoming and helpful host made our experience very enjoyable. I hope to have to opportunity to stay there again.

Review 17:Excellent room, great facilities! Really good breakfast. The owners were very nice and helpful. We were doing a bike tour through the area and only stayed one night, but it was so nice, we wished we were staying longer. We were able to leave our bikes in an area off of the main entrance, which was nice.

Review 18:No credit cards. But owner was nice enough to guarantee the room anyway.

Review 19:The owner is very friendly and speaks English really well. She gave us some good recommendations to visit L'Illete château which we really liked. Rooms were very nice and large. The place has some caves at the bottom that adds a lot of character.

Review 35:Small hotel, family business. Very new property, everything is clean and new, stylish design of rooms. Breakfast was reach and extremely fresh and tasty!!! Very friendly lady (the owner), speaks fluent English, recommended good restaurants in town and booked a table for us. 5min walk from the Chateau. If we come back, definitely will stay here again.

Review 36:Nothing.

Review 37:The owners welcomed us when we arrived and showed us around. They were happy to speak our language although we also tried to speak French when we could. The owners were delightful and very friendly. They made recommendations about good places to visit and good restaurants. The rooms are spacious, clean and very modern. The beds were large and comfortable. The garden is beautiful. The breakfast is very good. The location of this B&B is excellent and as long as you drive slowly down the street, it is easy to find the place. It is a very unique and interesting place to stay.

Review 38:breakfast lacking of a bathroom door no TV

Review 39:Very friendly host who gave valuable information and interesting recommendations extraordinary and large room very interesting breakfast room secure parking

Review 40:Still quite a lot of evidence of building work in reception area that could easily be hidden behind screens

Review 41:The family are making this building into a really nice boutique location. Each bedroom has its own character.

Review 42:The owner were very helpful and gave us all the good information about local activities. The room was clean and bathroom was good. Breakfast was also nice.

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:Azay le Rideau is a lovely town and the Ombre d' Azay was the perfect place to stay. The accomadation was terrific value for money and the Owner and her family could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was excellent and the breakfast very French. We returned home with a boot full of fine wines and a collection of happy holiday memories.

Review 45:Friendliness of the staff. It was by far the best French breakfast we have had. The standard of the decor in the room exceeded our expectation for a chambre d'hôte.

Review 46:No air conditioning and there is insufficient signage to find the place. We had to search for it for 20 minutes.

Review 47:good, basic clean rooms. Well furnished. Good breakfast

Review 48:Bigger signage would be helpful - uncertain where main entrance was on arrival! Also, beware high road curb on leaving - we needed to take off our bike carrier as it hit the pavement.

Review 49:Extremely welcoming and hospitable hosts. Best breakfast we have ever had in similar places - fabulous variety of local produce. Plenty of parking on site. Location in town centre but the large grounds give country feel.

Review 50:In an ideal world it would have been lovely to have been offered a drinkon our arrival and explanations of how to usebath/shower/opening and locking the bedroom door seemed ratherlong winded after a long and tiring drive from England. Our first Frenchbreakfast consisted of just plain bread and croissants as well as coffeeor tea, although on our second day butter, a variety of conserves andalmond bread appeared, so perhaps this was an oversight on the firstmorning. The troglodyte cave sitting area extension to the kitchen wasvery interesting but felt a little damp. The bathroom was the same sizeas the bedroom and separated from it by sliding paper divisions. Thelarge bath was situated in the middle of the room but the hand heldshower attachment over the bath leaked all over the floor. If you wouldlike a 'proper' shower make sure you don't have this room. The place has obviously been expensively renovated but as yet feels alittle unfinished. The stairs needed care to negotiate and the receptionarea needs completing. Soon, I'm sure, the garden will be tidied upand an area created for guests to sit outside in the warm sunshine andrelax a little bit more.

Review 51:The accommodation was in an excellent location close to the centre ofAzay-le-Rideau, (a little difficult to find as there is no sign for theentrance along the busy, narrow road) and just a short walk to thechateau, market, restaurants and shops. We were offered advice on whereand where not to eat. The a l'Ombre d'Azay was very close to theexcellent Loire à Vélo route along which we were cycling during theday. The large 'zen' bedroom we stayed in at the top of thestairs felt Japanese, looked smart and expensively decorated. There wasplenty of storage and helpful touches such as a bottle of water and analarm clock. My husband loved the 'hard' mattress. A hair-dryerwould have been appreciated. The family were extremely helpful and letus leave cars in the car park during the day.

Review 52:Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean with updated bathroom. A haven for garden lovers with all the plants, flowers, and trees surrounding the entrance.

Review 53:The lobby is under renovation and the first impression when you arrive might not be good.

Review 54:Staff very kind and always ready to help. Room big and clean. Location 5 minutes walking from the Castle. Parking.

Review 55:The owners are still in the process of doing up the buildings so there is a lot of building rubble, bare plaster-board walls with the accompanying cold, damp smell of building works.

Review 56:Very warm welcoming staff (although couldn't find anyone at first when we arrived). Excellent breakfast with local specialties. Bedroom clean, warm and modern.

Review 57:These are not dislikes but more suggestions, we only stayed for onenight, install tv and tea /coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 58:This is not a hotel more a chambre d'ote so you get a very personalservice dealing with the owners, lots of information given, spaciousroom, very central location, generous breakfast,

Review 59:No sign out the front. Had trouble finding it. No apparent reception area, so didn't know where to go.
