Reviews for Hôtel de Biencourt
Review 1:The owner welcomed us with warmth and clear explanations of the hotel and its environs. While there is no parking at the hotel, there is plenty of parking (free) within 300m of the hotel. The location is excellent with easy access to restaurants, walking and bike riding trails. An exquisite location close to many of the great chateaus in the Loire Valley.
Review 2:Perfect start to our cycling holiday. Bicycles stored in their garage opposite hotel in the centre of Azay Le Rideau. They recommended the restaurant a few doors away towards the Chateau which was also very good.
Review 3:Beautifully restored old building with great open courtyard for evening drinks. Breakfast featured all local produce Staff very pleasant. Only 50m away from Chateau
Review 4:Garage for bikes Comfortable bed Good restaurant almost next door 100m from chateau entrance excellent wifi good drying facilities able to check in early
Review 5:We stayed in a beautiful very stylish room. It made we want to go home and redecorate! Delicious breakfast, Central position, and wonderful staff who very kindly posted my kindle to me when I left it behind. A perfect stay.
Review 6:Moderately expensive. Costs 5 Euros to park motorbike in garage garage.
Review 7:Has a beautiful courtyard ideal for drinking morning coffee or sipping evening wine. There is a garage to park bicycles and motorcycles
Review 8:Homey and cozy hotel, great shower!! Very friendly owner, ready to help with a smile at all times. Just loved it all! We stayed at the attic cozy room and it was small, but not to small- just enough to be pleasant and romantic :)
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:Beautiful hotel which is beautifully maintained. Our room was small but it had everything we needed. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was great which is exactly what you need after a hard days cycling. The owner is very helpful and will recommend places to get dinner. The breakfast is fabulous an excellent value for money. The courtyard garden is magical.
Review 11:Not every room has air conditioning. It's not a big problem and seems to be pretty standard for hotels in France, but do keep it in mind.
Review 12:Super friendly owner, lovely courtyard, modernized rooms, very fair price. My fiance and I plan to revisit the town again and stay more than a day just to enjoy the hotel.
Review 13:Lovely hotel , great room and bathroom located on a lovely little street a few meters away from the castle. You can tell that a lot of time , effort and love has been put into this hotel . It is a little gem.
Review 14:The only issue was the need to park in the local car park which was slightly inconvenient.
Review 15:Friendly helpful staff, well appointed rooms, excellent courtyard to relax in a great little village. Great restaurants recommended by hotel.
Review 16:Beautifully and tastefully renovated older building just a few doors down from the Chateau. Charming room, comfortable beds, blackout shades on the windows, ample continental breakfast with all-you-can eat fresh bread, ham, sausage, two kinds of cheese, fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, cocoa, croissants, pain au chocolate, and perhaps yoghurt too, tho I didn't have any. Several different kinds of configures, honey. Nice interior courtyard and lounge where tea available all day. Free parking nearby. Charming hosts.
Review 17:An old school building beautifully converted into very comfortable and well appointed accommodation. Located in the heart of the town on a narrow pedestrianised street leading to the forecourt of the chateau. The courtyard in the centre of the building has been landscaped and terraced with comfortable seating where residents are encouraged to sit and enjoy a glass of their own wine which can be stored in a refrigerator provided for the purpose. Coffee and tea are also available "on the house". Our room was spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. A roomy, modern bathroom with an efficient shower. The owners were helpful and very attentive to our needs.
Review 18:The hotel was lovely and in a wonderful location. We parked for free around the corner and walked to the chateau nearby. The rooms were a good size and the shower was fantastic. The owner was very helpful and recommended a great restaurant called La Fontaine d'O. The village was great and we would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
Review 19:Everything was excellent.
Review 20:An ideal location so close to the chateau and in middle of small town. A couple of excellent restaurants a stone's throw from hotel. The decor and atmosphere of hotel was relaxed and cool.
Review 21:Wifi worked by speed was irregular.
Review 22:Owner/ manager was very cheerful, polite and helpful. He is well travelled and appreciates what other travelers want. He offered me complimentary self service tea on arrival and coffee at departure. Small gestures that are very human and very unlike any other 2-4 star hotel I stayed in France.
Review 23:Wonderful location 100m to fabulous shateau. Fabulous plase located on a cosy walking street with wonderful French restaurants and shops. Very lovely calm atmosphere.
Review 24:Comfortable room with modern facilities in charming property. Very helpful hosts. Nice lounge and beautiful inner courtyard with tables and chairs. Use of lounge fridge was perfect for afternoon chilled drinks from local market in courtyard after Chateaux visits! Excellent, good value, buffet breakfast; free coffee and teas during day in lounge. Two bottles of water provided in room each day were much appreciated during the hot weather. Lovely quiet situation in pretty street, so close to Chateau. Free public area parking; could unload and load car outside hotel.
Review 25:Once in a while and a big blue moon you come across an establishment which represents outstanding value and excellence on all counts. The owner was charming and most helpful, the building and its restoration magnificent, the room splendid in all respects. Very, very good!
Review 26:Bed was on the hard side. Bathroom was a little small for 4 adults. We made it all work though!
Review 27:The location was amazing and the town is so quaint. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.
Review 28:Patrick immediately stored our bikes, helped with our bags and took us to our room 11 through the beautiful inner courtyard. Told us the wine store closed in 10 mins so we immediately went and got some wine made locally. When we got back tea was ready- what service! Not only that but 2 wine glasses. Lovely room
Review 29:No elevator, no parking, very small rooms.
Review 30:Great location, friendly service, beautiful patio and inner yard with rose bushes, good buffet breakfast, good beds, very clean.
Review 31:Just slightly softer beds but this is not a deal breaker!
Review 32:Very welcoming but not overbearing staff. Hotel elegant but modern in an interesting building. Great but quiet location in the centre of Azay le Rideau
Review 33:Too hands-off management style with no refreshment on arrival, not even a bottle of water in the room. There is no parking and the public parking, some way away, is usually full while the access to the hotel for dropping off luggage is down a busy pedestrianised street. The breakfast was less wholesome than when we stayed here before with a paucity of fresh fruit.
Review 34:This is a lovingly looked after property in the centre of a pretty town. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and even at the front the room was quiet.
Review 35:No elevator No parking Very small rooms
Review 36:Great location Friendly service Beautiful patio with rose bushes Good breakfast buffet Good beds Very clean
Review 37:Pets in hotel. Somewhat skimpy in-room offerings.
Review 38:Friendly hosts, very quiet town, proximity to local attractions and highway to reach other areas of Loire, nice courtyard, coffee/tea available in lobby, free parking.
Review 39:One of the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Perfect location, excellent staff and beautiful decor. Very kind and helpful staff. Will stay again & highly recommend you do too.
Review 40:There's really nothing bad to say. The first room we were shown wasn't exactly to our liking (it was beside the stairs, with a smallish window) and when we asked about a change the proprietors were immediately happy to accommodate us in a lovely room facing the courtyard.
Review 41:Very relaxed, refined small hotel steps from the chateau, with a beautiful courtyard.
Review 42:Parking is in a public lot a couple of blocks away; you can unload in front of the hotel. They will store any bags you do not wish to leave in your car.
Review 43:The host was always available and helpful. Spacious room with great bathroom off beautiful garden courtyard. Breakfast had lots of choices. Great central location near Chateau Azay Le Rideau.
Review 44:I found it problematic to park. Had to move a couple of times but the public parking was free.
Review 45:The garden was lovely and everything was very good except parking
Review 46:The breakfast could do with an alternative cereal, choice than just muesli for people with nut allergies. Otherwise an excellent hotel.
Review 47:Excellent location and lovely owners
Review 48:we liked it all very friendly lovely room and facilities and a very pretty garden looked after by the wife of owner / manager great breakfast and very helpfull regarding resturant bookings and local places to see ,full marks we will definitely reccomend to friends of ours.
Review 49:A minor issue was that the tea/coffee making is not available in rooms and although it is available in the pleasant communal guest area it is not available late in the evening or first thing in the morning.
Review 50:Beautiful little family-run boutique hotel in a quiet street but still in the centre of town. Sunny courtyard and good-sized, well-furnished room with a small deck. Owner very friendly and welcoming.
Review 51:The Wifi signal in our room was lacking but I didn't mind. The shower had great pressure but it caused the entire floor to be covered in water.
Review 52:Azay-le-Rideau is an absolutely gorgeous town. Hotel Biencourt deserves another star. Unfortunately, we slept through breakfast so we missed it. The bathroom is completely modern with excellent water pressure in the shower. We slept like babies because it was so quiet and dark. The gardens outside our room were beautiful and very relaxing.
Review 53:a small table, a kettle and cups in the room would be a plus.
Review 54:Location just next door to the castle. The owner was very nice and welcoming. Was very handy to have a place to put bicycles in.
Review 55:No choice of drinks in the room
Review 56:Cleanness, modern bath room, availability of coffee during the day with croissant and "pain au chocolat", breakfast with products from local farms, very efficient WIFI, calm, balcony, very friendly personnel
Review 57:The hotel was comfortable, clean and modern and of modest size. Great location with only a short walk to the Cheateau and fine restaurants. The staff was lovely. The Breakfast was exceptional with lots of healthy choices. Liked the church bells but wished they started about an hour later!
Review 58:Excellent location, beautiful garden courtyard. You can buy a bottle of wine from the shop opposite and put it in the fridge at the hotel. The staff were very helpful.
Review 59:Comfortable, quiet room at the back, an upstairs room overlooking the courtyard (the ones at the bottom of the stairs must be noisy!), & good buffet breakfast. The hotel is on the pedestrianised road leading to the gates of the chateau, but you can take your car to the front of the hotel to unload, following which the staff will suggest which of the nearby free car parks is best for your stay. There are plenty of eating places within very easy walking distance.
Review 60:The hotel's location is on a lovely quiet street. Although close to the chateau, the hotel and the area did not feel "touristy", which was great. Our room was cozy, comfortable and very clean. The breakfast served downstairs was just what we needed to start the day.
Review 61:Well located to explore the highlights of the medieval city by foot. Large comfortable room, lovely garden area, excellent breakfast selection. Secure storage for our bicycles.
Review 62:Nothing I didn't really like.
Review 63:We arrived late at night and the owner came out to the street to help us find the hotel as it was a little tricky to find at first. He was so courteous to provide information about the surrounding area that late in the evening and provided an excellent recommendation for a late dinner. The hotel is spotless, chic, well decorated with a welcoming courtyard between the two small buildings. Breakfast was simple but delicious with organic and local foods. Bathrooms were the best I saw in all hotel rooms (7) I stayed at in the countryside. I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting the chateau as it is literally less than a minute to walk to.
Review 64:No negatives at all, it's perfection!
Review 65:Everything about this hotel is amazing! However, first and foremost we would like to mention the proprietors. They are lovely people: kind, attentive, helpful, understanding and extremely courteous who work hard to make this hotel a beautiful, welcoming place to stay. It's spotlessly clean, furnished tastefully, the showers are particularly good. It's quiet(helped by the thick walls in the old property) and so peaceful. The breakfast is delicious, local produce. We all loved our stay at Hotel de Biencourt and we will definitely be making a return visit.
Review 66:Parking was in a public car park. That is one of the faults with booking .com. as you don't get the actual details until you've booked. Check Google earth and make sure. I'm touring with a classic car so prefer parking at hotel. Saying that,I had no problems, only had to move for the Wednesday market
Review 67:The service was excellent. The owner does everything he can so your stay is great
Review 68:It's impossible to dislike anything!
Review 69:Everything! The calm atmosphere, a courtyard to sit in ( and have a bottle of wine bought from the wine shop opposite - the owner provides glasses), a friendly and helpful owner, good rooms. All at a good price! Public parking within 100 yards. Not to be missed. Virtually perfect!
Review 70:No car park, you have to park in the public car parks a few minutes' walk away. But a minor inconvenience really.
Review 71:Lovely little hotel down a cobbled street, very close to the chateau. Wonderful service - I was 7 months pregnant, we arrived in the pouring rain, unloaded the bags (and toddler) and my husband went to park the car. The concierge wouldn't let me carry a thing to the room, insisted on doing it all for me. Much more attentive than I would expect from a B&B. Generally thoughtful service, clean rooms, character and a great location.
Review 72:Sitting in the sunny inner courtyard with some delicious local snacks and a bottle of wine was one of the highlights of my trip to France. The Biencourt and Azay-le-Rideau in general are wonderful places from which to bicycle. The proprietor was very unassuming but so helpful: he even took my eyeglasses to be repaired!
Review 73:The attick room head space was limited.
Review 74:Perfect location for our short sightseeing stay. This boutique hotel was smart as well as quirky. We loved it!
Review 75:100 eur including breakfast is rather high.
Review 76:Very near the Castle and central location to Restaurants. Clean. Outdoorterrace and indoor reading lounge. Modern room & bathroom with goodand large shower. Good breakfast with large assortment (E.G. cheese andsousages).
Review 77:Incredibly nice and helpful staff who booked 12 of us a fantastic restaurant for the first night. Fantastic rooms with lovely bathrooms. Delicious breakfast. A few steps from the lovely chateau.
Review 78:Courtyard area was a bit too communal, people would park themselves right outside the windows of our rooms, made for sleeping with the windows open for air difficult
Review 79:Location in town (after we got the car parked)
Review 80:Breakfast wasn't included in the price - but this was clear beforehand. There's better value to be had at the Les Halles cafe, 2 minutes walk away.
Review 81:Friendly and flexible staff, they even posted our coats to us when we left them behind! Ground floor storage for suitcases which we didn't need to take to our rooms. Quiet rooms, very comfortable. Felt very at home.
Review 82:Hot in the attic ! Website slightly misleading with the photo of the hotel
Review 83:Polite & helpful staff Cleanliness & standards of the rooms Lovely breakfast
Review 84:We had a room on the upper floor so maybe they're smaller than the others, but I think there's not enough room to put 1 large suitcase (luckily, we only had two small bags) but this is just a detail, this hotel is a must go!
Review 85:cosy room, great breakfast, perfect location, great rain shower
Review 86:We booked a garage for our two motorcycles months in advance. On arrival we were told the garage wasnt available and we could park on a nearby hotel car park. The owner did give us a lift to and from to collect but it wasnt ideal and not very safe/secure parking.
Review 87:Lovely Hotel in the centre of town and very near the Chateau. Our room although in the attic was very modern and clean, the shower was fantastic. Staff recommended an excellent restaurant 'Bistro des Grottes' which was only a couple of minutes walk.
Review 88:There was nothing we did not like. The hotel was fabulous.
Review 89:Everything was fantastic. A gorgeous hotel we will tell all our friends about and we hope to visit again.
Review 90:Absolutely nothing.
Review 91:Everything

Review 107:Fabulous location in centre of town, a few steps from Chateaux. Beautiful building, with lovely courtyard to relax in. Very large, comfortable room.
Review 108:Room was a bit too warm, but a fan was available.
Review 109:The relaxation factor of the place. So laid back and holiday-like.
Review 110:Beautiful hotel. Very much enjoyed out stay.
Review 111:No air conditioning on a very hot night
Review 112:Good location, pretty site. Excellent staff.
