Reviews for Domitys Les Falaises Blanches

Review 1:Very quiet, roomy. Bedroom separate from living area. Need an auto for sight seeing. However, large box store with groceries is within walking distance.

Review 2:This is a retirement complex so a little deserted at night and the immediate surroundings are quite stark on foot but seem safe enough.

Review 3:Comfortable, clean and spacious apartment, all the basics for simple meals and a bit of relaxation. Decent wi-fi. Small swimming pool. Easy (15 minute) walk into town centre and a massive supermarket opposite for supplies. Recommended as an alternative to your usual types of available accommodation.

Review 4:Kitchen needed more crockery and cutlery My wife could not sit and eat breakfast at the tables in the cafe area as there were no chairs without arms, and they hurt her hips.

Review 5:Cleanliness Space in flat. Storage space. Kitchen Secure parking Proximity to town centre and supermarket Reception staffed for about 12 hours a day

Review 6:Everything was great.

Review 7:Spacious, modern, quiet and clean with excellent facilities and lovely, helpful staff. It was great to have a simple kitchen and several TV stations in English. Right next door to an enormous supermarket with an excellent range of pre prepared foods . Good access to town and free parking.Would have liked to stay longer.

Review 8:Absolutely nothing!

Review 9:Security is excellent, staff were excellent and location was also excellent with a Hugh supermarket right beside us.Couldnt get over the place!! So good we are going back again!

Review 10:We had a great time and only wished we'd stayed longer.

Review 11:Great location, quiet with secure parking and walking distance to Bayeux. Good base for exploring the beaches and the history in this area Excellent facilities, spacious apartment and welcoming staff. They were great with our dog.

Review 12:We arrived after 9 PM and the receptionist, who did not speak English, was very cheerful and welcoming. She took us to our suite and demonstrated how everything worked. The super-market just across the street is excellent. The location is well-situated for day trips to all the Normandy sites. In hindsight, we should have planned more than two nights at Domitys.

Review 13:Security was great but you need to remember your key fob to avoid being locked out of the main building after 8pm.

Review 14:We loved it. The swimming pool was great and the location was ideal for self catering - across the road from a major supermarket and a comfortable walk into the centre. The accommodation was excellent, spacious with very comfy beds and an excellent shower.

Review 15:No real ambiance as a hotel and think it should be clearer that this is a senior's residential home with a few excess rooms rented as holiday apartments.

Review 16:Easy parking and functional apartment.

Review 17:One must ask questions since Domitys staff are not fluent in English. For example, ask for wifi access, make sure you understand heat controls in the room and place your towels in right area for replacement. You must assert your needs, for example, we ran out of toilet paper. Cleaning staff can come at different times, but there is a do not disturb/please make up the room door hanger. One also has to be comfortable in senior independent living residence since the apartment is in one. Nice touches--umbrellas in lobby and Normandie cider available at reasonable price.

Review 18:Ideal location for driving to D-Day Beaches. Excellent location for walking into Bayeux since the route is well-marked with sidewalks. Nearby supermarket for inexpensive and well-valued foods and drink. Directions can be confusing but once acclimated, it is quite easy to access. Have a French phrase book handy for communication.

Review 19:We liked all.

Review 20:Large clean room. Great shower. Comfortable bed. Nice kitchenette. Very nice receptionist Carol. Walk to super market. Short drive into town. Quiet.

Review 21:It was about 30 minutes walk to get to the town centre, which is not normally a problem but it was quite rainy. If you've got a car or a bike, it's a perfect base. Taxi fare to train station was not expensive.

Review 22:Great value for money. The room was clean, large and extremely comfortable with lounge area, kitchenette and separate bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful. Supermarket across the road.

Review 23:The location could not have been better, for seeing Bayeux, as well as the Normandy ww2 landing sites; also the countryside, which is peaceful and beautiful. The accommodations and the staff were excellent..Loved it.

Review 24:No wifi in our particular room but that's the only very small grumble... Everything else amazing

Review 25:Fabulous clean apartments and even although an old peoples home everyone very friendly and even has a small indoor pool

Review 26:Must insure check-in by 7 pm but free to come and go once checked in

Review 27:Front desk staff was exception and courteous. They took time to speakEnglish to us.

Review 28:Not quite enough equipment to fully self-cater, but good enough for breakfast and a simple dinner.

Review 29:Very comfortable and quiet apartment around 15 minutes walk from the centre of Bayeux. Great nights sleep, and a nice comfortable lounge, with plenty of parking available.

Review 30:Location within walking distance of centre of Bayeux. Private secure parking. Swimming pool. Free wifi. Lovely spacious modern apartment. Large shopping centre beside it.

Review 31:It was building designed for retired people, so we had no opportunity to lock our main door from inside. So we had two unexpected "visits" directly to the apartment in five days...

Review 32:good, quiet location, large apartment

Review 33:Lovely apartment close to grocery store. Easy walk to major sites including memorial museum of the battle of Normandy and Centre-Ville. Walkable to train station if you are not carrying too much. Would highly recommend!

Review 34:There was no air conditioning which during hot weather may have been an issue but we were there during cooler weather so it was not a problem (but there are lots of windows to open to cool down the apartment).

Review 35:Fantastic base for exploring the Normandy region with a car. We had a fully equipped two bedroom apartment (Pavillon). Very nice kitchen with everything you need and spacious living area. It was about a 15 minute walk into historic Bayeux but down a nice street. There was a large super market next door with a gas station, which was very convenient. Very quiet and comfortable. All windows had blackout shutters.

Review 36:Staff was adequate but could be a little more cordial

Review 37:This is a senior living apartment building that rents out some of their vacant apartments. Very spacious and comfortable. The Leclerc Supermarche is right next door so that you can easily shop and cook in the apartment.

Review 38:Kitchen definitely understocked (almost no pots, pans, bowls, cooking utensils).

Review 39:Lovely, clean, modern facilities. Well lit and comfortable. Bathrobes and slippers provided.

Review 40:Nothing not to like

Review 41:Excellent accommodation good value for money. Lovely cosy dressing gowns. Quiet location but short walk into town would recommend highly

Review 42:We never realised this is a housing for the elderly which permanently lived there. To be fair though, we never read the description when we booked.

Review 43:It's a quiet and clean place. Lots of space for young children to play.

Review 44:We were a group of 5, with 3 staying in a two bedroom apartment and a couple in a 1 bedroom apartment. There were items missing in the apartments - one has hairdryer and TV missing, door lock broken, the other apartment has several light bulbs blown. Also, the complex is a retirement village, obviously there is no non-smoking policy for the long term residents and we could always smell cigarette smell wafting from other apartments. Also, there is absolutely no sound insulation between the rooms in the apartment, you can hear everything from the next room!

Review 45:The apartments are quite spacious, the beds are comfortable. There is plenty of parking in the complex. It is only a 5 minute drive to the centre of Bayeux, and there is a large hypermarket across the road.

Review 46:We found the kitchen poorly equipped. We had to shop on arrival for breakfast items as there was no food at all in the apartment. There were no knives and chopping board, and only a small hob and microwave. This would have made preparing a meal difficult so we ate out. There were no hand towels and only one bath towel for the two of us, and no tea towels.

Review 47:There was easy safe car parking with a supermarket close by. The centre of Bayeux was an easy 15 minutes walk away. The apartment was quiet, clean and roomy with a balcony. The bathrobe, slippers, and toiletries were a nice touch, but we would have preferred little extras in the kitchen.

Review 48:The place is primarily a residence for retired folk with just a few apartments available for casual hire. Unfortunately, if you plan to self cater the basic equipment is woefully inadequate, so best to eat out. The place doesn't really cater for the casual visitor - you're pretty much on your own.

Review 49:Spacious apartment. Good parking and security. Within reasonable walking distance of the centre of Bayeux.

Review 50:Nothing interesting in the nearby location (not a problem if you're driving or willing to walk downtown). Slightly bizarre experience of staying in a multi-residence housing facility where senior citizens live.

Review 51:Modern building and facilities. Practical if you're visiting Normandy by car. Located right next to a big supermarket. Bayeux downtown is a 20 min walk away.

Review 52:Not really a bad experience but if you want any sort of interaction after 8pm, don't go. Everything apart from the lifts are locked down.... perhaps as you would expect in a retirement home.

Review 53:Plenty of space, walking distance to centre, 2 bedrooms (not sure if this is the case in all apartments), balcony.

Review 54:Bed not long enough for 6'7" traveller. Retirement home w/ no overnight staff means checkin after 8 pm is complicated.

Review 55:Very quiet, good parking

Review 56:A bit too far out of town for me. Unfortunately we were overlooking a car park and odd looking building so sitting on balcony was not really pleasant

Review 57:Modern and clean. Lovely pool.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:The whole ambiance from arrival, the quality of the apartment, the features in the Apartment all worked perfectly. After the last few days we valued the silence of the place and the 31C heated pool was pure luxury which after a long drive was so relaxing.

Review 60:need to have at least a couple english tv channels for light entertainment, as satillite tv is provide

Review 61:very clean, pleasant staff with english speaking, location and quiet

Review 62:We wanted to stay longer

Review 63:friendly staff. Large room with extremely comfortable bed. Everything you need. Be aware this is home to independent seniors which is unusual at first but residents were very friendly. Secure complex with space for car park.

Review 64:The apartment was very spacious with a big balcony so we could enjoy the sunshine. We only stayed for one night but wished it could have been longer. This is a fabulous alternative to a hotel and fantastic value.

Review 65:Apartment & facilities are wonderful. Great value for money. Good service from staff but not great. "Wi-Fi is broken" for entire stay. Had to go to lobby to use Wi-Fi, but lights go out at 8pm. Would definitely return.

Review 66:The remote for getting back into the gated community did not work, so we had an anxious experience the first night.

Review 67:We were upgraded to a cottage with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen.

Review 68:WIFI virtually non-existent in the room. No facilities after 8 to get a drink etc. and quite a way from the town to go and get one. Bit strange being in a residential home, great for a business stay but maybe not for a holiday.

Review 69:Very spacious and comfortable apartment, especially for the price. Gated parking at no extra cost.

Review 70:nothing to dislike At all,so much so we're booking again for next year! Tres bien

Review 71:Location perfect, loved Bayeux. The apartment far excelled my expectation. Also maid service too, was alarmed on return first day out to everything tidy bed made and rubbish taken away as was unaware of maid service! Brilliant!!

Review 72:Very little English spoken by staff, however the staff were very helpful in meeting all our needs

Review 73:Secure accommodation, ample parking and large apartment suites to really enjoy yourself and relax. A highlight was a shopping complex right across the street.

Review 74:we loved the immaculate space this place offers. It is quiet, located near to the center of things (but not in the center; we had a car). There is free parking and the building is locked after 7 pm, so we felt very safe.

Review 75:No negatives at all

Review 76:Spotlessly clean , really comfy bed. Fabulous location, next door to supermarket , 5 mins walk to the British cemetery and 10 mins walk in to the centre of bayeux, cannot fault this place , just book it you will not be disappointed .

Review 77:The location is excellent. There is lots of parking, and the town is a short walk away so if you want to walk into town for an evening meal it's really easy to do. The staff were all really friendly, we were shown around all of the facilities and the flat itself was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. We didn't realise the breakfast was included on both nights of our stay but that just added to our overall satisfaction.

Review 78:Wifi isn't as good now that it's centralised. There was a router in each apartment before so the signal was excellent, now poor.

Review 79:It is a superbly appointed and meticulously clean and tidy complex. Everything exudes quality.

Review 80:There was a smell in the area of the kitchen, it was like someone has cooked. This area needed to be ventilate.

Review 81:Very good location. Clean and spacious. Pool available and very clean. peacefull We were very happy and domitys is definetly a place that we recommend for a staying.

Review 82:This was an elderly housing facility that rented out vacant rooms. Not your typical hotel. Staff was helpful, but spoke little English. Never could get wi-fi to work even with staff assistance.

Review 83:Facilities were very clean and modern. Room(s) were very spacious.

Review 84:Location was a little far away from the main attractions.

Review 85:Nice apartment, friendly staff. Comfortable and clean facilities. Large grocery store right across the street.

Review 86:Given it is a retirement home, breakfast was (naturally) quite austere. However, the cleanliness of the place, the excellent facilities and kitchen in the apartments more than made up for that

Review 87:Everything

Review 88:No Wifi for Apple users. We ordered an evening meal on arriving and were told we had to eat it in our apartment - this was not what we were led to believe and would have liked to have used the restaurant.

Review 89:Location is very good for exploring many areas of Normandy, especially D Day beaches. Clean, spacious accommodation and great facilities such as the swimming pool. Secure, free parking. Great supermarket close by.

Review 90:Wi-fi is free but for some strange reason we couldn't quite get to the bottom of, their system cannot cope with Apple. Anything else is fine - just not Apple. My tip - go next door to the big Leclerc hypermarket, pop into the cafeteria, where incidentally two coffees will cost you one euro 80, and you have an excellent free wi-fi service - very fast and very reliable. Or if you feel that is too much you can sit on a bench just outside tgher cafe and receive the same service.

Review 91:The reviews are ecstatic - it can't be that good, we thought. Believe me it is. It's everything that the reviewers say - peaceful, safe, quiet, comfortable, superbly clean with attentive and helpful staff - the adectives keep coming. You have a superb small apartment with large lounge with kitchen area, sizeable bedroom with comfortable bed and extremely large bathroom. There is enough cupboard and drawer space to accommodate the most expansive of travellers. You do need a smattering of French as some staff speak little English and all instructions and information is in French. But then you are in France! If you decide to avail yourself of dinner it is quite an experience. For a start you need to book (even though there were only seven of us in a restaurant that could take well over 100). The three course meal took less than 30 minutes from start to finish and cost 11 euros. If you're looking for ambience and a long lingering meal try one of the many restaurants in Bayeux. Would we stay there again? Definitely. Would we recommend it to others? Certainly.

Review 92:My only niggles were that the wifi didn't work for me although it did for my husband, the bed was harder than i prefer although it was still comfy and the kitchen onky had a microwave and hob with no oven. This wasn't a problem for us but if you were going soecifically to self-cater you would need to know

Review 93:The apartments were lovely - super clean, very comfy and very convenient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The secure parking was excellent and gives you peace of mind overnight.

Review 94:No bad experiences; however, I believe their passwords for internet access is incorrect, but since I don't speak French and staff is limited in English, we were unable to resolve issue of signing on free WiFi. No big deal, I can stay disconnected for 3-days:)

Review 95:Ease of access, location, friendliness of staff, very clean and modern. Good security measures and warm swimming pool.

Review 96:None

Review 97:The apartment was spacious - Large lounge with kitchen/dining area, separate bedroom and good size bathroom/wc - no bath, but good shower. Ample parking. Wifi excellent. 15 minute walk to Bayeux town centre

Review 98:Not close to city centre (20 minute walk) but this is an advantage as well as it was quiet.

Review 99:Clean, affordable, luxury in my opinion. Staff didn't speak great English but really tried with every attempt and with a smile. Toured us through the room and facility. Gated facility so rental car would be safe. Shutters on first floor windows so guaranteed a good sleep and safety. Pool was great. Extremly clean, grocery across teh street so cooked our own food. WiFi was great. Amazing stay, long term if needed!

Review 100:It is a retirement complex for those who are still well enough to live independently but a fabulous place to retire to.

Review 101:Central location. Electric entrance gates so the car and presents were safe. Heated pool was perfect. Brilliant power shower and really comfy mattress. 2 english speaking channels on the TV. Spotlessly clean.

Review 102:No reception at night, but this wasn't an issue for us, pillows could be better, no playground for kids but really it is a retirement complex so as long as you know this then you shouldn't have any issues.

Review 103:Very clean and spacious. The kids loved the pool.Would be a great base for exploring the area, alas we only had one night.

Review 104:NOTHING

Review 105:VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE WITH EXCELLENT FACILITIES WE DIDN';T MIND THE FACT THAT IT IS ALSO HAS APARTMENTS FOR THE ELDERLY BUT SOME PEOPLE MAY HAVE FOUND IT A BIT STRANGE

Review 106:There was little to complain about. The Wifi was very slow and the walls between the rooms within the apartment were thin, but I never heard anything from other apartments. Really, I have to get picky to complain. It rates an A.

Review 107:Everything was delightful. We were pleasantly surprised by the rooms. We weren't expecting a kitchen and the living room was roomy. I really appreciated the robe! We had an unexpectedly lovely time and would definitely stay again.

Review 108:From check in with the lovely receptionist to departure everything was wonderful: space, cleanliness, features, comfortable bed, robe and slippers and the softest towels, wifi, kitchen facilities, closeness to Bayeux (15 minutes walking). A restful place, unusually situated in an older person's facility. Opposite a supermarket - an added bonus

Review 109:The bed was a bit small. I think it was a queen size. The pillows were a little uncomfortable. The WiFi didn't work in our rooms & we had to go into the hallway to get connected. Our friends across the hall from us had no problem.

Review 110:After 12 days in various hotels in France and Germany, we were delighted when we saw our accommodations at Domitys. It was like heaven. The development is only 2 years old, so everything is in pristine condition. Having a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom was wonderful. Everything we wanted to see was very close by or within 1-1/2 hrs. driving distance. This was the bargain of the century. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Review 111:No air conditioning but we really didn't need it during our stay.

Review 112:Clean & quiet place to stretch out in after a long day of site seeing. Had breakfast delivered in the room (kind of like a preordered room service) It was very good at a very good price.

Review 113:If I have to say something negative I can only think of too little kitchen equipment.

Review 114:Perfect situated: walk distance till town, across is a big shopping market, nearby big road to go visit everything of the second worldwar and landing beaches. Perfect clean and comfortable appartment. Very quiet and helpfull personel.

Review 115:I liked everything. Fabulous location, staff helpful, quality accommodation. Prior to my first visit I had read the reviews and was really looking forward to my stay. I was not disappointed. I returned for another week' s stay 3 months later. I requested the same apartment and it was duly given. Warm, comfortable and spotless. I had a fabulous time and I will return!

Review 116:There was a locked fence around the property, and no instructions in advance for how to get in. We stood outside for 15 minutes before someone saw us and let us in. It's on the outskirts of Bayeux. You have to drive into town (10 minutes) and find parking to go to restaurants.

Review 117:You have a whole apartment with bedroom, living room and reasonably equipped kitchen (no dishwasher). Modern furnishings. Very quiet.

Review 118:A bit of a walk from the centre of Bayeux and from the railway station (get a cab from the station).

Review 119:Friendly helpful staff (but register before 6 pm); car parking inside secure fence; very close to British War Cemetery; large suites, large bathrooms, very clean, kitchens, clean, quiet, we had dinner on the premises and it was good (needs to ordered in advance). We would like to stay here again!

Review 120:Furnishings a little sparse (no pictures etc.) No bowls for cereals but otherwise everything we required.

Review 121:Clean, lovely soft towels, quiet. Supermarket over the road. Very comfortable.

Review 122:Well, this place is basically a retirement home, which I didn't realize until I arrived, so sort of a sterile atmosphere and outside the city center, but the apartment was outstanding value for money and very, very nice. The staff were very helpful and the parking was easy.

Review 123:No air conditioning. Not able to get airflow into bedrooms.

Review 124:Two couples stayed in a 2 Bedroom Pavillion, plenty of room to spread out. Large Supermarket next door, very convenient.

Review 125:No negatives

Review 126:Easy 15 minute walk into Bayeux, quiet secure location, friendly helpful staff, computer readily available when wifi in the apartment didn't work (this is a general problem apparently). Easy access to main routes out of Bayeux. Leclerc hypermarket a minute away.

Review 127:Kitchen facilities were lacking in equipment ie 1 teaspoon, no cutting knife, 1 drinking glass. No wifi for the duration of visit although a reason we booked, only one bath towel and robe although 2 guests.

Review 128:Location, clenliness, modern decor, quiet, parking facilities, security

Review 129:All the staff could say was sorry. We travelled from the USA only to arrive with no place to stay. We actually received an email less than a week before stating they were looking forward to our visit!! I was not happy at all! Very disappointed in the service!

Review 130:no soup dishes and not enough cooking pans, for cooking small meals the kitchen equipment is already adequate

Review 131:Our 4 ppl apartment was in the main building and clean, comfortable and quit. We had no problems with parking or any troubles with coming back late from Bayeux. We had three nights. I guess as an traveler you are kept a little bit seperated from the retirement residents - but there are no problems with them in any ways. I think this ist the main thing about this facilitie, if you are ok with this is not an normal hotel situation you have an wonderful stay. The Supermarket is just around the corner and the centre a walk for 15 minutes.

Review 132:There was nothing we didn't like, however as other guests have said it is in a retirement complex and this might not suit all travellers.

Review 133:With a great apartment, 2 bedrooms, lovely fluffy towels, dressing gowns, slippers, toiletries, wifi, well equipped kitchen, separate shower room and toilet it was ideal for our family visit. Great value for money, close to museums etc, opposite a supermarket which is handy when you have children.

Review 134:It's about a 15-minute walk into town, so don't expect the Bayeux Tapestry on your doorstep. And Wi-Fi works best in the lobby, but there are lots of comfortable armchairs there.

Review 135:It's a retirement home which presumably rents out empty rooms, but don't let that put you off. The rooms are huge with good cooking facilities and a hypermarket right next door. Very quiet and secure. Easy parking.

Review 136:If you take a breakfast (which is not necessary), you get a typical French breakfast. Better buy it yourself at the supermarket.

Review 137:Location is good, the sights of Bayeux are within walking distance. Apartment was spacious and quiet at night, it also had a big balcony. A big supermarket (Leclerc) next door, so you can buy food. Swimming pool (I did use) and (small) fitness room (I did not use) included. Parking is secure. Staff speaks French and English. It is also a perfect spot to visit all the D-Day landing beaches.
