Reviews for Best Western Golf Hotel Lacanau

Review 1:There are NO shower curtains in the rooms which is very inconvenient meaning the bathroom floor flooded. No cheese selection on the evening menu.

Review 2:Lovely setting Very comfortable, good facilities, particularly indoor pool, spa and fitness Great wine and food.

Review 3:Difficulty in finding hotel from Velodyssey route. Initial reception staff unwelcoming; poor service in restaurant.

Review 4:Excellent bathroom and bike garage.

Review 5:Didn't like the dogs barking all evening/night. The way the manager took over 40 mins to find us another room only to be told it was single beds then to find that room wasn't even cleaned! Spoilt our evening having to move twice that night. Being told by the manager that we would get a discount due to the disruption only to be offered by the chief cashier a large gentleman in reception on the Saturday morning that we had been offered a 12 euro discount and gave us cash ! What a joke that would have covered one pint of beer ! Very poor discount poor manager /customer service. The breakfast was poor all dry products nothing fresh as you would expect from a 4star hotel. The patio doors make a terrible noise the bathrooms need updating the air conditioning doesn't work well enough. The manager is full of himself. A very disappointing experience and we will never go their again. No staff smiled!

Review 6:The view of the golf course Clean pool

Review 7:The restaurant could be so much better. The food is fine but the formica tables (and the staff washing the floor while we were eating), doesn't encourage you to eat here. With some white table cloths, candles etc it could be stunning.

Review 8:Great situation. Wonderful golf course. Friendly staff.

Review 9:Noisy bedroom. Plastic bathroom which is highly disappointing for a 4*hotel. Poor breakfast with dried ham, eggs, brioche. The ham was so dry it curled up. Viennoiseries overcooked not to say burnt. Staff not welcoming. Find it hard to believe this is a 4* hotel when I stayed in much better 3*, is that due to the facilities only? Restaurant quite disorganised although the lady in charge seems to do her best. Had to wait some time for the meal and to top it all, my dessert was served with the carton lid, not what you expect from a 4*.

Review 10:Location

Review 11:Dining room is not clean. We were woken up two times early in the morning by truck deliveries to the hotel (the truck has a very noisy warning sound when it pulls back): it is a pity, because globally the place is quiet.

Review 12:Nice rooms in good condition. The hotel is located nearby a golf course among pine trees which make the stay very pleasant. We were back there for the fifth time with always the same satisfaction. Staff is kind. Hotel is located far away for Lacanau’s centre (and its crowd), but this means you need a car.

Review 13:When we arrived, the room given to us was beside the noisy carpark & rubbish bins, dark, ugly & was nothing like the advertised rooms. We demanded a refund & finally were given the kind of room advertised (except twin not double which we accepted)

Review 14:Room we eventually got was satisfactory but in need of new balcony & modernising.

Review 15:After advising we would be arriving pretty late we arrived at 1:30 a.m. The guy in the reception didn't find our booking (maybe a fault on booking.com side?). So we were waiting half an houre while he called his manager to find out what to do. The most amazing thing is that the hotel was half empty, so there wasn't any reason to sleep half an hour less instead of solving the issue the next morning. He never find our reservation so we were lucky there was room. At 1:30 by night there's not many alternatives. Of course we paid full fare 175€+breakfast instead of 135€+breakfast that was the last minute fare. Beside this issue; hotel is pretty basic. not what I would expect in a 4 stars one. Small room, extremely small bathroom. As clean as is possible to clean with a carpet in the bathroom. My advice: do not book in advance. If there is room ending July it's better waiting till the last minute to get a better fare.

Review 16:Nice surrounding and landscape. Comgortable bed.

Review 17:I felt they needed to be able to supply power adaptors for guests from overseas to use. They didn't have any on site to offer. There was also no small bar fridge in the room. The menu for dinner was the same every night and not many choices.

Review 18:The location of just out of town was ideal and a lovely setting within the golf resort. The staff were all very willing to help whenever I had a query even though I was talking English and they struggled to understand me sometimes. Some staff did speak, or understand english, so we got there in the end.

Review 19:nothing

Review 20:Quiteness. Terras, enjoying the drinks/ meal while overlooking the course and smelling the pine trees. Hotel, room and bathroom were very comfortable. The (young ) staff was very polite and helpfull. Able to rent a bike.

Review 21:The bathroom was the most ridiculous design - very small. All plastic so sound very noisy when shower was on.No shower curtain so bathroom flooded. Mirror in bedroom unsuitably placed to dry hair. Poor thought.

Review 22:Lovely location in the forest .

Review 23:Sometimes the breakfast items ran out, and were not always replenished in time.

Review 24:More or less everything. Excellent for cycling, with a cabin especially for storing cycles and equipment.

Review 25:Inexperienced staff Poor food quality and quantity served Tiny pool and gym Expensive for what is a 3-star in thruth

Review 26:Setting in the woods Golf courses for those interested Not far form the coast

Review 27:Three-star service in a four-star place at five-star pay, that is what you get. Staff appears superficially helpful yet ineffective. Whether it's the breakfast service or the sporting facilities: A bigger effort is needed to make you feel welcome as a guest.

Review 28:Perfectly located in a calm, protecting pinewood. Close to Lacanau Océan, yet feeling like in a hideaway. Appropriate cuisine for dining.

Review 29:everything. dirty carpets. smelly room. bathroom is a plastic "pod" like a caravan. private balcony consisted of a few planks of wood suspended over mud with two broken plastic chairs alongside the swimming pool. scruffy furniture. well worn. not worth a visit!!!!

Review 30:- the food was okay - and some decor was rather dated.

Review 31:We liked the views and the location. The pool and gym were nice.

Review 32:Not able to connect to the wifi from my I.pad and no-one was able to help.

Review 33:Nice room, helpful staff and good facilities at the pool/sauna.

Review 34:quiet

Review 35:Noisy balcony doors , specially when you've just got baby asleep .

Review 36:Location was beautiful .

Review 37:The smell of smoke in the room

Review 38:No working airco. Outdated facilities

Review 39:Attractive location; quiet; peaceful.

Review 40:The big guy in the reception, unfriendly.

Review 41:Quite far to beach or lake - car wouldbe necessary.

Review 42:Pool, breakfast, comfortable and clean rooms.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:Everything was perfect from staff to facilities and room

Review 45:Beautiful setting in the woods looking out over the golf course

Review 46:Staff not very welcoming

Review 47:Really convenient to get in and out if Lacanau l'ocean and to join cycle paths to/from the area

Review 48:breakfast very poor for 12 euros each

Review 49:pool room clean and tidy balcony over looking pool within lovely setting

Review 50:slightly dated reception area.

Review 51:staff very friendly and accommodating, good location very quiet and relaxing.

Review 52:No mini bar/nespresso like other Best Westerns Gym too small

Review 53:Very friendly staff Quiet location but near sea/lakes

Review 54:A good place to stay if you play golf

Review 55:It was all great.

Review 56:A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the golf course with gorgeous pine trees. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Review 57:NO food available!!! Most odd!! nothing to eat for 3 days in a row, after breakfast. Never any lunch or snack available. Hotel is sooo far from nearest shops and restaurants that I worry you could die of starvation!!!

Review 58:Clean and comfortable. Really friendly staff.

Review 59:The staff in this hotel is to a large extent unprofessional (and mostly consist of young - untrained - personell). While dishes in the restaurant remain dirty (despite several complaints from our side) the staff keeps on telling you every morning that you should sit at a particular part in the restaurant only (so that you do not disturb them in preparing the restaurant for dinner). Some of the furniture at the pool has not been cleaned and was so dirty that you couldn't use it. The usual response by staff members to deficiencies like that is that they are sorry and will report (but nothing changes). We quit our stay at the hotel early.

Review 60:Well located at a nice golf course

Review 61:Good choice at breakfast, but cooked dishes dried up and inedible. Noeffort made to replenish despite three staff on hand in open-to-viewkitchen. Probably much better value to have light breakfast atneighbouring club house. Dinner menu did not attract us.

Review 62:Very comfortable rooms, and well-equiped. Setting delightful, greatgolf, and just a short drive to the coastal resort with a large choiceof restaurants.

Review 63:Wooden construction with very small hotel rooms. Monobloc plasticbathroom, toilet and sink not draining well. Very noisy sliding door tothe bathroom, waking up all neighbours. Very poor soundproofing.Overrated with three stars, overpriced at €100/night. Service inrestaurant very slow, we walked out before we got the menu.

Review 64:The quiet, although roughly disturbed by a party on the restaurant'sterrace on Saturday night.

Review 65:The restaurant was closed and so we had to walk some distance for dinner after cycling many miles.

Review 66:Dated decor. Room seemed old and not too clean. Bit like a youth hostel! Not worth the price.

Review 67:balcony and view. Swimming pool.

Review 68:Wrong information regarding pre-payment resulted in no breakfast although I paid for it. Very little space for 3 persons

Review 69:Dinner was overpriced Room was a bit small

Review 70:Location was perfect

Review 71:The location was remote from anything and the in house bar and restaurant were rubbish

Review 72:Bath towels very small and thin.

Review 73:Right on the course. Good spa facilities and pool.

Review 74:Fabulous quite location. Good food in lovely restaurant terrace overlooking course.

Review 75:excellent for a break especially if you play golf

Review 76:Very friendly hotel, amazing gold course close to the sea, would love to go back

Review 77:Nice welcome (back), good food in simple but honest way.

Review 78:We went to play golf and the rooms overlook the course
