Reviews for VIK Hotel San Antonio

Review 1:Accommodation , food , facilities and entertainment was just perfect. The staff were so mannerly and helpful at all times. We will be back again for sure

Review 2:having to hire the fridge was a bit of a black mark . Along with having to hire a kettle at 28 euros for 5 days all thou you are supplied with tea and coffee included.

Review 3:breakfast excellant room a little small but beautiful views of the pool and the sea.would stay again.was a safe in room too for hire not bad at 11 euros.

Review 4:Dinner could have been better, although plenty of it, it was not good quality and not hot, there was a microwave to heat the food up. Gala dinner was disappointing. If you wanted a kettle in your room you had to pay extra, the same with the safe. Also we paid extra for the fridge, although they gave you plenty of water. These are extras that should come free with the room. On Xmas day there was a buffet around the pool but it was poor quality.

Review 5:The staff were excellent, very pleasant and helpful. The location is very good, bus stops outside hotel. Right on beach. Room was good.Breakfast was very good.Plenty of variety.

Review 6:The entertainment in bar could be a lot better .Headed off most nights to other pubs.Bar very expensive and your cocktails a joke.

Review 7:The company we brought with us and meeting more there.

Review 8:The food was poor standard always cold had to use microwave to warm it up also no shorts policy for dinner is ridiculous plus hotel a bit dated

Review 9:Hotel grounds and location

Review 10:NOT A BAD EXPERIENCE BUT THE ROOM WITH TWIN BEDS WAS VERY CRAMPED. WE STAYED A WEEK BUT IF IT WAS LONGER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DREADFUL. WHEN SOMEONE SITTING AT DRESSING TABLE THE WAY WAS BLOCKED AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OVER BEDS TO GET TO BALCONY! OR THE PERSON WOULD HAVE TO GET UP AND MOVE THE CHAIR!

Review 11:LIKED LOCATION. LIKED SOUTH FACING SEA VIEW OF BEDROOM

Review 12:Fridge only available by key from reception and extra cost.also no facilities to make a cup of tea in the room

Review 13:Convenient to sea, restaurants and shops. Entertainment in hotel very good.

Review 14:Mediocre food, in a mediocre hotel with rundown sunbeds, bad WiFi, a pricetag on all usual services, and a management with a million rules for the guests. They could try hospitality, service and respect for the guests....

Review 15:Almost on the beach

Review 16:The fact that you had to "rent" a kettle and fridge,

Review 17:Excellent hotel, suited older couple, went half board great value, they didn't need to leave hotel, all Facilities were close by. This hotel suited an older couple with some mobility issues, they had a wonderful week there. Also the taxi rank outside the hotel was really welcome

Review 18:We found the restraunt serving staff very rude, very stuffy and to be honest would not stay ther again. It is like a retirement home, mostly elderly people staying there, not that there is anything worng with that.We won't be suitable for another few years.

Review 19:Beach location ,the higher pool and the food

Review 20:Very nice hotel great food and leisure facilities Had a problem with first room but was solved very quickly and given another room Would return if there was a special price

Review 21:Only two things to point out. 1) there are not enough sun loungers around the pool - and there can't be any more due to the lack of extra space needed.2) midday meal area needs more room/tables - however it's no fault of the Restaurant Manager or the staff who are all so helpful. (Once again lack of space is the issue).

Review 22:This Hotel tries it's best to take care of its customers and that's very evident from your arrival to the end of your holiday. The Hotel is only a short walk to the main shops/Restaurant's/and Bars. The Hotel provides the very best of evening entertainment first class and you can dance - we did!!. It's location is perfect - quiet and very relaxing. The Manager is very friendly and came amongst the visitors personally to ask about their holiday - nice touch - well done Vik Hotels.

Review 23:The décor was a bit dated and worn.

Review 24:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Facilities were well kept and the location is perfect. Close to shops & restaurants and a wonderful beach.

Review 25:People carried on reserving their sunbeds despite the notices around the hotel and then didn't use them

Review 26:Fantastic friendly and efficient reception staff that greeted you when you arrived and nothing was too much for them Food selection was great

Review 27:Pretty far from everything in Puerto del Carmen. The entertaiment in the hotel can be considered ok only if you are 60+. The pool lounge chairs were occupied for days because the "youngsters" have no sleep and put their towels at 7 in the morning. Except for parking everything else is an extra and charged - safe, fridge, even water at dinner. The waiters at the dinner are no good, check your bill before signing it.

Review 28:On the beach, we could hear the waves. Parking was always available and free of charge. Partial see view.

Review 29:I had an unfortunate accident of the sun beds where a leg of the chair broke and brought me crashing down onto the tiles which left me with a very painful left hip and leg. The hotel were not a caring as I thought they might have been although I did not wish to see a doctor.

Review 30:the staff are wonderful and very friendly. Dagmar and Martina at reception are brilliant. Marcial and Antonio in the restaurant are fantastic in the way they looked after us.

Review 31:The meals are "all-you-can-eat", which is great, but there was no clear explanation of the ingredients of the dishes. As a vegan, I had no troubles finding something to eat anyways, but had a very hard time understanding what I could eat and what I couldn't (and the staff was not helpful at all for this matter).

Review 32:Great location: the hotel has direct access from the pool to the beach. The town of Puerto del Carmen is the biggest tourist centre of the island and has therefore many services. The hotel is big but quiet.

Review 33:Hotel isnt up to 4 star standard. Alot of additional costs such as renting safe, fridge which wasnt stated in booking. Wifi service poor.

Review 34:Pool & Close to local facilities

Review 35:All the staff were very friendly and helpful. One really good feature, was being offered the use of a room to shower and freshen up, owing to a late flight.

Review 36:Hotel's location was ideal - very central but also right beside the beach. You can actually walk from the pool area to the beach and back without any problem. Hotel room and hotel in general was clean and organised. Staff were all extremely kind and helpful. Food in the restaurant was great with a huge variety for different diets.

Review 37:I thought most of the meats were undercooked/raw. Diners who prefer well done meat were not catered for. Otherwise, there was good variety in starts/main courses and desserts were delicious.

Review 38:Very comfortable and clean. Lovely friendly staff, especially the dining room staff. Lovely poolside areas.

Review 39:Would have liked a kettle in the room.

Review 40:Location is excellent. Quiet but still on the edge of the commercial town which is only a 5 minute walk away. Staff very friendly.

Review 41:Upper pool - VERY salty Some sun loungers & both pool tables well past their replacement date. Little obvious advantage in trading-up to a Superior Room Some areas - public toilets, though spotlessly clean, in need of refurbishment. Pool side sun loungers ridiculously crowded whilst large areas around the tennis courts, for example, are seldom visited by more than a handful of guests.

Review 42:Location - a bracing walk away from where Puerto del Carmen gets 'tacky' Food - enough to satisfy most tastes Activities - well organised, very competitive and light-hearted. Entertainment - several excellent live shows with space for audience participation. Pools - clean and well maintained.

Review 43:This was our third time to the hotel but no-one welcomed us back. There was a smell in our bathroom, the shower curtain was ripped at the top in 3 places, and the curtain in the bedroom did not hang properly.

Review 44:The staff in the Restaurant, especially the Manager Dominique Matel, was absolutely lovely and the food was gorgeous

Review 45:Problem with sun loungers at pool. While we didn't like doing it, because of the behaviour of others we were forced to put towels on beds early even if we were going for a walk and had to leave beds empty for hours. Also head waiter on week evenings could have smiled. He was surly and gave all his attention to one particular couple while scowling/grunting/ignoring others. When he wasn't there Sat/sun atmosphere was more relaxed.

Review 46:Congenial company with other guests. Entertainment good.

Review 47:At dinner plates for food were not cleaned properly, this is probably because of high volume .This is still not acceptable in four star property

Review 48:Location as is right on the beach front

Review 49:Some of the older staff were not pleasant or helpfull. Was charged morethan quoted on booking .com but was refunded when we questioned them.Had to pay €40 for 2 plates of salad on day of checkout eventhough webooked half board and got no food on day of arrival

Review 50:Almost everything

Review 51:Restaurant manager was to managerial, not a pleasant guy. Having to pay for fridge in room was not very welcoming

Review 52:Almost all staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 53:This is constuctive criticism, but perhaps the bedrooms could do with some refurbishments

Review 54:We were staying half board, I would rate the food as excellent, staff were friendly & helpful.

Review 55:The food was not very good. They charged extra for use of the fridge and the safe. You also had to pay €28 a week for tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 56:Very pretty hotel with lovely views.

Review 57:Rooms were very dated. Carpet, curtains, upholstery need to be modernised.

Review 58:Loved the pool area, nicest iv ever stayed in. First time staying in a place in which there was no rush to get sunbeds in the morning - plenty available. Loved the aqua aerobics!

Review 59:I did not like having to ask for a warm sunny room again this time, in a winter-time holiday. Another guest had a bad cold and was most uncomfortable in the small cold dark room they had. I think the Manager should interact more with the guests.

Review 60:I have stayed in the San Antonio three times, which means I am always happy to go back there.

Review 61:No I had no bad experience. But I found it very expensive to pay €12 if wanted to get a bottle of water from the fridge. and for a 4star hotels were very worn.

Review 62:The location was very central, and the floor shows were quite good. Food was varied and good.

Review 63:the hotel was just what we wanted although we just had B&B if the evening meal was as good as the breakfast there would be no complaints from us. we had a short break to surprise a good friend on his birthday and really used the hotel as a base but the facilities were really good

Review 64:Do not like the fact that they charge €12 per week for the use of a fridge that is already in the room. And also the fact that a water is €2.50 with lunch or dinner but is free with breakfast. Hotel is not cheap so why be that mean to charge for these items.

Review 65:Excellent staff, good breakfast. Clean rooms Great location

Review 66:Rooms very small and quite tired. Reception staff either very good or very bad. I had stated in the appropriate place on booking.com site that we wouldn't require a child's bed and also asked for a double bed yet on arrival the receptionist was shocked to find we had no child ( we had booked a room for 2 adults and one child as that was the only option left on booking.com ) She advised she would have the child's bed removed but I think she sent us to a different room as it was very small and wouldn't have had any space for a third bed. Also we were given two single beds and when I pointed out the requests I had made for a double bed and no need for child's bed she told me that they wouldn't have spotted that on our booking !...they would have simply worked off the headline booking for a room for 2 adults and 1 child !!! Whats the point in having somewhere to make requests etc if they don't read them anyway. That issue and (some)reception staff aside the hotel is actually well placed and quite well run but the rooms are a tired - I was shown a refurbished room and they had just swapped the carpet for a cheap wooden laminate flooring. I guess I'm saying I wouldn't rush back.

Review 67:Food and waiting staff were excellent. Great variety of food and great breakfasts with friendly helpful waiting staff. Pool areas are excellent.

Review 68:I only stayed for one week but i wish it was for two weeks the hotel is in a great place only 5 min walk from the shops and the beech is right on the door step of the hotel very clean rooms think the food could be better every day

Review 69:I did think customers should be allowed at least one glass of water with their evening meal, didn't like having to pay for water sorry that really rankled me in a 4 star hotel. Also neither tea or coffee provided, without shelling out more cash, its the first time ever I paid for water and tea!!! These can be bought so cheap in SPAR and after all I paid the rate of almost 100 euros per night. its the principle tea and coffee and water, would be good if you cannot stretch to a glass of wine.

Review 70:Music every night of one sort or other, meeting the owner and having the drinks reception hosted by him on Thurs 5th.Swimming pools and all were clean

Review 71:The Weather - bit windy and chilly - Hotel Fab....

Review 72:Every need catered for. The most important thing you need on holiday is. Friendly Staff, a comfortable bed, restful location, good food, and entertainment. Vik San Antonio has it all. !! ~~Will Return...

Review 73:the gym equipment is very old and not working well; the sauna and steam room are not on at all times. the steam room does not work well and is very small. for price of hotel we were unhappy with paying extra for safe hire;robe hire. also the fridge hire is extra. think it would be good if these were not charged for. also on morning of departure there was only coffee available, no rolls or fruit.

Review 74:everything about the hotel really apart from the things we did not like or were not happy with

Review 75:No lift from reception to 1st floor lift to carry luggage

Review 76:Staff all appeared to be working in such a happy environment which relected in their courtesy delivered to their clients

Review 77:I believe it is ridiculous to be charged for the use of a fridge in the bedroom in a 4 star hotel. The dining area is in need of refurbishment.

Review 78:Location and quietness at night which guaranteed a going nights sleep. The salt water heated pool.

Review 79:room on ground floor but had to walk up and down granite steps from ground floor reception .sun beds in veranda covered with splashes of paint.

Review 80:great location.all hotel clients very friendly .staff great .sports co ordinator excellent .

Review 81:nothing

Review 82:staff were very good at every aspect .the cleaning staff were very friendly and did a great job.the bar staf in the shows at night were very good and very friendly and efficient . service was first class. thank you all.

Review 83:Internet in our room was very poor. Perhaps the dining room needs to be enlarged, but I suppose most people want an extra hour in bed!

Review 84:Our fourth visit and still it pleases us. Lovely friendly staff, great breakfast and good choice at dinner.entertainment at night and activities during the day to suit all

Review 85:seating in the bar after diner was a bit of challenge but the hotel was very busy as it was holiday time.

Review 86:excellent new years eve gala, food and fireworks was superb.we had a lovely stay at the San Antonio, the staff were friendly and helpful.our room had fantastic views out to sea and was quietest hotel room we have stopped in.

Review 87:Sometimes the choice of menu was not as varied every night. Also food could be a lot hotter.

Review 88:Friendliness and attention of staff. Rooms cleaned every day.

Review 89:The hotel was conveniently located in puerto Del Carmen with the Beach at the back of the hotel. The staff were polite & friendly,The breakfast and dinner were buffet style with plenty of variety, the breakfast was especially good. The room was as expected for its 4 star rating, however, the sea view was a corner view not the full sea view we expected. The entertainment was very good both the resident duo and the cabaret acts.We would certainly go back'

Review 90:Paying extra for fridge and safe.

Review 91:Location Cleanliness Friendly efficient staff. Good food selection. Dress code for dinner. Evening entertainment.

Review 92:Although the entertainment was generally very good, our party all agreed the resident duo were a little weak and we were fed up with acrobatics/magicians.

Review 93:The location is excellent, the food is very good but could be hotter for our taste.

Review 94:Zero

Review 95:Ambience location staff, food bedroom getting the accommodation I requested this was my 20th trip to Lanzerote and although I spent many happy evenings in the S. A. I had never stayed there so I am looking forward to returning, hopefully in Spring2015

Review 96:One or two of the ladies at reception were a bit of handed but must of the staff were very friendly. Having to pay for the use of the fridge and safe in the room I though was a bit much

Review 97:Breakfast was excellent and room was fine. Hotel situated in a very good area

Review 98:We had a room on the corner of the building which was large, but the balcony couldn't accommodate both of us standing at the same time as it felt crunched in between two wings!

Review 99:Staff were very friendly, the place is exceptionally well maintained, it's on the beach and the choice of pools is really wonderful. A great place to relax and be pampered for a week or so.

Review 100:Noises from rooms overhead quite audible. Two different settings for wi fi and had to be re entered daily paid extra for sea view and was initially offered partial sea view and staff initially tried to tell me that was the only type of seaview Some of the rooms require quiet a baggage haul after exiting lifts and in some instances require 'lugging' up and down steps. Advertised as eligible for discount green fees at local golf club; this is not so

Review 101:Nothing

Review 102:We stayed here for my 50th birthday & said we would return for my 60th hopefully will return for my 70th. Excellent hotel & staff really enjoyed our holiday .

Review 103:Most bar staff seemed like they have doing that work too long looked really fedup most of the time I would not be inclined to go back I stayed in hotel calibro one night it was a far more enjoyable experence

Review 104:Good and pool area shows in the bar

Review 105:Upper pool deck not cleaned properly. Vegetables only lukewarm, at best.

Review 106:Said by others but it is true that the staff at San Antonio are friendly to a fault and thoroughly professional in their duties. This certainly helps one achieve the primary aim of the holiday of relaxing in a degree of comfort.

Review 107:A lot of english speaking guests yet key staff have very poor englisheventhough some have been there some years now. Access to manager. Bitof a problem with room 1st night but no one could point me to manager.Stardard of food and its variety slightly down this year.poolarea andequipment in need of an upgradealso spa area

Review 108:Friendliness of staff. Friendly atmosphere among fellow guests hotelsideal location on the beach and also immediate access to the prom

Review 109:We found maybe certain staff in reception could have been more helpful also our room was right beside the lifts which meant we didn't get a great nights sleep.

Review 110:Staff in the dining room were very pleasant and helpful. We were there on a bed and breakfast stay, breakfast was outstanding. We would definately consider another stay there.

Review 111:I booked this hotel on line there was no mention that long trousers were compulsory for evening meal. having traveled light with Ryanair I only brought shorts (they were Armani at £120.00 a pair) but no flexibility, They offered me a meal in the room.

Review 112:food location entertainment ambiance

Review 113:The only thing would be a little bit more variety in the evening menus.

Review 114:The staff are very friendly and helpful at the moment you arrive, during our stay and till the time of leaving. The young lady who cleaned our room daily was very good. Snr. Antonio Lopez in the restaurant is excellent, very attentive and great with all the clients. Very friendly to my wife and myself as always, we have stayed at the hotel on about 20+ previous occasions. Expertly run by Snr Martin Cruces (resident director).

Review 115:Whilst there was a locked mini bar in room you could rent it forrefrigerator use only at 12 euros a week (without drinks). If you wanteddrinks from the mini bar it was at a cost of not less than 24 euros. Soiif you didn't want to make use of the drinks in the mini bar you hadto pay out 12 euros for week just for the use of the cooler. This is notfair practice for a hotel management to their customers.

Review 116:Air conditioning in room, however, it was extremely noisy making itdifficult to sleep.

Review 117:One thing was a kettle in the bedroom would have been nice that's all .

Review 118:Pool and the beach were excellent right on your door step . Food was excellent great choice .

Review 119:Eve meal. Staff in restaurant were rude and not friendly. It made it unpleasant to eat there.

Review 120:Breakfast and lunch was amazing. However the eve meal was disappointing and we ate out. The daytime entertainment was great. Reception were very accommodating.

Review 121:Sun beds reserved with towels early morning!!! Just so pathetic

Review 122:Great location, ideal location on the beach, less than 5 minutes walk from the strip. Just had a fabulous relaxing hotel, all our needs were catered for

Review 123:Rooms could do with modernisation Lunch can be same every day

Review 124:Love swimming pool and area never fight for sun beds. Like breakfast and poolside food Like cleanliness of hotel and rooms Close to main restaurants and bars Lovely resort

Review 125:Bar staff were rude and inefficient both at the main bar and the pool bar we were left standing at the bar and ignored by most of the staff on several occasions,it is quite obvious they are not interested in making money for the company. we always seemed to be under a compliment to get a drink.

Review 126:The reception staff was excellent and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent and so were the staff.

Review 127:Rooms are dated Some reception staff are grumpy Buffet menu is repeated too frequently Gym is ill equipped and stuffy

Review 128:Lots of sun beds Great location near beach Lovely breakfast The fabulous Maitre D' in the evening Entertainment programme Aqua aerobics

Review 129:No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Some of the sports events did not take place from the schedule provided.

Review 130:Both sun terraces were fantastic with great views over the sea and there was no problem getting a sunbed. The nightly entertainment was very good and the location of the hotel was brilliant.

Review 131:Good location and very clean food good

Review 132:The staff are totally accommodating friendly and have a good sense of humour.

Review 133:restaurant food very poor & cold

Review 134:lounge & room

Review 135:No bar facility unless the pool bar . No entertainment at all. Very poor breakfast

Review 136:Friendly staff

Review 137:bath took long time to fill and possibly slight whiff from bathwater

Review 138:location food

Review 139:Staff rude and long walk to bedrooms from restaurant

Review 140:Location
