Reviews for Villa Lara Hotel

Review 1:Staff was exceptionally helpful and nice ... especially with Normandy guidance and restaurant suggestions ... rooms were elegant and very comfortable. GREAT view of the cathedral from our room ... just a beautiful hotel experience!!

Review 2:I just don't like the thick comforters. They make me too hot unless it's in the middle of Winter. However, just about all the European hotels have these thick duvets so I guess it's the standard.

Review 3:Location, modern hotel with comfortable rooms.

Review 4:Not applicable

Review 5:Villa Lara is an excellent hotel, very comfortable and well appointed. Most helpful charming staff. Great convenient position in Bayeux and we plan to stay there again for a longer holiday. First class .

Review 6:Beautiful decor. Cosy ambience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Superb location. Close to Bayeux Tapestry and cathedral and main street. But quiet. Really nice bed linen. Wonderful place to relax after a full day of sightseeing.

Review 7:Nothing negative to say whatsoever.

Review 8:Very helpful staff, who tolerated our poor French with encouragement and a smile. Luxurious accommodations and the best breakfast of our trip.

Review 9:Very friendly and helpful staff, a well appointed, spacious room, and a great location. The breakfast was also very good and the parking was an added bonus. Good WiFi was also very popular with my teenage son.

Review 10:The room was beautiful with a stunning view of the cathedral. Although the hotel was virtually brand new it was built and furnished in an elegant old-french style. All the fittings were top quality. The hotel was perfectly placed in the centre of the old town, an easy walk to the tapestry and cathedral.

Review 11:Everything about this stay far exceeded our expectations.. After a stay in Paris., I was not expecting this hotel to have the same amenities... I don't know where to begin.,, from the moment we walked in and met Francois, we knew we were in for a special stay.. I would truly be grasping to find something I thought needed improvement ., best staff, best bed , best shower , best breakfast.,,

Review 12:The bed, extra large was very uncomfortable, caused us to feel as though we were each rolling off it. The Internet was intermittent, would disconnect while using it and needs simplifying to get on and stay on.

Review 13:We loved the breakfast and location.

Review 14:Breakfast was mediocre for the price but that is expected for high end hotels

Review 15:Very beautiful hotels, big rooms, very attentive staff. Loved everything.

Review 16:The hotel is in a quiet spot in the centre of the town, just a few minutes walk to the cathedral. Their rooms were very well appointed and spotless. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. I would happily recommend this hotel.

Review 17:The staff was welcoming and extremely helpful. They got us umbrella for the rain;helped us make two phone calls. assisted with luggage ...met our every need! Beautiful view of the cathedral ad the Saturday night light extravaganza.

Review 18:Felt breakfast was over priced

Review 19:Staff were great, very pleasant and helpful, great language skills. Excellent location and good to have parking as well.

Review 20:Centrally located, two blocks from the Tapestry Museum. Normandy Beach tour picked us up at the hotel lobby, friendly, informative staff all of whom spoke very good English.

Review 21:They were expecting us, check in was a breeze, parking was easy, staff was efficient and pleasant, room was great, free wi-fi was easy to access, walking distance to town and sites, lobby bar was cozy. Was a great experience all around!

Review 22:I honestly can't say enough about this property! It was fabulous! The staff was friendly and the service was superb! The room was gorgeous! When we opened the door, I really felt like I was in the booking.com commercial thinking booking.yeah! It was really fantastic. We had a gorgeous view of the church. The location was centrally located. This was a highlight of our accommodations in Europe! I wanted to stay an additional night I loved it so much!

Review 23:The only thing I didn't like was that I had to leave.

Review 24:The decor was beautiful and quirky. A boutique hotel that did not miss a beat. The reception hostess couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Great location. Beautiful breakfast.

Review 25:Not too big, not too small. Room was great size but still cozy. Bar/lounge area was bright and cheery but still intimate and sophisticated. Wish we were staying longer!

Review 26:Stayed for four days in Bayeux at the Hotel Lara. The hotel is probably one of the best in France. Discrete luxury with owner and staff dedicated to detail. It was delightful and a great pleasure to stay at the hotel, every facility is excellent. The staff are incredibly dedicated to ensuring your stay is a pleasure and forever memorable, small touches such remembering your name make the hotel a delight.

Review 27:Breakfast was too expensive at 22 euros per person and there wasn't a cheaper choice available

Review 28:The location in Bayeux was very central but quiet and the staff were excellent.

Review 29:We loved everything about our stay from start to finish. The staff could not have been more attentive. The location of the hotel is perfect. So many delicious restaurants within walking distance.

Review 30:Lots to see and do. Perfect central but quiet location. All staff are a credit to the owners. The view from my bedroom window meant the curtains were rarely closed particularly at night with the Cathedral lit up - simply glorious.

Review 31:The hotel was beyond lovely. Just what you would expect of a small hotel in Normandie. The rooms were beautiful, staff amazing and breakfast delicious.

Review 32:More tea bags, coffee and milk could have been provided in the room. 1 tea bag was poor. Had to ask.

Review 33:Peaceful, yet in the centre of the town. Secure car parking. Very helpful staff

Review 34:Should have stayed more nights

Review 35:This is the standard for the perfect hotel. Beautifully appointed and superb hospitality. We truly felt that our hosts wanted to impress us from first entry in the lobby to flawless checkout...and they succeeded. I cannot say one thing could be improved. Just perfect.

Review 36:The staff was attentive, knowledgable, helpful and eager to make sure we had a great experience. The guest room and bathroom were quite large. Loved this hotel.

Review 37:The Hotel Friendly Staff Great morning breakfast Attention to detail of the staff Beautiful Room!!! We loved our stay and it is one of the best places to stay when touring the sites of Normandy. All local sites are withing walking distance. The concierge staff are all so friendly and accommodating as we were travelling with a five year old and a baby. The corner room was so spacious and so beautifully decorated. I can't wait to stay there again!

Review 38:Directions to hotel might be clearer but if you know to head for Winston Churchill which is signed and next door then should find it reasonably easily. Otherwise apart from slightly pricey breakfast ( but plenty of local venues if you prefer to eat out) its a great find .

Review 39:Location is very central with secure free parking at hotel. Can leave the car and walk into town and local restaurants. Staff all excellent and even standard room had a lovely bed and great shower and bath. Downstairs bar was friendly in evening and breakfast was always good

Review 40:Weakness of Wi-Fi, although hotel staff said the cable company was doing extensive work in the area that might have caused the problems.

Review 41:Excellent accommodation. Who is the manufacturer of the frame for the wall-mounted TV? Nice touch!

Review 42:wished there were lower priced breakfast options and dinner service available . After a day of touring I would have loved to dine right there

Review 43:Any and all needs , questions or desires were easily and graciously satisfied . The ambiance and decor made us want to spend time just being there ..despite the lovely town outside . A warm inviting fireplace and a glass of wine ... magnifique!

Review 44:Everything was perfect - I have no complaints whatsoever!

Review 45:The hotel's location was perfect! It was next to the Cathedral, the Tapestry Museum and a block away from the Main Street & restaurants. The service was excellent & the room fabulous. It was also only a 10 minute walk to the train station.

Review 55:Villa Lara was a lovely hotel. It was obvious that it had received a great deal of personal attention to create and "old world" feel with an edge as evidenced by the wonderful original art. Personal touches only found in boutique hotels. It is in an excellent location with well-appointed rooms and to echo other reviews--comfortable beds. The staff was gracious and accommodating. Wish we could have stayed longer--we will return!

Review 62:Wish they had a pool or spa

Review 63:Beautiful, elegance. A lot of personal touches like the tv was set to English, etc. the staff was a class act!! The breakfast was good, but verrrrry expensive.

Review 64:Dining room staff very keen to ask if you are enjoying your food but less good at actual service. Hard to attract attention and simple order of a glass of red wine with my main course took ten minutes and 3 waiters to execute! Ridiculous given cost of the meal and being able to drink wine with your main course is hardly a complex request! No gym so really a place to read and relax !

Review 65:The location is quiet, well landscaped but convenient for the Normandy invasion museums and beaches. Food Is good, reception staff excellent Rooms very comfortable. Bathrooms well equipped

Review 66:The style of the hotel is a bit chintzy and old fashioned. Breakfast was in a strange room and all decorations are grand rather than welcoming. Lots of Americans, who seemed to love it.

Review 67:The location was the highlight of this hotel. We enjoyed our cocktails on the terrace in the early evening. The private car park made life easy for visiting Bayeux. Comfortable bed and well-equipped bathroom.
