Reviews for Hôtel De Brunville Et Restaurant Le Café Louis
Review 1:very small number of staff. Had to wait more than 20 minutes before someone showed up at reception and another 10 minutes to find my name (it was grossly miss-spelled). after that it was fine though beds weren't very comfortable
Review 2:Great location.
Review 3:Small room (for a double) which was rather basic and tired. Bed was uncomfortable due to age or cheapness and I could feel the springs. If I were to return for one night then this would be on my list but for longer I would prefer one of the other central hotels. However, the cost would be more and that must be taken into account.
Review 4:Location, location, location. This hotel is in a perfect position within walking distance to some superb restaurants and the main tourist attractions of the museum and cathedral. Private car parking is a great plus here.
Review 5:The second morning, a Saturday, the hotel had 2 busloads come in and had only 1 staff person for breakfast, and he was a student. However, the hotel gave us our breakfast for free (6 of us). The manager was quite reasonable. I have nothing but praise for how it was handled.
Review 6:The location was great for exploring Bayeaux. We walked just a few minutes to the Bayeaux Tapestry museum and to the cathedral.
Review 7:The hotel was really tatty, cracked tiles, no ventilation in the bathroom, faded decor. The breakfast was expensive for what it was. Disappointing for the price.
Review 8:Nothing much
Review 9:In 6 days of travelling through Normandy this has to rate by a long mile the worse hotel. My children gave it a nil rating. Very unwelcoming breakfast at 8am looked like a war zone and none of the staff even bothered to clear a table for us. Cracked tiles in the bath room.
Review 10:Nothing very unfriendly. However it did confirm how good the other hotels were.
Review 11:Friendly helpful staff
Review 12:There was a lot of building work going on which made the place feel dusty and chaotic.
Review 13:The location
Review 14:Close proximity to Normandy beach.
Review 15:I could find no fault.
Review 16:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal. The breakfast good.
Review 17:The room was clean and a fair size for France. The bath was a good size. The location was excellent.
Review 18:Hotel signage was poor and made it hard to find
Review 19:Location was great.
Review 20:good location, comfortable room, no problems at all
Review 21:central location
Review 22:Friendly staff at reception
Review 23:Good location
Review 24:No coffee/tea making facilities in room
Review 25:Garden
Review 26:HAVING TO PAY FOR PARKING MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED OF MY TRIP AND I CAMPED FOR 6 NIGHTS!!
Review 27:PARKING SECURE
Review 28:Breakfast was poor 13 euros for a bit of bread and jam
Review 29:Location
Review 30:Friendly service but tired decor, Internet very expensive.
Review 31:No air condition or fan. Wifi no workinng.
Review 32:Room and breakfast
Review 33:The rooms are very small.
Review 34:The location was great. Our street was very quiet but we were right on the main road. The showers are wonderful. The beds slept great. The comforters looked new. I needed coffee in the am. I went to the receptionist & she went into the kitchen and I thought I'd get two throw away containers but only in France do you get a nice tray with coffees in china with a milk pitcher. Very nice.
Review 35:Not really a good value for money. Toilet seat was broken when we checked in.
Review 36:The money we paid for the room and parking is fair I guess for the location of hotel but hotel needed lots of upgrading.
Review 37:mattress had springs poking out no wifi unless you paid 7 euro PER HOUR - far too expensive! no BBC or CNN even though they say it is available in the room brochure staff unfriendly you have to ask at reception for soaps or shower caps etc as they are not in the room
Review 38:nothing
Review 39:Not sure why we needed to eat at what seemed to be the adjoining hotel.
Review 40:Staff were friendly and helpful, The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was okay, Dinner was Great. we arrived just in time to use the restaurant before they were closing. and the staff accommodated us nicely.
Review 41:We were in the city for the 70th anniversary of D-Day. The hotel staff was not well informed of events that were going on and not much help to us. The rooms were very small, and the parking lot had limited spaces that could not be reserved. The hotel advertises free wi-fi but we found that most of the time it didn't work. That was a major problem for us.
Review 42:You can't beat the location. The hotel is in the center of town so you can walk to points of interest, shopping, and restaurants.
Review 43:The hotel is split into two halves, which is a bit weird and a nuisance. 3* hotels should surely have tea & coffee-making facilities in the rooms. UK hotels do at this price level.
Review 44:Very comfortable. Breakfast ok, but bed-room didn't have restaurant times.
Review 45:Difficult to locate as main sign on the street was for sister hotel 'Luxembourg'. Had to go out through car park to get to room.
Review 46:Very convenient for city centre.
Review 47:The address and the one-way streets were very confusing! Also many of the streets changed names at intersections. We had a hard time finding the street the hotel was on. We were told that parking in the hotel parking lot would be at no charge, and then we were charged for two nights of parking on our bill. The concierge would not change the billing.
Review 48:Our room was very comfortable. The location of the hotel was very convenient for shopping, restaurants, and the nearby cathedral. The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent.
Review 49:Only shower was in a tub and the shower head was way up high so water shot everywhere and no curtain! Also the tub was very slippery and dangerous getting in/out. Wifi had a firewall and we could not access email. They said international satellite tv but no channels in English.
Review 50:The dining options were quite limited. I found the dining facilities and the lobby area dark, gloomy and unwelcoming. A little renovation is needed in those areas.
Review 51:The location could not be beat. It was in the center of everything in Bayeux. As well, the rooms were warm, welcoming and obviously recently renovated.
Review 52:There were some steps to negotiate to get to the car area.
Review 53:We thought the location, not far from the cathedral and the historic centre was very good. Also we were able to park the car in a secure parking area for a few Euros. The room was well appointed and quiet.
Review 54:Booking through Booking.com did not secure the rooms we required and requested and had to prove by paperwork and request room changes. Booked twins and got doubles. Got a top floor bedroom where had to stoop for the nights stay due to overhead beams. Second room had enormous bathroom but tiny bedroom. Hotel staff were very good and changed our rooms.
Review 55:Location is good and rooms are good in De Brunville in "off season" because you are up graded to the sister hotel Luxembourg which is in the same building and has superior rooms but during main season booking at De Brunville is "standard rooms". Ask for booking at at Hotel Luxembourg not De Brunvile. Car park is perfect for car safety.
Review 56:Oir room was next to the lift and th second night there was a group of unconsiderate people, but that is not the hotels fault!!!
Review 57:Was sooooo suprised by how nice the hotel was. I think it has been upgraded recently! We loved our stay! Comfy beds, big room, soooo close to the main street and nice places to eat! I recommend this hotel.
Review 58:we all though the breakfast over priced at 13 euro poor for a hotel dirty cups and plates left on tables for to long only one member of staff on to clear cups and plates and to refill breafeast stuff
Review 59:location is good for exploring Bayeux Rooms are clean and tidy value for the money
Review 60:The small bathroom had a sundries shelf which fell off when touched. The towel rack placed next to the door, was at my head height at 181cms, and my head was bound to collide with same. (Just a small cut resulted). Room decoration looking dated. The room was a good price deal so good value, wouldn't say the same at "in season" prices.
Review 61:The location was excellent being within easy walking distance of restaurants that were open,(it was the last week in March and the town was comparatively quiet), Tapestry and Cathedral. The hotel had a secure (at night) car-park. The beds were comfortable and the room warm. Plenty of hot water. Only four rooms occupied by guests so the hotel (joined to the Hotel De-Luxe in which we stayed) was quiet.
Review 62:Room was noisy as it overlooked a street with a cinema with people standing out front talking/laughing on the pavement. It was good that most people had left by midnight though. Charge for parking in hotel. Free parking a street away.
Review 63:Rooms clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.
Review 64:Your latitude and Longitude data sent me out of my way by more than2hours each way, making my journey from Nantes a very stress full day.The address number is not regognised either and while the hotel nameis, it would make sense to mention the hotel is also known as theLuxembourg Hotel
Review 65:Everything.
Review 66:The bed was very uncomfortable. Room was in need of some repair. Like the shower head was not attached to the wall. They don't provide bar soap or little bottles of shampoo. Instead, to be more "green", but really to save money, you have a pump soap dispenser (ours was broken) and pump shampoo dispenser. We only used our room to sleep, so it didn't bother me too much given the price. The bed was horrible. We stayed in room 106.
Review 67:The location to downtown was very nice. Everyone spoke English.
Review 68:The room was non smoking but the bathroom stank of ciggerettes. We complained to the staff who were supposed to bring an air freshner but never did. Complained again but staff not interested. Breakfast over priced.
Review 69:Good location, nice bedroom
Review 70:Arrived after booking for 2 nights was confirmed months ago to be toldwe could stay for only 1 night as rooms had been destroyed by childrenpreviously..only to discover next day there was a group there..hence noroom for us. They did arrange second night at another hotel which wasgreat!!. Receptionist on arrival could not speak good English butfortunately a guest was able to translate - Felt sorry for her as shewas only doing her job but was not able to get manager etc etc.. Room wewere given could only receive French tv no bbc so had to changeroom....had a sick husband who needed to rest not the hassle at hotel.Dinner in restaurant was most unappetising so did not risk breakfastnext day!!! All in all not a good time and will not recommend hotel toanyone. Second days receptionist was pleasant and helpful but it was toolate...most unhappy about time there.
Review 71:Not Much..only location!!
Review 72:The hotel has joined up with another hotel and there was confusion as the main reception for both hotels was in the next door one! Early morning rather noisy on street side with noisy departure of other guests. The decor of the room was rather garish and pillows were very uncomfortable.
Review 73:the location was very central and would be great for those visiting the region for the Landing Beaches, Bayeux Tapestry and shopping. The bathroom was clean and well lit with all amenities and we were pleased to find it had a bath as well as shower.
Review 74:Room was small but OK for a night. Hotel did not have our reservation on their computer
Review 75:Very convenient to centre of Bayeux. Pleasant staff who were helpful when we were not given room that we had requested.
Review 76:Reception in another hotel, breakfast price excessive at €12 pp, wifi not very strong. booked room with shower but it was only a hand held shower piece and nowhere hang it.
Review 77:Location good for all that the city has to offer - museums, cathedral and excellent for day trips to DD landings.
Review 78:The double bed was awful, consisted of two mattresses which separated when we slept, What a shame as everything else was good
Review 79:The restaurant, on site parking, location,
Review 80:they had allowed smokers in our room previously and had not cleaned out the ash trays so it smelt of smoke. The breakfast was poor value for the 12 euro charge
Review 81:Location was very close to the cathedral and tapestry as well as the old town and shops, bars and restaurants. Own car park not underground
Review 82:The restaurant was awful, a complete con, only go there if there is nowhere else available, even then I don't think i'd go.
Review 83:The accommodation was good
Review 84:Ate once in the restaurant and it seemed overpriced and did not care for the food.
Review 85:The hotel is beautiful and roomy. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 86:Primary thing is our room key opened the adjoining room, 605. Our roomwas 606 and we, by accident, opened 605. We reported it 3 differenttimes and the key continued to open 605. We finally gave up. The hoetlis ole and in need of an updadt. The staff was friendly, but most of thetime overworked, that is, not enough people. Should we ever return, wewill stay at the novatel hotel.
Review 87:Price and comfort were very good
Review 88:The wallpaper, but then again, without it, the place wouldn't be the same!
Review 89:Location and parking good. We had booked a family room but they had found that the heating wasn't working prior to our arrival so gave us two adjoining rooms for the same price as one. The cakes at breakfast are amazing. Location next to the shopping, tapestry and cathedral is excellent. Free wifi available.
Review 90:No elevators. Lots of noise from people talking on street during night.
Review 91:Very nice owners. Good, central location.
Review 92:confusing entrance area as this is really 2 hotels in one - otherwise no problem.
Review 93:really nice place - great location, friendly staff
Review 94:shower in older childrens room on the 4th floor.
Review 95:the location, rooms were comfortable.
Review 96:Think we really expect free wifi for guests these days
Review 97:Location was good and staff were very helpful giving us a secure store for our bikes
Review 98:Very obliging owner provided drinks and snacks at midnight after late arrival.
Review 99:Location, value for money
Review 100:There were no cosy chairs. You could just sit in the bed if you wanted to read.
Review 101:The location was very central.
Review 102:Stay away from rooms close to the elevator, its noise is an issue.
Review 103:Location Price benefit Parking
Review 104:Little hot water. Few outlets. Sink got clogged.
Review 105:Great location. Helpful staff. A good value for what we paid.
Review 106:Good value for money for the one night. Clean and comfortable room and nice bathroom
Review 107:Door to room was not tight
Review 108:Location, clean older hotel
Review 109:WIFI did not work, nor did the TV. Staff at the front desk was rude.
Review 110:The room was relatively big.
Review 111:Pillows were uncomfortable and flat! Bathrooms were too small.
Review 112:Great location! Walking distance to downtown, train station and museum.
Review 113:I had to re-locate to another part of the hotel complex to access wifi.
Review 114:Bright and airy room with plenty of space.
Review 115:Decor was a horrible lime green and shower rail was wedged up by tissues.
Review 116:Nearby parking.
Review 117:close proximity to tapisserie and cathedral. lots of restaurant/bar choices.
Review 118:Quite hard to find Toilet is separate to bathroom No air con
Review 119:Town centre but still quiet Very convenient for looking round town
Review 120:Nothing
Review 121:Ideally situated in centre of Bayeux. Staff very helpful and standard of cuisine very good.
Review 122:We had a non smoking room but it smelled old cigarett. You can not "spray " to cover it.
Review 123:The restaurante was good.
Review 124:My room was opposite the cinema and a little bit noisy at night
Review 125:Very good location Spacious room and bathroom Helpfull and friendly staff
Review 126:The rooms were small, warm and noisy at night. The breakfast was poorand the waitress was surly.
Review 127:The central location was good.
Review 128:Central location. Close to Tapestry building. Good choice for breakfast. Lift to 1st Floor
Review 129:convenient location; private parking
Review 130:should have included parking which was 9€ - internet poor
Review 131:central and clean fine for short stay would use again
Review 132:A little old fashioned and the bathrooms could do with updating
Review 133:Location was good and central
Review 134:Triple room was well designed. Restaurant was good but a littke pricey
