Reviews for El Zaguán

Review 1:Made us extremely welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Accepted our 2 little dogs with no problem whatsoever. Lovely little quirky hotel and we absolutely fell in love with it and will definately be returning next year.

Review 2:This is possibly the friendliest and most welcoming hotel in the world! We were instantly made to feel right at home - more like part of the family than paying guests. Beautiful rooms, decorated sympathetically with the very old nature of the building (lots of massive exposed wooden beams etc), but at the same time quite modern, very clean and comfortable. We had a 13 month old with us, and a cot was provided free of charge with no hassle. Breakfast is well worth the 5 Euros extra - a traditional Spanish feast including delicious cured meats and homegrown fruit and tomatoes! Our older two children (4 and 6) loved the fruit... and ate an entire heaped bowl between them. Superb location within Lerma - easy to walk to bars, tapas, banks, shops etc. WiFi is free, although you might need to sit in the bar to get reception (sampling the very nice local wines as you do!) We also got some really helpful tips on tourist sites to visit locally from the owner, which were excellent. Definitely a 10 / 10 experience. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will certainly be coming back!

Review 3:Couldn't get he wifi to work but as only staying for one night didn't enquire - sure it wasn't a big problem.

Review 4:Stopped in lerma on way back to the ferry at Santander - driving up from the south. What a gem of a town! Hotel was beautiful - has been in the family for about three hundred years and really sympathetically restored. Was perfect. Parked on the road round the corner as getting directly to it is difficult through the maze of tiny cobbled streets - however Googlemaps takes you within sight of it so no problem finding. A great find.

Review 5:Jose and Loli are the owners and they made us feel as part of the family. The breakfast is abundant and there are many areas to relax in, including a beautiful courtyard!

Review 6:The 3rd bed is a loft bed wouldn't be suitable for a younger child in fact our 10 year old grandaughter was not happy to climb or come down an approx 8 foot steel ladder.so I slept in the bed.

Review 7:Very good hospitality room good and comfortable only issue was with 3rd bed.

Review 8:The property is at least 300 years old and full of character! The owner was very hospitable and welcoming. He prided himself on his home cooked breakfast.

Review 9:We arrived on an extremely hot day in the Hotel. The owner was veryfriendly, offering us water, a fan and even an extra room! The rooms areclean and cosy, fair money for the quality you get. Child friendly, authentic place. Our rooms were right at the street so if you go On aSaterday you ll have to take into account the partying youth and thenoise that goes with it... We are very happy customers and will surelyrecommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 10:Absolutely nothing.

Review 11:The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring Lerma. The rooms are quirky and the patio area downstairs is beautiful and a perfect place on a hot day. The best things about the place though are the owners. Such hospitality is rare to find and we were made to feel so welcome it was the highlight of our short stay.

Review 12:The fact that we weren't there when the weather was warm enough to enjoy the beautiful outside patio.

Review 13:Beautiful old building. The owners are very friendly and warm. Breakfast superb. There is parking very close by. The hotel is easily reached from the motorway. WiFi is free and very fast. Dog friendly. Wonderful homely atmosphere. Lots of places to eat in the village. The owners make you feel part of their family in typical Spanish style. Only 2 hours from Bilbao port so great for an overnight stop to or from the ferry port. Hasta pronto!

Review 14:Everything was perfect!

Review 15:On arrival we had to phone the owners who arrived promptly to greet us. They were very friendly and made us feel immediately welcome; throughout our one night stay they could not do enough for us. I requested a drink from the bar which was no problem and thereafter we were free to help our selves - brilliant! Breakfast was traditionally Spanish and very nice. Room had everything we needed and the building itself was quirky and charming. The location was perfect for a short stop travelling through Spain. Lerma is an absolutely beautiful medieval town that can be seen in three hours with plenty of places to eat - well worth a stop.
