Reviews for ibis budget Bayeux
Review 1:Extremely helpful and nice staff Very close to main road, so very convenient for all of Normandy Good family restaurant right next door (hotel gives you a 15% discount voucher)
Review 2:The location is horrible. I'm a student and chose Ibis Budget because it was cheap. But I ended spending more money than expected because I had to take a taxi every time I wanted to go into town.
Review 3:I liked facilities and the staff was very nice.
Review 4:Would have appeciated hair dryers in the rooms. Would have liked a place to have a glass of wine in the evening - told no food or drink in lobby area.
Review 5:Clean, fresh fruit for breakfast, good coffee.
Review 6:No kettle in room to make hot drinks. This could really add to the service!
Review 7:Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of information available for tourists in terms of leaflets, maps and from staff.
Review 8:Watch the auto light switch in the toilet - breakfast was a little basic but fine
Review 9:Great facilities for a budget room would put more expensive hotels to shame - comfortable bed, great shower very clean - restaurant that was attached had the best grilled food ever.
Review 10:none
Review 11:What a nice surprise for a Ibis budget! I had a quick overnight stay before meeting with friends in Bayeux. It is right off the highway. Room is big for European standard. Staff were nice and helpful.
Review 12:My problem was I did not have a car as the motel is 8 miles from Bayeux. Had to get a taxi to and from. Taxi service was good but much more convenient staying in the town for me.
Review 13:Was very comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. There was a restaurant next door which was OK.
Review 14:This hotel's location was perfect for day tripping through the Normandy area. We used it for a base to visit Bayeaux, the Caen Memorial Museum, and all the beaches and museums. The rooms are smaller than the U.S. but then we just wanted a centralized location with clean rooms. This was just right.
Review 15:Hotel in a peaceful location with easy access to Bayeux and beaches, although we know it well in Normandie as we lived there for 6 years and love France.
Review 16:The quality of bath towels is below low standard; they are thin and worn out. As a budget hotel, the room size kustl needs 10 sq feet larger to be functional for sleeping and luggages.
Review 17:Location is good for travelers by cars. The bed is very comfortable,
Review 18:Found the drinks machine in the lobby unnecessarily expensive.
Review 19:Great position for meeting clients staying elsewhere to visit the battlefields and at a price which is very good value. Whilst very basic, as you would expect, facilities were, however, fine for a short stay.
Review 20:NO CHAIRS anywhere Got backache in room and breakfast sitting on stools without backs
Review 21:Clean and Quite Very Comfortable and plenty of space Excellent staff Great restaurant next door
Review 22:No kettle in room and only machine coffee. Too far out of bayeux to walk in but having said that it's a very easy 5 minute drive.
Review 23:Great basic hotel for a couple of nights. Secure car park and really quiet location
Review 24:Inadequate staff during check in - only one person trying to deal with multiple arrivals so it took nearly half an hour. Breakfast too basic. Perching on stools is not ideal for older people. Difficult to find as the address did not register on my satnav.
Review 25:Good basic, clean room, good value for money
Review 26:It's way too far from town. $15 euro taxi ride each way, the staff weren't very friendly and wouldn't even check us in 20 minutes early.
Review 27:There was nothing special about this place at all.
Review 28:A bit hard to find without apps. Not on gps yet.
Review 29:The name Ibis Budget states what it is. A comfortable affordable hotel ideal for anybody wanting a base for visiting the D Day areas and Bayeux. There is an associated resturant next door that offers a 15 p/cent discount to Ibis clients
Review 30:Maybe a few more roadsings near the hotel on the roundabouts!!!
Review 31:Everything perfect The restaurant next door was very good indeed- super food and service.
Review 32:No other food outlets within walking distance of hotel.
Review 33:Staff were all friendly and spoke english. Room was basic but comfortable, nice shower and plenty of hot water. Good choice at breakfast, various cheeses, fruit, cereals, french bread, brioche, yoghurts and croissants(regularily topped up). Good central location for D Day beaches and close to Bayeux tapestry museum. Reataurant next door did good brasserie style food but slightly limited with accompanying vegetables!
Review 34:Small room, utilitarian.
Review 35:Clean, tidy, economic Had all the essential elements for a 3 night stay. Good, well price restaurant next door. Central to all the Normany D-Day sites Bayeux is a nice, historic town
Review 36:We didn't have a bad experience at this hotel.
Review 37:The friendliness of the staff, and I mean everyone. We arrived quite early and were allowed to check in. It was a seasonal holiday in France and we moved to a family room saving even more money. Cleanliness was exceptional. This is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for but the staff are very helpful. Location was also perfect for us.
Review 38:A bit out of town (although conveniently close to the main road for onward travel) You can find places closer to town but since you are going to get in the car anyway to go to town it is not such a big deal.
Review 39:Clean, relatively roomy for a budget hotel. Good value breakfast. Convenient Courtepaille steakhouse next door.
Review 40:Really comfortable, excellently helpful staff, clean, nice breakfast plenty of parking spaces, a really nice place to stay, thanks to you all for making our stay a pleasure. I
Review 41:design of rooms was exceptional and although relatively small space it was all used. Bunk bed above double bed. size of double bed. Separate toilet with outward opening door. Sizeable shower unit with simple operation and soap dispenser. Floor surfaces were clean and easy to maintain.
Review 42:Excellent choice of food at breakfast & lovely fresh bread and croissants etc. Room not all that comfortable but bed was fine and it had everything you need for one or two nights(wouldn't stay longer). Also well signposted off main road which was good as sat nav didn't recognise it.
Review 43:The staff were fantastic and friendly and the cost was amazingly cheap for the three nights we were there. When we ordered a taxi, it was there within minutes.
Review 44:Excellent staff kind an welcoming. Easy to find an close to American War Cemetry.. Excellent room with aircon and lovely breakfast. Definatly boon again.
Review 45:We just needed a place to crash for the night before heading out for a tour of Normandy the next morning, and ibis Bayeux served that purpose perfectly. They allowed us to check in even at the very late hour of arrival, and breakfast was inexpensive and served as early as we needed it. Fun and comfortable room with perfectly sufficient amenities.
Review 46:Not enough towels and the bed wasn't comfortable.
Review 47:Staff was very nice, hotel was clean and breakfast was good. Fine place for sleeping and a very good value.
Review 48:Just remember it's a budget hotel. The breakfast isn't great, so plan ahead to eat out at a café in town if you're going to need more than continental style breakfast.
Review 49:The hotel was easy to find and close enough to Bayeux and Normandy to see the sights but be able to get away from the crowds as well.
Review 50:Pity there is not a bigger seating area at reception to relax and have a drink after dining.
Review 51:Helpful and friendly staff, cleanliness of room. Secure parking and very reasonable price for room and breakfast.
Review 52:Far from the center of Bayeux.
Review 53:Most travelers in France will have stayed in one of these cookie-cutter motels at one time or another, so the only real question is "Is it a well-run one or a poorly-run one?" This one is a well-run one.
Review 54:Bed was like a board with a thin mattress, staff were grumpy, it was not possible to get any type of drink apart from expensive half cups of tea or coffee from a machine, until breakfast when you needed to buy a meal to get a drink.cheap
Review 55:It served its purpose for one night, glad it wasn't more.
Review 56:Could do with facility to make a hot drink in room, I like a drink before I go to bed, but if I wanted one I had to go down to reception to the vending machine.
Review 57:close to most places we where looking to visit. Close to restaurant if required, and easy access to A13 to get to other parts of Normandy. Great staff nothing to much trouble in getting things for you.
Review 58:Close proximity to the Normandy WW II sites. If you are looking for a budget place this is it. We were looking for a place to stay without frills...this is it. Clean, convenient, friendly and good breakfast.
Review 59:Location - too far from Town centre; no refreshment facilities in the room; limited breakfast selection
Review 60:Cleanliness of the property - Value for money - Private Parking
Review 61:Pillows too flat. Extra bed over the main bed was too low and I bumped my head a couple of times. The soap in the shower stall was pretty bad, we had to use our own.
Review 62:Friendly staff, free croissant at reception, Clean room. Bed rather comfortable.
Review 63:WiFi in my section of the hotel broke down. As I was away from my family I keep in touch via the internet so this was not good. When I asked when it would be fixed I was told a week. Hard to believe in this day and age.
Review 64:Cost of accommodation was good, as the name implies you can't expect bells and whistles. Very clean and modern, good shower. Restaurant next door which gives 15% discount with Ibis voucher
Review 65:The hotel was clean and comfortable and great value for money this is the 2nd time we have used this hotel in 3 months and will be using it again soon
Review 66:The loo was like a tiny box. Im not a small guy, but then again, im not that big. I had problems in the loo. my sholders touched both sides at the same time.
Review 67:The Room it's self was very clean and comfortable and for a one night stay was good value for money.
Review 68:our room is a little small for two persons, but that may be not the case if you can afford a higher room rate of course.
Review 69:friendly staff; comfort bed; hot water in both evening and morning; quiet room; clean floor; very useful microwave to warm food; free parking; free and stable WIFI; free local travel information;
Review 70:The breakfast was just ok, but also inexpensive. Our kids all ate for free!
Review 71:The location, right off the highway and only a few minutes drive into Bayeux. The lobby area was comfortable and relaxing to enjoy a beer at night!
Review 72:Only fault was, could have had more variety for breakfast.
Review 73:Good location,friendly staff.rooms spotless,WiFi good.great restaurant next door,with a percentage off while staying in hotel.
Review 74:tiny shower and bunk bed. way too tiny ! there were 3 of us.my son said the bunk was not comfortable.
Review 75:wifii was good. breakfast was basic and ok. spotlessly clean. good for parking. staff helpful. everything you need. felt safe and secure.
Review 76:The lack of meat and eggs at breakfast.
Review 77:The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant next to the hotel is pretty good although it's a bit pricey. Excellent parking, close to the motorway. Wifi was perfect. Breakfast was good, but meatless.
Review 78:Wished for a heartier paid separate breakfast with some meat for a long day. Americans are used to that though ... maybe that's one way they make profit. Eh, not too much of a negative.
Review 79:Overall cleanliness and comfort. Best of all was a real standup shower and comfortable bed. Price was very good. Restaurant right next door also with longer than typical hours.
Review 80:Rooms small
Review 81:A clean basic modern hotel in a good central position for Normandy beaches, history etc Very good price for Bayeux area, 8 minute drive to the centre. Situated on a out of town business area with its own parking.
Review 82:We were told our booking had been cancelled!! I would not travel all the way from Lincoln if I had no-where to stay!!
Review 83:The hotel was fantastic when we eventually got our rooms.
Review 84:No room safe No tea making facilities in the room
Review 85:Clean rooms Good value breakfast Ample parking Car park locked after 11pm Helpful staff Quiet Location
Review 86:Rooms small. No privacy if your 2 singles sharing!! Had to go out of room for a while to allow my mum to wash and change. Is a curtain across room but it is see through!! Ended up with a double with bunk bed as twin rooms have beds together and can't push apart! Get what you pay for!?!
Review 87:Very clean premises, pleasant staff, modern facilities. Good breakfast.( as much as you like) good location off the main roads with free parking. Nice eatery next door.
Review 88:Tiny rooms Difficult to find
Review 89:I was travelling to bayeux to collect my partner from hospital following a motorbike accident. The hotel was located just off a main A road but the area code was not recognised by google maps so a little tricky to find after our initial arrival. The hotel is open all night luckily as we did not arrive until 1am which was fantastic. All staff were very friendly and most spoke some English and a few very good English although I did try a little french which I think is only polite. The rooms are tiny and bathroom privacy protected by a not very private see-through curtain which cordoned off the beds from the sink/toilet/shower area. The toilet is clostrophobic unless you have a disabled room (we did our 2nd night with my injured partner) they are roomier with a wet room and offer far more privacy. Overall it's a budget hotel and does what it says on the tin and I was most impressed with the continental breakfast - most satisfying. Not bad at all
Review 90:Lack of any storage space. A lockable chest would be ideal....providing sizeable and secure storage space within each room. WiFi connection cumbersome, requiring user to log on every time it's accessed.
Review 91:Modern, stylish, clean and fresh accomodation at a reasonable price.
Review 92:Nothing much really - TV in English would have been nice but otherwise - really can't think of anything negative
Review 93:Clean and efficient hotel run by excellent Staff resulting in an enjoyable stay. Location's okay IF you have a car. But the main things about this hotel are its cleanliness and its Staff who are great, particularly Lucie who was brilliant. We had a problem and she sorted it out efficiently and without fuss - testament to her attitude and training
Review 94:Nothing
Review 95:Great hotel for the price. A little out of the way,but once you know your way into Bayeux its not an issue. The staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was excellent for the price.
Review 96:The Ibis is a bare bones clean value for thrifty travelers who are there only to sleep and rest between tours. There are no facilities for dining or entertainment or shopping close by but it is good for a value night.
Review 97:Hotel has no street address for use in my gps. Bed needs to be upgraded.
Review 98:Facilities well kept. Free parking. Location was good once you found the hotel.
Review 99:I was in bayeux to recover my partner following a motorbike accident. Spent 2 days at the hotel arrived at 1am called to advise of our late arrival as we were driving from Calais to be told it wasn't a problem. We were quickly given room key cards and could then sleep. The following days booking was changed quickly to a disabled room as the rooms are to be fair, tiny!! Very compact and if you're staying in a room with your dad a bit awkward due to the room and bathroom set-up although there is a curtain you can pull over for privacy but the loo is like a coffin, the shower is a walk in and the water was hot but low pressure. No tea/coffee making facilities but a vending machine next to reception. We had to shower the invalid with a cast on his leg and the staff provided me a bin bag to tie round his leg. The breakfast was good and plentiful. Overall I give a 4 out of 5
Review 100:Absolutely no amenities, breakfast overpriced (we found a nearby one serving the same menu for 1/2 the price). Not enough hair dryers to meet the demand. Adjacent restaurant served tasteless food at high prices.
Review 101:Clean room, comfortable bed.
Review 102:second morning at breakfast we had to stand to eat as a group had obviously booked in the previous evening (schoolchildren).
Review 103:Rooms well fitted out, we were only staying for 2 nights. Restaurant next door, hotel gave us a voucher first night, forgot second night but restaurant gave us a discount anyway. Met others our age travelling.
Review 104:A bit too far from Bayeux so you can't really walk. Not really a problem for me as I drove in.
Review 105:Friendly staff. Clean and modern. The restaurant next door is very good and again the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 106:Extremely basic. My husband said it looked like a hospital room-and it did.
Review 107:It hit my top three basics-it was clean, comfortable and quiet. This is a no-frills place good for a night while traveling.
Review 108:Chaos at breakfast time. Lack of reasonably priced eating place nearby.
Review 109:Cleanliness of room, bedding and towels. Feeling of space in room and the hotel. Plenty of parking.
Review 110:The location is great in terms of visiting the Normandy beaches and general access to the area. The room was clean, comfortable and practical - great value @ €57. There is a basic breakfast available for €6, vending machines for drinks and snacks, and you can by beers up to 11.00pm from reception.
Review 111:It was our second visit to Ibis Bayeux for 3 nights. We love this Ibis Budget and wont stay anywhere else when in Normandy. The young lady`s at check in and and breakfast were great, friendly, nothing too much trouble and very very hard working. The rooms are basic but had everything we needed as a base to visit the WW2 Memorials and beaches. We made use of the restaurant next door which served lovely food, and again found the staff very friendly. Our breakfast experiance was great, we ate plenty before going out for the day, plenty to choose from. A great experiance, we will be back.
Review 112:Nothing to dislike.
Review 113:Good value, bright clean & tidy, helpful staff. Family of 5 stayed in 2 rooms overnight, ahead of ferry journey back to UK, avoiding overnight drive up through France. Allowed us to make the most use of our last day of holiday and also visit Omaha beach.
Review 114:This is a simple, very clean and tidy hotel. Staff were very helpful. It was ideal for our overnight stay and great value for money. Would recommend for short stays to all. Although you do need to consider you have to drive to all shops and restaurants/bars. The one next door was again clean but food was nothing special and staff not very friendly.
Review 115:As I have a degenerating spinal problem I found there was absolutely nocomfort here. Maybe I should have expected that because it is budget butI was very uncomfortable. Chairs in the lounge area are all too long inthe seat and I was almost lying down. Chairs in the corner with thetables, literally, the closest I got to comfort, were so high I had tobe helped onto it. There were no English sub titles on the television!Chest of drawers needed badly!
Review 116:I liked the quiet and the courtesy shown us by staff. Beds were good andfirm. Rooms very clean.
Review 117:Restaurant next door was recommended by the hotel. It was very poor.
Review 118:Great location just off the motorway, excellent value for money, budget hotel that is as described. Pleasant staff and good parking, free!
Review 119:The restaurant next to the hotel wasn't very good. The beer was expensive and Bayeaux requires a car as it is nearly 10 minutes away
Review 120:Clean hotel with friendly staff
Review 121:No food really in the evening and restaurant recommended next door was expensive for what it was, even with discount.
Review 122:So close to the motorway and really easy to find. Perfect stop over hotel.
Review 123:Would have like a kettle, tea/coffee in room.
Review 124:Basic but clean. Breakfast pleniful and well stocked. Glad that we could buy a drink at the end of the day as the grill next door would not sell just drinks, you had to eat there.
Review 125:Tv didn't go loud enough to hear bbc channel.
Review 126:Clean, enough space for bags, shower etc fine, lots of car parking outside, felt safe secure and rested.
Review 127:Located pretty far from the heart of town, although we knew that ahead of time.
Review 128:Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great value. Well-maintained facilities.
Review 129:The hotel is clean, reasonably priced, and exactly as advertised. The rooms are small but fine for a night or two. It is close to the city and convenient to the highway.
Review 130:too far to walk to Bayeaux the food in the adjoining restaurant nowhere to sit in the evening nowhere to hang/store clothes
Review 131:modern and clean nice bedroom for the money good place to stay for a short trip
Review 132:Couldn't fault it .
Review 133:This is a budget hotel so you can't expect any trimmings. That said I was really impressed with what it had to offer - bright, clean, comfortable rooms. The seating area in the lobby was fine, plenty of brochures, free wifi and a nice restaurant located next door. For the price you pay you get excellent value.
