Reviews for Le Chalet du Mont Roland

Review 1:On sunday the restaurant is closed and also in the whole village Dole all the restaurants are closed on sunday. A very bad experience !!

Review 2:In summertime is the surrounding very nice

Review 3:Upon arrival we were informed that our room had twin beds. I didn't have a paper copy of my request for a "grand lit" with me so had to argue that we had booked a grand lit! Eventually we were given a room in the annexe with double bed which was apparently more expensive but for which we were charged our original price. It was not as comfortable as the original "comfort room" we had booked in the hotel. The heating was not on in the morning and the hot water was cold. We booked in for dinner but were told the lower priced dinner menu was fully booked so we could only have the 90 euro per person menu. We declined and were then given a table for the lower priced menu (55 euro)! We understand the hotel is under new management and so there may be initial problems. After a long drive we did not expect to have to demand the type of room we had booked and the dinner menu we wanted. We will probably return in March in the hope that the problems will have been addressed by the new management.

Review 4:We love the location as it is an ideal stopover for us on the way to the Alps in the winter and to other places in the summer. New Year's Eve is busy with locals and visitors enjoying good food at the New Year's Eve dinner.

Review 5:We were allocated a very small room (No 4) with a sofa bed. There was hardly room to get around the bed and the bathroom was too small for an adult to be comfortable in! Pity as we'd stayed 4 months previously with friends and both been allocated nice spacious rooms. This experience room wise was, I'm afraid, enough to put us off staying again.

Review 6:Good location with a nice restaurant. Good breakfast too.

Review 7:Staffs were friendly and helpful Great views from the front balcony The restaurant serves exceptional food Peaceful and quiet area Very close to the Motorway

Review 8:The staff were very helpful and friendly. When the gal at the front desk didn't understand our request, she immediately summoned the restaurant manager, who spoke English quite well. He was able to relay our request, and we enjoyed conversing with him when we ate at the restaurant. The food was fabulous!!

Review 9:The atmosphere over the evening meal. We were ushered to a table away from the area we wished to sit in, and then were ignored totally by the staff for 40 minutes. The waiter in particular seemed to have a significant problem with serving us, to the point of being totally ill mannered. We actually felt as though he had a problem with our being British. When we informed the receptionist the following morning, she was a complete contrast. Pleasant, polite and professional.

Review 10:Nice room. Pleasant reception and breakfast.

Review 11:Shared terrace would be fine, but unfortunately our neighbours were very heavy smokers ....

Review 12:Friendly welcome, very good evening meal, lovely view from room.

Review 13:In a beautiful setting with panoramic views, Chalet du Mont Roland is dog-friendly, people-friendly and very convenient, not far off the motorway. The owner was very affable and the atmosphere pleasant and relaxed, with excellent country walks for our precious pooches.

Review 14:We use this hotel as a stop over but would really like to stay longer as it is so lovely. The standard of the rooms -the views, the decor, the showers and the large TV are wonderful. The food in the restaurant is exceptional - we will return!

Review 15:All good!

Review 16:We have visited this hotel many times on our way to the ski slopes once, sometimes twice a year. It is an ideal place to stop over, good food and comfortable (redecorated) rooms.

Review 17:We stayed here on new Year's Eve last year and it was such a special dinner we decided to come back. Unfortunately we chose the quieter dining room - and it was - but the staff were rushed and service was slow. A pity. It will not deter us from coming again.

Review 18:The room, the breakfast, free wifi, the views.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:We thought this hotel was in an excellent location and would use it again when necessary. Unfortunately we arrived very late & had to leave early as we had a very long journey ahead of us. So it wasn't possible to use any of the facilities.

Review 21:Newly refurbished & well appointed room. Very quiet location with nice views over the country side. Excellent restaurant. Plus the manager was extremely helpful in pointing out local places of interest in Dole including where we could park etc.

Review 22:Doesn't work out as a cheap stopover but well worth it as a bit of a treat!

Review 23:Lovely location at the end of a quiet road and only 10 mins drive into centre of Dole. Plenty of free parking. Hotel staff friendly but professional. Room large, comfortable and well equipped. Excellent breakfast and superb meals in the resturant in the evening including good kids meals.

Review 24:The address provided by Booking.com was incorrect. We where given an address in Dole, while Le Chalet du Mont Roland is located in the village of Sampans. Once we entered the village, there where signs that clearly directed us to the correct location.

Review 25:We arrived at Le Chalet du Mont Roland during our trip to the Mont Ventoux and stayed here for one night. The reception was very friendly and we had two rooms on the 2nd floor. These where absolutely amazing! The rooms where very clean and nicely decorated, with a lot of taste for details! As we had our racing bikes with us, we asked them if these could be stored somewhere safely. Friendly as the host was, he offered us to store them in a safe room on the 2nd floor next to our rooms. Furthermore, the dinner and brakefast the following morning was absolutely great! We will certainly come back here if we visit this area again!

Review 26:The location, the excellent food in the evening, and the welcome our large dog received. We liked the hotel so much that we booked in again on our way back from holidaying in Germany.

Review 27:Very small room. Did not have coffee/tea facilities in the room. No ala carte breakfast, only the buffet.

Review 28:Quiet with beautiful view. Restaurant was lovely. Good shower. Balcony to sit outside of our room.

Review 29:Family room OK for one night but a bit cramped.

Review 30:Excellent location looking out over the Saone valley towards the Cote d'Or and back towards the Jura, in a quiet hamlet, with hardly any cars or noise. Air con in room very quiet and efficient.

Review 31:nothing

Review 32:lovely room, very modern, very clean ,good restaurant, staff very welcoming especially as we arrived whilst France were playing their world cup game against Nigeria!!!

Review 52:Fridge and sink in kitchette not clean and working sufficiently

Review 53:Staff, rooms were actually an apartment, very spacious

Review 54:Very helpful staff. Wonderful views and setting. Peaceful.

Review 55:The view

Review 56:Beautiful, peaceful location. Lovely food in restaurant which was very good value too. Helpful staff. Very comfortable bed. Would recommend to friends/family without hesitation.

Review 57:The buffet breakfast which is at additional cost was looking very sadly provisioned when we came to breakfast at 8.30 am. Not worth the additional charge.

Review 58:Location and dinner at the restaurant.

Review 59:As a stopover point on a lengthy road trip it was a welcome resting point. Staff were accommodating over our late arrival and it is such a pretty spot we were sorry we could not stay longer.

Review 60:Our bedroom could have done with a little extra lighting.

Review 61:Excellent value for money.Lots of locals in for dinner, a recommendationin itself.A Perfect example of a French family run hotel.

Review 62:The room (number 18) was lovely with a shower room and separate toilet. The bed was comfortable and the decor very attractive. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 63:A very nice stopover on route to the alps, the staff were excellent, very polite and attentive. In the morning they offered us the option of making up sandwiches or lunch from the breakfast bar.Would thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Review 64:I cannot think of a negative comment as it was good value for money in a beautiful setting.

Review 65:The very quiet/different location near to the church with several walks around the church. Our room looked as if it had been recently refurbished, was very comfortable and the colour scheme was lovely. The bathroom was spotless. The outside parking is very safe. The restaurant was attractive and the food was very good especially the starters and good value for money as was the breakfast. The staff were all very efficient and friendly, especially the lady at breakfast. I would recommend this hotel for a couple of nights in preference to staying in Dole because it so peaceful with beautiful views of the surrounding area and I loved hearing the owl in the night.

Review 66:Very friendly staff/very relaxing and quiet hotel/fresh and modern rooms/excellent food and wines/nice location /have stayed here twice and both times were excellent/ would definitely stay here again when in the area..

Review 67:Warm welcome from owner including a free beer each. Very peaceful location after a busy few days sightseeing in France. Excellent and reasonably priced evening meal.

Review 68:Waiter at dinner chewing gum - created image of couldn't care. Bitsof tables and furniture etc lying around access to lifts - looked messy.Breakfast was expensive at 11 Euros per person compared to otherestablishments.

Review 69:Very friendly welcome. Triple room reasonable size and confortable.Quite location on a small hill outside Dole. Very good evening meal(menu), ample Al La carte, nice dining room, well attended on Saturdaynight. Clearly a place for locals to go out to. Was the best hotel wecould find on the internet in/near Dole, and we were pleased withour choice.

Review 70:The hotel is under a state of refurbisment and a lot of money is being spent so not perfect at the moment, with no real lounge/bar area, with work in progress in many areas, but absolutly fine for that overnight stop. The anex rooms are cheaper and decoration reflects that. Room 23 in the anex has a bedroom and lounge with a fold out comfortable bed, so worth it if travelling with teenagers. The standard rooms are small european size and ok. The beds were a little too hard for my taste but other travellers in our party were fine with the firm beds. Overall a welcome stop on a long journey.

Review 71:The staff were excellent, couldnt help enough and the owner/manager was warm , and very welcoming. The evening meal was fantastic, with a choice for all. The location (if like me you like peace and quite) was spot on with no traffic on top of a hill, a few miles outside Dole. The location is perfect for that overnight stop travelling to and from UK to Switzerland/Italy and with its nice restaurant no need to drive anymore and bother going out looking for food in Dole. Sat Nav finds it easy and its signposted from main road. We stayed on our way to Switzerland and booked again for our return journey

Review 72:No splash screen on shower.

Review 73:Location. Value for money. Good food.
