Reviews for Hotel Val De Loire

Review 1:Wifi was extremely slow - so much so barely possible to use. Toilet door a little too close to the toilet for comfort. Room 24.

Review 2:Family room was excellent, beds comfortable, an ideal location to explore the area. Ample parking too!

Review 3:Our host was very friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Finding a car park was not a problem, and we were given lots of good advice on where to go. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was normal French breakfast, but had everything we wanted. The local chateau is partially covered for renovation, but still worth going to see. One side is uncovered and beautiful, and the inside of the castle is nice to see.

Review 4:Wi-fi a bit weak, toilet would be better combined with bathroom (ventilation) and must expect some noise from road. Overall though a good stay and would use again.

Review 5:Good clean room and friendly service

Review 6:Driving a car up to the entrance with only one parking stall for drop-off, but itself on a very small and congested street. Parking for hoteland other sites is free but over 200m away and very congested.

Review 7:Adequate is enough to like most of the time.

Review 8:Nothing, the facilities are reasonable for the price of the room

Review 9:The hotel is in the main street with shops, restaurants and the chateau of Azay le Rideau within a few minutes walk. Parking is available at no charge.

Review 10:The face that for not a lot more we could have stayed at the Grand Monarque just down the road which is in a completely different class. Next time we will return there!

Review 11:Not a lot - an old fashioned basic French hotel

Review 12:Manager was very helpful and spoke perfect English

Review 18:Pleasant overnight stay & convenient for visiting the town.

Review 19:Very small bathroom

Review 20:Friendly, helpful staff

Review 21:Room was quite small and sparsely decorated but adequate for one night.

Review 22:Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 23:Charm of the owners made this short stay

Review 24:The friendly concierge

Review 25:Very convenient, helpful staff.

Review 26:No dislikes

Review 27:Convenient site in village.private secure parking

Review 28:Quiet comfortable, good location close to town centre and chateau.

Review 29:No problems.

Review 30:Superb friendly welcome, staff very helpful, good value breakfast. An ideal location within easy walking distance of the lovely chateaux.

Review 31:The water closet, which is separate from the shower and sink smelled a bit funny.

Review 32:Staff, presumably the owner was very helpful and nice.

Review 33:The bar closed when we might want it

Review 34:Good location for the chateau, parking on site, nice crisp white sheets and good showers

Review 35:Great hotel with private car park at rear, staff really friendly, very close to restaurants, lovely little town

Review 36:Friendly staff. Secure bike storage, amazing location.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:The location of the hotel within walking distance of the lovely town with bars and restaurants. The hotel and the room, although dated were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The gentleman at reception was very helpful and professional. We would definitely use this hotel again and would highly recommend anyone to stay. There was plenty secure parking for a small charge or optional free parking at the front.

Review 39:The location was perfect for visiting the many nearby chateaux. The little town was charming and the hotel restaurant served delicious meals. We only stayed for one night but we would definitely stay again.

Review 40:We loved this hotel, Great location to visit many chateau. Lovely little town to visit. The manager was very helpful and spoke English well. Breakfast was a substantial buffet.

Review 41:No lift, dark staircases, the rooms are in need of a makeover and upgrading for a 3? Star Hotel, including curtains to keep out the street light at night would have ensured a good nights sleep,

Review 42:A very pleasant young manager who spoke very good English, he helped carry our cases and was very helpful with recommendations for a restaurant and many local amienities, breakfast was perfectly adequate.

Review 43:Bike rental was advertised at the hotel which in fact needed to be arranged in town. However, that was not a problem and we were able to leave the bikes safely stored at the hotel for pick up.

Review 44:Staff were friendly and helpful.Car parking was on site and secure. We had an evening meal which was delicious and the service good. Centrally located in the town. We had none of the issues experienced in some of the other reviews and would stay there again.

Review 45:The Hotel has a very convenient location to the town and to the Chateau. The room was functional, but austere. Parking was convenient. We were not comfortable here..

Review 46:The hotel seems rather short-staffed. When we arrived, there was no-one on reception and we had to wait for about 10 minutes. The man who came had just been cleaning a room, and also served breakfast and organised checking out the next morning - I think he was on his own!

Review 47:The hotel is well-located in easy walking distance from the centre of this charming little town and the lovely chateau. The room was light and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Review 48:Rooms were too small and stuffy for a family without opening the windows, but then traffic noise was unbearable

Review 49:Friendly staff, if a little disorganised. Secure car park

Review 50:It was a public holiday when we arrived but the town was almost closed except for a few shops and cafes. It wasn't welcoming or friendly at any level. Similarly the hotel suffered the same feeling and we felt uncomfortable.

Review 51:Not much. It is clean, tidy and functional but is extremely austere. We didn't feel comfortable there and also didn't think much of the town.

Review 52:No evening dinner facilities; though there were plenty of restaurants in town. Lack of staff presence in breakfast room in the mornings.

Review 53:Central location in Azay-le-Rideau

Review 54:Our booking although confirmed by Booking .com had not been fully actioned by the hotel. The large room on the ground floor (my wife has trouble with stairs) that was booked was not available and we were moved into a small twin room on the 1st floor. It was OK but no more. Very cramped and rather tired in appearance. The wi-fi would not work, although my computer connected to the hotel server, the hotel server could not connect to the web, useless. Others were having the same problem so it wasn't just me. The hotel has had new owners since June 2012. They have a lot of work to do in many areas to bring this hotel up to standards elsewhere.

Review 55:Well situated in the centre of Azay le Rideau with car parking. A good, if expensive (E9.50 each) breakfast.

Review 56:Good position with lovely restaurants and easy walking distance to light show

Review 57:Décor of the hallway and room.

Review 58:Good location, friendly staff, secure parking and priced correctly.

Review 59:The restaurant : for the price range, very good food cooked well, the best value for money I've seen in years. Rooms comfortable, functional.

Review 60:Hotel is situated in a beautiful village. Had a very nice evening meal in the restaurant.

Review 61:No hot water in the bathroom and no intention from the owner to fix the problem

Review 62:We had a delicious meal on the terrace. Friendly waiter.

Review 63:Central location on Azay-le-Rideau.

Review 64:Second bedroom had no cooling fan.

Review 65:N/A

Review 66:Hotel generally Nothing special

Review 67:Room a bit small and basic

Review 68:Liked the staff - very helpful

Review 69:Very courteous & helpful

Review 70:The manager was extremely personable and offered great ideas on things to see, not only in the town but in the region as well.

Review 71:Good location and value. The staff was very helpful.

Review 72:The only problem was the shower which was just a dribble.

Review 73:Staff very friendly and helpful and lovely location.

Review 74:Good location, good for families, clean, friendly.

Review 75:No bath

Review 76:Situation and friendly staff
