Reviews for Hotel Sa Calma
Review 1:The spa facilities were not working well which was very disappointing and more frustrating than relaxing. No conditioner. It's a 4 star, I'd expect this be available even if you have to ask especially for it.
Review 2:Beautiful hotel, nicely decorated, peaceful and very nice staff.
Review 3:The jacuzzi jets did not work and the hot tub was cold
Review 4:The breakfast room on the top floor was lovely, our room was very spacious , the staff very friendly and the location was good.
Review 5:It reached our expectations there's nothing negative to say
Review 6:We really enjoyed our stay. The staff makes you feel welcomed and they are very helpful and professional. The breakfast is nice, especially the fresh orange juice. The small spa that we had only for us when we reserved it. The design of the hotel is amazing.
Review 7:Cooked items at breakfast .
Review 8:This is well placed hotel. The room with ensuite bathroom was large with a very good bed and fine linen, towels robes etc. There is a free bookable spa with jacqusi, sauna and hot room in an interesting cave conversion. Breakfast on the terrace was varied with hot and cold options. In winter one could of course eat in the bistro. Staff were helpful and pleasant. The decor is a mixture between elegant shabby chic with odd bits of kitch thrown in which perhaps rather countered the effect.
Review 9:Not possible to pay in EUR with my Visa. I was charged an extra 28 euros due to paying in my national currency. It was a new system, but that is no excuse. It should have been tested properly.
Review 10:Great location and great local breakfast.
Review 11:Completely overpriced and the staff, though congenial, did a poor job of letting us know about the area and the property. The decor was a hodgepodge of weird doll collections and a few modern art pieces. Our room was done in hot pink! And, it was directly over a road. A nice rooftop lounge had lovely views and a tepid jacuzzi.
Review 12:The location was great.
Review 13:The staff went out of their way to help with our car problems. The hotel itself is gorgeous. If you want some calm in amongst the bustle of Begur then this is the spot.
Review 14:All minor things - sometimes there was no- one on reception, we were not shown the spa until we left, we had to keep moving our car from one lot to another despite reserving parking in advance and it took nearly an hour to fill the bath to a depth of 3 inches. Sunshades over the loungers would be a nice extra.
Review 15:Limited parking but public lot about three blocks away.
Review 16:Beautiful gem of a hotel located in the center of Begur close to shops and market. Rooms are attractive and beds comfortable. No pool but a hot tub on roof along with pleasant sunning and lounging area.
Review 17:Lack of info and consequently having to ask many questions - no instructions for lock box, no price list for mini bar, no front door code (which we discovered we needed after being unable to get in on returning from a day out). Only one door card issued when we needed two to use the lock box which also operates with this. Breakfast choice quite limited if you don't want ham or cheese and breakfast service on the slow side.
Review 18:The position in Begur, free use of spa and roof terrace hot tub. Also beautifully designed inside - cosy and very stylish with lovely artwork throughout. Hotel rooms also very nicely designed and spacious.
Review 19:It was a very small car park however this is the same with the other hotels in Begur.
Review 20:We really liked the whole ambience of this small but beautiful boutique hotel, decor was beautiful, and the breakfast in the morning was beautiful. The receptionist spoke great English and was very helpful, the highlight was the hot tub in the cave very romantic and a lovely birthday present for my husband, will be back.
Review 21:Poor overall breakfast - poached eggs were served as boiled eggs!
Review 22:Rooms and Wifi Comfortable beds Excellent Air Con Luxury lounge ParkingFacilities in village ( charge ) Fresh Orange juice at Breakfast
Review 23:Insufficient water pressure to have a decent shower.
Review 24:The peace and quiet, the spa and the great roof terrace with wonderful freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast and good friendly service.
Review 25:Having to leave!
Review 26:Friendly and welcoming staff to a delightful hotel.Room and public rooms stylish and tastefully furnished. Relaxing breakfast on the wonderful roof terrace.Bars, restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Great fun.
Review 27:We asked for an extra bed for our daughter, to be fair it was short notice, however we were the following day charged €60.00 + €12 to park car and finally €1.00 to organise a taxi, left a small bitter taste
Review 28:nearly everything
Review 29:The walls are too thin, we could hear other room's noise (TV, music, ... even conversations)
Review 30:Everything was perfect. The stuff were very kind and helpful, the room was clean and the bed comfortable.
Review 31:The hotel itself is beautiful, breakfast is delicious (and included in the price!) and, although we didn't get around to using the spa, it looked lovely. Walking distance to several restaurants. The Aguiclara opposite is very good & does a great G&T!
Review 32:Extra charges which is upsetting when paying a lot for the room to begin with. Parking is 10 euros a day in a very awkward car park and the dog was 20 a day. Breakfast was nice but very limited and we weren't given any choices - just presented with a nice plate of cheese, ham and toast. Felt cheeky asking for coffee and orange juice.
Review 33:Very opulent hotel - super décor throughout with great attention to detail. Loved the backgammon and chess tables as well as the whole lounge and open fire. The bed was fabulous and the terrace huge. The spa facilities were excellent - although these do need booking in advance. Super massage! Great late breakfast idea.
Review 34:Was charged additional $40 for my dog and then couldn't have breakfast on the terrace despite being the only customer. Hotel comfortable but very expensive and you don't get your money's worth.
Review 35:Location, Room
Review 36:There is nothing at all to dislike about this hotel
Review 37:A magic hotel right in the centre of Begur. Fantastic building, fantastic rooms and fantastic service with lots of guidance about where to eat and what to do both in town and in the local area. Beautiful breakfast up on the rooftop overlooking the town. A very tranquil and relaxing stay
Review 38:Being out of season the restaurant was empty and we had to order the food prior to the evening. This wasn't a major problem at all and it meant we ate very freshly cooked food.
Review 39:Everything. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. As the name suggests very relaxing.Decor and ambience perfect.
Review 40:Aircon was turned off, presumably because it was the end of October.
Review 41:Location - a few steps away from many restaurants, within walking distance of lovely beach coves and a short drive from some beautiful medieval villages. Staff - very friendly and helpful.
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Central location Beautiful furniture, just like a boutique hotel Fantastic lounge and sitting area Terrace and hot tub We will definitely return
Review 44:You had to book the jacuzzi and it was not available at a convenient time during our stay. Would have preferred a pool.
Review 45:The location in the cute town of Begur was really nice; the room was very nice and the staff helpful. We had no trouble finding a really good place for dinner nearby.
Review 46:One tiny minus - breakfast could do with a better range of cereal and some whole meal bread would have been good.
Review 47:This is one of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. The style and decor of the place is just stunning and so restful with very cool and laid back music playing all around the communal areas! Location just perfect in centre of town. Just go there!
Review 48:Unique decor , friendly staff, great location in the town. Breakfast excellent and the g&t on the roof terrace not to be missed. I would think the best place in Begur.
Review 49:That we didn't stay longer!
Review 50:Lovely hotel, comfortable room, pleasant space and bathroom. Nice staff, hard working. Nice breakfast in a pleasant setting. Easy access to local beaches.
Review 51:When we arrived, the woman at the front desk was a bit overwhelmed and seemed frazzled by the number of visitors that happened upon her at that moment. She was very nice, but we were left waiting for 30 minutes for her to be able to assist us. We saw this happen to the couple after us as well. I think she could have used a little help and maybe having a second person available would have been nice. We were not notified about the parking situation from the site until we arrived. So we were lucky the hotel had an extra parking space available. Unfortunately there was an issue with the garage door controller and so we had limited in/out access. We ending up parking once and not leaving until we checked out. When we went up to the room to use the shower for the first time, the shower started flooding. The gentleman who helped us was very quick and efficient, but as a first impression, it wasn't pleasant on our arrival day. He also left dirt on the floor and towels accidentally after he left.
Review 52:Sa Calma was probably one of our favorite places we stayed during our honeymoon. The front room of the house is absolutely charming and is our bedroom. We saw there is a spa on the bottom floor, but we never got to use it. Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful and very personal. The staff was professional and incredibly kind. And the location was amazing, in the center of Begur! We would have loved to stay here longer!
Review 53:The parking area, which was shared with several other hotels was tricky to get into - so don't take a large car!
Review 54:The hotel is located near to the centre of the village, a short walk from most restaurants, shops and bars, but far enough away to be reasonably quiet. The public rooms are beautifully fitted and spacious, the bedroom was excellent, spotlessly clean, everything worked as it should and with almost all the things you could possibly want. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Virginia, who helped us plan our days, and the charming fellow who prepared and served our breakfast.
Review 55:Virginia was absolutely every travellers dream, pointing all the options not telling but answering questions. The person who owns this hotel is extremely fortunate to have this wonderfully helpfully lady in his employment. To always find a joyful and happy person at the desk is worth gold.
Review 56:Overpriced Very uncomfortable bed; my back hurt every morning I woke up and I'm only 37 years old. Need to upgrade their mattresses badly. Breakfast is just "okay" in the morning. The eggs and bacon are way too greasy. Also it's VERY noisy so if you have a room close to the stairs where they are serving breakfast plan on a rude awakening
Review 57:Gorgeous Hotel in a super-cute town (Begur). Great Location Wonderful Staff
Review 58:Spa little
Review 59:The room
Review 60:Great location
Review 61:Nice interior. Calm Clean. Very nice staff!
Review 62:Good location, nice building. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Unfortunately the room had a very bad smell
Review 63:Stunning boutique hotel in historical residence. Great value.
Review 64:The hotel spa facilities let the hotel down.
Review 65:Hotel room and breakfast were really excellent.
Review 66:First class hotel. Close to town centre. Wonderful breakfast Room very luxurious
Review 67:Pretty town, car park available, stylish hotel
Review 68:Lovely place and friendly welcome.
Review 69:No kettle in room
Review 70:Very comfortable hotel with personal service
Review 71:The private hot tub and spa experience was highlight!
Review 72:Arrived on a Sunday and no welcome briefing
Review 73:All of it
Review 74:The lack of breakfast options
Review 75:The hotel was very nicely decorated and comfortable
Review 76:The only small issue was unreliable internet service.
Review 77:Location is perfect if you like quaint village up on hill about 2 km from beautiful Med coast.
Review 78:Everybody was friendly and welcoming. We loved the lounge area and the character of the hotel, which was very comfortable.
Review 79:Nothing bad.
Review 80:Everything was perfect.
Review 81:Everything The location is great
Review 82:Poor Wi-Fi Coverage
Review 83:Amazing Private Spa Grotto Comfortable Sitting areas Great Location in Begur Wonderful Staff Easy secure parking
Review 84:Clean, lovely hotel. End of season, so few others there, but attentive staff.
Review 85:I would like to have been able to make a hot drink in the room.
Review 86:Everything
Review 87:Nothing.
Review 88:Simply the best hotel I've ever stayed in,by far :)
Review 89:Toilets too small
Review 90:Beautifully refurbished hotel with excellent fittings, tastefully decorated, good AC, comfortable beds, excellent location.
Review 91:Excellent location. Wonderful terrace and breakfast!
Review 92:Reception was slow and parking needs some planning!
Review 93:Good location, fantastic decor, very comfortable rooms and great breakfast!
Review 94:Everything was above and beyond expectation.
Review 95:Wonderful stay! All staff were so friendly and helpful -from Virginia on Reception to the cleaner, cook and young man waiting on the tables at breakfast. Hotel was super clean and so tastefully decorated. would definitely recommend.
Review 96:Not a thing.
Review 97:The entire place is just lovely and within walking distance of everything there is to see in Begur. Virginia was extremely helpful with recommendations for food & sightseeing.
Review 98:nothing.
Review 99:Wonderfully appointed hotel in what looked like an old building but which had been decorated inside with extraordinary modern art. Lovely room with luxurious bath room. Excellent breakfast of mixed meats, cheese, fruits, served individually in their breakfast room next to their roof terrace. Lovely candlelit spa to relax. Perfect staff. Finally ideally situated to walk to all that Begur has to offer.
Review 100:A bit of a tight squeeze to get into the hotel parking. Decor of hotel a bit OTT, too many decorator items everywhere. Not much room to put out our things in the room as surfaces too cluttered.
Review 101:Friendly helpful staff, perfect location
Review 102:Possibly the menu is a little limited and Bistro not always open. However breakfast provides a good variety with willingness to provide any special requirement needed.
Review 103:Breakfast. We would have expected a choice, rather than a plate of cold meats thrown at us by the rather surly male waiter.
Review 104:Beautiful hotel So tastefully decorated and furnished. Receptionist, Virginia is an absolute gem.
Review 105:That we only had one night!
Review 106:Everything! Lovely hotel with attention to every detail. Virginia was the most welcoming host and took great care in making sure we enjoyed our stay. One of the nicest places we have stayed in Spain.
Review 107:Dining was good but menu limited and more international than Spanish; but there are a wealth of restaurants in the area.
Review 108:The public room and bedrooms are superb and vey well kept. Our bedroom was very comfortable the the bathroom in particular was excellent. Bar location is good and the drinks very friendly and extreemly generous , more than one Gin would be dangerous...
Review 109:No bottle opener available to open water/soft drinks in mini bar and no one in reception to provide one. No nearby shop to purchase water. Think they should provide free plastic bottles of water.
Review 110:It's a beautiful house with lots of open spaces to relax and enjoy. Room and bathroom spacious and airy. The rooftop terrace with Jacuzzi and loungers is really great. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 111:For the price of the hotel parking should be included.
Review 112:Hotel Sa Calma is a gorgeous hotel and we had an extremely relaxing stay there. The staff was excellent and made us feel very welcome our entire stay. They have a chess and a backgammon table in a beautiful sitting area and it was great to see my two older boys having a blast challenging each other in a game of chess upon our arrival. My wife and I really enjoyed the use of the sauna both nights--very relaxing. The breakfast up on the rooftop terrace was excellent and once again the staff really did a nice job taking care of us. They had fresh orange juice, fried eggs on request, breads and pastries, jams, fresh fruit, coffee, along with various meats and cheeses. Our favorite beach was only a ten minute drive and they have private parking (15 Euro/day) right next to the hotel. Wi-fi was adequate and if it's not working they'll have to reboot the router for you. Overall a fantastic, relaxing stay at this wonderful hotel. You'll love it!!!
Review 113:The decor and attention to detail made this a beautifully appointed boutique hotel. it is located right in the center of the quiet village of Begur. The breakfasts on the patio are superb with great food selection and quality. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It was one of the most pleasant hotel experiences we've had and we travel a lot!
Review 114:Beautiful rooms and feels like a luxurious bed and breakfast as hotel is small and has fabulous lounge area. The roof terrace is a lovely spot for breakfast
Review 115:This hotel was perfect for our trip. We were so impressed with the decor which was different from any other hotel I have stayed in. Exceptionally clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful
Review 116:The spa looked very nice at the first sight, but was old and with bad function. There are two sauna but no shower facilities or cold water.
Review 117:Cozy hotel close to everything in the village.
Review 118:The water wasn't hot enough in the shower.
Review 119:The personnel were exceptional - so helpful! Decoration was warm andinspired; spa was genial and the breakfast copious - and good....
Review 120:All the staff were excellent, room was very nice and clean, breakfast was lovely on the terrace.
Review 121:Great hospitality Great location
