Reviews for La Maison d'à Côté
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Lovely old, newly renovated house tucked away down an 'impasse', owners live next door. Equiped kitchen, so could cook a meal, teas, coffee provided. Don't be put off by drive into suburbia, it was only 4 minutes drive to a lovely bistro for an excellent dinner. (Details provided by the host) although dogs are not allowed, our dogs sleep in the car and there was a woodland walk just down the road. Highly recommended.
Review 3:low ceilings and low beams made it difficult to move about. Cramped shower room. Power points in strange position. Next time will request 1st floor room.
Review 4:Comfortable bed. Quality towels.
Review 5:No taxi's from town post evening meal, the landlady had to be called to come and collect as too far to walk - which she did.
Review 6:Country-like but close(ish) to town.
Review 7:This is a lovely place to stay, the rooms are extremely comfortable and the owner couldn't be more helpful. The breakfast was excellent and included in the price, we were also able to use the kitchen to cook an evening meal. We wouldn't hesitate to return here again.
Review 8:Very well appointed old French house with a modern twist which complimented the building.Large comfortable room with plenty of wardrobe space, also units and seating. The standard was very good, also kitchen facilities for guests to use which is a pleasant bonus.Madame was very helpful and extremely accomodation.
Review 9:Very friendly and helpful, even suggested restaurants that would be open on a Monday evening. We had a suite, which for the money we paid, was a steal. ideal for visiting Alencon or just passing through.
Review 10:we arrived after a long drive from Bordeaux on a Monday evening and had to drive into Alençon for dinner. Most of the restaurants were closed and we found it a rather soulless place.
Review 11:Accomodation, friendliness, cleanliness and old house. It is probably a good stop over and suited our needs exactly.
Review 12:Beautifully restored old house on outskirts of Allencon but with easy access to a wide choice of restaurants in the centre. The proprietor was very welcoming. Overall this is an excellent overnight stop.
Review 13:Nothing to dislike
Review 14:Excellent location just a short drive from the centre of Alencon. Spacious and stylish accommodation, which was very clean and comfortable whilst being set within a character property. Excellent breakfast and friendly host.
Review 15:Having a tall husband, being up in the roof space wasn't ideal as he kept banging his shoulder on the way up the stairs, even I, at 5'2" had to duck, but a small price to pay as it is a stunning property
Review 16:Amazing old property in the heart of suburbia, which appears to have only recently been refurbished, lovely friendly host, good breakfast
Review 17:Sharing my breakfast table with another guest as well as Owner standing around whilst we ate.i am sure she was just trying to be sociable Even though bookings.com confirmed my room request incurred no extra charge the owner insisted on an extra 10 euros which was disappointing when I asked for a room with high ceilings and got an attic beamed ceiling.fab room but not what I asked for and certainly not a supplement charge.
Review 18:Decor fab
Review 19:low beams and sloping ceiling in the attic room - not good for a six footer. Ha d to drive to restaurant
Review 20:Very French, with enough English spoken, characterful,
Review 21:Head space! The old wooden roof beams meant concentrating in the dark to get to the loo!
Review 22:Beautiful building in very quiet surrounds. Lovely decor, newly refurbished so very clean and fresh. Hidden away with enclosed private parking
Review 23:Just being up in an attic room eve though it was very well furnished
Review 24:This was a very good place to stay for a two night stop over. It in a quiet residential part of Alencon. Parking facilities very good the hosts tried hard and were very pleasant. I was at the top of the house in an attic room. If I stayed there again would ask for a room on a lower floor. Presentation was excellent overall and certainly good value

Review 27:Lovely accommodation, excellent service. Highly rexommend
Review 28:All the above. Nicely renovated building and thoughtfully designed accommodation,a warm welcome and good facilities.
Review 29:Large persons need to be aware of low beams on upper floor - not a problem really.

Review 48:Naught- all good.
Review 49:Superb in every respect. First class house, room, breakfast and hostess. What's more to say?
Review 50:a mile's walk from the town centre - although it was a pleasant one
Review 51:hosts, location, room and food
Review 52:Wi-fi not available.
Review 53:Location, facilities, peace and quiet.
Review 54:Beautiful house and surroundings friendly helpful owner
Review 55:Owner can speak no English, which might be difficult for some. Location is only 5 minutes from town centre, but very difficult to find. The web-site map is fairly useless.
Review 56:Beautiful, small b and b property. Very pleasant owner who couldn't do enough for us.
Review 57:Loved everything! Lovely house, easy biking distance to Alençon - nice to enjoy such peace and quiet so close to a busy town. The owner is exceptionally kind, helpful, and caring. We mentioned that we liked cherries, and she immediately went and picked fresh ones from her tree. She also helped us with car rental arrangements as the trains were on strike. A truly perfect stay. Many, many thanks!
Review 58:From the first moment off arrival, we were greeted with courteous friendliness. Our room was truly beautiful as was the finely renovated French house. Nothing was too much trouble for Madame who provided the most sumptuous Continental breakfast anyone could have! Indeed, we had one of the best night's sleep of our lives.
Review 59:Great setting. Host was very friendly and helpful, recommending places to eat, even got a discount at the restaurant for staying at La Maison d'à Côté. Would stay again.
Review 60:Lovely setting. Beautifully presented. Use of kitchen and sitting room for guests only. Very friendly and welcoming host. It took us about 20 minutes to walk to a restaurant recommended by host. Would definitely stay there again as wonderful alternative to chain hotels at similar price.
Review 61:We were located in the loft and the very low beams were a nuisance.
Review 62:Location excellent for a break in our journey and easily found with GPS. Could easily walk to good restaurants in town centre. Quiet spot even though close enough to town. Very comfortable bed.
Review 63:We just stayed one night and it was lovely. Very nice area for walking and a good restaurant a short drive away. Very quiet and comfortable with a good sized room.
Review 64:A lovely place to stay, extremely comfortable. We enjoyed meeting the owner who was very friendly. Nice to have a kitchen to prepare a variety of drinks, etc all included. Lovely continental breakfast. Now on our list for a future trip.
Review 65:You definately need a SatNav or ability to print out the directions (difficult when travelling with only a laptop) to be able to find the house. This is just a warning, not a critisism. You need to ring on the bell at the back door not the front door ! Perhaps a small sign ?
Review 66:Very comfortable bed and lots of hot water. Friendly and helpful owner. Lovely old house stylishly renovated in an attractive modern style inside. An oasis of country in the middle of surburbia. Quite near to the centre of Alencon for restaurants, shops etc.
Review 67:Large drive and parking, but entrance is via the far door with a small bell. There is no hotel sign. The hotel is house number 3 and the owner can be found at the larger number 5 next door if the place seems deserted.
Review 68:Wonderfully restored middle sized old French house. Staircase seems ancient but beautiful. The decor throughout is tasteful but with the rationed use of bright colours. There is an open plan kitchen coffee, tea and biscuit station for use whenever. Large fruit tree gardens and table outside. Breakfast was generous continental. Very pleasant owner. Highly recommended for the price.
Review 69:The house is charmingly renovated and our room was full of light with two big windows. Nadine is a very kind hostess and breakfast was delicious. The house and garden are an island of calm for a traveller.
Review 70:Stairs are gorgeous but winding and low head height on top floor. Difficult to take cases up and down safely.
Review 71:Fantastic decor. Beautiful building and garden. Dedicated kitchen, dining room, lounge, garden, bbq all for guest use.
Review 72:My room was on the second (European) floor, reached by an unevenwinding staircase -- would be a problem for someone with walkingdifficulties. Watch your head on the low beams! Considering that thehome has a huge garden in the back, it is sadly devoid of any welcomingflowers on the front.
Review 73:The farmhouse room was a mix of rustic and modern, well equipped, andcomfortable. The bathroom was especially nice. Nadine greeted me warmlywith an offer of tea and cookies, which I enjoyed on the terrace, andbreakfast was first-rate, with homemade jams to go along with the breadand croissant.
Review 74:nothing
Review 75:The friendly welcome and excellent breakfast. The lovely garden and the use of the well equipped kitchen. The rooms were clean and well presented. It was a lovely start to our holiday
Review 76:The very friendly welcome from the owner who was very attentive but not imposing during our stay . The furnishings and decor are excellent more like an expensive boutique hotel than a well prices B&B - While the location was a bit remote it is a very easy walk into the town center - really great we fully recommend it
Review 77:We found it a bit hard to find (mostly our fault- we didn't take a map!)
Review 78:The owner is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ideal and the room was extremely comfortable. Free wifi
Review 79:The setting was lovely, off a fairly residential area tucked away, very quiet, absolutely ideal for an overnight stay on our way to Bordeaux. The room we had was tastefully decorated like the rest of the property. Breakfast was good & the idea of a communal use kitchen provided a bonus. Note; I would suggest if you have any mobility issues the stairs could be a problem as quite narrow and winding. For us this added to the charm. A great find, would definitely stay here again!
Review 80:The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We had access to the kitchen and were able to make tea. The owner was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good. Great for an overnight stop on our way south.
Review 81:Nothing!
Review 82:Clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished, contemporary in a very old building - extremely well done. Very pleasant owner, excellent facilities - nice to have a small kitchen to use, useful to have a fridge/freezer to store stuff in overnight. Very nice traditional continental breakfast - wonderful croissants. A very pleasant stay. Restaurants a very short drive.
Review 83:Excellent room and facilities. Set in quiet garden location. Access to fully equipped kitchen. Hostess, who lives in adjoining house, speaks very little English, but does all that she can to make her guests feel very welcome.
Review 84:The owner was very welcoming and very attentive. Continental Breakfast was very good. There was free use of the common kitchen to make hot drinks. The room was clean and comfortable. A TV was provided in the bedroom along with free wi-fi. Plenty of parking. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 85:Location, Alencon is a beautiful town, our room was extremely comfortable, beautifully furnished & very large. But best of all is the welcome from Nadine she is very attentive & friendly.
Review 86:it may be necessary to ring the proprietor when you arrive as they live next door- not a problem though
Review 87:Everything, it is a very well renovated and decorated property (since August 2012) and the rooms are superb with excellent quality fittings and very comfortable bed. Drive into Alencon is only 4 minutes- nice restaurants.
Review 88:Leaving
Review 89:Beautifully restored old house in a quiet location yet a short distance to alencon centre ville being able to make tea or coffee in a communal kitchen and sit in a beautiful garden was a welcome bonus.
Review 90:nothing really, the stairs are quite steep, so just a note on booking .com would help some people and the signage on the building could be better, but the owner, Nadine, did say that the outside wasn't quite finished.
Review 91:The design and layout of the room, the attentiveness of the owner and within easy reach of the motorway. Lovely place to stay.
Review 92:Lack of signage on the building. Would not be suitable for anyone who cannot manage stairs.
Review 93:rooms are to a very high standard, hostess very helpful, only recently opened so all felt new and fresh.
Review 94:no restaurant, no room tea making facilities
Review 95:quiet, comfortable, good standard

Review 99:Friendly, helpful owner.
Review 100:A long walk into Alencon to find a restaurant
Review 101:The grounds and the room
Review 102:Owner. Beauty and design of space

Review 105:Clean and good for the price paid.
Review 106:There is nothing to dislike!
