Reviews for La Chaumiere
Review 1:The cuisine was too fussy, with too many different concoctions, mousses and flavours. At the end of the meal our taste buds were very confused - which was a real pity.
Review 2:Rooms were clean comfortable and quiet, staff were very obliging. Restaurant service, quality of food and wine was good.
Review 3:Being charged for a 'no show' when La Chaumiere had admitted there had been an error on their booking system- we are still awaiting for this to be resolved- nearly 3 weeks later.
Review 4:The dinner was of a quality you would expect of a Michelin starred restaurant except they used long life milk for the coffee at breakfast.
Review 5:The breakfast was expensive and had little on offer but what we had was excellent. The separate toilet in the bedroom would benefit from a small basin for rinsing hands.
Review 6:The whole overall impression of the hotel was immaculate and the decor was beautifully thought out. In particular the dining room enfolds you in its loveliness. The room was very comfortable and the food we had was of high quality. We arrived too tired to partake of a large expensive supper but were offered an excellent snack meal in our room.
Review 7:No air conditioning A little noisy as rooms face the car park.
Review 8:Great shower. Excellent restaurant. Clean, comfortable basic room. Easy WiFi service in rooms.
Review 9:Although perfectly comfortable, the bedroom was small and cramped. Most of all, I disliked the restaurant. Even with a Michelin star, the prices were high and the decor was something from fifty years ago, including what looked like lino flooring.
Review 10:For a 3 chimney Logis, the price of the fixed menu dinner @60€ each was excessive, 2 or 3 items were off and the manner of the senior DR staff was rather supercilious and the whole impression given in our view was pretentious. We have stayed in many Logis over the last 20 years and have experience of many better value hotels.
Review 11:Gardens and room , but no aide conditioning and no fans available, temperature in the upper 30s!
Review 12:Dinner in restaurant far too expensive for the amount of food. No choice for breakfast. Staff not particularly attentive. Poor value for money. No explanation of hotel facilities. No facilities in room to make tea or coffee.
Review 13:Accessibility and location
Review 14:All was splendid.
Review 15:The quality of the accommodation and the top quality nouvelle cuisine restaurant attached were both far above the standard we had hoped to find in such an easily reached out of town centre hotel. Just Excellent!
Review 16:Nothing negative but rooms only suitable for a short stay. would have to drive to find economic family eating spot
Review 17:location ideal stopover when traversing France friendly, welcoming staff excellent but expensive dinner - lovely outdoor dining terrace refreshing swimming pool supermarket petrol refill just 10 minutes away
Review 18:No basin in toilet.
Review 19:We stayed here en route to alps. the staff were excellent and the decor of the room was very stylish. Comfortable big bed. We didn't have a chance to eat dinner but the breakfast was very nice.
Review 20:Excellent hotel half way between Calais and the Alps. Only about 3 miles from the A39 motorway. Brilliant restaurant - expensive menu (65 Euros for two courses plus cheese and pud) but well worth it. Don't expect to understand the menu! Just go for it.
Review 21:Food was to salty. Explanation of dishes was rattled off. Mediocre wines are priced sky high. Rooms are basic and we were kept awake by an army of mosquitoes.
Review 22:Bathroom a little bit tired - peeling paint etc but otherwise good.
Review 23:Comfortable room - superior double although small. Had special requirements for storage of bikes and hotel accommodated this perfectly. The meal!!!
Review 24:We had booked this hotel because it had a well recommended restaurant. When we arrived, we were told that it was closed; and later that it was always closed on 1, 2 and 3 September each year. There had been no notice of this on the web when we booked
Review 25:The room was extremely comfortable and clean; the receptionist was friendly and helpful.
Review 26:Room was tight and narrow. Luckily there was room behind door to putsuitcase. Breakfast was very limited. For 12 Euro a juice, a croissantor roll and jogurt (don't like being dictated what I should eat forbreakfast! I prefer to choose what I can eat in the morning and jogurtisn't one of those things). Only 1 cup of coffee was offered! Had topay 4 euro more for 3 small pieces of cheese. Breakfast totallyoverpriced! Would recommend somewhere else for breakfast.
Review 27:We arrived late in evening and had wine in bar and were surprised with awonderful salty delicious Snack!
Review 28:Found the menu for dinner and breakfast far to expensive, and choicelimited, feel that they need to have another menu as well as al carte atperhaps a cheaper price, 55euros per person for dinner is expensive.
Review 29:Nice clean rooms and comfortable bed.
Review 30:Dinner is extremely expensive, which is a bad surprise when you just plan to have a stopover, and it comes unexpectedly, since it is not announced. It is gastronomic and very nice, but you are forced to take it since there is nothing else on the menu. Also breakfast is extra.
Review 31:The hotel is OK, quiet location, comfortable rooms, helpfull staff.
Review 32:Over the top quasi modern design 13 euro breakfast not good value formoney. Restaurant closure on Sunday and other evenings meaning a driveinto town 4 km if you want food
Review 33:Extremely comfortable beds Excellent bathroom etc. nice pool
Review 34:The mosquitoes!
Review 35:I was contacted prior to leaving the UK as to whether we required dinner on the evening of our arrival - very thoughtful and appreciated.
Review 36:The meal was superb. Haute cuisine served in delightful garden restaurant. One course after the other of interesting and beautifully prepared dishes. And after all that we still slept very well, not having to battle with digestion all night like we have done after other meals en route!
Review 37:Nothing!
Review 38:At least our fourth stay this year and didn't think things good get any better but the chef excelled himself on Wednesday night. I think maybe the best meal I have ever eaten.
Review 39:We have always stayed there in the Winter and it is always really cozy. However it was disappointing to find that on a lovely, balmy, July evening it was basically the same formula without the log fire. There was no option for dining al fresco. This is not for lack of facilities. There is a lovely private garden, a swimming pool and a sizeable outdoor dining area had plenty of empty tables and chairs but no staff or clients. This could be a wonderful facility but it seemed the only option was a little terrace for light snacks or drinks at the front of the hotel, next to the car park and on the main road. Such a pity.
Review 40:We've stayed in this hotel many times. The restaurant, though expensive, is very good. The rooms although they are small have every comfort and the staff are always welcoming, helpful and friendly. If you're travelling from Calais to the Alps, Italy or the South of France, this is very well positioned for the motorway.
Review 41:A bit too far from the town centre to walk in easily but quite easy to park when you get there. Slightly on the expensive side but you get what you pays for!!
Review 42:Outstanding gourmet stile restaurant with quiet rooms, outside eating on the terrace, swimming pool at the other end of the leafy garden and convenient parking set in a pleasant outskirt of this attractive town. Pleasant helpful staff and very modern well equipped bedrooms and nice lounge.
Review 43:Excellent Michelin 1 Star Restaurant!
Review 44:The execelent restaurant.
Review 45:nothing
Review 46:a stunning, wonderful hotel, fully deserving of its Michelin star, and without thestuffiness and pretension of other starred restaurants
Review 47:Room full of Mosquitos. Got 3 bites on my face!
Review 48:Helpful staff Swimming pool
Review 49:Mosquito invasion at night and no means by which to discourage them!
Review 50:Lovely swimming pool
Review 51:Informal arrangements and time of eating in a Michelin 1 Star restaurant with quick professional service by well trained staff
Review 52:Could not safely open window at night...no air con
Review 53:Stylish
Review 54:Breakfast was over priced , for 13 euros is was to be frank a rip off.
Review 55:A fantastic meal in the restaurant.
Review 56:the food location & gardens
Review 57:rooms were a bit tired dining room lacked atmosphere
Review 58:innovative cooking friendly service nibbles served with house cocktails
Review 59:Limited breakfast choices Bedroom rather small
Review 60:Friendly staff Good bathroom Comfortable bed Private parking Wifi
Review 61:Food was amazing as was the room.
Review 62:nice interior Excellent food in the restaurant, amazing offer of local wines on the menu.
Review 63:The Pasteur menue was delightful and excellent value for money.
Review 64:very good bedding, swimming pool and friendly staff. all great. near motorway.
Review 65:Mosquitoes in the room and no net nor repellent Previous guest bath towel forgotten in room Bathroom basin stuck
Review 66:Friendly staff Comfortable room Excellent cuisine
Review 67:Food- Pompous presentation of a clash of impossible flavours, dressed to impress but doesn't work
Review 68:Swimming pool
Review 69:Great restaurant
Review 70:We booked this hotel (family room for 3 adults) in NOV 2013 and got our booking confirmed. At the day of arrival at the hotel (early JUN 2014 around 17:00 h.), we were informed that the hotel had cancelled our reservation at 12:00 h that day for unclear reasons. Staff was arrogant and not at all customer oriented. They had booked us in another hotel, but booked a standard two person room. Thanks to booking.com the issue was professionally taken care of. Your warning; La Chaumiere is not a reliable hotel !
Review 71:Maitre d' slow in taking orders but once order taken, the service was fast and good.
Review 72:The dinner was fantastic and the staff pleasant, professional and friendly. The room was small but quiet and completely adequate for an overnight stay.
Review 73:Arrived early hours of the morning. Easy arrangements for access to the room even though reception closed. Clean and comfortable room with double bed and and good size bunk beds. Nice continental breakfast. About 3-4 hours drive from the alps. Well signposted.
Review 74:The restaurant was a wonderful surprise and joy. Certainly not cheap, but most definitely special. A great way to mark the start of a holiday if driving down to the ski resorts
Review 75:A real gem and very good value. We stayed for one night at the end ofOctober en route to Annecy and the Jura region. To begin with the hotelwas very easy to find (a few minutes from the centre of Dole) and thereis ample free parking. It is a very cosy hotel and our superior doubleroom was very comfortable with a very modern en suite. We chose to havedinner in the restaurant (a la carte) and the staff were very attentive, friendly and impecable. The food was exquiste, delicious and a feast forthe eyes - merci bien Joel! The breakfast was typically French - simplebut very filling. We will use the hotel again, it ticked all the boxesfor us, especially as Dole is a very pretty old town and well worth avisit if you are passing through the area.
Review 76:It gives a hostel type impression. The door towards the car park should be closed all the time for the security reasons.
Review 77:It is a beautiful little place. The room was very clean and comfortable with a very good shower.
Review 78:Would of liked tea/coffee making facilities in room.
Review 79:Comfortable bed, this was great as we had had a long journey from Calais. Staff very polite and friendly.
Review 80:Would of liked tea/coffee available in the room.
Review 81:The staff were very friendly. The room was small but modern & comfortable. A very relaxed place to stay. The dinner in the evening was superb.
Review 82:Avoid room 20, that is the loudest, despite being declared as superior double room. We could hardly sleep. Also, we were assigned to inside dining room and an unattractive table facing the sliding doors to kitchen, despite having reserved on terrace. Only after discussions were we allowed to terrace.
Review 83:Good food and nice dinner once we were allowed on the terrace
Review 84:Tiny room and bed for the money. something out of “changing rooms“. Food whay too expensive for us. will stick to campanille from now on.
Review 85:Good location for uk -Italy trip. Pool.
Review 86:Be aware that the hotel is some way out of the town, ten minutes drive away.
Review 87:Good parking, friendly staff, nicely furnished bedrooms, lovely breakfast with local ingredients.
Review 88:Location is out of town in a non descript area. The room was a quadruple with bunk beds for the kids but it was too small, hardly room to stand between the beds.
Review 89:The pool was lovely. The restaurant and food were amazing and the kids options were still gourmet but appropriate for kids.
Review 90:Triple room was very small, sofa bed was made up into bunks but the Lower bunk was very space restricted. Restaurant offered only a gourmet experience at night which meant we had to go out for dinner which wasn't a pleasant experience in Dole, a dilapidated town centre
Review 91:Breakfast
Review 92:Comfortable room. Great shower. Delicious breakfast. Restaurant closed on a Sunday night but great Chinese restaurant within walking distance, where we had delicious meal and v hospitable hosts! Would definitely visit again
Review 93:Prices for this property are on the high side! For everything considered "extra" there is a price-tag. You order eggs for b/f an you receive exactly 1 egg at 3 Euro. You want a second orange juice for b/f and the answer is "no there is only 1 orange juice per person".
Review 94:Front office manager transferred us FOC to the city center.
Review 95:Restaurant a little pricey. Hotel hard to find (Google instructions not of the best)
Review 96:Room good; walk-in shower excellent; restaurant food and service also excellent.
Review 97:The rooms are not very spacious. The menu card in the restaurant is limited, you are forced to take 2,3 or 4 courses. It is a tendency you see in many French restaurants. The quality of the expensive dinner was good, but we were not happy with the "overservice" of too many employees. The next evening we had a pleasant and nice dinner in Dôle for half the price. They ask you to pay for the parking € 10,00 on their own premises, when I asked for it was skipped. Too much profit oriented.
Review 98:Food of high quality, but at too hihg prices.
Review 99:In spite of booking a table on-line when we got to the hotel the restaurant was shut. Had to go to a bistro for a mediocre meal in the pouring rain!!!!!
Review 100:Very good breakfast.
Review 101:This hotel a real gem , the room was very good, staff friendly, the restaurant, was fantastic excellant but not cheap, well worth a visit And we will return
Review 102:The bed was very soft, which made it rather uncomfortable.
Review 103:A perfect place to stop for one night, to break up a longer journey, for example. Amazing restaurant, superb food (dinner), great service, also a very nice breakfast.
Review 104:A handbasin in the bedroom toilet would be a good idea.
Review 105:The quality of the overall design which welcomed without overwhelming and in the dining room was especially well judged. Both supper and breakfast were of the highest class, and service was immaculate.
Review 106:Nothing, though the meal was relatively disappointing compared to other Michelin starred restaurants we have eaten in, both in the UK & France
Review 107:Comfortable room at reasonable price
Review 108:I found it quite incredible that to order eggs, ham or cheese with breakfast , generally served as part and parcel in other hotels charging far less than the 12euro's here, incurred an additional charge. I was also surprised that there was no facility for making tea/coffee in the room. The tiles in our shower room were very slippy when wet- a hazard.
Review 109:Design. Plenty of comfy armchairs in the lounge and bar.
Review 110:We were running late, and the receptionist phoned us on our mobile to confirm our arrival time, and gave us instructions on how to get into our room if we arrived after reception was closed.
Review 111:Never got to taste the food. Having booked a room in a gourmet hotel anddriven all day across France, it never occurred to me that I needed tobook dinner in advance, and it never occurred to management that I mightbe hungry. We were simply told that the restaurant was 'complet'for a special event and were not even offered room service. In factthere was not even a bottle of water in the room. We were recommendedinstead to a Japanese restaurant! There was one poor hapless girl whoanswered the phones and did reception duty and served breakfast, andlots of gormless men who stood around and did not even offer to carryour bags to our rooms. At the last minute while, after we had bookedelsewhere and were changing to go out, we were told that we could beaccommodated for dinner and it would be 'no matter' to cancelour new booking. Management never saw fit to come to front of house, inthe evening or in the morning before our departure. The hyperbole aboutthis place is not justified its achievement.
Review 112:Fine, well-appointed, designer-decorated modern hotel, but soulless.
Review 113:Excellent restaurant, charming and friendly staff and very comfortably. The bedrooms are rather small but for an overnight stay en route to the Alps, it was perfect.
Review 114:Extra charge for dogs. Rooms not particularly spacious. Rooms certainly NOT soundproofed.
Review 115:Wonderful open log fire in the reception - very welcoming on a rainy November evening! Lady on reception was very friendly. Staff in restaurant attentive. Food & wine excellent, albeit overpriced, but that's what to expect from a Micelin-starred restaurant.
Review 116:the staff seemed a little unsure of their roles - a slightly unneccessary pretensiousness surrounded the provision of what was a totally simple breakfast - it just seemed rather silly and inefficient
Review 117:Lovely rooms and facilities - quite quirky decoration style but a welcome relief from the bland - extremely luxurious feel overall
Review 118:No lift
Review 119:The restaurant, the service and the rooms. It is an upmarket hotel which excels - with minimum staff. It is a gem.The meals and the breakfast are excepytional KHP
Review 120:Lack of facilities for simple evening meal - need to drive 10 min intotown for such.
Review 121:Ideally located midway between the Channel ports and the Alps or theSouth of France. Just a few minutes drive off the motorway beside Dole(East and slightly south of Dijon). Compact but comfortable and wellappointed classic room - smallish but comfortable bed. Very goodvalue. Very hospitable and helpful staff - welcoming fire lit by thetime we arrived. Excellent gourmet restaurant attached but eye-wateringly expensive for those that require only a simple meal. Superbwine list. Simple but adequate breakfast. Secure(ish) parking. We willdefinitely be back!
Review 122:air conditioning would have been beneficial. It also is quite far from the center of Dole
Review 123:we had dinner in the hotel restaurant looking at the menu we were very unsure of the sort of meal we would have it was also quite expensive. However the food was amazing and worth every penny
