Reviews for Hotel Marquesa

Review 1:nothing

Review 2:Location is fantastic: very centric, close to stores, sea front, restaurants. During the night it is very calm Hall is very beautifull and comfortable. Wi fi is very quick on the first floor there is a restarant withlife music

Review 3:The location is perfect, and the hotel is a mix of classic old Canarian with modern en-suite facilities. A good, mixed breakfast is available. Would definitely stay again.

Review 4:Everything was great! It is the best place to stay in Puerto. We have such an amazing time in this hotel! Breakfast and suppers were very tasty and differrent every day! Hotel staff was very kind and attentive. A view from our room was perfect! It is very authentic place. I really want to get back in this hotel. Thank you!

Review 5:poor WIFI The TV's volume can't modify, always only very hot water, for only quickly bath

Review 6:Staff is very good, very equipment , big room comfortable rookm and bed

Review 7:initially there were not sufficient towels in the room and the hot water tap dripped all the time. However the problem of the towels was solved. The tap continued to drip.

Review 8:Initially the room was not satisfactory but on requesting a change we were allocated a nice room with a wonderful view. It was pleasing to be assisted to obtain a good room.

Review 9:- hotel is at the city centre = pedestrianized area (meaning noise) - hotel has many rooms - the building shown on photos is only a part of the whole hotel, thus if you are lucky, you get room with balcony. In other case, you can get a room with a view of a wall. Or crowded street (traffic) just outside the window - in this case, staying in a room without A/C could be really problematic - cleaning service was a little disappointing, likewise condition of the room

Review 10:+ hotel is at the city centre = everything is close enough + helpful staff

Review 11:Food not good enough I'm afraid one out of three evening meals was fairly good! Breakfast good for coffee juice and baked beans. Some staff looked over worked and unhappy!

Review 12:Location for the Town centre is excellent.Hotel has character and is clean with comfortable large rooms.Chamber maids honest and efficient .(I left my wallet on the bedside table by mistake).

Review 13:The room is very basic, the TV is archaic with very poor reception. No shelves in the wet room. If you ask for a Hairdryer or a phone at reception they'll give you one if available, I had no problems. There's a cost if you want to use the safe. No view, just the wall of the adjacent building. You couldn't actually close the curtains as they were too narrow in width. The netting covered the rest which isn't affective when the lights are on.

Review 14:The location and the manager was very accommodating and stepped in when I complained that I had a dark, horrid, smelly room at the back. He then gave me a clean room on the first floor which had been updated. Cleaned every day by the very hard working chamber maid. WIFI was good. I would use the hotel again as lve been reassured by the manager that I wouldn't be given another terrible room. Thank you

Review 15:Breakfast . . .was a lot of choice, but not great quality, would be better to be only a few choices, but good quality

Review 16:Right in the centre, perfect place for a weekend break, no noise even though in the centre of everything

Review 17:I was not impressed by the breakfast. The hot food was not hot at all and the choices were limited.

Review 18:The location is superb. The outside Terrace bar was great and the young lady who was on duty was very friendly and efficient.

Review 19:Smoking in the outside restaurant as this denied us the opportunity to enjoy the music. Limited variety of food at both breakfast & dinner.

Review 20:Wonderful location, near the sea & old town. Enjoyed the balcony with ocean views. Helpfulness & friendliness of all hotel staff.

Review 21:We got a strange feeling about this place, first we dropped our bags at the room but after returning the door was wide open, nothing stolen though (we were 100% sure we locked the room). Second day we were in the room some random people entered our room with a keycard they got to view the room (we were sitting at the balcony) this is a big mistake by the reception guy. The people who wanted to view the room were also shocked that we were there and ran off. Reception guy acknowledged he made a mistake and thought we already left...

Review 22:Nice location in the city centre! Room is clean

Review 23:No tea making facilities in the room The rooms had NO air-con - the south facing rooms were like an oven and sleeping was difficult. The plaster coving collapsed in our bathroom (twice) and we had to move rooms.

Review 24:The stylishness of the building. The location of the hotel.

Review 25:View from the room (windows from the opposite building). Breakfasts are fine, but a lot of fat things.

Review 26:Location is really good, not far from the beach. Old historical building, nice staff.

Review 27:The bedrooms are a bit basic, but the were not expensive, so you cannot complain!

Review 28:The location was wonderful. Price was excellent and gave good value for money

Review 29:Food was very basic. Could only done in a hot airless dining room when non residents could dine outside. Pool area was bleak.

Review 30:In the heart of Puerto de la cruz

Review 31:Booked two of the most expensive rooms luxury double for one night only but they wasn't finished ! The air con hadn't been commissioned television not wired no mini bar or tea making facilities shower all loose and water went everywhere and they would not refund any money so had to put up with it so didn't book any more nights!

Review 32:Perfect location

Review 33:Breakfast was totally boring but in total was OK. We didn´t try diner in the hotel restaurant but very closed there are a lot of very nice canarian restaurants.

Review 34:Swimming pool on the roof was execellent, location is brilliant - on the main street, parking 200metres also great - nice walk through centre

Review 35:I would have liked a kettle in the room, as we like an early cup of tea in the morning before going down to breakfast. The tea at breakfast was awful (bring your own teabags) and the 'orange' drink was undiluted and also tasted dreadful. I would have liked more choice of breads such as croissants, and proper marmalade, not the runny stuff they supplied. And a better selection of yogurts for those of us who do not want cooked breakfast or cheeses & cold meats.

Review 36:The location was ideal, walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. We were in the new build extension and the room was modern, clean, the bed was comfy. Certainly good value for money and will go back again.

Review 37:Someone is definatly needed to attend more to the cooked breakfast buffet.pillows not the best but replacements were instantly provided.

Review 38:Own balcony and small terrace overlooking square.helpful staff at reception.overall very pleasant.

Review 39:Recent renovations have made the hotel a little more modern, but have removed the original charm, especially the inner court yard. The food was OK but lacked variety, with some dishes running out fairly early on in the evening.

Review 40:very well located

Review 41:the room offered when we arrived could only be described as a dungeon &the 2nd room which had to accept had lovely views of a roof &a building yard. It was obvious that this hotel was using your website to dispose of their rubbish rooms whilst reserving the better rooms for there weekly/tourist operator guests. The reception made this quite clear to us &put all the blame on your company whilst making full use of the get out clause such as not all rooms have balconies etc. Wow were we mugged!!

Review 42:the location

Review 43:Very little, I suppose the gym could do with an updating.

Review 44:Great value for money, helpful and friendly staff, great hotel if you are on a budget! Beautiful old style lobby. Nice bar and restaurant. Great wifi!

Review 45:The wifi was poor and only available close to the reception. The restaurant's wifi was working as expected, though. The breakfast was pretty bad. The "juice" from the juice machine was totally undrinkable. Poor instant coffee and no vegetables available. The gym was unusable because the lights wouldn't turn on.

Review 46:The location was good, close to the city center. Very clean.

Review 47:Don't waste you're time making special requests on you're reservation, they are unlikely to be met. Cavernous, cold, unwelcoming public areas.Gravely in need of a major refurb. Bedroom furniture and bathroom dated and tired.( sheets so worn put foot through it.) Towels thin and old and maids seem unwilling to refresh. Same applies to bed linen. You can do better than this in the centre.

Review 48:The location.

Review 49:nothing like the brouchure pictures, areas were not in use due to refurbishement work in progress. very cold and poor decorative order throughout, more like a sixties hostal.Bedroom was basic, tv ancient, no additional power points available to use.

Review 50:breakfast was well catered, and dining room clean and presentable.

Review 51:Limited wifi restricted to reception area, poor quality breakfast but that is common in my experience.

Review 52:Cheap, welcoming, quiet rooms, clean, accommodated my bicycle without a problem. Central location with free parking 800m away.

Review 53:Bathroom was dirty and room was cold at night.I requested room with bath and we had dirty shower with mould.Swimming pool was very cold so we couldn't use it.We went to another hotel to use spa and relax.

Review 54:Allocation was very good, just in the heart of Puerto del la Cruz, 10min walking to food store, pubs and sea front.Hotel looked very nice outside. At night we could hear music from balcony.

Review 55:Though there was plenty, the breakfast was not very well presented, and if you didn't get there early you could be faced with lukewarm eggs.

Review 56:The location is excellent and very reasonably priced. The room was clean and bright with maid service everyday including Sunday.

Review 57:The location is lovely, right by the church and square. The man on reception was very helpful answering questions and helping us. I would return to this hotel again :-)

Review 58:Very poor. Both hot and cold water supply was off for long periods of time each day over my two week stay. Resulting in being unable to flush the toilet or shower! Facilities and furnishings old and to very poor standard. Basically an old hotel building that has not been maintained and needs a total refurbishment. Certainly not up to the three star standard it's registered as. Beds and mattresses were appalling in terms of comfort, I would suggest better would be found in a youth hostel. The entrance foyer could be described as old, attractive and interesting. However step beyond that, into the real accommodation part of this place and you are not going to be too impressed.

Review 59:Location.

Review 60:having no water in the bathroom for 2 nights was a big problem. We do understand that the hotel did its best to fix it and it is not their fault. However we would have welcome more help and apology from the staff who did not seem to care; and 10% discount - when we asked for a discount was not quite enough. A free night stay for the inconvenience we suffered would be more like it.

Review 61:the location and the front coffee/bar terrace

Review 62:Only very old peple. the owner do nothing for young people. I was in the same hotel 18 years ago. It was much more younger people and action.

Review 63:It is in the middle of center

Review 64:The bathroom was a bit dated...the shower was'nt very good.

Review 65:Lovely view from room of mount Teide the other side great sea view Basic good value hotel clean and tidy..

Review 66:Breakfast: very poor boiled egg and dried bread, cheap cheese and salamino vegetables ! Photos in the website of an old style hotel do not matchreality; the rooms were at a 'modern' part of the building -looks cheap and naff

Review 67:No air conditioning and room was very warm at night. Also small fresh water swimming-pool was attractive to flocks of pigeons who bathed in it which was off putting.

Review 68:Location in old town near the harbour, bars and restaurants was good.

Review 69:Major renovations of structure to the hotel. Rooms on the 5th floor, were not able to run hot water, Unable to shower due to lack of pressure, for the couple of days we were there. Reception staff were obliging and concerned, but were only able to offer change of room for one couple or use of alternative room, but there were four people in our group. Two rooms on the 5th floor, so no showers during our stay.

Review 70:Excellent value. Superb location. Food simple, plain, but very tasty and ample.

Review 71:beds not very comfortable and food not very hot

Review 72:Very central situation at a very reasonable price

Review 73:Uncomfortable beds, unefficient staff, poor wifi, poorly equiped rooms

Review 74:The location is great

Review 75:Needed more variety at the evening meal

Review 76:Great hotel with excellent location

Review 77:Poor wifi in the room

Review 78:Location, friendly staff, view from the balcony

Review 79:The food could have been a bit warmer

Review 80:The location was perfect

Review 81:Sometimes a bit to noise ( guest and people outside)

Review 82:Beautiful hotel in a great spot

Review 83:Room a bit small

Review 84:Good location; quiet

Review 85:Couldn't find the swimming pool

Review 86:It was peacefull Would return

Review 87:There was nothing I didn`t like.

Review 88:The view was fantastic. It was a quiet place. The reception was beautiful.

Review 89:No wifi in bedroom No UK TV channels

Review 90:Staff, location, decor, food

Review 91:breakfast not very hot if you are having it cooked

Review 92:peace full

Review 93:Bed was uncomfortable, majority of guests are very old.

Review 94:Good location, nice breakfast, nice view from both sides of hotel.

Review 95:The room (basement)

Review 96:All eating areas

Review 97:Åroblem solving was poor or never happened.

Review 98:Good location

Review 99:It was clean and bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water at all times of day. Breakfast OK for money paid with a choice.

Review 100:Room very small & bed ,only 1flat pillow each

Review 101:Location

Review 102:Requested double room but was shown three twin on arrival. Very very disappointed.

Review 103:Water pressure was great

Review 104:Dark unappealing room, nasty breakfasts

Review 105:Location and availability of wifi

Review 106:Hot water was tepid No extractor fan in bathroom

Review 107:Old features nicely preserved

Review 108:nothing we didn't like!

Review 109:Everything

Review 110:Building work going on all day very dusty and loud .swimming pool not good.

Review 111:Must be the worst hotel breakfast we experienced and we were there 3 nights, no excuse for the lack and poor selection on offer, even the bacon rashers were displayed stewing in water, coffee and tea OK.

Review 112:Location and that's it.

Review 113:Rooms were fair, but needed a renovation; swimming pool too. Breakfast was not terrible...

Review 114:Very centre located hotel, rooms were calm even if looking to the street, small balcony, very nice entrance.

Review 115:Great location in the very centre of the city close to the seaside, few minutes walk from bus stop, Lago Martianez and both city beaches, shops and restaurants. There is a nice terrase with live misic every evening and fantastic atmosphere with 17th century furniture in the hall...

Review 116:First allocated room had drain problem Early morning noise from kitchens.

Review 117:Location Central Old part of building Bath plus loads of hot water Helpful reception Reallocated to another room without problem

Review 118:A brilliant location in the old part of town, great reception area to sit in. Nice to sit outside and watch the world go by in the patio Café / Restaurant. Nice flamenco band playing in the evening with great atmosphere.

Review 119:We changed room once because of a bad smell, and the second room was not much better. There is no air-conditioning and the air is quite damp - towels never get dry.

Review 120:Location (50 metres from the beach, in the middle of the historic centre); friendly staff; beautiful entrance hall.

Review 121:The local church bell is ringing to 11 pm and in the morning from 7 am. If you want to get a good night's sleep don´t forget earplugs! Beds are also not much comfortable because of an old spring mattress. And cocktail Caribe dream was realy bad dream for me, because it tasted just like the juice from the automat at morning breakfast, which is quite awful.

Review 122:Very beautiful interior and surroundings with a realy magical atmosphere - especially at night!

Review 123:Should only have 2 stars. Food terrible. Accommodation very basic.Beds very hard.

Review 124:Location good, but little else was. Beautiful old building, but very under utilized. Could be fantastic if refurbished to at least 3 star level.

Review 125:Corridors needed vacuum cleaning. WIFI was not working in the breakfast buffet restaurant.

Review 126:Marquesa is located central to everything: bus, beach, restaurants. It's a fascinating building established in c. 1700 thus including a historic aspect. WIFI in the central hall was free and worked very well. The room had plenty of space, a window facing a sidestreet and a nice bathroom. There is often traditional guitar music and song in the outdoor restaurant facing the church.

Review 127:The room facilities were very basic in this day and age and the decorwas tatty. There was no fridge to keep our cava cool in, no wifi in therooms only in the foyer and no air conditioning: although this was not aproblem for us, it would be in the summer as the windows were singleglazed. Some visitors would find having to pay for the old-fashioned tvannoying - we didn't bother! Signage and information about the hotelfacilities was non-existent - we only found out about the gym byaccident and how to get to the veranda and swimming pool was not cleareither. Parking would be a problem if you hired a car.

Review 128:The wonderful building provided an exotic base right in the centre oftown. The staff were friendly and obliging. The breakfast provided agood start to the day. There was entertainment in the bar in theevening. We were allowed to keep the room an hour longer even though thehotel was busy and our luggage was guarded until we left in the lateafternoon.

Review 129:The breakfast is base around German taste. The cooked eggs, bacon, baked beans were cool and there was no hot plates. To toast bread was set in a corner and very time consuming, due to the out date equipment.

Review 130:The central location

Review 131:Excellent as always! Many thanks to the gentleman on Reception who helped me complete my N.I.E. application form.

Review 132:Well located

Review 133:The meals were same almost every day.

Review 134:Friendly staff, very very good location. Quite silent at night, the hotel is really old, but nice.

Review 135:The rooms we had were quite noisy

Review 136:Very Central in the city nice views

Review 137:Rooms are a bit basic but perfectly adequate.

Review 138:Relaxed charm, low key, central location, very good food (evenings), old world reception

Review 139:No Wi-Fi in the room!!! Food is pure, not much vegatables!!

Review 140:Good prsonal, very friendly!!! Good placement in the town!!!
