Reviews for Hotel Aigua Blava
Review 1:We did not have a bad experience.
Review 2:We loved the location, the grounds and views are beautiful, everything well kept and maintained and such a good relaxing hotel. The staff were excellent - helpful, friendly without being too familiar, knowlegeable too. I think this hotel deserves more than four stars.
Review 3:Swimming pool---not as photo.Too many beds too close together-most uncomfortable. Dining room too large very bright in the evening,no atmosphere.Maitre D' arguing with guests over allocation of tables causing guests to feel guilty at sitting at a table which had been"booked by another guest",when the management stated that pre-booking a table was "NOT ALLOWED"!!! Tips were handed to him to reserve a table!!!!! Location no good for walkers.Walk to Aiguabla va beach horrendous!!!
Review 4:Room very comfortable. Reception staff-very pleasant & helpful.
Review 5:We booked 2 rooms with garden/parking view. The moment we arrived we got 2 rooms with view over the street.
Review 6:the surroundings of the hotel and the food
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:The hotel is located on a priviledged spot, overlooking the sea and the beautifull callas. The rooms are very confortable, not big thow, but they do have a nice view of the sea. The town of Begur is about 3 km away, and it is worth a visit. Breakfast buffet is excellent, with a wide and good selection of dishes.
Review 9:My only criticism is not of the hotel But the inaccurate description on your website. You state that ALL rooms have a balcony and I booked with you expecting one.In fact I had to pay an additional 50 Euros a night to get one.
Review 10:The staff are very hospitable and helpful and the food (particularly the breakfast) excellent..
Review 11:I have difficulty walking and asked for a walk in shower - got a bath . The room we were allocated was down a very steep hill which I only managed to go down twice . We were told there was no other room available . Not suitable for invalids !
Review 12:The view
Review 13:Dinner was very expensive given the mediocre quality of the food and the time we had to wait for it to be served.
Review 14:The location and the fact that we were upgraded to a room with a view of the cove.
Review 15:Lack of shuttle bus service in September a problem as taxi service (whilst friendly ) is expensive for going in and out of Begur and there are delays sometimes waiting on taxis. As hotel closes in October, could shuttle bus service not be maintained till end of season?
Review 16:Beautiful terrace overlooking sea
Review 17:Inattentive staff to new visitors. People we met there who have been coming there for years receive excellent treatment.
Review 18:Beautiful property and excellent location.
Review 19:no prior warning of the dress code for men dining in the restaurant- long trousers only (unfortunately not my husband's normal holiday attire)
Review 20:great location and good service
Review 21:Restaurant in the hotel is quite expensive....
Review 22:Great place to stay if you are traveling with a car as it is not so close to the stunning town of Begur ( about 10 min drive). Beautiful well-kept hotel on the a charming little bay with clear water. Best thing was we got upgrade to a room with a balcony to the beach which was beautiful and probably made our stay there so magical (along with the delicious breakfast)
Review 23:- very dated (standard) bedrooms - threadbare carpets - old noisy toilet flush - poor sound insulation - basic shower fitting and curtain, mould - some staff are not up to scratch
Review 24:- the sea views - the terrace for breakfast, lunch, dinner - the new (superior) rooms
Review 25:Set menu was not available on the terrace, inside only. The room had a fridge, the addition of tea and coffee making facilities would have made it perfect.
Review 26:We paid for a sea view and it was stunning. The room was bright and fresh. All the hotel facilities were clean and well managed.
Review 27:Difficult to get a drink during the day other than at the pool bar. The breakfast was great but dinner in the restaurant was disappointing, ostentatious and very over priced.
Review 28:Location was great.
Review 29:Price is overvalued. Staff no experienced, you expect some local advice and you can do better in internet. Service overall is not what you expect for what you paid.
Review 30:The location is the best you can get.
Review 31:The location is fantastic. The facilities were excellent and the service was outstanding from check in to check out. The staff were happy and helpful.
Review 32:Reception staff could be more welcoming when you first arrive, efficient but not warm. First impressions. They were perfectly ok otherwise.
Review 33:Breakfast, location,
Review 34:The aren't many options if you dont want half or full board - almost no places to eat around and its boring to always eat at the hotel I think.
Review 35:Fantastic location, lovely pool and friendly staff plus you eat your breakfast looking at a 5 star view.
Review 36:Not close to any town or walkable to any services
Review 37:Great view from balcony for breakfast, short walk to nice little beaches and bay, nice hotel pool with bar
Review 38:Hated that we had to leave!
Review 39:Breathtaking views, warm staff and a fantastic location. We spent mornings watching fishing boats head out while quiet beaches filled up along the Aiguablava coastline. Breakfast was designed to satisfy the cravings of the hotel's multi-national clientele. We took the poolside barbecue lunch daily, which always offered something new: grilled cuttlefish, giant prawns and pork loin one day; filet mignon, tuna and shrimp another. The pool is large with ample seating, a friendly bartender and towel service. There's also table tennis and a grassy badminton court. We never left the property in our three days there. It was hard to leave when we did.
Review 40:Rooms are old, carpets stained and look much worse than the photos. Quantity not Quality sums this place up. Very expensive with a trashy clientele.
Review 41:This part of Catalunya is breathtakingly goregeous. The landscape outside the hotel is incredible.
Review 42:We had a twin room with the beds pushed together but only one bedside table. They couldn't provide another one. Bathroom was small and in need of refurbishment.
Review 43:The staff are delightful, professional and friendly. The terrace is a pleasant place to eat, overlooking the beautiful little bay with its clear aquamarine water.
Review 44:There were two really annoying issues for a hotel at this high price range: The room and its surroundings had a really bad smell coming from the sewage system, and the WiFi simply didn't work. The signal was very weak in the room, and in the lobby it still didn't work well even though the signal strength was OK.
Review 45:The hotel location was very nice, and breakfast was excellent.
Review 46:Bed was a little bit hard and staff in restaurant seemed a little exasperated. Otherwise it was brilliant.
Review 47:Breathtaking location, quaint and with character. Incredible breakfast and lovely restaurant. Great pool and a perfect end to our Spanish honeymoon.
Review 48:Situated in a little corner of Paradise! The hotel is charming and only a few metres from an idyllic cove where the sea is blue and clear. Most of the staff were very friendly and the food was good. We would definitely come here again.
Review 49:We loved everything about this place. Amazing location, great layout of the hotel and facilities, lovely room and balcony - perfect for relaxing. Friendly staff and great food.
Review 50:The beaches are overcrowded, and there is little undeveloped countryside. But bathing off the rocks is exhilarating .ver
Review 51:Outstanding service and very friendly, but totally unpretentious atmosphere
Review 52:Food was disappointing at dinner waiter only offered Price fix menu and then we found out they have three menus to pick from.
Review 53:Good area close to many beautiful beaches.
Review 54:The peacefulness and beautiful surroundings. Small beaches in bedded with a lot of cliffs reaching the sea. Probably one of the better places I have found. You need a car and there are no shops, but you don´t need that in this place.
Review 55:Room was on a second floor in a building located on the top end of the property, being the bottom end the ocean side. No elevator. Heavy suitcases were taken up the stairs for us without requesting it.
Review 56:Location, view from the hotel, food!!, service, close to so many interesting sights, parking, all around terrific experience.
Review 57:the dining staff. waited forever for a table. then for a table cloth, then for a menu, then to order and then took forever more for the food to arrive. at both meals we finally had to get up and find our check and sign it. strange. lots of staff looking super flustered... and it was not busy at all.
Review 58:decor, and grounds. room was nice and big.
Review 59:Swimming pool bar was closed every now and then. It seemed hotel was managed differently from restaurant. Rooms need more attention to detail.
Review 60:The restaurant and its staff deserves review of its own. Very professional and passion for service and top quality food. Breakfast had a superb offering as well. Easy access to beautiful beaches of Costa Brava.
Review 61:Expensive menu for evening meals with no easily accessible alternative without a car, however if you do not mind a fairly steep 40 minute walk there are attractive eating out options in Begur. We felt rather out of place as independent walkers - the hotel is aimed at those who want pampering and cossetting without having to leave the grounds.
Review 62:Stunning view across bay. Attentive staff. Attractive pool and terrace. Set on a terrific stretch of coastline for walking.
Review 63:- we asked for a couple bed but they gave us 2 individual bed, we complained about it and the just changed the sheet to include both so it can looks like a couple bed, still it didn't work coz always the gap was there. - the cleaning service used to knock on us even with the " don't disturb" sign - depending on the location of ur room wifi is really weak, the garden overlooking rooms, - the room service is really horrible, we ordered 2 dishes, it took them 1/2 hour to bring them, one of the dishes wasn't what we ordered, so we asked to change it, it took them another half an hour to bring it and again the other dish had been already cold at that time, so we asked to cancel the whole order.
Review 64:Location Nice staff ( Luis, Antony, Abel)
Review 65:The location was excellent for us but I cannot remember seeing on thewebsite any warning that it is not a good location for people withmobility problems. A lot of steps and steep ramps.
Review 66:The lay out of the hotel made it feel like a small village rather than aboring rectangle building, lots of character, beautiful beaches.
Review 67:Our room 'this visit' was too small and difficult to navigate, rather cluttered! We are aware you were very booked up but We would have preferred something more spacious. It should have been a single, and could have done without the sofa, But it didn't spoil our stay.
Review 68:The staff are the best in any hotel we have stayed in any where in the world. Without exception they are extremely friendly helpful and feel like old friends.
Review 69:The room which had been recently, and very pleasantly renovated had one serious deficiency. There is not adequate privacy in the bathroom because of a large glass window only parly covered by a mirror. Also the bathroom has no towel rails.
Review 70:The setting, the peace of the ocean, cleanliness and generous nature of the property, staff friendliness
Review 71:Very special surroundings right on the sea. One of those charming and older but not faded accommodations that are on the list of "a special stay". Staff old school, notable Luis, the dinning room Matre, who made you feel special.
Review 72:For moving around car needed, no intro given upon arrival, we had to figure out where the pool and restaurants etc were
Review 73:Good value cava, good food, amazing terrace for breakfast, lovely pool area
Review 74:We found the staff condescending and rude, and there was a leak in our room which soiled the clothes in our luggage. The hotel did refund us 20% of the room cost to apologize, and normally this would not be a big complaint for us, but the front desk and restaurant staff's attitude made parts of our stay unpleasant. The housekeeper who came to help clean up the leak was, on the other hand, very sweet and friendly.
Review 75:The location of the hotel is fantastic and beautiful, and the breakfast they served was one of our favorite breakfasts in Europe. Our room looked out on a cute little courtyard and was a comfortable size.
Review 76:Some room fittings getting a bit tatty, in need of some t.l.c. Other reviewers have commented on shower curtain being not consistent with 4* hotel - but this is not a real issue is it, this is Spain and not some anodyne international hotel. And of course being Brits, we would have liked tea making facilities in room. Extra pillows would have been nice too. Parking was a bit tricky although there were sufficient places. Some reviewers have complained about lack of local restaurants - sure, but there are many great places just a short car journey away (Aigua Blava beach, Begur, Tamartiu).
Review 77:Location (of course you need a car to get here), beautiful setting, magnificent breakfasts (pretty much something for every national taste) + breakfast terrace, swimming pool facilities, plenty of friendly helpful staff, hotel provided pool/beach towels. Rooms are dispersed in various small + large buildings overlooking the bay, so it may be a matter of luck how nice a room you get. We were very happy with both of the rooms we stayed in over the 6 nights. Good Wi-Fi included in room price.
Review 78:Very uncomfortable beds and pillows that didn't allow us to sleep well. Outdated rooms and bathrooms but that you can live with.
Review 79:The hotel is situated in a very, very wonderful place and with higher standard and better staff they could rise the prices a lot.
Review 80:I felt that the choice of food on the dinner menu was limited, but what was on offer was beautifully prepared and very rich. The car parking bays divided by iron frames could be dangerous to less abled persons, and I saw a few vehicles damaged by them.
Review 81:The views from the hotel are excellent. I stayed in a garden view room which was quiet and away from the main hotel. The staff are very friendly and like a big family. The buffet style breakfast is by far the best I have ever seen. The outdoor pool area is fantastic.
Review 82:Main course at dinner one night almost inedible > staff not too concerned when we complained Car parking spaces very tight & not enough of them
Review 83:Room & balcony very good Location Outdoor terrace & pool
Review 84:The only possible walks were up and down steep coastal paths. The swimming pool is salt water.
Review 85:The breath taking location on the water, the quality and comfort of the facilities , very helpful staff and excellent food.
Review 86:You need to be aware that some rooms are down steps and steep slopes, so could be a strain going back up to the main building for meals, although it was good exercise! My own foible: yet another hotel room with not enough rails to hang wet towels and table space to put things on.
Review 87:The setting is idyllic. The hotel is spread over a few buildings around sea coves, giving privacy and lovely views. Our room, down by a boat cove, was spacious and comfortable, with a great bathroom. Staff were numerous and very attentive. The restaurant was excellent, with lavish breakfast buffet and imaginitive dishes for lunch and dinner. We loved it and, although it is not cheap, we will be back.
Review 88:There's nothing I actually disliked. I didn't eat in the main restaurant, but found the so-called "snack menu" OK but not great.
Review 89:Aigua Blava's setting is breathtaking with quite wonderful views from all parts of the hotel and its well - kept grounds. The staff are both very friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to come back again.
Review 90:The view and location were second to none.
Review 91:The location of this hotel is perfect and there are many other lovely things about it as well. As I was with a friend it was just not the ideal place because we felt a little out of place being the only singles there. Parts of the hotel seem fairly dated but the lovely view and service well make up for that. I think it would be the ideal spot to come back summer after summer with a family.
Review 92:The wifi was poor, we were told due to the hotel being full! No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Review 93:The hotel is situated in a beautiful position with lovely views. Staff at reception were really helpful. One can visit Begur where the shopping is good, with a vibrant restaurant/café scene. I recommend taking the boat ride along the coast to see another "perspective".
Review 94:Some of the staff were quite unfriendly, even rude particularly on the terrace for dinner service, I didn't like that there was no where to walk to from the hotel, you had to drive everywhere! I think the reception staff discriminated against people who used booking.com to secure their reservations
Review 95:The views, the outdoor eating, the large deck from the bedroom with great sun and 2 sun beds! The breakfast was fantastic!
Review 96:Breakfast hot food, cold!! Not as good as previous years coffee self service not always working . Poor quality of towels , both in the bathroom and beach
Review 97:Location
Review 98:Dated decor all round and extremely plain in our bedrooms. Cheaper rooms very dull and quite a trek from the main buildings. How about some tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms ?.. we really missed that, having enjoyed that facility in another nearby first class hotel. Restaurant food patchy.
Review 99:Wonderful Location .. Brilliant breakfast .. Lovely pool.
Review 100:Terrace restaurant, told we did not need to make a booking by one member of staff and then told on arrival for dinner in the evening we did. Food was expensive and disappointing. Wifi did not work. We were told this was due to number of guests in the hotel.
Review 101:The beautiful setting of the hotel on the coast. Staff were very helpful.
Review 102:Room was an 80s throwback. Light switch fell off the wall, burgundy stripy wallpaper, broken bathroom tiles. Full board means eating inside, can't eat on the terrace, ok if you like being a second class citizen! Full board food is very poor, limited choices and not worth the money.
Review 103:Really beautiful views, stunning location.
Review 104:Got my car damaged by someone in the car park, spaces are very tight, not really good enough for 4 star hotel
Review 105:Fantastic setting, nice staff, good accommodation & food, breakfastnchoice is superb
Review 106:Gym facility is well below par. On site meals are a bit pricey.
Review 107:Set up of the hotel, consisting of multiple smaller buildings. Staff speak their languages and were very helpful. Breakfast menu. Excellent wifi connection throughout. Wide variety of (English) newspapers. Pleasant (international) atmosphere.
Review 108:I wish the private beach were a little bigger and not so close inproximity to the parking area for boats. The water was crystal clear andbeautiful but I couldn't help to think about all the oil and gasthat must be nearby. To get to the public aiguablava beach is a serioushike. Once you do get there , there are a few cute restaurantsoverlooking the beach.
Review 109:Lots of family activity including nice pool, ping pong tables, badmintoncourt. Staff was great (restaurant serving staff a little slow but Ithink that's all of Europe). It's not a modern luxury hotel butthat's not what's up here in this region. It's very nice, comfortable, with beautiful surroundings. Prepare for a legworkout...lots and lots of steps!
Review 110:nothing, the road to get to the hotel requires some patience to navigate if you arrive at peak "beach goer" hours
Review 111:Views, retro elegance of the rooms, large balconies, being able to hear the sound of the sea in the little cove as we ate breakfast on the balcony, lovely staff and grounds, a fantastic place to really get away from it all, can't wait to go back
Review 112:Spectacular location with wonderful views of beaches. We were kindly upgraded to a sea view room by request and would highly recommend booking these rooms. Great pool for both families and couples alike. Will be back one day with the kids as we enjoyed the R&R at the hotel so much we never made it into Begur. Wonderful stay at Aigua Blava.
Review 113:leaving
Review 114:food the outlook the familly rooms we shared were perfect for the five of us... we had an enormous terrace... The pool and the grounds were spotless.. as were all the hotel rooms...breakfast was fantastic..and the views were fab
Review 115:Very isolated, no where to eat except the hotel, not even a shop! Had to walk at least half an hour to find a restaurant to eat at, make sure you have a car if you stay in this hotel.
Review 116:Beautiful hotel, would have been even nicer if it hadn't been raining the entire time we were here! Not a great place to stay if the weather's not perfect. Would not recommend for younger people looking for something to do!
Review 117:Not much to dislike really - our room was a bit tired, but we weren't staying in the best rooms and the rest of the environment more than made up for this.
Review 118:We stayed one night at Aigua Brava as a break from a week long trip to Barcelona. We were blessed with great weather but the location and staff made for a fantastic stay. Our evening meal looking over the sea was a highlight. A special highlight was a cartoon one of the senior waiters drew for us explaining the key laments to our crème brûlée.
Review 119:The hotel has a perfect location at the coast. The swimming pool with salty water is a delight. The atmosphere is elegant and the personnel is very friendly. Fantastic for some relaxing days at the magnificent costa brava.
Review 120:Bedroom rather small and it would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities.
Review 121:The restaurant and staff were excellent and the views spectacular. Loved the swimming pool and the meal on the terrace on Thursday night was delightful. Would stay here again
Review 122:The location, the staff and the service are excellent. We have been to this hotel 5 times over the last 15 year's and there are a large number of guests who have been coming for 30 years or more, so we are just beginners. I think that says it all. We will definitely be back soon.
Review 123:I loved how close it was to the beaches. Hotel provides a variety of activities for all ages. Great place to spend a few days with your family and friends.
Review 124:if you take advantage of the full board and stick with the plan, you only pay for drinks. Thie food is outstanding especially the fresh grilled fish. Staff handles kids very well
Review 125:We would have given the staff excellent except the lunchtime terrace restaurant staff were being grumpy-don't know why as evening staff and breakfast staff were charming. We had the evening BBQ in the garden, it was all very nice but the cooking was a bit chaotic, maybe early in season
Review 126:We have visited before but its a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. 90% of the staff were charming and the facilities were great. Wifi is free or it was to us but did not work in the "garden rooms"- well not for us, it does in public areas we believe. The small proper beach at Aiguablava is a 1km walk/drive but plenty of parking though not free. hotel has a lovely pool and there is a little beach nearby down some steps if you want to get lots of exercise. If you want to build sandcastles with children this is not the resort but for a lovely relaxation location for several days this is perfect We will go again and recommend to friends.
Review 127:One waiter was particularly curt/rude
Review 128:The position is very good, wonderful views
Review 129:Everything
Review 130:Staff were great
Review 131:Friendly & helpful staff & great location
Review 132:Exceptional location and staff dedicated to pleasing guests.
Review 133:the perfect location and friendly attentive staff. this was our 3rd visit and we will be back
Review 134:Bar was average but no biggy
Review 135:Great hospitality Super hotel
The Fine Print
Please note, drinks are not included in full board and half board rates.
