Reviews for Hotel Elegance Miramar
Review 1:I did not like extremely uncomfortable very old beds and pillows which is a shame because hotel is OK! could not sleep comfortably we were very tried glad to leave.
Review 2:Elegance Miramar is close to the main strip seaside.Nice view of Teide, I liked one of the older Receptionist who was very kind to every guest he looked like the owner but he is only employee very nice hard working person speaks fluent and excellent English.
Review 3:Since the hotel went to All Inclusive the choice and quality of the food has deteriorated. The house wine was undrinkable.
Review 4:Have stayed many times and always get a warm welcome
Review 5:We stayed for 1 week under the "all inclusive". This turned out to be barely inclusive.First off, the food on the buffet is barely edible. We were served the same items day in and day out. "English breakfast" items every morning. Low quality bread, with a 10 minute line at the toaster.Overcooked eggs in a steam pan, both sunny side up and scrambled. the scrambled eggs are likely from a carton and poured out and cooked. the eggs had a starchy texture and were often hard and generally inedible. The coffee and hot cocoa came out of a big machine (self serve), tasted of instant. It was mediocre at best.Teas were available, but also looked to be of very low quality.Lunches were varied, usually including the same lunch meat and cheeses from the morning mixed into some salad along with the boiled eggs from morning. One one day pizza was available. This was one of the better tasting dishes. We discovered many of the leftovers being recycled into new dishes. Quite gross. They serve bananas that are cut in half (too prevent you from taking from the dining area) on the dessert table. The bananas are served through many meal services. We discovered that some had a disgusting MOLD growing on them.Teas, coffees and other hot drinks are NOT available during the day.Only disgusting beer, low quality wines (on tap) and fizzy drinks, cold water and occasionally ice.Hot drinks are only available in the morning.I once tried to get some tea from the cupboard below the coffee machine during a lunch service and was quickly scolded by the host. I was told it was only for morning and that's "why it's down there."The staff, as one other reviewer pointed out are in need of a "personality transplant".The staff are generally grumpy, unhelpful.Unless you are a local. We ordered coffees in the bar by the pool and were sent away with it without the slightest gesture of happiness.
Review 6:This hotel has a great location. The views from the balcony and roof are spectacular. It's a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle. The sound of the ocean at night is soothing. There is a beautiful park next to the hotel, which doubles as a great parking location. The room was tidied up each day, the cleaning lady was always friendly and quick to say "Hola" when passing by with a smile. I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff.
Review 7:The buffet meals were a poor selection, very poor quality and a mad scramble to get food. It was common for 'guests' to help themselves using their hands. Baskets of bread and cakes evidently had 'fresh' put on the top (rolls at the bottom were solid, cakes were squashed). "All inclusive" means you get cheap booze in plastic cups from 10.00-22.00. If not all inclusive you have to pay for drinks at reception and take a receipt to the bar. €1.5 for a cardboard mini cup of coffee made with sweetened milk meant we could not get a drink in the hotel for 4 days. Ever wondered what happened to all those 10" TV's used for games? This hotel has them all. Want to watch their advertised "satellite TV"? Watch Sky News with squiggly lines. No other channels, no chance of changing audio on the few Spanish channels. Leaving property in your room? Maid will leave your balcony door open all day. Free wifi? Yes but weak signal and sitting in the lounge with worn out furniture. Entertainment? Dream on. Go into town? 250 steps down and up again ... or taxis of course. Mugging? Yep, 50 metres from the hotel.
Review 8:There was nothing that I liked.
Review 9:Food was the biggest downside.-meat in particular was sometimes chopped, shaped and reformed! Also, they tried to make "all inclusive" as difficult as possible by serving all drinks in tiny plastic disposable cups - even beer - so you needed loads to have a decent drink. We gave up and went out to local bars where drink was very cheap. Reception staff unfriendly and unhelpful - kept you waiting at the desk while they did other things. Not a great place for British teenagers - most other guests were older people without kids. Pillows really uncomfortable.
Review 10:Located up the hill above town, but a lovely walk through gardens with waterfalls - uphill walk back to hotel would not be good for unfit people. Meant there were great views from hotel over the town and bay. Gardens in hotel nice - spacious feel. Rooms comfortable and large.Good mix of different nationalities. Was good value hotel considering facilities.
Review 11:the personnel at the reception is very unfriendly, but at least the waiters were nice. Wifi only in the lobby, and the dinner should be from 6pm.
Review 12:Nice location with the park around, lot of food, clean.
Review 13:pretty old rooms, with a smell. food choice at "all inclusive" was pretty poor. every morning had "english breakfast" as hot.
Review 14:the location was superb, pretty nice we got a room with an ocean view and it was really better than i have expected, knowing i paid a very low price.
Review 15:Pool to small no background music to listen to not enough seats around pool bar no canarian potatoes at mealtimes or icecream.
Review 16:Room was clean and a good size view was nice
Review 17:Do not go, dirty rooms cold food, one plug socket per room all inclusive a joke bar shuts twice a day my daughter not allowed fizzy pop dye to health reasons was told to drink water during dinner as juice not available the cleaners are the friendliest and one waiter the rest if staff do not know how to smile, no English TV
Review 18:One waiter in food hall, the views were amazing
Review 19:Bar next to the pool does not play any music and they don't do any outdoor party's Elevators takes only two people at the time (both of them:) - which is very funny thing actually and does not effect overall good opinion
Review 20:View and location. It's a beautiful town
Review 21:All inclusive, is poor, its more like full board with drinks included, the selection of food at dinner and lunch was very poor, it was fish and a choice of one other meat, either chicken or pork.... every guest was complaining...
Review 22:Nice views, clean hotel
Review 23:Rooms on floors from 1 - 4 are very old and stinky. Only some rooms were refurbished, those in the main building so the picture of the room is misleading.
Review 24:Food is ok, nice garden.
Review 25:I would like to see the staff a bit friendlier and welcoming. The service was correct but not really more. In the requirements they asked for special wishes and I pointed out to appreciating to have a room with nice views. This was not the case as we had a room with view to the garden and the backyard of the hotel, but I don't complain about it, as I myself work with more hotels and know that sometimes not all is posible. Nevertheless I think, at least they could do a comment on this or then not ask it specifically in the registration sheet when making the reservation.
Review 26:The situation of the hotel right next to the park, which gives possibilities for lovely walks in green areas. Also the views from some points of the hotel down to Puerto de la Cruz are great.
Review 27:You can only drink water at dinner, have to pay for other drinks which we didn`t like
Review 28:We had half board and breakfast and dinner was great (except the drinks) Location was very good, if you don`t mind climbing up the hill when coming back from city centre Reception staff was allright
Review 29:front of house staff are not very friendly, but are very efficient and do seem to have a lot of work do unaided.
Review 30:location, outdoor areas. Large comfortable room, wonderful views.
Review 31:Hotel stuff does not speak much english, however we had english breakfast on menu every day. Wifi is poor and available in lobby only.
Review 32:Room was spacious, bathroom was clean. Nice view of sea and el teide. Good for short stay.
Review 33:Dining room a bit basic. Meals a bit noisy, so too, the bar. Couldn't get used to new idea of paying for drinks etc at reception. Big waste of staff time and paper. There must be a better way than this like just financing this on room numbers.
Review 34:After many years staying at the miramar, just lovely to meet all the same staff again. So welcoming and friendly. Food has got marginally better, rooms are clean, clean sheets etc, changed often. Lovely gardens and location.
Review 35:First of all it should be classed as FULL BOARD WITH DRINKS not ALL INCLUSIVE. We arrived just before 3pm and was told dinner was at 7pm and NO SNACKS available. This ment breakfast, lunch and dinner and that was it!!!! If you missed breakfast you had to wait for lunch! There were people there with children arriving at 9.30pm and they were told they would have to go out to get food as breakfast was between 7.30 and 9 tomorrow. After travelling alday the last thing you need is angry hungry children and then taking them miles just to get a snack, when really you wanted to settle them into bed! Most of the staff need a personality transplant and taught some manners. They were fine if you were Spanish but other than that they ignored you and practally chucked your drink at you. No coffee with meals apart from breakfast and if you wanted a bottle of water you had to pay! Living in Tenerife we don't mind Spanish food but on some days the food was just awful and it was always cold. I think they really need to look into getting a new chef, one that can cook. Dessert was always JELLY, SLOPPY CUSTARD OR RICE, AND FRUIT. You could have ice cream at lunch but not dinner? A few days there was cake or donuts. The only entertainment was a guy playing his organ......to himself as it was so boring people were just talking over him and I do believe on Sat there was a guy playing a guitar but shame we missed that as we went down town lol. There defo needs to be a few changes at this hotel or just make it bed and breakfast with evening meal. The bath was very very slippery and really needs a bath or shower mat. The beds were made every day with sheets changed every 4 days. In all we had a chilled out week but if you want a bit more then go into town and pay a bit more. There are over 200 steps down to town from this hotel but only 3.15€ back up in taxi. We paid for all inclusive but didn't get that!!!!!!!
Review 36:We just wanted a break from Los Gigantes in the South where we live. The hotel was fine nice and quiet which was what we wanted. Situated in beautiful gardens with a lovely pool area which was well looked after. The views were stunning and the park next door was lovely to have a stroll in after dinner and to sit and watch the sun go down.
Review 37:Staff did not even smile or say hello, apart from reception staff. Food not always edible. Pool area rarely cleaned, therefore plastic cups and rubbish accumulated (even if clients wished to dispose of their rubbish the bins were full)
Review 38:The Location. Car parking facility. Request for room overlooking the park was listened to. Friendly reception staff. Room cleaned daily. Value for money.
Review 39:- WIFI quality was very bad
Review 40:+ Nice and cozy rooms for public usage (available for all the visitors) + Wonderful views to the city
Review 41:not very helpful, food not good.pool too small.
Review 42:old facilities
Review 43:Staff didnt say anything for guest who made a party in two rooms almost all night. Poor rooms
Review 44:Free Wi-fi in reception
Review 45:To les of fruit in restaurant
Review 46:Goed vieuw from the room
Review 47:The hotel was spotlessly clean with rooms cleaned everyday . Fantastic views from the pool
Review 48:It looks like a nursing home - too elderly. Everything is old - I think that the hotel is not renovated since its foundation.
Review 49:Food - very good.
Review 50:The staff is very unmotivated. The breakfast is poor. It is an old hotel. The bar is uncomfortable and the life music is just pathetic.
Review 51:The location is great. In the middle of a beautiful parc. Birds singing all day. Just a ten minutes walk through a lovely parc to reach the town center.
Review 52:Coffee only in restaurant for breakfast. Water machine not working at meal times. Only fizzy drinks at meal times other than breakfast. No evening entertainment when we were there ( over the Easter holidays!).
Review 53:The man selling the excursions, very helpful. Reception staff helpful. Relaxed atmosphere around the pool.
Review 54:The Food was awful, the Room needed a Renovation and proper Cleaning, Service was poor
Review 55:The view and the Space around the Hotel, nice Parks, very Green and silent
Review 56:Hotel staff not friendly at all.No coffee served after dinner ---had to buy coffee in the bar served in plastic cups. The bar itself was very dull --looked more like a conference room.
Review 57:Location---- pool area was very attractive with nice views.Food was very good choice and excellent value. Room was spacious and nice view.
Review 58:faded glory..Very unfriendly and unwilling and rude reception. Cramped rooms, old furniture in the room, very bad bed, small old and unconfortable. First they give us a room with mold on the bathroom curtains, it was cold and all we got was an old blancket. Only 2 days later after pressering the very unwilling receptionist we got an new room wich was better but still with outdated furniture. there is only WIFI in the reception area. You have to pay for everything adintinonally; a hairdryer, the jacuzzi...
Review 59:the view is nice, friendly cleaning staff. Next to a parc
Review 60:An uncomfortable bed - not being able to get a cup of coffee when I wanted it and in a cup - in theory it was available but in practice it was not
Review 61:The quality of the food - the swimming pool and the grounds
Review 62:I arrived hot and sweaty after taking longer to get from Tenerife Sur tothe hotel, than the flight from Manchester. The Reception, whom I paid196 Euros, (Cash!)for 4 nights, full-Board, said I wasn't entitledto the free Bar! (Two late-middle-aged men) Said "Let me get ontoyour computer, and I'll show you my Confirmation. They gave me theyellow wrist-band. When I went to my room, (104) there were no blanketsor duvet on either of the twin beds. Went to Reception, told him, (thesame guy) there was no bedding. He said half an hour or so. Didn'thappen! Next dat go down late morning, to tell him no bedding, sameresult. I'm waiting in all this time. Then speak to two separateChambermaids. One can't come, the other an older lady, said theyhave to wait for an (un-named) Superior to tell them to get my bedding.Getting very pissed-off! So go to relax, look around the gardens, takepictures. Stlil not done. Late afternoon of second day of a four nightstay, am returning to my room, and see two Chambermaids, 40 feet from mydoor, speak to them, and one says blankets are called "Manta"and goes to a cupboard 40 ft from my door, and gets two"Manta" for my room. 22 hours after my arrival. The fact Ipaid with cash, might be the reason for the amateurish, nice-little-earner, stratagem. But every time I went into the Dining room, would getan intrusive Spaniard, asking my room no! Finally, same fellow addressesme in rapid Spanish, which I don't have, and I replied"English! Please!" No more nonsense from him! But if that wasmy Hotel, I'd sack them on the spot! He was one-finger on thekeyboard, booking-in, 5-7 minutes to book-in each guest! On my lastmorning, returned key, was a different man, on. No problem! Will onlytransact through pre-paid Plastic, if I stay at any Eleganze-chain,hotel, in future. Entertainment was a man with a keyboard and a trumpet!Asked for music, what else was on? Nothing!
Review 63:The gardens are superb! Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise) outside my ground-floor. They take 5 years to flower, and one has to prune-out theflowering heads, to force continued flowering)(no sea-view, that I askedfor) The Pool, The large lounges. The Food! The predominance of uk andSpanish guests. The Chambermaids Service.
Review 64:Lack of fridge in bedroom. Quality of food - ample but basic. Staffapart from Reception and Chamber Maid rather surely. No information packin bedroom, rather atiquated tv without remote control. Parking on siterestricted.
Review 65:Set in attractive location. Value for money hotel without frills.Cleanliness of hotel in general and especially bedroom. Acess to area ofnatural beauty namely parkland with watter features. Not a prentioushotel in any way. Free bus service to Town centre.
Review 66:NO TV!! I did report this at the desk, it was noted BUT nothing happened!! Thankfully we did not have a lot of time on our hands. A great pity that no facilities are available to make tea/coffee/hot chocalate - this would reall make the room `GREAT`.
