Reviews for Parador de Aiguablava
Review 1:Disappointed to find our junior suite was below the level of the car park. Wifi poor and the reception staff unwelcoming
Review 2:Tranquil location with stunning views of the sea.
Review 3:Dinner! Very poor and let the place down.Breakfast was better but other paradores do it better.
Review 4:Stunning location and views. Good sized room - we had a superior room - with lovely jacuzzi bath.
Review 5:A tenger közelsége, a napfelkelte a teraszról. A szoba elhagyásának késöi idöpontja. The view for the sea, the sunrise from the balcony, the late check out time. La vista al mar, el amanecer desde el balcón, el difunto hora de salida.
Review 6:Staff a bit glum
Review 7:Must be the best location in Spain, a beautiful piece of coastline. I left my purse behind and had it sent on to me which was done very efficiently.
Review 8:It is not a cosy hotel, my impression is that this is a ood hotel for sunny Summer days and long evenings but for dark evenings in October it just didnt feel cosy, no curtains on the windows left a blank, black feeling The staff were ok but not very friendly
Review 9:stunning views over the sea, lovely beach
Review 10:The rooms were fine, but for the price we were expecting something more than just fine. The whole place is a bit dated, for example there aren't enough electrical outlets in the rooms to recharge iPads, iPhones etc. and, moreover, the outlets are not well located for that purpose. Parking is a pain, especially during weekends; there are just not enough parking spaces and clients end up parking along the access road; that is not the mark of a topnotch hotel. Coffee served at breakfast went from just ok to watery; luckily there is a big Nespresso machine in the room.
Review 11:The location is fantastic. Our room had a beautiful view, was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast is not cheap but the quality and the variety are amazing; everyone will be satisfied. It is served in a dining room with great views on the sea. Wifi is ok.
Review 12:We arrived the day after the season closed and all the nearby restaurants were closed at night.
Review 13:The position and building were fantastic. The views were spectacular.
Review 14:Food average and some staff e.g reception not very helpful or welcoming. No free bottled water in room on arrival which for the price i would expect.
Review 15:Location wonderful
Review 16:Front desk staff is not very helpful if you are an English speaker with limited Spanish. We had a small issue with the final bill and stood in silence at counter for a full 20 minutes while clerk worked on computer to correct error but did not keep us apprised. When we had asked for advice about paths/trails to walk, we were simply handed a map with very little information. One of us speaks French well and the other has some Spanish and usually at hotels we have done well. Our two Parador experiences on this big trip were disappointing in terms of the service we got from the concierge.
Review 17:Stunning location --- even for the area. Beautiful views from most areas of hotel, including every room.
Review 18:The breakfast/dining is a typical Parador (government run) set up. Nothing to write home about. Skip the dinner. The reception staff is hot or miss, especially the younger generation. Definite opportunities in customer service training. The beach is tiny and a steep walk down. We went to Llafranc.
Review 19:The rooftop suite is a 60's glossy modern chic luxury retreat. If you can afford it at €500+ do not compromise. The jacuzzi is a large travertine tub with a gorgeous view. Make sure you face West. The service at dinner very attentive.
Review 20:The parador has a sterile feel to it and some of the front desk staff weren't the most welcoming.
Review 21:Loved the views, proxity to the beach and the very large room. Breakfast was great.
Review 22:The hotel overall is great but for the pricing i found it very outdated. Bathrooms are outdated and the room deco also.
Review 23:The best part was the location. The breakfast is great also.
Review 24:I felt that the restaurant space needs attention, beautiful setting with huge windows to take in the view but no fresh air, felt stifling. Staff in restaurant need to clear tables after breakfast sittings much more promptly.
Review 25:I loved the location and the ample space the Parador provided.
Review 26:The parador was a dream. Some people claim that it needs a facelift, but they've completely missed the style and charm of thehotel—modern, clean, beautifully designed, a hotel of another time. Thestaff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was perfect, with lots ofvariety (although never enough greek yogurt), the room was large with aview worth dying for (room 225). And the beach—THE beach. Havingtraveled around Costa Brava, the cove of Aiguablava is hands down thebest, with natural sand and a wide cove for swimming in. I highlyrecommend this hotel.
Review 27:Dislike is maybe the wrong term, so let's say, what would Isuggest…a massive investment in better pillows on the bed. A must. Anice to have would be a step up in the mattresses. I like hard, this maybe a bit more aggressive than my preference. Lastly, I would notrecommend this property for people with mobility issues as the stepsdown to the cove are a bit tricky, however, if lazy, one can alwaysdrive from the parador parking lot down to the beach parking lot.
Review 28:Breakfast and half board really poor value for money (although real orange juice for breakfast and reasonable variety)
Review 29:Location is stunning. Rooms and premises are very nice. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 30:The food and service at the restaurant was average but great food is just a short walk away so that should not put you off staying here.
Review 31:The setting, views and proximity to Toc Al Mar were fantastic. To sit on our balcony and overlook the rugged coast was a beautiful way to start and finish each day.
Review 32:Surprise about the sea view (we paid high price to have a nice sea view, but at the reception they told that only some rooms at floor 2 have great view, others look at the bay or sea view is blocked by trees), fairly poor internet (pulsating signal), difficult parking, in-room safe requires a credit card/any card with a magnetic strip (not handy if you go to a beach).
Review 33:Great location, very friendly staff, nice breakfast, good service (e.g. free towels for pool and beach, also we asked if it's possible to make tea in evenings, and they delivered a kettle to our room), nice beachfront (but small and fairly crowded).
Review 34:Wifi was marginal. Food not bad but has been better. The loss of the Chiminea is catastrophic as it is this type of 60s design feature that absolutely made this hotel. They might even consider putting one back in!
Review 35:Location outstanding. Views world class. Service good. Great rooms. Bond Villain's Lair in appearance.
Review 36:Room characteristics are better described through the Paradores official web page rather than the Booking webpage. If you want to be sure, you ´ll get the room you have exactly wished (concerning view or double vs. separate beds for instance), you ´d better use the Paradores web page.
Review 37:Lovely comfortable rooms with plenty of space. The views from the terraces are fabulous & the location is awesome. The staff were very helpful and spoke English.
Review 38:- "It is not possible" to have breakfast on the terrace even for extra pay, it was a great dissapointment for us because we came to Spain for a weekend to feel the sea and not to sit in the enclosed space with air-conditioner; - No towels near the pool (we were asked to go to the reception although a pile of towels was near the pool); - Rude personnel at the dining room (only one woman, but we don't want problems for her, that's why we don't name her); - A lot of people on the beach near the hotel in summer (it has no relation to the hotel, just impression), BUT there are a lot of alternative beaches nearby with no \ less people.
Review 39:- Splendid view; - Good (even very good) breakfast; - Convenient parking near the hotel; - Сleanness in the rooms; - Begur is great with its beaches and the atmosphere, but we would never return in this hotel, because of the service, although they are lucky to have such a location.
Review 40:I felt that dinner was overpriced, and they put some kind of salty Mackerel fish in my "fruites de la mer" raviolis. The Seagulls can get noisy at night.
Review 41:Even though they put me in a smoking room, and I don't smoke, everything was lovely. The bathroom was very clean. Their breakfast buffet offered abundant choices. They serve some good local wines.
Review 42:The hotel pool was unheated and therefore too cold so swim in on the28th May - the day I arrived but had warmed up with in the week by 2ndJune! A 4 star hotel pool really should be fully functional year round. The single beds and pillows are bloody awful. Going from sleeping in asuper king at home to piddling low level 3rd rate bed single bed withrubbish bolster or square pillows was a nightmare. Why do the vastmajority of rooms have single twin beds???? I know that the clients areusually rich elderly but surely they can't find these bedscomfortable either. Anyway those were the only two negs I could find inwhat was otherwise a fantastic experience in Parador Paradise. Mind youI was there out of season before the place was maxed out in July &August. I would guess the mid to end July would be even better as thesea would have been a bit warmer then too.
Review 43:Amazing location, my room had a view to die for. Some very nice, friendly & helpful staff. I can't comment on hotel restaurantas I had room only and didn't eat in the hotel for b/f lunchor dinner.
Review 44:Poor bar service in the lounge (in fact no service for us although others were served with no wait). We finally went to the bar to order a drink the staff disappeared as we approached and never returned... gave up trying and bought wine from a supermarket to drink in the room before dinner for the next 2 nights.
Review 45:The setting. Spaciousness Quality of furnishing Peace and quiet
Review 46:No bad experiences.
Review 47:the view from the hotel down to the clips.. phantastic restaurant staff.. good food at 4.pm..friendly may I say... that the Parador of Mazagon get a nicer playa and pool area... to spent some days in the sun.
Review 48:they were sadly building above us and the noise was terrible. We will always make sure in future that there are no building works near the room
Review 49:the views and good food with vegetarian options
Review 50:Breakfast pricey at EUR18 pp
Review 51:Fantastic location, Mid-century design, Terasse, great beds, surrounding region interesting, rooms spacious with good sized balcony
Review 52:Parking. Need more and better parking spaces.
Review 53:Spectacular clifftop location; great value for money; few minutes walk or ride to a wonderful beach; good meals, including a great breakfast buffet.
Review 54:The parking could be better organised.
Review 55:The position, the views, the room and balcony, the food, the staff, the area. The hotel was well kept and clean, the views second to non and the whole experience was just what I expected. I first saw the hotel in 1966 and had always wanted to go back. I was not disappointed.
Review 56:Dinner was not to my liking. Very nouvelle cuisine which meant tiny portions. We sat down at 8 pm and I got my starter at 9 20pm!! My main course had no veg or potatoes included .Overall very poor value in an excellent hotel.
Review 57:High standard of accommodation and fantastic views of bay from our balcony . Breakfast was exceptional and of high quality.
Review 58:The food in the main restaurant was. Dry good but could be more varied. Didn't seem to be many local restaurants nearby although we were there in later September (some May have been closed for the season) and we didn't do much exploring at night (so maybe we missed them).
Review 59:The location and associated views were wonderful. The hotel itself and the room were also great - very well kept.
Review 60:We took the superior room and it was well worth the extra money. Huge room and bathroom. The beach is beautiful and coastal walk around the bays was fun.
Review 61:30euro per head set menu let down by an inedible main course (veal). Not what we expected at this level of hotel. Staff efficient but indifferent. On paying a £203 bill for one night the receptionist was unable to turn from his computer to bid us farewell.
Review 62:Spacious comfortable room with balcony with views of the bay, luxurious bathroom fully provided with large towels etc.
Review 63:That one could not breakfast or dine out on the terrace. Children disturbing the peace at the pool No tea making facilities in the bedrooms
Review 64:I liked the location, the soroundings, the bright, airy, comfortable rooms, the friendly helpful staff the peace, despite the busy weekend, it happened to be.We enjoyed feeding the seagulls and the resident fiesty cat.Breakfast was well done, great variety and plentiful amounts, very good hot coffee essential for my wife if the coffee is only warm its a bad start to the day.
Review 65:Only blip is parking, many cars, not enough spaces, but we managed.
Review 66:This Hotel was perfect, we needed a rest, with good food, wonderful views, comfortable beds, it was a magic two days.
Review 67:very dated hotel, badly in need of a big makeover.Made hotel both a bit dated by about 20 years and rooms bit shabby. Staff whilst not unfriendly certainly did not go out of way to provide excellent service. Restaurant prices bit high compared to nearby locations....Governments should never run hotels
Review 68:Great location
Review 69:pool a little cold
Review 70:superb views of the sea on the south east side of the hotel and the harbour on the north west side. Choose a harbour side room for evening sun on the balcony. Good beach restaurant. Spacious rooms.
Review 71:Beach crowded but not surprising as peak holiday time. Disappointed that the gym is still closed although advertised on the hotel information. The service in the hotel's Marivent restaurant by the beach was offhand and slapdash although the food was excellent.
Review 72:Beautiful location, wonderful views from all rooms, excellent food and service.
Review 73:This Parador really lived up to expectations. Beautiful location, excellent facilities. We had a superior room which was great value for money - huge room, jacuzzi, mini gym. Buffet breakfast & evening meal good too.
Review 74:The hotel is in desparate need of an upgrade - the look is very datedand many amenities are not functional (if you are someone who likes towork out on vacation, beware - the gym is closed.....I Thinkindefinitely.). The beach is a public beach - it is lovely but small andvery crowded. If you want to rent a beach lounger you have to do so aday in advance. The one swimming pool on the property is extremely coldand you must get (and return) the towels for the pool at the lobby frontdesk. There is no concierge and the front desk staff unfortunately areno able or equipped to function in that role. Be very careful and scanyou final bill closely - they have an interesting accounting system thatI am sure does not benefit the guests. I truly hope Parador puts somemoney into this property because the setting is fantastic but the hotelis 3 stars at best.
Review 75:The setting is exceptional - the hotel is beautifully situated on a rockoutcropping with water on 3 sides. Incredible views from all locationswithin the hotel. Dinner at their beach restaurant Marivent was amazing.
Review 76:Not blown away by set menu at main restaurant.
Review 77:Breakfast was great & views stunning. Great walks around the coast with little beaches to dip in. Beachside restaurant was amazing.
Review 78:Some staff are a bit surly. Kind of feel like you are inconveniencing them if you ask for something. Wifi connection didn't work. Drinks at the hotel bar were quite expensive
Review 79:Great resort, in a fabulous location. Great views from all areas. Good food, Miravar restaurant on Agiua Blava beach which is run by the hotel is excellent. Swimming pool was good and not too crowded even though hotel was fully booked. Very clean. Modern designer furniture. We traveled with a baby and my father who is not very mobile and both were catered for very well.
Review 80:Hallway floors that dipped with each step and felt as though they were rotting Restaurant characterless at night
Review 81:Large rooms, if dated Balcony with view Extensive breakfast buffet
Review 82:Dinner on half-board was only moderate and service frankly was only moderate with several mistakes. If I return, which I may well as position so good, I would not do half-board.
Review 83:Great site and location on headland with rocky coastline on one side and small sheltered sandy beach on other. Decor, although modern, gave an air of space and peacefulness. Good breakfast. Nice traditional swimming pool and terrace. Bar Terrance for peaceful evening drinks etc
