Reviews for La Almunia del Valle
Review 1:Everything! The welcoming staff that treated you as a valued guest, to providing information about all of the offerings, to the fantastic view, to the excellent breakfast, and the good price for the optional supper. Nice music in the dining/living area, to the relaxed atmosphere at a 'hotel' with a different attitude and amazing feel. It is a bit remote from the city, but that is mostly the beauty of this location.
Review 2:Not a single thing is not to like.
Review 3:Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent food. The best we have had ever maybe. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. Well and very tastefully designed room.
Review 4:Connectivity was a major issue and very frustrating. Breakfast was a bit inconsistent.
Review 5:Rural setting, friendly and very helpful staff. Beautiful setting and tastefully decorated rooms and public area. Some great restaurants in the village below.
Review 6:Amazing location and the meticulous way in which the property was designed and kept. The interior decoration - done with taste, style and cheer. Amazing breakfast! The old Olive tree to admire. Seeing shooting stars at night. The dedication and kindness of the owners. Thank you so much for accommodating our needs. This was the best hotel we have ever stayed at.
Review 7:A perfect stay in a lovely location in the hills above Granada. There was a real feel of a family run quality boutique hotel with nothing too much trouble and smiles too. I hope we wiil return.
Review 8:Amazing facilities, comfort and service. Great location, just a short drive from the city of Granada. I wish I could have stayed longer and I will definitely try to stay sometime again in the future.
Review 9:Quite difficult to access although owners provided clear instructions on how to find the hotel. At top of very narrow mountain road. Once there views and hotel make the trip worthwhile
Review 10:Fabulous food, extraordinary views of Sierra Nevada and warm hospitable staff. Well designed comfortable room and lovely grounds.
Review 11:It is quite a walk down an unlit path to the nearest restaurant so we took the car and had to forgo a glass of wine on the night the hotel restaurant was closed.
Review 12:Beautiful and peaceful location. Friendly helpful staff- Maria gave us maps to help us with walks and a trip to Granada. Amusing and very cute pet dog roaming the place. Breakfast served on the terrace was fantastic.
Review 13:Wi fi in rooms would be good. Road from the village is a bit hairy but part of the experience.
Review 14:Felt like one of the family. Outlook spectacular. Food at dinner was excellent. Beautiful farmhouse environment.
Review 15:The evening meal was, in our opinion, over-priced and we felt we had more choice in the local town at a fraction of the time. Unfortunately, the local town was down a steep hillside and a taxi would be needed for the return journey.
Review 16:Very clean and well equipped. Very attentive staff and owners were very keen to fulfil any need.
Review 17:We didn't like monachil town very much but it was a short trip to Granada. It would have been nice to have the option of a smaller dinner as we felt we didn't want such a huge meal every night but there wasn't much choice in Monachil.
Review 18:Fabulous staff and amazing views. The interior design is second to none. Room 12 was just the most perfect view ever. Fantastic hikes in the local area. Very relaxing stay.
Review 19:Nothing, WiFi worked fine each time we logged in on the network in the restaurant.
Review 20:A lovely environment with very friendly staff. Hospitality on the highest level! Because the hotel ''just'' has 15 rooms, you get perfect service and special attention from the hosts. Good food, good location!
Review 21:The location was amazing. Each room was beautifully decorated with amazing views from the balcony. Although there is no formal menu the food was outstanding with the Rosemary chicken being one of the highlights. Staff were excellent in every way
Review 22:The only thing I didn't fancy was the crazy mountain roads to get you up to the hotel itself. They're steep and narrow, but once you're up there, it's well worth it!!! There are little signs at many intersections in Monachil for Almunia del Valle, so if you're in the vicinity, you can't really miss it.
Review 23:Loved the owners, the grounds, the view, the sumptuous & plentiful breakfast, gourmet dinner, poolside honesty bar, spacious chic & rustic room décor. The way the morning light dances through the trees & property is magical. The twinkle of patio lights & candle lights on the terrace for evening dinners is so romantic! The soft sounds of jazz, classical guitar or flamenco music can be heard on the terrace. You can also hear the sounds of goat herder bells moving their flock in the afternoons in the valley. The owners are passionate about their hotel, they put a lot of love into every detail.
Review 24:Super location with super view on the mountains! The hotel manager adviced is to make a 2-Hours walking trip, which we did. It was an excellent combination of little waterfalls in the river, canyons and stunning views over the mountains! He provided is with the map. Further on, the view from the swimming pool was amazing as was the view from our room terrace! At the pool, there was a little self-service bar that was confidence-based (you indicate your consumptions yourself). We didn't participate to the dinner (we went to plaza san Nicolas in Granada for a view on Alhambra, that was very nice) which was a 3-course menu for EUR 30 pp (no drinkt), a little expensive, but probably value for money which we could derive out of the breakfast that was very good and exclusive! There is spent a lot of time in details, e.g. Artificial cascades next to our room spreading a relaxing sound. One tip for the management: Maybe a limited menu 'à la carte' for dinner instead of 3-course menu? Buy I understanding then it would lose its exclusivity since the number of guests are rather limited. Conclusion: EUR 145 was not cheap, but it was definitely worth it! During our stay in Sevilla, chipiona, Tanger, Gibraltar, Marbella, Monachil, Benidorm and Valencia, we stayed al several hotels of 3 to 5 stars. This hotel in Monachil wirths FOR SURE 4 stars + ! 3 stars doesn't give a fair view of the service and luxury to expect!
Review 25:La Almunia del Valle is a fantastic small hotel. It's off the beaten track, perfect for a relaxing break, and is only a short drive to Granada. Owners Patricia and Manuel are superb hosts and every member of staff works hard to make your stay special.
Review 26:The greeting we were given on arrival was second to none and the warm, friendly hospitality continued throughout our entire stay. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, the views are amazing!!
Review 27:Road access very narrow ( fine if you do not meet anyone coming in the opposite direction), with few passing places. Very limited food available in hotel on Sunday night.
Review 28:Loved the room and the hotel's location - the food for the evening meal and breakfast was excellent. The owners and the staff were so friendly and the pool was perfect with the wonderful hot weather. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 29:The La Almunia is an excellent lodging! We loved the rural location. The view of La Montanya is unmatched. Manuel & Patricia take excellent care of their guests -- no requests were too big or too small. The rooms and common areas are extremely well maintained -- very clean! The pool is perfect, especially on hot days. Breakfast is very good and quite adequate in every respect. The dinner meals offered on-site are also quite delicious and prepared with care and attention. La Almunia is very child-friendly, and because of it's rural location, is quite peaceful and relaxing. What a great place. Thanks La Almunia. Nicely done!
Review 30:No wifi in rooms, poor phone signal all everywhere
Review 31:We loved the setting of the hotel among the hills with beautiful views! Owners & stuff extremely nice, family approach
Review 32:Internet was only available at the upper terrace due to its location.
Review 33:Super location, magnificent views.Owners treated us like long lost friends. Exceptional food, widest variety for breakfast.Great swimming pool to relax.
Review 34:unfortunately we got really annoyed by flies and wish the staff would have given us a fly-swatter. Also the air conditioning stopped working in the middle of the night and it got far to warm in the room. The man at check out wasn't very friendly. I understand we 'only' stayed for one night but shouldn't you be nice to every customer?
Review 35:Really nice modern room. Stunning views. Nice breakfast.
Review 36:If I was being picky I would have liked in-room WiFi
Review 37:The place, the food, the view! Only about twenty minutes from the top of the Sierra Nevada and 30 minutes from Granada. Great walking in Spring if you want it
Review 38:Dinner was fresh and tasting really good. However, we told the waiters and management on several occasions that I could not eat everything, but they kept serving me food I could not eat. If I said something about it they would replace it but it was a but exhausting. Furthermore it's really a pity (but understandable!) that you cannot eat in the hotel on Sunday. The menu (35 euro for 5 courses) is really value for money and much better quality and taste then compared to most other restaurants in Andalusia.
Review 39:Welcome by the owners was great! They checked regularly during our stay if everything was great. Views from the terrace are beautiful. Breakfast is original and really good. Common areas have good facilities. Rooms are comfortable.
Review 40:Word of warning - because of the grerat location some room s are accessible only via steep and uneven stones steps so advise when booking if you cant cope with that. Those rooms have the best views.
Review 41:Great location with stunning views but only 20 minutes from Granada's Alhambra. I cant speak highly enough of the location, the staff and the food (dinner on request).
Review 42:Great staff, always available and gave us really good suggestions. Beautiful place feels secluded without being isolated. Our room had a beautiful balcony with a view to the the mountains.
Review 43:Although it is away from down town and better u drive, It’s fine if u don't mind taking taxi to anf fro while the owner is kind enough to arranage it.
Review 44:The hotel is prefect, including the environment, service and food. The owner is kind enough to find the way to settle our luggage storage in down town after we check out. Of course we can leave luggage inthe hotel if we don't mind returning back .
Review 45:We loved the location, amazing views! The facilities are great, comfortable and clean. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The food was great. Will definitely recommend it to friends and family and will hopefully stay there again sometime in the future.
Review 46:Our hosts greeted us in such a nice, friendly way, dinner made of delicious homemade dishes. The breakfast buffet is just as delicious. Starting the day on the terrace, enjoying the sun and the magnificent view was perfect! Our rooms were cosy and I really appreciated the way they were decorated. I recommend a wonderful 2-hour walk just 2 minutes away by car.
Review 47:Not easy to find first time- make sure you follow directions they give you, including pictures. Wifi is not great because of the mountains. We stayed over the winter, so with only +5C outside the room floor was cold and we had no slippers and not enough rugs to cover the tiles.
Review 48:We were taken care as if we were some VIP guests. The hosts are superb. We stayed 2 nights in the superior king room with an amazing view of the mountains through a glass wall. Very comfy with a good night sleep. Breakfast was yummy and varied - Spanish tapas style - everything homemade, including deserts (for breakfast!). Very tasty dinner too ( not included in the price) cooked by the hosts. I certainly recommend this place as a romantic getaway wihin conveneint distance from Granada.
Review 49:Patricia and Manuel are very nice host for their guests with a personal touch. Nice and quiet surroundings. Breakfast and diner are delicious and of high quality.
Review 50:challenging mountain access road
Review 51:phenomenal staff that was exceptionally friendly and helpful, remote location to get away from city life, gourmet meals, very sophisticated cultural collection of books, art and music
Review 52:Our bathroom had a damp and drain smell that had been attempted to cover up by air freshner - it didn't work. The water for sink and shower was barely warm. Dinner was good but food over salted .
Review 53:The dining room and food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. The whole place had a unique feel - like being a house guest and service discrete but attentive.
Review 54:The only problem was that there was a smell in the bathroom;either fungal or from sewage.
Review 55:Beautiful location!! Views are amazing!!The staff is friendly and very very helpful. The room is comfortable and view from room outstanding!!The breakfast was very tasty as was the dinner.
Review 56:Time to leave
Review 57:We have only positive feedback here. The staff were amazing and so helpful. The food was local, fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The setting was ideal and only maybe 20 minutes from the Alhambra.
Review 58:The hotel was developed, decorated and is now run by the same couple. They are charming and have imbued their own elegant taste into everything. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable within easy drive of 10 mins or so from Granada. We had a couple of difficulties with a sick child while staying and nothing was too much trouble. We felt as if we were staying with friends because we were treated with such generosity and warmth.
Review 59:Nothing at all is too much trouble for your hosts here and their wonderful team. You really do feel like one of the family and their 5 course evening meal (optional) is as good as you will find absolutely anywhere. We loved our time there, in the tranquility of the hills and we will be back.
Review 60:The weather but what can you do about that. Honestly, I think everything you have done is spot on.
Review 61:The sitting room with its fireplace, incredible selection of books and that lovely music not to mention the artwork and lovely interior decor. Oh, and the food and its presentation just put the icing on the cake. The ambiance that ignites when the guests come to dinner is a night of entertainment in and of itself. We have made many new friends from different parts of world. Patricia, Manuel, Maria and the rest of the wonderful staff make it happen. Thank you for all your help with directions, guidance for activities and help with computer. We will be back next year when we hope to spend more time I'm Granada.
Review 62:The steep road up to the property was a bit tricky at times. Monochil town very quiet, we had a car so we travelled further afield. I think a hire car is essential.
Review 63:La Almunia del Valle was so relaxing the staff were amazing and Patricia the host was so lovely. The food for breakfast and evening meal was stunning. The views and surrounding areas were beautiful, plenty of walks and very close to Granada if you have a car.
Review 64:The setting could not be more beautiful. A nice relaxing space away from the tourist traps but close enough to towns/Granada and the coast to do a lot of day trips. Room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent; friendly and helpful and even made special food to suit my allergies.
Review 65:Had a great time there, everything made our stay perfect: the lovingly decorated rooms, the beautiful garden, the healthy breakfast and the friendly owners
Review 66:Pool is smaller than it looks in the pictures but offers great views and relaxation. Most rooms are a bit close together.
Review 67:Great Food, lovely hosts, fantastic views, peaceful, tasteful interiors, attention to detail and lots of love put into the whole experience.
Review 68:Nothing.
Review 69:Everything. The hotel has a stunning location and is exceptionally well run by the owners, who obviously care deeply about their hotel and their clients, as do their friendly and professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay. Our evening meal was exceptional and delicious and we ate it on the romantic terrace overlooking the incredible view. Our room was extremely comfortable and stylish with the same wonderful views over the valley. There were thoughtful little touches, like the complimentary water and juice in the fridge and the tea and coffee making facility. The swimming pool was delightful and although there were children present, they were well behaved and quiet. This is a perfect hotel for a relaxing retreat.
Review 70:Leaving La Almunia de la Valle. The steep winding road leading up to 'Heaven' was terrifying, but worth it when we got there. Once parked, we used taxis to go to Granada.
Review 71:Absolutely everything about La Almunia de la Valle was idyllic. The owners and staff pampered their guests, anticipating their every need and offering practical assistance as well as providing the most delicious meals.
Review 72:The curtains in the room do not really assure darkness in the room, so we were wake-up early by the sun!
Review 73:The really warm welcome Everything was possible. We felt as at home
Review 74:Difficult to find by road, but the front desk can share easy-to-follow directions in advance.
Review 75:So much more than we expected - beautiful location in the hills, spectacular pool and facilities, fantastic dinners and breakfast and welcoming staff. We loved our stay and didn't want to leave when the time to go came. This was the perfect retreat on a cross-Spanish roadtrip - located central to the Alhambra and Granada, but it a perfect piece of heaven that feels like you're a million miles away from such a major tourist destination. We will be back and we'll be sending our friends and family as well. Special thanks to Maria at reception who made us feel so welcome throughout the stay.
Review 76:Fantastic view from the hotel - both from the terrace, the room and the pool. Close to good walks and also a fantastic place to stay the whole day enjoying the beautiful surroundings.Very nice staff and owners. They really make an effort to make sure you have a great stay. They're good at recommending things to do or places to see during your stay.
