Reviews for El Foyu

Review 1:Although it is advertised as a restaurant, there is no dining facility, apart from breakfast, and quite difficult to get a drink after about 8pm. If there is a function going on in the function suite then there is a lot of noise.

Review 2:Well off the road with little noise in acres of farmland. Staff only spoke spanish which made communication interesting. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent range of food for breakfast. Very clean rooms with super en-suite.

Review 3:For those who walk the way of Saint James it may be off the expected pass.

Review 4:As a pilgrim wañking the way of saint james.Went way passed hotel El Foyu. Reservation said is was in Colunga. In fact it is in the town of Huerres (part of Colunga district) but not in the village of Colunga. I had to go back and up a long hill to finally find it. It is a very good place. Nice rooms facing a garden. Great bathroom. The owner reviewed my internet reservation and said that I was being overcharged. So he reduced the price from 90EU and gave me a special deal including dinner: 67EU.At what time would you want a dinner reservation?. I replied: " 9 PM, But I se no restaurant here"A driver will pick you up and drive you there. When you are finished the restaurant owner will drive you back.At 9pm sharp I was driven to restaurant La Rula right by the ocean in the magical fishing village of Lastres quite far from the hotel through winding roads. The restaurant owner who is also the main owner of the hotel greeted me.He said :Waitress give this gentleman a nice table." So laughing we both walked to my table.I enjoyed a delicious fish soup everything from the ocean seemed to be in there, even broken shells mixed with crab legs, small crawfish and who knows what else.I had mussels for seconds. All with a great white wine.I drank a liter of water, the day had been so hot, and the sun burning all day. My feet where hurting and my legs wanted to go on strike. After dinner the restaurant owner drove me back to the hotel. We both listened to the football game on the car radio and chatted about the latest in sport news.Back at the hotel I went straight to sleep.Very tired, this is properly named "rompe piernas walk"Woke up wondering if my legs could take another 20km with a steep climb plus another climb of 1200 feet tomorrow.Enjoyed a good breakfast with a variety of hams, cakes and fruit. The hotel manager offered to take me to Colunga as he needed to buy bread. God sent!! He left me al the visitor information center.

Review 5:Lack of air-conditioning (despite adverts saying there was) Dogs barking at night Limited language capability amongst staff

Review 6:Swimming pool Breakfast Great restaurant 5km away

Review 7:Nothing really, if I was to be really picky, there is no longer air conditioning at the hotel since it has been refurbished, however the average temperature throughout our stay was high 30s and it caused us no problems.

Review 8:The view of the hotel on turning off the main road was quite breathtaking, the driveway Is lined with flowering Hydranga, leading you to the Hotel foyer. We were welcomed on arrival and shown directly to our room. The room was spacious and very well appointed. The housekeeping was second to none with the rooms thoroughly cleaned and all linens and towels changed daily. The breakfast was plentiful with endless tea and coffee I would have no hesitation in staying there again, well worth the money.

Review 9:The reception desk was not very attentive, and the wifi was passable at best.

Review 10:The location was promising. The facilities clean.

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:Lovely old farmhouse to stay in. Ate in sister restaurant for dinner - the owner gave is a lift both ways!!! Great place to stay

Review 13:Unable to connect my tablet to the internet.

Review 14:Location, facilities, warm welcome and food.

Review 15:Communication error between the Booking.com and the hotel - the hotel was not aware of the booking. So the place was dark, empty and was not prepared to receive customers. The owner refused to agree on 30 min early breakfast request for the next day. He did deduct a few (5?) Euros from the bill. We called the taxi and left the hotel as fast as we could the next morning.

Review 16:Setting was peaceful

Review 17:We went to Spain for a weekend party and stayed at the hotel for two night. The hotel is really nice with a lovely decoration and very clean. it is a perfect place for a romantic weekend. the staff were very nice and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic. we are planning in coming back

Review 18:nothing- great value and a fantastic experience!

Review 19:excellent location to go to Colunga and all the beautiful sights around. it is also a good choice for travellers with children, as it's really near the Prehistory park, really good fun! The staff was lovely and the food ( breakfast) excellent, homemade and fresh, and we were very well treated as if we were in a family.

Review 20:We were a group of cyclists and this was the best of 11 hotels we stayed in. The hotel is brilliant with a great pool and helpful staff. The cycles were locked away at night for safety. I will be returning with my wife in the future for a romantic peaceful stay It is a short walk to the nearest town and the owner even offered to drive us to a further away restaurant

Review 21:peace and tranquillity, friendly attentive staff, beautiful setting, conveniently close to Colunga and beaches, village of Huerres and superb café
