Reviews for Hotel Alén do Mar
Review 1:I would have liked to know ahead of time that the only restaurant close to the hotel was not operating.
Review 2:The family run business is evidenced by their attention to personalizing your stay. My laundry was done and beautifully folded. They served tea in my room at no extra cost. The staff drove me to town for a restaurant
Review 3:It is 2 miles from the city central and people should be aware of this if they do not have a car. Cabs are sketchy at times. However, the staff (Anxou) was very generous in driving us to town twice.
Review 4:Well located on the beach. You can hear the waves. New, beautifully designed in the woods for privacy. High quality construction. Well appointed lighting, use of huge windows. Great staff assistance. Great breakfast. We would come back for a much longer restful stay.
Review 5:The location by the beach, with a lovely view from the sunny balcony. Cleanliness, service and helpfulness of family run business was excellent. Car parking was free. Modern construction. Peaceful and relaxing ambience
Review 6:No sign on the camino directing us to the hotel. So we passed it and ended up 1.5 km into Fisterra. Because they say its an ocean view and on the playa we were sure we would see it. Not much to coos from for dinner unless you go back into town.
Review 7:Beautiful facility.great room. Nice view but set back at least 300 yards from ocean which you view through the trees Wonderful unique breakfast.
Review 8:A little too far from downtown Finnesterre. I was hiking the Camino alone and it was a little far from the action. John (owner of Centrolo) drove me to hotel after a fantastic dinner because taxis weren't running. Nice walk by day but to far after sundown alone.
Review 9:Beautiful hotel ... Wish my husband was traveling with me.
Review 10:Breakfast very limited and no choice, however it was good anyways
Review 11:Nice and clean rooms with great ocean and beach view, friendly staff! Make sure to book a room with balcony - there are few without!
Review 12:Wifi not very strong so was unreliable
Review 13:Beautiful location, very peaceful. Staff pleasant and helpful. Comfortable room, fantastic balcony with sea and forest view.
Review 14:Very nice hotel, extremely Clean, nice design, modern style. The staff were very nice, the reception when we arrived excellent. Very beatiful area, Beach very Close and visible from our room, a very nice beach. I am very glad we stayed here instead of in central Finisterra. We did not have breakfast. The wifi worked well.
Review 15:I liked everything.
Review 16:Lovely staff. They even gave us a room after we'd checked out as we were soaked through and needed to change before we left town.
Review 17:It's not a hotel: it has no restaurant facility, poor breakfast, daytime only reception, abandoned at night until 8am ish, . Room was small but had a nice balcony. Over priced. There are better hotels near by.
Review 18:Pleasant staff, nice view, clean, light modern facility.
Review 19:Perfect stay!!!! Beach view, great location at Langosteira beach, ideal for walking into town on the beach. Very friendly staff, modern, comfy rooms - would have loved to stay longer.
Review 20:We had hoped to borrow the bicycles, but one was having a tire puncture repaired, so they were not available. We still enjoyed our visit over to Fisterra.
Review 21:Rooms, public areas, furnishings & decor, cleanliness and maintenance were all A+ Charro was very sweet and helpful with our needs. We enjoyed the deck for an evening beverage. We found the bar prices reasonable, and appreciated the option on-site.
Review 22:I liked it all. Be aware the best restaurants are about 20 minutes walk from the hotel.
Review 23:This is an excellent hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Simply the best of the best. Only a few hundred feet from waters edge you fall asleep listening to the surf.
Review 24:Weak WiFi signal.
Review 25:New and very nice hotel located just above a beautiful beach. Loved the sun and seclusion, with access to Finisterre (3 km) via the beach or a path behind the beach.
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:we never expected to find such a nice place so far out at the end of Europe. The staff was always very helpful and welcoming. the breakfast was served with a smile and is very tasty. Views of the water are amazing and the location is about 100 feet from a beautiful white sandy beach. There is a nice walk into town along with many pilgrims that are finishing the Camino. Everything was spotlessly clean and very peaceful.
Review 28:There is no sign on the beach for the hotel.if you are walking the Camino (to Finisterre)turn right at the Calcoba cafe/restaurant.The receptionist said they were going to put a sign up on the beach.
Review 29:Beautiful decor.nice quiet location close to playa langosteira beach.free bicycles to cycle into Finisterre (10 minutes)
Review 30:Nothing.
Review 31:The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and they collected us by car from the centre of Finisterre when we were too tired to walk back to the hotel. The hotel is very modern and stylish, lovely bathroom, bedroom with terrace, extremely clean. Great breakfast with beautifully presented bowl of yoghurt and fresh fruit, as well as fresh juice, toast, cake, etc. We will return for longer.
Review 32:No evening meal available but there were two restaurants 2 mins away.
Review 33:Location overlooking Langosteira beach. Very friendly staff, Excellent room. Good WiFi. Good breakfast. Location information material.
Review 34:We were only able to stay one night. Would return every night if we could!
Review 35:This is one of the best places I have ever stayed! Everything was just amazing. We had a beautiful room with a glass fronted balcony to maximise the amazing sight and sound of the ocean which is less than 100m away. The modern room, like the entire building, was beautifully presented and there were huge picture windows everywhere, with something to see from them all. A small thing, but a nice touch were the lovely toilitries. The breakfast was great too! But above all was the welcome we were given by the hostess - she greeted us like old friends. She also went to the trouble of phoning around a couple of restaurants to make sure they were still open out of season and gave us some tips on where to go. The hotel is practically on the Camino if you come by the beach in to Fisterra - don't walk past it!
Review 36:Difficult to find.....Tom tom shows it in different place. Also sign on road could not be seenonly if approaching from Finisterre village. Wi fi not good unless directly outside the office.
Review 37:Nice units, clean and warm. Lovely breakfast. Nice hosts. We walked the 3 kms into town for dinner and back which was a lovely walk on the Camino route.
Review 38:The wifi was a little spotty, and disconnected frequently.
Review 39:We cannot say enough kind words about this property. We stayed here for 4 nights, and enjoyed every minute of it. Located just 3km outside of Finesterre (which is perfect, because you don't have to deal with the street people or noise of the city), steps from the beach, bicycles and rides to town at no additional charge, and the cleanest hotel you will ever stay in. The family that owns and operates is takes so much pride it oozes out in everything they do. Beautifully appointed, crisp white linens, large balconies, and the sound of waves crashing below. Fantastic.
Review 40:Stayed one night lovely modern hotel in quiet setting. Staff very helpful, drove us into Fisterre twice and recommended a very good restaurant. Great view of Milkyway from the beach.
Review 41:There was no fridge in the room. Don't expect too much of the beach in fall and after the sea was rough, got really dirty...
Review 42:Very nice building, very helpful staff, nice rooms with balcony. The breakfast was great and lovely prepared. Next to the hotel there is a nice path in the woods towards the town (20 minutes walk next to the sea). Free parking. Highly recommended!
Review 43:Nothing!
Review 44:Welcoming, friendly and attentive owners. A beautiful outlook down to the beach. Very modern, only two years old, high quality facility with lovely, peaceful atmosphere. Suited us to be at walking distance from Finisterre.
Review 45:Everything was just fine! Location was nice a bit away from town, easily walking on a part of the camino of Santiago! We had no car and the manager drove us to town when the restaurant nextdoor appeared to be closed because of the low season...
Review 46:Starting from the building itself Hotel Alen do Mar is wonderful. Beautiful entrance, immaculately clean and very helpful friendly staff. Our room had a sea view (I think all rooms do) with a balcony so it was lovely to sit outside with a vino blanco watching and listening to the waves. We felt we were at home. The restaurants near the beach were not open for dinner as the busy season had finished however the owners of the hotel dropped us into Finisterre for dinner and then picked us up.
Review 47:The breakfasts were served well but no choices were offered. It would be helpful to have a small fridge in the bedroom and also equipment to dry seaside clothes.
Review 48:The setting was great being close to the beach and to lovely paths along the coast. The staff were welcoming and helpful and we found the room comfortable and clean. The laundry service was good.
Review 49:Thin walls between rooms mean that you can hear the air conditioning units in neighbouring rooms and also TV's, despite requests from the management to keep this source of noise at low level.
Review 50:Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is exceptionally well kept and very clean. Nice location for exploring Fisterre and the coast immediately to the north towards Muxia.
Review 51:Nothing, really. It can rain heavily at all seasons here, but the hotel can do nothing about that.
Review 52:A very good modern hotel so no issues with tired furniture and fittings. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good in the spanish style so don't expect a full English.
Review 53:Virtually nothing. All was so immaculately great!
Review 54:No wandering tourists, great climate, 2 different beaches, wonderful restaurant right on the beach. The family owning and working in the hotel was extremely polite, caring and welcoming.
Review 55:Beautiful room. (An amazing picture above bed full width of room) . Staff very friendly & couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit cocktails & fresh orange juice included. They even got me Gluten Free bread! Only a 100 yds from a most amazing beach full of shells & coastal walk to Fisterra. Will certainly be returning!!!!
Review 56:The views of the sea and the beach were magical. The hotel was very modern and comfortable and great value for money.
Review 57:Wish there had been a restaurant or food outlet nearby.

Review 76:The owners, the shuttle service the beautiful room and fantastic breakfast
Review 77:The room was very comfortable and well heated. The family who run the hotel were lovely, friendly and went out of their way to help us.

Review 89:Best acommodation of our trip by far: excellent location, super nice hosts & beautiful beaches super close by!
Review 90:All was perfect we just wasn't lucky with the weather.
Review 91:Location is perfect, just next to the beach. Quiet place. Very elegant and cozy. Top class.
Review 92:Excellent breakfast
Review 93:Great location, close to beach, nice patio with some rooms. Owner was very friendly and accomodating. Nice touches in the rooms.
Review 94:Location Balcony Comfortable bed Delicious breakfast
Review 95:Beautiful location and building, very friendly and attentive staff and exceptionally clean and tidy. Much more a 4* in our opinion!
Review 96:Stylish, modern, impeccable, and a short walk to a stunning beach.
Review 97:This hotel is about 6 km from the lighthouse and about 3 km fro the town center. If you're walking the Camino de Santiago as I was, the location is less than ideal.
Review 98:This small hotel was very clean and well done.
Review 99:The walk into town was a bit long, but that was a very minor problem.
Review 100:I loved this place. I would go back in a heartbeat. The family there that owns and runs it are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are lovely and the beach is lovely. Great value! Breakfast was really good, too.
Review 101:Lacked some equipment - especially for longer holiday (a small fridge or at least minibar would be nice, a bigger trash can, somewhere to dry wet towels or swimsuits).
Review 102:Beautiful calm localisation in a forest by the sea-side. Very clean. Helpful staff. Great quality/price ratio.
Review 103:For us Australians We would have liked a choice Perhaps eggs But they provided fresh fruit Freshly squeezed orang juice
Review 104:Hotel staff very obliging They drove us to town for dinner handpicked us up Provided an excellent tecomendtion for dinner
Review 105:Nothing - it didn't even rain very much.
Review 106:This is a very modern build with much excellent use of granite and glass. Impeccably clean and very comfortable. Breakfast very good. Location is facing the sea with a view of the beach, but set back some 150 metres - you're not directly on the beach, but you can still hear the waves!
Review 107:The Best place to stay if you want a quiet beach outside of town! The staff, facilities, and location are amazing! Best place we stayed all across Spain. Taxi's stop running around midnight but the staff will come pick you up in town and take you back to the hotel.
Review 108:Location was convenient, quiet. Staff was excellent, always looking to help. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Easy access to the beach, the Camino, and a short drive to town.
Review 109:Drinks in the bar were very expensive so after the first night we didnot use it .
Review 110:Excellent hotel, fantastic chill out after Camino and such a lovelyfamily, nothing was too much trouble. Free ironing was a great bonus andbag of washing at 4 euros was wonderful. Thanks Auntie. Breakfast wasexcellent fresh and beautifully presented Hope to return soon.
Review 111:No complaints, perhaps a few softer seats in the restaurant area might tempt us to spend more time in the bar in the evening or having a coffee. But really, the hotel is pretty close to perfect!
Review 112:I cannot praise this hotel enough. We were a group of five people, doing the Camino to Finisterre. The previous night we had stayed in a dismal hotel in Cee and so welcomed the quality of Hotel Alen do Mar all the more for this reason. The value was incredible, given the top quality of the hotel, the beautiful views and the quality of the decor. The family who run the hotel were so kind to us, helping us to get a taxi back to Santiago de Compostela (which I'd also recommend!). Breakfast was really fresh and the family even hosted us to some lovely cafes con leche on departure. Really, it's a case of 10 out of 10!
Review 113:The best hotel on our trip in galicia. An unbeatable price-value correlation, extremely cordial and friendly staff, top location at the splendid beach/seaside (in a little wood), free parking, extensive breakfast, modern furniture, good heating (end of march), clean, .....
Review 114:Hotel Alen is in a beautiful location, with a great seaside walk into Finisterre. The staff were so helpful. We had planned to walk to the lighthouse, but there was so much rain so they drove us there. And another time they picked us up from town in the evening. The breakfast was excellent - such a variety of well presented, delicious food. It was cold at this time of year, other hotels we stayed in got cold at night, but not here - we had a warm room with an excellent view of the sea through the trees.
Review 115:breakfast started very late
Review 116:Location just at a beautiful beach, great view, very cosy environment, possibility to use bicycles; reasonably close to Finisterra
Review 117:This hotel was a delight. It is situated about 50m from a lovely beach and our room and balcony overlooked the sea. The Alen do mar is in a quiet, secluded spot but is in easy reach of the town of Fisterra, with its many restaurants. The breakfast was full and delicious and the service was wonderful. A particular feature, which appealed to us, was the quality and price of the hotel's laundry service. A bag of clothes, washed and ironed for only 4 Euros, has to be a bargain! The people running the Alen do Mar were as friendly and helpful as they could be and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would love to go again sometime.
Review 118:The initial impression is a little like a motel. The hotel is modern and the sound proofing is not too good. Sounds do travel and if you were in the busy season this could prove annoying.
Review 119:The hotel is new and is in a quiet spot just outside the main town. The beach can be viewed between the trees and there is a nice walk to the town of Fisterra. The hotel is privately owned and the owners are keen to make one feel welcome.
