Reviews for Hotel Inn Design Resto Novo Alençon

Review 1:Very helpful Eglish speaking receptionist - we phoned to say we'd be very late, after 10pm, and she gave code and clear instructions to find our room. Scrupulously clean & neat, nice good value breakfast, convenient for local chain restaurant for dinner.

Review 2:Room was cold and small, restaurant was closed despite being advertised on website. We had to go out to eat - not what we wanted after a long journey.

Review 3:Clean, good location

Review 4:I found the staff very welcoming and friendly , and very helpful as I was traveling with my harps . Breakfast selection was excellent .The shower a dream .

Review 5:We had nothing to complain about it is a good place to stop over.

Review 6:The Hotel is close to the A28 which is good. For an overnight stop with an evening meal provided and breakfast both very acceptable and a very comfortable room this was a very good place to break our journey to Calais.

Review 7:The family room, number 40, was AWFUL dirty, not hoovered dead insects, the fridge had mould inside. Drops of insect repellent allover. So bad we slept fully clothed on top of the beds. Photos to prove. Could put more but no space. Can't even say you get what you pay for because I could have stayed at a mid Premier Inn for the price we paid.

Review 8:The receptionists morning and evening were friendly and tried to help but they spoke little English, but why should they we were in France?

Review 9:we were meant to have a family room but we had 2 separate rooms and weren't informed of this until we arrived. we would have stayed somewhere else if we had known. The food was nice for adults but absolutely terrible for children. No vegetable's or sauce just rice and a slice of ham. Why cant restaurants just do mini versions of the adults meals? it doesn't make any sense.

Review 10:It was clean

Review 11:Rooms are small but have everything I needed.

Review 12:I stayed twice, on a trip to Dunkirk and then on the way home. Alencon is about half way. Friendly staff, comfy bed. Clean and functional and good value for money.

Review 13:Lack of staff so the receptionist (who was doing her best with too much to do) had to then serve in the restaurant and we had to wait 1 hour 20 minutes for the baby cot to be put in our room even though it was arranged and confirmed by email weeks before - 5-month-old baby needed to go to bed but had to wait! In the room the heater was hanging off the wall by the screw, a bit dangerous with a 3-year-old. The remote control for the TV didn't work and the kettle had a connection problem so you had to stand holding the switch down!

Review 14:Location and price were good, comfortable beds.

Review 15:Cardboard cups & inability to make a decent cup of tea, especially after a long journey! Missing items, e.g. kettle, remote control, toilet rolls... (quality control?)

Review 16:The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 17:At 2:07am a man with a key, entred my wifes room, where she was sleeping with our 4 year old and baby. We will be sending an email to the police in the area. My wife screemed and luckily the man left the room. Also, I had to clean excrament from the front of my toilet in my room where I was staying with my eldest daughter - disgusting!

Review 18:Friendly staff.

Review 19:The absence of a lift is important. For the aircond there is no individual control in the room. Rooms are a bit too small, few more cm at the end of the bed and in the toilet would have made the difference. The restaurant has certainly a courageous menu but not every one may appreciate it.

Review 20:The postion, not too far from the motorway , (direction Cherbourg). The modern structure is well laid down.

Review 21:Clean, convenient and friendly. Two small adjoining rooms, ideal for a family with young children for a stopover on a long drive. WIll definitely use this one again when making a similar journey.

Review 22:Would have preferred a family room to two separate rooms. The room key has hard to use in the door and that seemed to be the same for other residents too.

Review 23:Cleanliness of room was excellent.

Review 24:The rooms were exceptionally small and everything was so tightly placed that it really was a squeeze to get into the bathroom, past the beds etc. Wifi reception not good.

Review 25:The hotel was clean and appropriate for a night's stop over. Staff friendly and helpful. Large car park.

Review 26:The address is inadequate. The hotel is just outside the city boundary of Alencon which confused the SatNav and us.

Review 27:Situation convenient for onward journey to motorways. Practical and good value. Good food.

Review 28:Room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke

Review 29:VERY clean. Easy location close to motorway. Asked for family room (for 3) and a double (for 2). The family room was actually a double AND a twin with interconnecting door = 4 beds. So, we actually had 3 rooms.

Review 30:Hot still night with no means of stirring the air other than inward opening window. Barking guard dog in adjoining depot.

Review 31:Convenience of location for one night stop over en route, adequate restaurant attached for evening meal and breakfast served by very polite and hard working staff. Car parking was essential feature.

Review 32:Shame the restaurant didn't open on a Sunday when the website said it was.

Review 33:Great stop off hotel on drive back to UK. Great value for money. Clean, comfortable, excellent receptionist.

Review 34:Perfect location en route back from Pyrenees to Channel Tunnel, and the UK. Lovely reasonably priced dinner and breakfast. Staff were really great too.

Review 35:Overall very good, it was just an overnight stop prior to travelling back to the UK from Central France. It was just what we wanted, good value for money.

Review 36:We asked for rooms close together as one was for parents and the other for children. Unfortunately our rooms were separated by three other rooms. At breakfast, cereal was available but there were no bowls. People were trying to eat cereal and milk from plates and coffee cups. At 8.30 I asked for a bowl, at 9.30 there still weren't any.

Review 37:The room was everything you need for an overnight stay. Clean and comfortable.

Review 38:Simple but clean room. For children had adjoining room, which worked great. Breakfast was good, plenty to eat and kids enjoyed the self service. Overall a simple but very functional room that was perfect for overnight stay as we traveled to boat.

Review 39:Booked for dinner but the Chef had an accident so menu was very limited.(Cold food only) so we made other arrangements. Breakfast alsodisappointing and not as shown in photos on website. Not enough carparking spaces.

Review 40:Convenient location

Review 41:Restaurant wasn't open on Saturday evening but it stated that it was on our booking form. Air-con would greatly improve the comfort. The décor is very dark - a lighter colour in the reception area would be a great improvement. Shower head was too heavy for the fixing and it wouldn't stay upright.

Review 42:Free wifi; comfortable beds; easy to find; as restaurant was closed the local Buffalo Grill was ideal.

Review 43:We booked a room for 3. We got a room which had a 3rd single bed shoehorned between the 2 already in position. It was an adventure to traverse the room and reach the bathroom without falling over a bag or being decapitated by the lurking TV on the wall. As we had little baggage, we didn't have to sleep curled round it. Negotiating the room could best be described as an adventure sport... please don't describe a tiny room as a triple!

Review 44:Friendly helpful staff. Location (proximity to motorway) Clean

Review 45:after a long journey we were not happy to find we could not eat in the hotel. We stayed at the same hotel last year and had an evening meal.

Review 46:Bedrooms very good

Review 47:Claustrophobic very small room with good access for wheelchair in bathroom however access to bed from wheelchair a bit tricky ok for stopover

Review 48:Quiet area in the middle odf an industrial estate with a Buffalo Grill about 5 mins walk

Review 49:Rooms were small and tight on space. Not much storage for luggage.

Review 50:Easy to find, good parking, clean, comfortable, walkable to the town centre and train station (if you like walking otherwise a fair hike). Good supermarket next to train station.

Review 51:The restaurant was closed in the pm. The guy at the front desk wasn't overly helpful with directions to the closest restaurant, and the door to my room wasn't easy to open/lock and i think waa a fire hazard. When i asked the guy at the front desk for help he looked at me as if I was stupid. He wasn't helpful. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Review 52:They were not expecting us, for some reason the booking, done through Booking.com had not arrived (a good job they were not full). The restaurant was not open, and this was a Friday evening. Fortunately there was a steak house nearby.

Review 53:The hotel was clean and comfortable although rooms are on the small side.

Review 54:We did ask for a cot but didn't get a reply. As it was, there wasn't room to put a cot up, so our littlest one slept in a big bed. All worked out fine in the end.

Review 55:We had two rooms with connecting doors. The rooms are pretty compact, but absolutely fine for a night and I thought the facilities were good - kettle with tea and coffee proved useful.

Review 56:Can't think of one

Review 57:The fact that there was a nearby restuaurant for a sunday evening meal and that the staff recommended it. Room was quiet and clean

Review 58:It was the smallest room we had stayed in during a four week holiday in France and Spain. Wifi was hopeless. Didn't feel that it was good value for money. Restaurant closed even though it was a Friday night.

Review 59:Ease of finding

Review 60:The lady on the reception was getting a little het up when we wanted to pay for the rooms on an individual basis rather than as a single bill.

Review 61:The helpfulness of the lady I spoke to on the phone to make arrangements for our late arrival. As we were arriving after midnight she gave me the code for the main door and then told me where I would find the keys for the rooms I had booked.

Review 62:3 beds yes but pushed together with less than 2 feet round the edges inadequate for 3. Looked clean BUT ladies vest/top half under a bed. Restaurant, said to open Saturday evening, was closed. Room key tag had Hotel name, room number and (stuck on) the entrance code for the outer door - not exactly high security!

Review 63:Good bed; good breakfast; good parking;good location for our purpose (Le Mans)

Review 64:The shower mounting was broken, the door seal partially detached and bent and the drain incapable of avoiding flooding. The sink drain also could not cope with the tap output. Insufficient room around the bed for luggage and safe movement for mobility restricted people. Restaurant hours restricted

Review 65:We were touring by bike and we were offered secure under cover parking. Restaurant was closed on the Sunday evening but a local restaurant was an easy walk away.

Review 66:Bedroom/Bathroom smelt strongly of drains which was pretty unpleasant.

Review 67:We arrived very late but rang in advance and the staff gave us the code for the front door and left our room open with a key which was most helpful. Bed was very comfortable, breakfast was reasonable.

Review 68:Our shower head was broken so we had to use the one in the children's room. Poor selection of evening meals, so we decided to eat out (the nearby buffalo grill was great though). Smell of paint, although hotel is being decorated, so that's a good thing. Lights outside our rooms not working (corridor very dark at night). Positioned on what appears to be an industrial estate.

Review 69:Friendly staff on reception. Reasonably priced. Clean and comfortable, even if a little cramped.

Review 70:No room service so had to eat In Restaurant by 9pm - difficult when you have fogs send don't want to leave term on their own in room.

Review 71:We had 2 rooms, adjoining so the children had 2 di hid beds and we had a double. Enough space for 2 dogs and was clean. A little garden outside at the back made it easy to let the dogs out for toilet duty!

Review 72:Most expensive of six recent overnight stops but smallest room. Restaurant menu had many things unavailable.

Review 73:It was clean and everything functioned. Convenient location.

Review 74:The wifi didn't work at all. The rooms were very small, although they used furniture that economized the space. I had to hold the shower head the whole time I took a shower and I couldn't change the temperature of the water (luckily it wasn't too cold).

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and my kids loved breakfast. It was a very convenient location right off the highway. The rooms were clean and I appreciated having co-joining rooms.

Review 76:The size of the room. We had to play Pacman when moving around. The lack of extra pillows. Tiny "designer" bathroom. Lack of hot water. The headboard spanning a double bed and a single bed. Poor piggy-in-the middle - no light or light switch or bedside table. Room should have been designed by an architect not a fashion guru.

Review 77:The friendliness of the receptionist. The breakfast (generous with good coffee).

Review 78:Easy to locate, Michelle at reception spoke perfect English and made us feel very welcome. The evening meal in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a buffet, with a large selection. All in all an excellent night stopover whilst travelling through France.

Review 79:Not a luxury spacious hotel but good value and a very warm welcome from the lady receptionist, who spoke good English. Young chef produced enjoyable meals at a reasonable price. Easy to find and close to the Autoroute.

Review 80:Nothing - it was what it was a budget hotel but comfortable hotel.

Review 81:Even though we arrived reasonably late the staff made us welcome and advised where we could eat (Buffalo Grill - very close) and helped us telephone UK the following day.

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Easy to find arriving late after the drive from Calais. A pleasant welcome and simple clean well designed room. Everything worked and was spotless. A good nights sleep and even a kettle in the room for tea to ease our early departure next morning for the long drive South. Just right!

Review 84:Very dark staircase leading to rooms. Very small bathroom.

Review 85:Muriel, the General Factotum, is charming, helpful and very amusing with excellent English. The food is excellent value for money and beautifully presented. Basic stop-over hotel.

Review 86:Arrived on wet Sunday evening to be told that the restaurant was closed (although I had booked because there was a restaurant on site). Ground floor room but no means to have window open during a warm night

Review 87:Excellent position for stay en route to/from Caen. Breakfast was excellent value Rooms were clean and comfortable

Review 88:Small rooms & bathrooms but adequate for a stopover stay

Review 89:Friendly service Restaurant on site Connecting rooms for teenage chidlren without requesting it Convenient location

Review 90:There was some traffic noise. The decor was rather dated and very brown but you don't notice that when you're asleep.

Review 91:A good place to stay on the way to the ferry at Caen. The staff were friendly and helpful even told us to get best value fuel. The rooms, although small, had everything that you would need, the evening meal and breakfast were good value.

Review 92:The absence of decent cups for tea/coffee. The room was quite small. Long walk into the town centre.

Review 93:The hotel was comfortable and conveniently situated for the road network.

Review 94:Great staff so helpful and friendly beautiful area very clean made welcome maintained grounds plenty of safe free parking breakfast was good and would definitely recommend to anyone

Review 95:The food was shocking. It wasn't freshly cooked food more like from a packet. Shame as the hotel and staff are nice.

Review 96:The hotel was nice and so was the staff.

Review 97:Out of town location. But was close to the autoroute but not too close.

Review 98:A clean tidy and comfortable hotel. The staff were lovely and worked incredibly hard for their customers. A simple menu choice in the restaurant with very reliable food. A small but excellent wine choice. Great value for money I will certainly stay again. Well done the staff.

Review 99:It was all good.

Review 100:A warm welcome, good and easy parking, nicely located for our overnight stop en route to Southern France. Muriel was a great host and despite arriving late she and the chef provided a wonderful 3 course meal. Breakfast was also excellent.

Review 101:If you wanted to use wifi it was necessary to register with personal details consequently didn't bother. Wifi should be available with just a log in code.

Review 102:Convenient location for first evening into France from the ferry. Very friendly and helpful staff. No frills, good value and everything that was required. Evening meal available and good. Breakfast as expected.

Review 103:The rooms are small and the decoration a little 80's with plenty of dark brown! As its a stop over hotel for most people the room sizes are not really an issue considering the price.

Review 104:The hotel is easy to find and has a good car park. The staff are very friendly, rooms are clean and the continental breakfast is really good.

Review 105:Would benefit from redecoration...rather dark inside, needs brightening up. Limited local facilities.

Review 106:Close to autoroute, easy parking, good bed and shower. One 'Buffalo Grill' within walking distance.

Review 107:Cannot fault this Hotel.

Review 108:Helpful and friendly staff. Good quality rooms. Bike friendly hotel who have a separate secure room to store bikes or allow bikes in room. Used this hotel as a stopover on way back from a cycling trip to the Pyrenees. Would not hesitate to use it again

Review 109:Ideal location, clean and friendly staff. Great breakfast. Perfect family room with interconnecting rooms. Just what we needed for our stopover travelling from Calais to the Dordogne.

Review 110:They gave us small paper cups to make the tea in but fortunately we had our own with us.

Review 111:We have previously stayed at this hotel in 2013 so were familiar with it. The receptionist was very friendly, helpful and chatty. The room offered good tea making facilities and the bed was the best we stayed in on our road trip, we had a very good nights sleep at this hotel. Very close to a restaurant, offering good food and reasonable prices.

Review 112:In the evening the restaurant didn't have any food except the plat de jour which was very limited. And it wasn't cheap. Made our budget overnight stay not so budget! Breakfast wasn't over exciting either but sufficed.

Review 113:Hotel room looked like it needed a paint, looked a little grubby.

Review 114:Good breakfast, reasonable price, perfect hotel for a stopover, good price, good staff

Review 115:Small rooms

Review 116:I stayed here with my husband and two boys 3&5, in a triple room. It was no more or no less than advertised. A well priced stop over on our way to Limosin. It was our second stay, my sons really wanted to stay here again as it's so close to a Buffalo Grill, their favourite restaurant ever!

Review 117:Room was small but adequate, little space to move around bed.

Review 118:Comfortable bed, free parking, tea and coffee facilities in the room. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast and restaurant food.

Review 119:Not keen on only being able to check in after 5pm, the room smelled of smoke, there was no air con and so had to sleep with window open and therefore listened to trucks going past, seemingly for hours.

Review 120:The hotel was clean, convenient and good value for money. The one member of staff I met was friendly at the end.

Review 121:The room was far too small. The bed was up against the bathroom wall so no room to get out of bed at one side. Only 2 small hand towels in bathroom. Hotel difficult to find.

Review 122:Nothing - no problems at all

Review 123:Nice welcome from friendly young staff, clean and well decorated room, pleasant dinner although I arrived quite late and a good choice for breakfast. Good value & convenient.

Review 124:Not great choice on menu, but no problem if you are hungry. Little problem re opening bedroom door, but only because you have to pull door towards you, whilst turning key. Receptionist quickly came and showed us after we had battled for 5mins

Review 125:convenient just off motorway, good parking. Ideal for overnight stop whilst travelling.

Review 126:The parking are was small and did not accommodate for people with small trailers. We were able to take off the trailer and park in different bay area.

Review 127:We arrived very late and the staff were very helpful and gave us entry code.

Review 128:Decor a bit tired.

Review 129:Belgium beer and a good meal at a fair price. Very accommodating staff. Location great for stop off for U.K. ferries and yes, they did have a kettle in the room and wifi.

Review 130:Paying twice for the room paid cash on arrival. On arriving home found payment had also been taken on our Credit Card. Asked for refund had no response from Hotel.

Review 131:Clean & quiet room, bit on the small side but serviceable.

Review 132:I would not like to stay here for many days, not much room to hang clothes

Review 133:Easy of booking in. The cleanliness of the room. The shower was good. The receptionist she was lovely, made me very welcome.

Review 134:Room was a little small

Review 135:Good shower , comfortable bed and a very good continental breakfast

The Fine Print

Please note that the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Thursday and for lunch on Friday.
