Reviews for Casa de las Mercedes

Review 1:・No privacy if you open a curtain as our room is the first one next to the stairs and faced to the corridor.

Review 2:・Located at the centre. ・Friendly staff. ・Nice breakfast.

Review 3:Driving in Malaga is not for the weak. But we arrived at the location easily with the Here app on our phone.

Review 4:Location is great, to the side of busy Malaga, within walking distance of everything. Host was friendly and helpful in planning our visit. Located in a wonderful old building with beautiful small courtyard. Parking up the street in a structure. We were in a triple which was a little tight, but we don't spend much time in hotel rooms but to sleep and shower! Malaga gets a bum rap from many guide books. We found the pedestrian area downtown to be lovely and vibrant, with lots of great eating and drinking spots.

Review 5:the building is in a quiet street but from our room we could here people talking in the hotel and the main door opening and closing.

Review 6:Very good location, a quiet street in the city center and very very nice and helpful staff.

Review 7:The location was great (but a little hard to find intially) - an easy walk to all the sights and restaurants. The rooms were wonderful, comfortable and full of character. The hosts were very helpful, pointing out sights to visit on the map, and preparing us a breakfast bag to go when we had to leave for a very early flight.

Review 8:The walk way where the hotel is situated looked unpromising because of the graffiti and on occasion could be noisy during the night.

Review 9:We appreciated the central location, the friendliness of the staff and the helpful information given to us, both via email and in person.

Review 10:Lighting in the room for reading needs improvement.

Review 11:Friendly, helpful and multilingual Manager Sander really made our stay wonderful. He helped us with all the local things to do and places to eat. He also helped us with travel arrangements.

Review 12:The owner is really nice ! We had to leave the apartment way earlier than the breakfast time, and the owner just prepared the breakfast bag for each of us !

Review 13:The owner was a huge help navigating and lending a hand with the luggage. The place is at least as beautiful as the photos. Would definitely recommend it!

Review 14:Room very small however it did contain everything we needed for a short break.

Review 15:Helpful and welcoming hosts made our one night stay particularly pleasant. Hotel is in a quiet location within walking distance of main sights, shops and restaurants.

Review 16:Nothing!

Review 17:Friendly welcome and helpful advice on places to see and where to eat.Lovely room in attractive historical building. Excellent value for money with breakfast included.

Review 18:Our room was tiny. The furniture was old and the upholstery worn. This gives impression of poor cleanliness, but the room was otherwise clean. The breakfast is very basic.

Review 19:The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located centrally in a quiet street. This is a cheap place suited for a short stay or a low budget.

Review 20:This is not really the thing we did not like, just a remark - all the windows (at least, in our room) faced the hallway, so those who like to shower (or sleep) with the open windows might want to take this into account.

Review 21:We had a very short stay - frankly, just to have a short rest before our flight back. However, despite this short time, we still had a chance to experience wonderful hospitality. Those small things - packed breakfast for us to take away, kind note to our son wishing him to achieve his football dreams, suggestion for a safe place to park our car, offer to carry our bags from the parking lot - amount to big thank you! We just felt special and a sorry that we have to leave to soon.

Review 22:We were leaving early in the morning, so the gentleman in the office (Sabban? Stephan?) left a bag in the refrigerator with yogurt, fruit, cereal, and ham sandwiches for our breakfast! He also let us print our boarding passes on the office printer. Plus the room looked like it was out of a fairy tale!

Review 23:The towels and bedding were clean but could use an update. The hotel does not have a lift. However the owners were so helpful and carried the largest items.

Review 24:Quiet, peaceful, charming, hospitable, very nice owners, historic part of town but better, near sights and good restaurants but not too close. Good aircon. Breakfast included but could be a bit more varied.Beautiful fixtures and decor in Andalusian style.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:We slept very good. It's a cozy, quite, clean, well maintained hotel but the room where we stayed is rather too small. I think we stayed in the cheapest room. The location is good. The shopping street, the beach and restaurant are on walking distance.

Review 27:Nothing really.

Review 28:The location was very good. A easy walk to the historical centre. Yet in a quiet street away from traffic noise. Our room was small but we could walk on to a lovely indoor terrace.

Review 29:Lovely central hotel around traditional courtyard, friendly staff in great location with plenty of fab little places to eat and drink in walking distance.....small but perfectly arranged rooms providing all facilities including wardrobe space and decent sized showers with the hospitable Sandro and Maria on hand with welcome suggestions/knowledge of Malaga.

Review 30:We were delayed getting into Malaga, so called the hotel and the owner, Sandor, very graciously met us around 10 PM to let us in. Room was very comfortable. We would stay here again!

Review 31:I could hear other guests in their rooms. The place was cold and the breakfast was all cold buffet. Some hot bacon and eggs would have been nice.

Review 32:Room was clean and bed comfy.

Review 33:Maybe it was just our room but there was a damp musty smell there. Walls were a bit thin! Shower lukewarm on last day BUT we would use this hotel again

Review 34:Great location Lovely helpful staff Great continental breakfast with fresh orange juice

Review 35:The bedroom and shower rooms were very, very small. It was slightly grubby, maybe not dirty but we would not want to spend another night there. Sorry!! as the people were so nice. The whole place was too small and did not compare with Abadia in Grenada. See review.

Review 36:The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. She couldn't have been better.

Review 37:Despite been down a side street, the hotel was noisy at night due to a local restaurant having live music and flamenco on in the evenings.

Review 38:The breakfast was good with freshly squeezed juice and excellent coffee.

Review 39:Parking as with many Spanish towns can be tricky but once we located the car park everyone was extremely helpful

Review 40:The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. We only had a very short time in the city and they helped us to maximise this time. The location was great with plenty of bars and restaurants close by.

Review 41:Small rooms but can't really complain for the price!

Review 42:Amazing location just a few minutes walk from bars and close to the beach. Friendly staff happy to help with directions and info on the local area. Simple but tasty breakfast. A great value hotel!

Review 69:None

Review 70:The location of the hotel is great! The staff is extremely kind and very helpful. Lots of useful advice regarding food museums and more!

Review 71:Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful room and building. Close to the centre of Malaga.

Review 72:Location fantastic, very old building .

Review 73:nothing

Review 74:Excellent small hotel. Friendly staff, charming room, central location, quiet and clean

Review 75:The room was really dirty, like hasnt been cleaned for a month... Not pleasing but the truth...

Review 76:The building was old. Design was perfect.

Review 85:Nice location and very nice helpful staff! Thanks

Review 86:The location was lovely, but the hosts were ever lovelier. Wish we had more time to spend at Casa de las Mercedes!

Review 87:Breakfast should be better (easy), difficult to find entrance.

Review 88:Nice spanish spacy rooms; comfortable; heating; supportive people.

Review 89:staff is very friendly breakfast is very good

Review 90:Muy centrico y Sander muy amable!

Review 91:Central location and available WIFI throughout the hotel.

Review 92:Breakfast selection is poor, but still good.

Review 93:I liked the location (city centre), close to the best tapas in town, kindly staff, cleanliness

Review 94:Bedding needed updating.

Review 95:Proximity to the Picasso Museum and other sites of interest.

Review 96:The bed linen smelled and felt somehow damp. Thin walls and doors, our room felt as if we were on the gangway, or "in" it. We had windows opening to the entrance gangway.. The breakfast was hostel style and not with much love.

Review 97:The dinner tips of the staff. It's close to Plaza Mercedes and more. All withing walking distance.

Review 98:Fantastic location, within walking distance to the beach, food, shopping, and the Picasso museum. Staff was nice and accommodating even when we arrived earlier than check in time. Would stay here again

Review 99:A separate and bigger breakfast room would be better. (Breakfast is served in the area next to the reception desk.)

Review 100:Typical Spanish house, centrally located, within walking distance to dining and shopping areas, value for money. I'd stay here again.

Review 101:The breakfasts were ok but rather unexciting.

Review 102:A lovel place with a real sense of old Malaga in a quiet thoroughfare, beautifully restored and converted into a comfortable hotel. The staff (especially Laura) were very helpful and went out of their way to keep us informed. … altogether, a memorable visit.

Review 103:The access to the hotel was by a rather shabby alleyway. The dollops of dog poo on the ground did not improve the first impression and we felt a little uneasy about walking up the alley at a late hour. There were no operating instructions for either the TV, DVD player or air con unit in the room and we had to ring the Manager to come and show us what to do, which could easily have been avoided. No Englsh speaking channels on TV.

Review 104:The fact that we were offered and provided with a picnic breakfast. ' to go ', as our train left before the regular breakfast start time. The room and bathroom were very clean ,quiet and comfortable. Although the air con didn 't work, the manager at once offered us a change of room. which he said was a better room with a balcony. The location was ideal for our visit to the Teatro Cervantes. The pretty interior courtyard of the hotel added to its charm and character. Great value for money. Pleasant staff.

Review 105:We received no information on how to get to the location before we arrived and had not been notified of the parking situation (e.g. need for cash to pay for parking - we were low on cash and a credit card was not accepted). We had to find a parking space on the street then find a place to get cash then go park in the garage later.

Review 106:The staff was very helpful and responsive. The breakfast was nice.

Review 107:The smell at the street was great.

Review 108:Casa de las mercedes is a more traditional and authentic accommodation. The location is good, close to the old city. The breakfast was good and the coffee was great (what can be difficult to find in Spain)!!!

Review 109:Nothing. We liked everything about it.

Review 110:A beautiful conversion of a period property into a boutique style hotel. Excellent location for the old town of Malaga. We would certainly stay here again.

Review 111:Can't think of anything at the moment.

Review 112:Excellent location. Very quiet at night. Comfortable beds, asked and got extra blankets. Wi-Fi good. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Each had our own key. As we were arriving late, we were given a phone number to ring when we arrived. The owner arrived within five minutes of our calling him. Safe and fridge in room. Breakfast was good with a variety of cereals, toast, cheese, meats, coffee, teas, orange juice, etc. Telly in room, although all in Spanish.
