Once a 14th-century Moorish fortress, this Parador Hotel offers spectacular views over the countryside and the Corbones River. Enjoy these from the pool and dine in the elegant restaurant.
A wonderful example of Moorish architecture, the Parador de Carmona boasts fabulous design details including a stunning central courtyard, vaulted ceilings, original stonework and spacious terraces. Transport yourself back in time and imagine the fortress history though battles and different civilizations that have shaped this region of Spain.
The large bright bedrooms of the Turismo de Carmona enjoy exquisite classic décor which, alongside the Sevillian tiling, enhance the 14th-century citadel's original features. Spaces are filled with tapestries and antique furniture which is completely in harmony with the buildings history.
The Turismo de Carmona's dining room is known as one of Paradores most beautiful, serving seasonal and local dishes, with partridge and Carmona spicy spinach dishes as specialties.

Reviews for Parador de Carmona

Review 1:1. Local dogs kept us awake all night barking. 2. The warm breakfast was disappointing. It was cold with a poor selection.

Review 2:Everything about the hotel was great except for the two disappointing aspects mentioned.

Review 3:Indifferent staff. Dogs were barking below our room all night on both nights. Complained - shrug shoulders - v sorry aware of problem nothing we can do. A good nights sleep was elusive.

Review 4:Nice views. Decent hotel but light on facilities. High on price.

Review 5:Nothing to dislike

Review 6:The beautiful historic building ,the location and the views from our balcony. We arrived quite late at night and had a lovely room service dinner and a bottle of wine on our balcony .

Review 7:The hotel is situated in such a beautiful old building that has been tastefully restored retaining so many original features and yet meeting high standards of comfort and convenience. It's position is just magnificent

Review 8:Although the temperature was about 27 degrees, the pool was closed. When I asked about this I think it would have been nice if the receptionist had suggested that we could use the sun loungers down at the pool area.We managed to sneak down that way anyway.

Review 9:I loved the location of the hotel,it's views and walk down to the garden and pool area.Took advice of getting a room on the 4th floor from previous guests and it was well worth the 20euros extra.Breakfast was good in the beautiful dining room .There were several areas to enjoy a drink, indoor and out.

Review 10:Fact swimming pool had difficult access and closed on 15 October! ( silly when the weather was so warm and sunny!)

Review 11:The building , the location and stunning views

Review 12:Pool closed the day we got there (mid October) although it was still very warm (especially after the long walk up from the bus stop - recommend a taxi!!) - suppose they have to close it sometime!

Review 13:A most beautiful and special place to celebrate my birthday! Spacious room with amazing views. Enjoyed sangria on the patio before dinner (although didn't eat in restaurant). Sunrise from balcony was spectacular! One night not long enough.

Review 14:I loved the town of Carmona, a small village atmosphere and the Parador fortress was very nice. Dinner was excellant as was a day at the pool. A short drive to Sevilla.

Review 15:The packs of dogs barking most of the time a little bit annoying.

Review 16:It's situation. Lovely views from a nice balcony. Did not eat here but had a lovely meal at the restaurant just a 3 min walk away. Pool looked great but a long haul down to it, as we did not have time for a swim we did not attempt it but it did look inviting. Beds ok, not all that hard.

Review 17:Would like to have bought some goods from the Parador shop but regrettably it was closed.

Review 18:Wonderful historic place and the guided city tour was delightful and informative.

Review 19:Do they really need to the ugly fencing around the otherwise lovely pool? There was little information about fascinating Carmona in reception and the desk staff were lacklustre. A minor downside was the constant sound of dogs barking from the farms somewhere below.

Review 20:Brilliantly stylish and practical conversion of an old building. Lovely public rooms. We had room 401, on the top floor with a large balcony with stunning views. The large pool is a fair climb down and up back from the hotel. The food and the service in the restaurant were very good, and reasonably priced for the location. Carmona itself is a hidden gem - wish we had known before we planned our trip which was focussed on Seville and Cordoba. The local tour guide serving the hotel is highly rated and enthusiasic. We would love to stay here again

Review 21:The fact that the only facility is a swimming pool and that is only open from 11:30 hrs to 20:00 hrs given the climate is very poor. There were plenty of staff to service the restaurants why couldn't there be an extra pool attendant to allow it to be open for a cool early morning swim. Poor show. The deal we were on had the exact same limited menu for each of the nights that we were there, no variety.

Review 22:The restaurant and the quality of the food were excellent as we're the rooms.

Review 23:The beautiful swimming pool is only open from 11:30 AM until 20:00. It was very hot and we wanted to "cool down" before eating dinner, but it was closed. It should be opened from 10AM until 10PM since it stays light until 10PM

Review 24:The bedroom was very comfortable but there was a dog in an adjacent farm barking all through most nights of our stay. This did get quite annoying at times.

Review 25:The peace and quite of the location - when the dog stopped barking. The hotel architecture is superb, the facilities within the hotel were excellent and the restaurants within the immediate locality were very good indeed..

Review 26:I wish I had more nights and days to be in this wonderful place.

Review 27:Beautiful building filled with history; super friendly staff; outstanding swimming pool

Review 28:Some of the staff came across as a little surly but this was perhaps the language barrier.

Review 29:Location and views were lovely. Used this hotel as a base to visit Seville which is about 40km away. This somewhere I'm not sure you would think of visiting otherwise. Apparently there is a 20 stop 'tapas crawl' you could do one evening but we didn't get the time.

Review 30:Quite a steep walk up from the pool, but nice little rest points.

Review 31:Peaceful quiet and for 'grown-ups', Beautiful views, great pool and bar area.

Review 32:I was really disappointed with these things: -Flies were everywhere in the hotel including gest rooms and a restaurant. -Cuisine in a restauant was not good. -Staff who I met were not able to understand English well. (I asked a staff to call a taxi diver who could understad English, but the driver could not, and he charged 30 enros to me only within 30 minutes drive nevertheless he did not have a meter machine.) -Some restaurant staff were uncomfortable to me. (I suppose that they tried to show their friendliness, but I was uncomfortable. Because they spoke to me in a silly manner like "Japan, Japan, Kawaiine, Konichiwa, Anime, Manga!". Unfortunately all Japanese could not welcome such kind of manner.) -All things considered, its accomodation cost was extremely expensive.

Review 33:You can feel the middle-age time's unique atmospher becase it is the hotel which is reformed the middle-age castle. In addition, you can spend your time in tranuile environment.

Review 34:Difficulties finding the place through the streets of Carmona

Review 35:Wonderful facilities - room, dining, relaxing, pool. Excellent breakfast . incredible views; very friendly staff

Review 36:On arrival in Carmina, driving to the hotel, I didn't drive far enough to see the sign to the Parador and took a wrong turn. Ended up in a narrow street with millimetres of space either side of the car. With local assistance, managed to manoeuvre and find my way onto the right road.

Review 37:The magnificent pool was a welcome relief from the 40degree heat of the day. Superb setting with the fort above and the view all around. The Parador was a delightful glimpse of history and the luxury of Moorish times.

Review 38:A/C could have been stronger in room. Otherwise an excellent place.

Review 39:Great view, pretty town, beautiful common areas. Very good restaurant in parador. Amazing restaurant in town, La Almorzara. Exceptionally nice staff. Beautiful swimming pool. Attractive, modern bathroom.

Review 40:Not every room with the said nice view. Our room(same price or even more expensive than others) has only a small window facing parking lot. Staff are unfriendly. Toilet is dirty when we checked in.

Review 41:The food in the restaurant was quite ordinary, considering how expensive it was. We have eaten much better for much less in other places in Spain. Quite a limited menu.

Review 42:The views were fabulous. The swimming pool was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable with top quality sheets. The bathroom was lovely too. The staff at reception and in the bar were delightful.

Review 43:No bad experience. A shuttle minibus to the centre a couple of times a day would be useful

Review 44:Location and spectacular views. Beautiful buildings and gardens maintained to a very high standard. Extremely helpful staff.

Review 45:Nothing!

Review 46:Superb view from the room and from the restaurant, very clean and nicely decorated room, good wi-fi. We just stayed here for one night, and regretted that we should have stayed here one more night just to enjoy the view and atmosphere.

Review 47:Did not have a bad experience, I think the rooms are sparse for the price and no coffee in the room or in the parador itself until the restaurant opens at 8AM. This is not a big deal, just inconvenient.

Review 48:View from our balcony, closeness to old town, cleanliness of the hotel itself.

Review 49:We were disappointed with the dinner. Starter was over-salted. Waiter did not offer a replacement - or seem in any way concerned. There did not seem to be a Maitre D'. We expect better of a Parador. Other courses very good.

Review 50:Our second visit to Carmona. We took the guided tour of the town, in a little red open bus. The guide was very informative. The old town is small, with a 5000 year old history. Lots of little narrow streets, and well worth spending time there.

Review 51:Food was not so good, weird menu...fully expecting 5 star dining. It was actually very noisy in the room, almost like someone was rearranging the furniture above us.

Review 52:Staff was great!!

Review 53:None except we need a car to reach.

Review 54:Demonstrating a good old day of Spain. Nothing had been much changed since i stayed in 1980's and 90's. Staff is good and food is good, offering some local dishes. Town of Carmona is charming.

Review 55:Only thing I was disappointed in was there was no tea and coffee in the room......maybe a small thing but most hotels have this now and I feel a Parador of this standard should offer this service.

Review 56:The hotel was exquisite, with a courtyard in the centre to just sit and have coffee etc, and only a short walk into the old town if you want to wander around.

Review 57:The reception service could have been better. No help with luggage offered and no-one showed us to our room. I think hotel is understaffed and also is due for some refurbishment of the bedrooms.

Review 58:Wonderful ancient building. The Central Moorish courtyard with a fountain is exquisite. Food is excellent, as we have found is generally then case in Paradors.

Review 59:The location and the incredible view made this a truly memorable stay. The magnificence of the building is matched by the charm and comfort of the rooms.

Review 60:Poor service during afternoon at bar and slow check out next morning.

Review 61:The location, the views, the building itself, the history of the place, comfort of room, the town of Carmona.

Review 62:the quality of the food at dinner is unfortunately quite modest (for some reason often in Paradores). breakfast is good though.

Review 63:the location and atmosphere of the place (as most Paradores ) spacious room, very clean, pleasant facilities, good staff.

Review 64:The décor in our room was tired and the rugs had dirty stains. The hairdryer had exposed wires. The 2 barmen were grumpy to the point of rudeness. In the restaurant none of the waiters refilled our glasses, enquired if we had enjoyed the meal, asked us if we would like dessert or coffee and did not act in a professional manner as you would expect from a Parador. The meal was forgettable. In a small restaurant nearby the food was much better, the staff attentive and friendly and much better value for money. The restaurant reminded us of a canteen and we felt abandoned and invisible. Extremely disappointing as we had been looking forward to our first stay in a Parador.

Review 65:Excellent location and great views.

Review 66:The light in the room - and long-long corridors is very deam. inpossible to read. the beautiful public area on the terrace and at the center of the Parador atracts many outside visitors. it makes the area very noisy and it makes it almost impossible for the hotel guests to find a plce to sit!! the food in the restaurant wasvery moderate yet, very expensive.

Review 67:Very friendly staff. Old building with a lot of character. Beautiful public areas, very nicely decorated. Very spacious room. Beautiful dinning room and good breakfast.

Review 68:I booked a room for three. but the third one which is made by sofa. I got a three years old kid, not safe at all.

Review 69:a king's palace builded by peter I Breakfast is great

Review 70:I've stayed at other Paradors that have been more interesting as castle ruins.

Review 71:The hotel was very comfortable and beautiful. Food and drink were a bit pricey but excellent. Staff was very helpful and good.

Review 72:Absolutely nothing!

Review 73:Beautiful old Parador with breathtaking views. Jose and all his staff did an outstanding job of making our stay wonderful. The views for their terrace are unbelievable. Beautiful pool which we totally enjoyed. The food at the Parador restaurant was awesome! Loved everything about this Parador ion Carmona!

Review 74:Well restaured old fortress/castle approx. 30 km outside Sevilla. Well furnished with comfortable sitting areas and restaurant. Beautiful view over surrounding areas. Highly recommended

Review 75:Evening meal was not as good as expected. Groups booked in were focus of dining room staff and we felt rushed and unimportant

Review 76:Setting on top of cliff gave superb views

Review 77:Woken up by footsteps from the room above. One of the pitfalls of being an old building.

Review 78:We only stayed one night on the way out of Andalucia and were pleased with the experience. The best being the view and the nice demeanour of the staff. We also had a great dinner there, lovely traditional Spanish food. We got there by car and it was easy as well as good parking.

Review 79:opening hours of the pool no service at the pool bar (not even for a coffee!) rooms are a little old fashioned there is potential to make a gem of this magnificent place, too bad it is not properly uplifted...

Review 80:The location the pool the grandeur of the decor

Review 81:The only small downside was the pigeons in the central courtyard - theydominated that space which was a shame as it put many residents offusing it. However, at least it was possible to enjoy a view of thecourtyard from a comfortable sofa in a huge baronial air-conditionedroom to one side, with a glass wall! It would have been nice if the poolcould open earlier too. I was keen to enjoy a few lengths in the earlymorning but was unable to access it until 11am.

Review 82:The Parador is situated on the edge of the town of Carmona withbreathtaking views across the Andalucian plains. We were efficientlychecked in upon arrival (we took a taxi from Seville airport to Carmona)and our luggage taken for us to our room which had large picture windowsand Juliet balconies. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioningefficient (although it was great to open the windows and enjoy the freshair some of the time too). The bathroom was a little tired but perfectlyserviceable and clean. The historic setting and beautifully restoredrooms of the Parador provide plenty of opportunities to chill out. Asthe Parador was our base for a few days, we enjoyed a few tapas mealsand drinks in the main drawing room as well as the bar which overlooksthe terrace and on the terrace itself which has far reaching viewsincluding to the swimming pool below. We had dinner on one occasion inthe main restaurant which has a wonderful ambience. However we foundthat a small restaurant, five minutes walk from the Parador, called LaYedra served fantastic cuisine and good quality wine at a fair price. Our main day out was to Cordoba to visit the Mezquita and explore thebeautiful city there. We travelled to Cordoba by bus - there's one aday which goes from the centre of Carmona - about 10 minutes walk fromthe Parador. Breakfasts were taken in a little square in Carmona, whereit was possible to enjoy al fresco toast, coffee, jam and orange juicefor two for just 6 euros. Of course, an absolute highlight of theParador is the large swimming pool which is the perfect temperaturedespite being unheated. It's surrounded by comfortable sun loungersand you can always find a space in the shade too, thanks to the cleverlydesigned space around the pool. Staff provide towels.

Review 83:The inadquate use of spaces in the building: for example no breakfast on the terrace. This is a well-run state company with the famiiliar rigidities and lack of imagination.

Review 84:The room with the view. The shaded parking spaces. The pool. The breakfast.

Review 85:The wonderful location at the top of the town. Great choice for breakfast.

Review 86:Ambiance and interior decoration. Staff were charming and non intrusive. Views from the rooms as well as fascinating town to explore.

Review 87:Nothing beats a Parador

Review 88:Unique historical setting and view.

Review 89:Nothing

Review 90:Lovely Parador, with distant views, good food at reasonable price, this was a return visit after many years and it didn't disappoint

Review 91:Location, Staff were very professional

Review 92:Excellent corner balcony room, excellent staff and facilities

Review 93:Stunning hotel and grounds.fabulous pool and gardens..

Review 94:Beautiful views from the terrace balcony.

Review 95:The staff in in the breakfast room could be politer in such a hotel. Also cleaning works could be done after the breakfast time.

Review 96:The location.

Review 97:pidgeon droppings and mess over courtyard and furniture, big problem

Review 98:location, food .pool.

Review 99:Drive through Carmona to get there.

Review 100:The magic of the Parador and location

Review 101:Loved having drinks on the terrace on dusk and loved the pool.

Review 102:meal,wine prices but I am mean .

Review 103:location ,character

Review 104:dinner menu disappointing

Review 105:opening hours of swimming pool, very unreasonable considering time of year

Review 106:Location and restaurant

Review 107:Great location. Pool area very welcome in the heat of August. Carmona is a lovely town

Review 108:Room was small, shower water flowed out of the tub uncontrollably

Review 110:Flies at pool

Review 111:Service, location and food

Review 116:Everything

Review 117:Nothing - it was there to enjoy

Review 118:Excellent staff, wonderful views from the room, good pool,

Review 119:Very uncomfortable bed. Air con needs improvement.

Review 120:Wonderful pool and setting with great views. Fabulous food in restaurant, amazing desserts.

Review 121:Ambience old fashioned and dinner menu poor

Review 122:Setting and views.

Review 123:Atmosphere very Spanish

Review 124:Disappointing food in the restaurant. Uninspiring and poor value for money.

Review 125:Location, view and the building. Staff were helpful. On site parking.
