Reviews for Pension Karner

Review 1:Actually nothing much don't like. And just when we parking there, hotel neighbor grandpa had problem. Shouting when we leave...stupid.

Review 2:Room, view, parking.

Review 3:would be nice for the bin to be emptied & bed made (but they're just minor hotel luxuries!)

Review 4:breakfast, right next to the forest and easy access to trails, great decor.

Review 5:Very friendly and welcoming host, fantastic breakfast provided and great value for money. Short 25 min walk from Lautersee, stunning mountain views and a good place to be based for discovering the surrounding area. Would highly recommend!

Review 6:Pension Karner was a great place to stay. Linda and her daughter could not have been more accommodating, they were warm and welcoming, made us feel like home. The daily breakfast was delicious.

Review 7:Trouble finding light for stair. A sensor would be good.

Review 8:The breakfast was outstanding. The entrance to the house was very welcoming with candles and pumpkins.

Review 9:Nothing bad. Everything about our stay was excellent.

Review 10:A very pleasant guest house with friendly and helpful hosts. Great location with mountain views. Near lovely walks and near centre of a picturesque village.

Review 11:It's not too closed to train station, but it's not a problem. Mittenwald is such a small and beautiful town. You can find the pension very easily. It's closed to wonderful lake Lautersee, about 25 minutes walk. I arrived there 2 hrs before check-in time, but they let me in immediately.

Review 12:Excellent access to Lautersee trails. Out of the tourist zone in the center of town but not far to walk from train station. Balcony with view of Karwendel -- truly dramatic. Friendly owner

Review 13:One of our rooms did not have en-suite but it wan't a problem for a group of guys!

Review 14:Great little hotel (guest house) conveniently located in a quiet part of Mittenwald but only 5 mins walk into the centre. Lovely family atmosphere and Linda the owner is really helpful. Felt like staying over with some friends!

Review 15:The bed is a bit short and the cover a bit too thick for my liking. Having a fridge somewhere accessible would have been nice to cool my drinks for sports or have a beer at my balcony in the evening.

Review 16:Great location near the city center, nicely tucked towards the hills/mountains behind it. Stunning view from my room, and nice balcony. Separate bathroom and toilet which I knew upfront but were very clean even when I showered multiple times a day after running or mountainbiking.

Review 17:Light wooden floor so staying in 1st floor is a bit uncomfortable if you want to go downstair in the midnight as everything seems move with you

Review 18:Very friendly host, and helpful when I asked for the electric converter, it seems that they have everything ready for asking :). They smile and sing all the time

Review 19:Other reviews suggest a better experience than we had, so maybe we were just unlucky. Felt rather tired.

Review 20:If it is a priority for you to have English speaking owners this could suit.

Review 21:Bed hard and creaky. Wi fi not good even though advertised as available in all areas. No house keeping so rubbish bin not emptied in our 3 night stay.

Review 22:Good breakfast. David was welcoming and friendly.

Review 23:Weather was very hot and there was no AC and also no fan . . . no way to circulate the air in the room or to draw in cooler outside air. Also Parking was very limited. Location in the town was a bit out of the way, and shower was cramped.

Review 24:Setting and breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful, and made a good recommendation for dinner. Also the price was quite good for a summertime in such a beautiful and popular city.

Review 25:Great hospitality by the host. The location is walking distance to the town center. Mittenwald is definitely a place that I would come back. Very peaceful town with great food around. I love the awesome alps view from our room. Lovely town.......

Review 26:Owners were wonderful, really friendly and full of useful advice.Great location,5 mins from town but on the outskirts in quiet street.Nice rooms and great breakfast.

Review 27:Linda and David are outstanding hosts. They treat you like family and welcome you to Mittenwald. Just minutes away from walking trails. Delicious breakfast, great conversation and memorable experience.

Review 28:Just a short walk from the Lautersee and the waterfall, which was perfect for me as I came to hike. Less than a 15-minute walk to the center of town and the rail station. The owners were incredibly friendly and hospitable, offering very helpful suggestions about things to do and places to eat in the area. They even lent me a rain coat to use for the day as I did not have one. The breakfast was a wonderful German-style breakfast with an assortment of bread (with jam, butter, honey, etc.), fruit salad, cured meats, cheese, and an optional egg. I was also served a perfect pot of Earl Grey tea. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely stay here.

Review 29:-nobody at check-in -had to climb out of window as staff forgot to give us appropriate key -internet did not work in room -tv stopped working during rainfall. No staff available to fix problem -"laissez-faire" attitude of owner

Review 30:-tips on walks and restaurants by owner

Review 31:Having to go downstairs to the bathroom. I knew when I booked that the bathroom was separate with this room but didn't know we had to go downstairs. I believe there are only two bedrooms without en-suites - just book one with an en-suite and you will have a great stay.

Review 32:Everything except having to go downstairs to the bathroom. The owners super friendly, breakfast wonderful. Position perfect - close to everything.

Review 33:Hosts are really lovely. Bedrooms are so lovingly decorated and furnished. Breakfast was awesome ( I especially adore the knitted chicken shape egg cover) This place makes me feel like home and being looked after. And Mittenwald is just soooo beautiful.

Review 34:We had to leave. :(

Review 35:David & Linda(the owners) were amazing, we stayed here for 3 weeks. They made us feel like we had known each other for years. Gave us tips on what to see & where to eat. Mamma Lucia..OMG was awesome. Any question or concerns we had were answered. They would even make phone calls to make sure things were open. The breakfast was always wonderful. The room was perfect for us. Location was not to far from town. The view...I can't even explain it. Breath taking comes to mind. We loved it here, & if or when we return we will most definitely be staying at Pension Karner. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Linda & David for everything. You all are the best!!

Review 36:No housekeeping, cash only, no receipt, cost more than quote, breakfast only after 8 AM, when we had to leave earlier, asked about tourist card on first night of 3 but never received one.

Review 37:If they have shower gel and shampoo provided. That would be perfect :D

Review 38:We really love the decoration of the room and everything and it feels like home. It's also near the trail to get the two lakes in Mittenwald.

Review 39:The owners Linda & David combine Bavarian hospitality with Scottishflair. Their advice on restaurants and walks proved invaluable. The viewis perfect, the service excellent and personal -- it's the best ofstaying with good friends. Enjoy!!

Review 40:Nothing!

Review 41:Everything was really good. Located close to town. Free parking. Nice room, good bed and bathroom too. David was a great host with a great breakfast and lots of good advice on what to do in the area.

Review 42:Off-season is very quiet, though that was expected.

Review 43:Great atmosphere! Decoration was very nice and rooms were well stocked (DVDs, board games). Instant coffee and assortment of teas in the room. Great views, even despite the weather. Breakfast was very personable and well done. Mittenwald was very nice too, even while traveling off-season and just passing through. Found a nice bar where we enjoyed a few Mittenwalder beers.

Review 44:The Germans and Brits have something in common: the best breakfast in the world. At Karner you get the synergistic effect of it being in Mittenwald but run by a couple originally from Scotland. This is a wonderful place -- quiet, great view, excellent facilities. I haven't slept this well in years.

Review 45:This pension has q great location with beautiful views and walks nearby. The quaint city is also nearby with various forms of entertainment. The owners are very helpful in every way.

Review 46:This is a lovely place in a beautiful town. The owners of this pension were gracious and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful with a great variety of items. The location is near main attractions and great nature hikes.

Review 47:The window to my balcony offered a lovely view of the Alps. The owner isScottish, so it's a great stop for English speakers. Wonderfulbreakfasts in a lovely dining room. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 48:Nothing to mention.

Review 49:Our double room was totally cozy, just like the pictures we saw on booking.com. Mittenwald worth the visit, and we hope to come back soon for more days. The Pension is full of lovely details inside and outside. Breakfast was great, prepared by David himself. Everything fresh and tasteful.

Review 50:This was the first time I was misled by booking.com's rating system. There is no way this pension is an 8.6! It was even my wife's birthday and I wanted to treat her to a nice place. So this booking was so disappointing especially just coming from a very nice hotel in France. When I booked the room it stated "room with balcony" but when I checked in I received a ground floor room with two windows with no privacy from the street. It was also right next to the main entrance and stairs which created lots of noise late at night when people returned in the evening. No sound proofing between the first floor and second. Could hear the people above walking around and talking. States "Internet in all areas" but I had no connection and had to sit in stairway to get Internet. The bed was the cheap two twin style beds put together to make a double and was very uncomfortable. Cannot check in until 4 PM and no way of getting a hold of anyone before that time. Breakfast was just average. It was definitely not scrumptious. Never received or even told about the tourist discount card which you can use around town. The main room was ok but the bathroom area looked really out of date and smelled like an old person. The towels were even old looking. It felt dirty to walk on the bathroom floor.

Review 51:nothing

Review 52:We stay at the Karner Haus for two nights but it was not enough. We wanted to stay longer but was booked up quickly. David was very friendly and helpful with some local info. The breakfast room is so cute.

Review 53:Beautiful, cosy place with a lot of small nice things; the owner and his family are very nice and helpful, the location is perfect, all together it makes Haus Karner the best place to stay in Mittenwald. I already miss it a lot!

Review 54:The term "Separate Bathroom" was misleading as it ended up being a shared bathroom. Limited parking and a bit outside the center of town.

Review 55:Good breakfast and very well decorated and clean facilities.

Review 56:There was nothing to dislike - nothing at all - so sad we've had to book into another hotel for next year boo hoo

Review 57:It was like heaven - super atmosphere (with candles) in breakfast room - smoked salmon - boiled eggs with wooly hats on- easy walk to centre of Mittenwald - views to die for from our beautiful room and balcony - Have just tried to book again for next year - full up so must be good - Thanks again David - Sue and Dave UK
