Reviews for Hotel Puerto de la Cruz

Review 1:The hotel is located on the top of the hill. There are a lot of stairs to reach the city center. This is very tiring!

Review 2:staff is very friendly. The food is very good

Review 3:Food at night never hot unless cooked while you waited .Had to ask for table to be set by waiter and ask for drinks with dinner most evenings. Pillows on beds were very uncomfortable

Review 4:Hotel good location. Quiet not rowdy. room comfortable clean. Had entertainment if you wanted to stay in at night.

Review 5:Refridigiator is at extra cost. If you take ar room with the very nice mountain view it can be noisy from the street witch is far, but up to the hill,so everybody exhilarats. If you too prefere the mountain view take the room in the top 2-3 levels

Review 6:It looked boring in the begining, but after visiting other 2 hotel in Tenerife this one looked like a dream. Clean, renovated bathroom, has AC, comfortable mattress, two nice outside pools

Review 7:The buffet food was always cold and had to reheat it in a microwave. The hotels disco closed at 12 midnight which we felt was a bit early.

Review 8:The all inclusive deal was ideal as the hotel is about 15 mins walk away. The staff was great and more than willing to help.

Review 9:Only one pillow. Entertainment not our choice, but many would like it. Was told shorts were not allowed. In restaurant, but lots of people wearing shorts.

Review 10:Friendly staff, value for money.

Review 11:The location and the fact that it was an older hotel and required some upgrade in places.

Review 12:We were visiting Puerto from the south for the Festival of San Juan and booked for one night only. The price for half-board was unbeatable and we enjoyed the hotel. There was free parking and the general ambience around the hotel and pool was good however I would not wish to stay for any more than a few nights as the location is part way up a the hillside above Puerto and the meal choice, although plentiful and of good quality, looked to me like it would become too familiar

Review 13:Not worth the money, left a day early! Prices were ridiculous so go all inclusive. Also when the weather wasn't so good and you wanted to watch TV there was only one English Channel and thousands of German channels!!!! Nothing actually wow'd me about the hotel to be honest! I went for 2 days for my birthday and asked for a double bed but received to single ones. not complaining but as a frequent traveler to Tenerife and my grandmother living in guimar, we will know tell people of better hotels to stay where you can get to stay in the Spanish culture of pureto de la cruz. Also there was no free wifi!

Review 14:The pool

Review 15:Paid wi-fi.

Review 16:We stayed only 2 nights on the North. Good location.Close to Teide, airport, even sunny La Arena beach on the South is quite close!;)....Loro & Bot.garden nearby.Free parking.

Review 17:Wifi was free only in the hall and it was very poor. Safe had to be paid too.

Review 18:The location was good, close to beach and restaurants. We had a rented car and there were always parking spaces on the road next to the hotel. We had a balcony and could see the sea Buffet had a big selection

Review 19:The room allocated was warm as there was no Air circulation. I was told the air conditioning is operated only during summer months. The rooms were hot as there was no air circulation. So had disturbed sleep as we were sweating at night.

Review 20:Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 21:Staff was pleasant, but limited in their helpfulness or resourcefulness. If they were unsure or didn't know an answer to a question, they wouldn't look it up on the internet to help out the guest. They also could not change money (cash). I stayed here 24yrs ago when they were under Melia hotel management and they were a first rate hotel. Sorry to say that they have eroded a bit since then. However, it is still a good hotel and I would stay there again.

Review 22:Was a quiet room with balcony and ocean view. Had a safe in the room and met all my basic needs.

Review 23:Internet connection was so slow that almost never worked for me. Air conditioning in the room was not working as well. Rooms were outdated. Food medium quality. Huge noise from the street even in the night. Not recommended.

Review 24:Our room had no air conditioning which we complained about three timesand the electric in our room went off twice. The first two nights I hadno sleep at all but the third night they did provide me with a fan. Wedid not have a fridge in our room which was advertised. We were notbothered about a mini bar but it woud have been nice to store cold waterfor on a morning. Two nights out of the three we were queing between 20and 25 minutes for 2 small beers as there were only two staff on. We donot knock the staff as they coped as best they could but in a 300 roomhotel which is in peak season there should have been more staff or thepool bar should have been left open. We asked for a drink at one minuteto half past 11 and were refused. We have been too many all inclusivehotels both in tenerife and world wide and this was by far the worst.Luckily for us we were only there for 3 days and not a proper 2 weekholiday. In my opinion 292 euros for a 3 night stay in that hotel wasdisgusting. I look forward to hearing your comments.

Review 25:Told my husband had to wear long trousers in dining room in the evening-went out to buy a pair. At least 12 men in the dining room wearing shorts and nothing was said to them. Should be same rule for all!!! Not impressed. Wont be back!!! Guys-wear your shorts!!!!!

Review 26:Thought the food was a bit bland although desserts very good

Review 27:Staff were pleasant and helpful

Review 28:got 2 beds instead of 1, kept falling through the middle!

Review 29:great views, good breakfast and excellent value for money.

Review 30:Tasty breakfast, nice view.

Review 31:great value for money and clean

Review 32:Nothing particular occurred that I would strongly object to.

Review 33:Breakfasts were buffet style with vast choices and plenty of it.

Review 34:our only complaint is that you have to pay for a fridge in the room and it was not cold

Review 35:the staff all of them were excellent they made us feel special

Review 36:The weather

Review 37:The hotel was very nice and well presented

Review 38:nice hotel, polite staff, beautifull view, not so far from the center....

Review 39:Poor breakfast Old styled (no modern) rooms Staff not the best but OK

Review 40:Location on the Hill 2 swimming pools Free parking Nice reception area

Review 41:Free Wifi not a good strength in hall. The walk back up the hill.

Review 42:Spacious and clean bedrooms and public areas.

Review 43:Very dark corridors hard bed flat pillows

Review 44:Free wifi large areas for sitting clean rooms nice large bedroom and good bathroom

Review 45:Wish they had more choice in the all inclusive bar however it's adequate

Review 46:Staff extremely friendly and helpful, room extremely comfortable & it feels very relaxing atmosphere

Review 47:- no fridge in the room (and then manager brought an empty fridge) - no room service - double room as family room - wii's price per room actually is price per device in the room (20 euros/room = 20 euros/ device in the room)

Review 48:The heated swimming pool

Review 49:Much noise from traffic. Wifi in room did not work, paid a lot, no refund. Cramped space in downstairs pool area. This hotel seems to be mostly for elderly German tourists, which is fine, if one speaks German...

Review 50:Professional management. Friendly and efficient staff on all levels. Good food, good cooks. Nice location and views to the ocean or to Teide mountain.

Review 51:1. Garage is a nightmare, but cannot really be changed. 2. Generally the staff were excellent, but once or twice we received very abrupt and unhelpful responses to very simple questions/requests. One member of staff was particularly unhelpful, and seemed to have an issue with 'all inclusive' guests (personal opinion - but he did make the point on more than one occaision). 3. The food was very repetitive, and not high quality. On many occaisions the food was just not hot enough to consider taking, which remained a theme for our 10 day stay. Although 'all inclusive' we cannot comment on lunch as we never took lunch at the hotel. 4. The dinner dress code for men was not reflected by the dress state of many ladies - sadly! It is pointless to ask gentlemen to wear long trouser if ladies appear in the shortest cut off jeans shorts. 5. The entertainment area was too small to cater for the hotel size, leading to a very 'first come first served' option, normally won by the very punctual German contingent. 6. No internet available in the room, even when it was paid for. It just did not function for the rooms at the ends of corridors. Consideration should be given to including internet in rooms for all inclusive guests. 7. No sea view - although it was stated this was not possible when booking. 8. Having to politely point out to staff that there were cockeroaches running around on the food presentation trolley. Sadly at this point we chose to no longer take lunch and dinner for the last two nights.

Review 52:1. Great room. 2. Most of the staff were wonderful, and very prompt to respond to our needs or questions (most). 3. A great policy for not booking loungers with a towel. 4. Well organised and well staffed, especially during meal times.

Review 53:we didn't have a fridge in our room. we had use taxi's all the time as it was up a steep hill, otherwise we enjoyed staying at the hotel. the car park was a bit dificult

Review 54:the staff were helpfull and it was clean

Review 55:the parking in the garage is difficult. the food was good but almost the same every day.

Review 56:the room with the sea veiw. The entertaiment in the evenings, the courtensy of the staff at the front desk.Cleanes of the hotel and the room.

Review 57:All inclusive was not as it should be. Outside main restaurant hours thepool bar served food but at a cost! All be it reduced by 50% how ever abasic sandwich with this discount still cost the same as the cafe acrossthe road. Restaurant had free icecream but pool bar did not which whenyou have children is not so good. I feel misled and would rate the allinclusive more as a full board. Ok local drinks were free but verylimited and certainly not worth the extra we paid.unless you consume ahuge amount of liquid refreshment it is better to pay half board.Parking is a lottery.we arrived on friday, were issued a parking permitfor our stay and parked that day with no problems . Saturday and sundaywe could not park at the hotel. Hotel car park was full leaving us todrive round the area hoping for a space. Staff seemed Uninterested .theybasicaly issued a permit to any one regardless of the limited spacesavailable. Rooms Clean and Comfortable but threadbare carpet. Statedthat bathroom had a hydrotub. But it doesn't, just very small normalbath.very clean though.no bathrobe. No slippers. No minibar. Basicallyvery little of the services or facilities as described on the booking.com site were actually avaliable or given.

Review 58:Clean, comfortable bedroom.restaurant choice average.

Review 59:Some trouble in the reception, they thought we were Russians, instead of Swedes, as shown the passports. A lot of peoble from Germany were living in the hotel and they thought everyone were from Germany.

Review 60:Good location of the hotel close to the centre. Super breakfast. Nice swiming pools. Good parking possibility for the car in the garage.

Review 61:Puerto de la Cruz was fine for us, but as the hotel is on a hill, older people would struggle if they wanted to go down to the sea and would have to have transport to get back up to the Hotel.

Review 62:Staying there was good value for money and the nightly entertainment was varied and enjoyable.

Review 63:due to the bad weather it was cold in the room and the heating would not work

Review 64:Overall we enjoyed our stay allthough the weather was very bad ,but this was not the hotels fault

Review 65:Going for dinner or breakfast was like a stampede every day. Not much choice. Rooms were very uncomfortable. Horrible noisy beds which made it impossible to sleep. Walls were so thin you could hear a needle drop in the room next door. This hotel is no way a 4 star. Maybe 20yrs ago. I will not stay again or recommend this hotel to anyone!

Review 66:Checking out!

Review 67:The rooms are tiny.We had three beds in our room and we couldn'tmove. The beds were so old and uncomfortable we couldn't sleep andhad to request extra pillows. The breakfast was cold and choice poor fora four star hotel. The hotel is dated and old and staff have no ideaabout customer service and professionalism. We spent one night and thenchecked out.

Review 68:We didn't like anything about this hotel. We checked out the nextmorning. This is not a four star hotel.

Review 69:staff of dining room do no speak english and only answer the third call, no refrige&LCD, no variety of food, it's a 3 star

Review 70:view Atlantic&Teide

Review 71:The advertised wifi was broken pretty much the whole time. I got it to work for a grand total of 10 minutes. during my 2 day stay. When I asked the hotel staff about it, they just told me "yes there is a problem" and nothing else, even when I tried to prod them further. They did not seem very concerned about this problem. I noticed a review from almost a month ago where the wifi was also broken so I assume this is a long term problem they are not very interested in fixing. This might not be such a big deal for many travelers but I had some very important mails to read so I ended up having to walk down to a nearby bar to use their wifi instead. This is okay, but I expected to be able to use the wifi at the hotel as advertised.

Review 72:The location was good, the town of Puerto de la Cruz is very nice and the hotel is situated on a hill. To get down to the beachside, you walk down a nice little road and I quite liked doing that. Breakfast was pretty good.

Review 73:Disappointment. Maintenance is extremely slow, in arrival we noticed that balcony room cannot get locked and notified the reception. After two hours we requested to change the room. Pillows are terrible and the towels contain holes. The hotel description says free wifi access, but it forgets to say that it does no mean internet access: Three days connected to wifi - no internet connection! Does not deserve four stars, maximum two.

Review 74:Room was quite small. Enviroment was definitely suited to mature peopletravelling in group. The wi-fi did not work for the entire duration ofour stay and I had the impression they did not try hard to fix it as thepeople staying there are almost entirely over 65 people who do not usecomputers. Very basic amenities.

Review 75:Good location, not right on the sea level but only about hundred stepsor 15 minutes from sea level and the old city. They have a free parking.

Review 76:No kettles in the rooms, and twin beds pushed together rather than a double.

Review 77:The upper pool, table tennis tables and tennis court are fantastic, with an amazing view of Mount Teide to boot. Also, parking at the hotel for the hire car was a major plus.

Review 78:No english speaking staff in restaurant.

Review 79:Friendly staff in reception.

Review 80:a little like an old folks home at time

Review 81:heated pool, happy hour, location

Review 82:A play ground for children.

Review 83:Every thing was suitable and we enjoyed it.

Review 84:Dålig

Review 85:No free minibar as promised, we had to rent an empty one.

Review 86:Wonderful view to Teide. No noise from neighbour rooms.

Review 87:this hotel have just 3 stars , not 4stars

Review 88:It's fare from the beach

Review 89:Nice hotel, big rooms, good choice for breakfast

Review 90:All perfect, all amazing, but the fact that there was no expresso for breakfast

Review 91:The water of shower is bad,it's smell like swimming pool, and make myhair just like weed...

Review 92:Warm welcome, friendly and helpful staff, nice and clean rooms, close to public transport, walking distance to town centre and beaches
