Reviews for Hostal Tarifa

Review 1:small room, no shampoo for one of the 3 days we were there.some traffic noise

Review 2:good location , close to train -3 mins walk and bus station- 5 min.clean room, pleasant staff.

Review 3:Very satisfied of all services in the hostal. Friedly, kind staff, Comfortable, spacious, well designed and modern room. Very clean hostal. Nice, central location.Highly recommended. Not far from the maritime station from where ferry boats to Tangier, Morocco should be taken. Special thanks to the Hostal Tarifa staff!

Review 4:Only complaint was some very noisy neighbours arguing down the corridor then talking very loudly at night in their room next-door. They continued til 3 or 4am, partly spoiling the stay. I wish I'd complained to the management on the night.

Review 5:This hostal was mostly great - a good price, nice location, secure parking, and recently built/rennovated - and they have a couple of motorbike-only spaces at a reduced price. The room was basic but comfortable. We'd have stayed another night if we had time.

Review 6:I was staying there for one night before taking the ferry to Tangier. It is really great value for money and near to the port. The staff is very helpful and gave me a detailed map to walk to the port. I would recommend to my friends.

Review 7:Super clean, modern. A nice sized room for a solo traveller - normally rooms are tiny - this was quite spacious. Staff were very accomodating as I arrived early but was no problem to check me in as a room was ready.

Review 8:Parking can be awkward. It's expensive in the hotel car park, but we managed to get a space right outside.

Review 9:Everything was good about this place. I would go back again. It was also very central for what we wanted to do: Wander around the area and try different restaurants etc.

Review 10:Breakfast was not flash but as it is something extra you pay for there are better options down the street.

Review 11:A clean functional room close walking distance to the beach and harbor. Good underground carpark provided below the building. Very good value for money.

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Felt welcomed lovely helpful friendly staff..excellent rates. .v clean comfy room. .superb all round..v good value would hugely recommended to fellow travellwrs. .noisy night cos of fiesta but amazing horse parade..loved it all

Review 14:One front desk woman not happy and compared to other it was tremendously noticeable.

Review 15:Breakfast availability and at great price. One woman at desk fantastic, another one not so happy. Located close to bus station so worked for us; others may want location closer to city center. I liked outside courtyard from my room that had 5 tables with chairs.

Review 16:The hotel has a perfect location on the main shopping street of Tarifa, about 5 minutes walk from the old town. Very nice and helpful staff, clean and quiet rooms and cool interior.

Review 17:Great location, 5 minute walk from old town and bus station.Lovely clean rooms with en-suite bathroom, great shower etc. No balcony but outside terrace for communal use. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on this.

Review 18:i choose this place for its parking garage. i had car with kite gear. there seem to be no space, and had to search for a spot every day. what is not easy. had to take my gear out every day

Review 19:Location is perfect, clean and good hot strong shower

Review 20:Would like a second pillow each on the bed. There was a whistling noise due to air being sucked in or out when windows were cracked.

Review 21:Either a new or remodeled building. Liked the big windows and light, and the pretty tiled bathrooms. Lots of electrical outlets in the room! We enjoyed the sofas in the breakfast room. Excellent location for walking to the old city and port.

Review 22:Noise from the street, that is what you get for a central place though. Mattress was not very comfortable.

Review 23:Very clean, good wi-fi connection, great staff.

Review 24:Could not see their bar area open for breakfast?

Review 25:Location great, good value for money, very clean & tidy, rooms very modern & comfortable with air con & wifi.

Review 26:Distinct lack of toiletries. Luckily we had our own with us.

Review 27:Everything was fresh and clean. Central location for the feria, beach and old town. Brilliant!!!

Review 28:The only bad thing i would say is that the bathroom door is frosted and you can see more than you want to see or would want others to see through it!

Review 29:Great location, about 5 minutes walk from the center of old town. The room basic but suited our needs for the weekend with having a comfortable bed, private bathroom and a powerful shower. Overall great hostel experience!

Review 30:Manager was not nice to us when we arrived. He asked us were we booked into the hostel next door and our booking was a mistake. We had just spend the day on the beach and looked a bit shoddy I guess. Height of rudeness however. Other staff were nice.

Review 31:Location was great. Rooms very nice

Review 32:-shower large and powerful -bed was very comfortable -on sight secure parking -central location -air conditioned -free wifi in all areas

Review 33:The rooms look nice but the tile effect means they are not great for sound proofing. The hotel is very popular with backpackers who tend not to modulate their voices at any time of day meaning it can be quite noisy.

Review 34:The hostal is in a good position, with free parking on the street near by. The public areas are marble and tile and kept scrupulously clean. Tarifa itself is lovely with nice beaches and and a quant old town with a very relaxed feel. Aircon was very effective and wifi worked well

Review 35:The price- ecen considering that the hostel is great, it just cannot cost 135€/night for a double room

Review 36:Great location, very nice rooms, super clean and comfy.

Review 37:wall isolation is not made good and there was lots of noises, it was not possible to sleep. even we could hear people making pipi in the room next door.

Review 38:Location and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 39:Very clean and tidy. Close to the beach, shops and attractions. The staff were very nice and helpful and they have parking! We arrived late for breakfast but staff went out of their way the feed us - we were very pleased.

Review 40:I get that Tarifa is a hot spot, but this is the most we have paid for this kind of room in Spain.

Review 41:Very helpful staff. Super clean room. Great location.

Review 42:Noise from rooms next door-no insulation it seems. Beds were pretty hard as well.

Review 43:Location-close to bus station and restaurants, staff very nice. VERY clean.

Review 44:Nothing!!

Review 45:We loved everything about the place the staff the rooms we had a wonderful stay I can't work the smiley faces review thing so all I can say is we will be back again and again.

Review 46:Okay place, but very overpriced compared to what you get. The bathroom would get covered in water upon showering as there are no shower curtains or doors.

Review 47:The rooms were big and the bed comfortable. Aircon worked well. Very centric and good location.

Review 48:The beds could be more comfortable, but in general - ok. The price wasn't very low, but the other places around are of the same price level.

Review 49:Location- main street. Private closed parking (extra fee). Everything was very clean and looked new. Our shower was spacious and had a window (in the shower!) :-) Wi-fi.

Review 50:It was a great stay, but... (all things can always get better) Strange that the hostel forgot to inform us about the breakfast opportunities that they have at bottom floor. Why don´t you offer a real "Tarifa breakfast" for a good price. You have a nice place, be proud and offer information about the local area, experiences and ask what the visitors think. It should be fun! Its about service and meeting new people :)

Review 51:I appreciated that this is a new and fresh hostel. With tv, good wifi, lounge area and patio, Overall very nice staff and the value for money they offered, good! We planned to stay 3 nights but ended up with 5 nights. Tarifa itself is pretty small city which makes the hotel a perfect spot, you reach everything in the city within 10 min walk. Thanks for a great tay!

Review 52:Terrible rock hard huge pillows. You are almost sitting if you use them. We used rolled bathroom towels instead. The bed was comfortable though.

Review 53:Hostal Tarifa seems to look much nicer than any other lodging in the area, at least from the outside. Keeping in mind this is hostal not a hotel it is very basic inside. It is super clean and everything looks new inside. It is in a walking distance from a supermarket and from ferry. It has paid parking inside but we easily found free parking just around the corner.

Review 54:The corridors very very noisy late at night with other guests which kept me awake.

Review 55:The room was clean and spacious and the underground parking was very cheap at 10euros a day. We had to leave early before the normal breakfast hours and the wonderful night staff opened up the cafeteria early for us. Couldn't have been more accommodating!

Review 56:Very Clean Hostel Friendly and helpful staff Central location The breakfast offer for two ( there was a special rate for the day we were staying at the hostel , as a result the owners/stuff offered us a breakfast for two worth 10 EUR )

Review 57:The beds were comfy, the staff were lovely and we had everything we needed - including being close to old town. On the last day we had to leave by 11am so they took our bags and placed them in a locked room and we hung around their cafe area on their comfy sofas, which really made the last day more comfortable.

Review 58:Everything about the hostel is quality. From marble staircase to excellent shower & bathroom. Hostel is only 5 minute walk from Tarifa old town which is very nice.

Review 59:Great little village. Private room and bathroom facilities, fast wifi, short walk to many restaurants, bars and beaches. Secure undercover car parking too! Quick and easy check in - check out.

Review 60:Booked this so we could easily get out of the door for our 8am Ferry to Morocco. It was a simple walk to the ferry terminal. The staff directed us to an excellent restaurant for our supper..they were very helpful.

Review 61:Pillow on the bed are dreadful...like rocks.

Review 62:Well placed, so clean and the breakfast is yummy. Staff nice too. Great for group bookings. Took 14 people and they all loved it!

Review 63:Very prompt check in. Parking was convenient. Good location, lots of shops and restaurants near by. The beds were not very comfortable but a great value for the money.

Review 64:Having never stayed in a Hostel before and being a culprit of a preconceived idea, What a total shock to the system, well and truly impressed with the staff the accommodation, underground parking, for my wife and I a brilliant experience through out A five min drive from the port who could ask for more

Review 65:4 minute walk from bus station, 5 minutes to old part of town, 10 minutes to the dock. Modernized, very clean place. Not fancy, but friendly staff, quiet room-even facing the street (windows are double paned) and great wifi.

Review 66:Breakfast very basic for additional price compared to value deal without breakfast. No hot food and poor selection. Also no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 67:Clean, tidy and comfortable. Superb shower. Friendly staff. Nice lounge.

Review 68:Room is described as sound proofed however it was very noisy in the morning. No safe in room and no refrigerator.

Review 69:Cleanliness and convenient location.

Review 70:Only have good things to report.

Review 71:All members of staff were at all times very helpful, nothing too much trouble. All areas of the hotel were spotless. The breakfast was more than acceptable. Thank you for providing a low level table at breakfast- without us asking. Another example of great customer service.

Review 72:Just a cement building extremely noisy at night. Echoes of other guests day and night. Extremely uncomfortable bed giving a bad back and unpleasant start to the day.

Review 73:Seems like a light and easy going place.

Review 74:Keep in mind that no alcohol consumption is allowed in this establishment.

Review 75:Very centrally located, walking distance (less than 5 Minutes) from the old town, the bus station, and the ferry to Tangier. Wifi was outstanding. Although it is called a "Hostal", it is not community living; its a basic room with its own lock, one bed, private shower/toilet, television, maid service, and excellent wifi

Review 76:Nothing special

Review 77:Everything. The girl helped us about a trip to Tanger and was really nice and helpful. Room was warm and comfortable, clean and wifi reaches good the room. There are plenty of place to park around the place

Review 78:No complaints but we had a very brief stay.

Review 79:The room was very clean and modern. We came in the off season so the room was only €40, in a good location, close to shops but not too noisy. Short walk to the port and ferry.

Review 80:Room was cramped for 2 people with lots of bags. Heat could not be controlled.

Review 81:Location near bus very convenient. Reception staff could not have been more helpful.

Review 82:From now on, we'll remember that soundproofing means that the hotel is in a noisy area. Unfortunately that means that having the window open is not a good idea which is a problem when it's hot. The bigger problem however was the incredibly uncomfortable hard pillow. We are not that picky but this pillow was too much and we didn't wake up very rested. The breakfast was poor: no buffet, we had to choose to have either a single croissant OR a single bun/roll. It came with a small yogurt full of sugar or artificial sweeteners and a 50% orange juice also full of sugar. Overall disappointing and not worth the money.

Review 83:Nice clean hotel and room quite pleasing for the eyes.

Review 84:It would have been good to have a table and chair. There was nothing to put anything on or to sit at.

Review 85:Very clean, new and modern. Close to everything you need - the old town, beach, bus station. We really loved the facilities.

Review 86:Nothing, it would be helpful to put something in the large shower area for shampoo ect

Review 87:Lovely new guest house, staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are thoughtfully laid out. Good location.

Review 88:The only thing that could have been better is the pillow and the breakfast...not even free coffee refills :(

Review 89:We chose this hotel for a one night stay so we could take a day trip to Morocco. The location and price was perfect.

Review 90:Not a historical area and not much for breakfast, juice, toast and croissants, but for the price the hotel is a great value!

Review 91:This is not a Hostal. Quite spacious room and shower, very new and modern, Nice TV with English stations highlighted. Friendly helpful staff with good English.

Review 92:Thin walls, quite cheap beds, no subtitles in tv and no chance to changethat (stupid standardized system). Rooms have no charme - veryfunctional, look exactly like the pics show.

Review 93:Very clean hotel, very friendly stuff but not much english knowledge, quiet room at side street, Very cooperative in low season (october),very good wifi-connection in the room

Review 94:Breakfast adequate. Didn't like tall stool to the tables. Prefer the tables on the terrace.

Review 95:Wonderful, hepful, friendly. Rooms very good, clean and comfortable.

Review 96:We tried to change our arrival date but found it impossible to get hold of any staff member by email or phone. The staff in general are not particularly helpful.

Review 97:Perfect location and super clean and modern hostel with great facilities (especially free wifi)

Review 98:Everything,, breakfast excellent, staff exceptional, cheerful, helpful, a model for any hostal /hotel . If we plan to go to Tarifa again (which we will) it will be this hostal or we stay at home. We would be obliged if you would pass on our comments to the staff.

Review 99:Would have been nice to have a shelf or basket for soap and shampoo in the shower.

Review 100:This place is designed for practicality and efficiency. Marble floors, large shower stall, electrical outlets galore, very quiet when windows are closed.no frills, just practicality. Very clean throughout.

Review 101:This is not your ordinary Hostal! Very clean, modern and comfortable... For the Money you pay you get a lot, compared to others. Location is brilliant, right in the center. The beach is 5 minutes one side and old town, 5 minutes the other. Will definitely be going back!

Review 102:No telephone in the room to call reception. Breakfast is nothing - too poor. No room service at all. zero room immunities not even coffee or team items to make since no room services

Review 103:Very Clean . Good Location. Friendly Staff Parking space.

Review 104:Breakfast wasn't impressive.

Review 105:Comfortable beds, good shower, all clean, good soundproofing, friendly staff, on main shopping street, walkable to old town and to the beach. It has parking - at a cost, but finding parking can be tricky in Tarifa!

Review 106:Because of the central location it was very noisy outside through the night and in the early morning. This does mean that you have to keep the window closed and the air con on.

Review 107:This is quite a new or newly refurbished hostal. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable with modern fixtures and fittings. Very good location in the centre of Tarifa on the main street. Parking was not available but because we know Tarifa well we found on street parking.

Review 108:Nothing to dislike. Could put a soap dish in the shower though!!

Review 109:Convenient location. Large air conditioned room. Clean and functional. Would stay again on my next visit to Tarifa.

Review 110:Got a room right in front of the hotel dumpster. Not a huge problem, until I was woken up 6 am by the almost unbelievably loud dumpster truck. Don't think it was a coincidence entirely I got this particular room, since I already paid - the staff knew it would be difficult for me to claim anything back. The english skills of the staff is really poor considering Tarifa is so international. Wouldn't say its as bad as France - but close.

Review 111:Location, clean

Review 112:Extra small and super noisy rooms facing the main street where people yell and shout all night long=impossible to sleep from 2 a.m. until 8 a.m. The price is a Parisian price but...Tarifa is definitely not Paris ! That is to say: TOO EXPENSIVE for the service offered.

Review 113:Nothing !

Review 114:First the prices were normal for the Tarifa but the variance was very high. We stay here 6 days for 70 euro for each day. Then suddenly the price increases to the 135 euro for the same room! I think this is common in all the Tarifa hotels so I do not bother that. So we choice another room from the Facundo hostel which is also managed by the Hostel Tarifa. The price of the room was the 71 euro and it was the worst room that i ever sleep in my whole life (including 12 bed dorms). We did not have any other choice so we took the room. But the most upset event is occurred in the morning. When we wanted to left our luggages in Hostel Tarifa until the our bus would arrived, staff said that we should left our luggages in Hostel Facundo which is also not free! Actually the price was not important but after giving 500 Euro, if the hotel says that you should not left your baggages in their hotel, you get very deep disappoint.

Review 115:I stay in this hotel with one of my friend in the high season. The location of the hotel is very good and it is very comfort and the cleaning staffs do their job well.

Review 116:Mattress poor quality with large depression in the middle giving me back pain, obviously over used and needs replacement

Review 117:Location, parking, staff, simple clean place

Review 118:The walls need soundproofing coz in the morning u can hear the whole corridor plus I was surprised that hostal has parking but I was told to pay 15 euros per day

Review 119:Rooms very clean and big

Review 120:Latex beds with no support. No sunlight in the room, you had to turn the lights on regardless of what time it was. The sink was in the bedroom itself, not in the bathroom where it should be. The staff did not take any interest in our stay and did not give us any hints or tips about where to go and what to see despite us asking them. They also told us breakfast wasn't available even though every other guest seemed to be able to get it!

Review 121:The location was fine.

Review 122:everything has been perfect. No negative feedback

Review 123:Good position 5 minuts by walk from the old town and located in the main street of tarifa. a lot of the shops around the hostal. the room was very clean and comfortable. the person of the hostal were very delicious.

Review 124:Our room was with windows to main street. This city is never sleep, so take earplugs.

Review 125:Very good hostal. Everything is clean. Shower and toilet in room. Convenient beds. You can park your car at the nearest streets for free. Breakfast is available in hostal at the ground floor and not so expensive.

Review 126:Single room very small and claustrophobic with fake window. Furniture very basic like a dorm room. Breakfast was poor. Better to buy your own near by.

Review 127:Location

Review 128:Great location just down the road from the bus stop and close to old town and ferries to Tanger. Definitely recommend for a short stay. Big rooms and shower and working TV and wifi in the room.

Review 129:The only thing that I didn't like, really, was the pillow. It was way too big and too hard. It may sound like a detail but as a result I found it very hard to sleep.

Review 130:Spacious rooms, well-equipped and comfortable.

Review 131:nothing

Review 132:everything
